Not a French translation of the English motto, but the one they use in the French dub.

Good god. And I thought the TR motto couldn't possibly sound worse. Imagine hearing that every day.

It may sound different because it's in a different language for you, but I bet you that people in France think our motto is weird since it's in a different language for them.

Thanks Heracross...I'll attempt to translate that into English so you guys can see the differences...

Nous sommes de retour!
We are back!

Pour vous jouer un mauvais tour!
To play a nasty trick on you!

To protect the world from devastation!

To rally all peoples with our nation! (Loosely translated: To unite all peoples within our nation!)

In order to crush love and truth!

In order to extend our power across the Milky Way! (a bit loose, but it made the most sense...)

Jessie!
James!

Team Rocket, faster than light!

Rendez-vous tous ou ce sera la guerre!
Surrender now, or it will be war!

One thing I find odd is that Ash, Misty, and Brock have different names in French (Sacha, Ondine, and Pierre respectively), but Jessie and James apparently don't. Anyone know if May and Max have different names in French?

Also, when Nyasu pops up in the French version he says "Oui, la guerre!".

Forgot about that. Now that you posted that, I remember reading about their French motto before somewhere.

I didn't think of this before but if Team Rockets motto is in french then the theme songs would also be in french too. I'd really like to find them and listen to them. But for anyone who has heard them already do they use the same music background?

Non.

Wow. I take french so I can translate a little bit of that. So far, I can tell he said that he's an american, and he lives in the united states. I think he said he can't speak english well. And the rest was an explanation of pokemon in france I think.

Yeah its strange. Many english words in french are so different that songs and stuff like that won't always rhyme.

What's so wrong about rhyming?

Actually, the lines do rhyme: retour-tour (both ending in a "toor" sound); devastation-nation (both ending in an "ah-syon" sound); vérité-Lactée (both ending in a "tay" type sound); lumière-guerre (both ending in an "ehr" sound).

No. I'm American (I live in the southwestern US), but I speak (uh, I can't speak it well, but I write and read it fairly well...) a bit of French and I like to visit Pokémon France. [[Pokémon France is a French Pokémon website here (http://www.pokemon-france.com/) formerly knows as Pokélord.]]

What I find strange is that I also see "Sacha, Pierre, Flora et Brendan". Hmm, maybe his name is Brendan, but Pokémon France and others (and I) are misinformed and the pages are out-of-date? Pokémon France calls him "Max" everywhere except here (http://www.pokemon-france.com/anime/films/film6/) and one time here (http://www.pokemon-france.com/anime/bios/Masato.htm). Even in the 8th movie synopsis he's "Max"! Poké Challenge also says (http://pokechallenge.free.fr/personnages/maxprofile.html) he's called Max in France.

I'm not sure anymore. (But it seems to me that he's Max, not Brendan. Most of the sites say "Max," and most of the sites that say "Brendan" or "Brenden" are synopses of the 6th movie.)

If I said something incorrectly, I would like it if someone corrected me.

Cool. It's like the American TR motto basically, just some words and phrases are different. Those are literal translations, which makes it sound like that. Kind of a fun fact there.

What the hell?

No. You didn't use the correct address...heck, you didn't even use a address at all. You just put aamayl. ¬¬ And you shouldn't be asking that in a random thread. Post in the damn newbie section.
