What is this so-called, STAB? Is it something similar to Missingno from Pokemon red, blue, green and yellow?

STAB = Same Type Attack Bonus.

Yes I'm fairly sure it does exist in RBY (it's even hinted at in the game when a kid says 'teach pokemon attacks of the same type for more power' or something). I'm not an RBY expert though, but I'm 99.7% sure.

Hm...I'm not sure.

I'd say otherwise though. I only heard about STAB when RS came out, and I think I remember someone saying they weren't in the previous games.

Yes there is, if a pokemon uses an attack of its type it is 1.5 times powerful. Just like in the later games.
