Your mixes are the best out of all your sprites

Thanks, I had a Clefable+Porygon 2 sprite but it didn't seem to come out right...

4th June 2006, 7:43 AM

They're really good sprites. The Crobat fossil creeps me out. LOL and the mixes and pillow shadings are awesome! I really like Dragonair and Ivysaur. The lineless is good too. Can't wait to see more of YOUR sprites!!!

pretty good for a beginner if you ask me/but if your going to recolor don't scratch some black eyeballs.mixes as said before are the best i'd stick to mixes because recolors don't really teach you anything.i dun't think that's pillow shading or is it i think thats oversahdes you can practice your sahding by doing that if your going into fakes or scratches etc.oversahdes are'nt that special either you just kept on overlaping the color from darkest to lightest.

Thanx for your comments guys. ArchFireDragon thanks for the advice, I don't understand ewhat you mean by the recolouring fossils part, the eyeballs aren't scratched they're just filled (or emptied) with black to make it look empty. I will concentrate mainly on my mixing from now on..
EDIT: Made another mix, it's not one of my best though, mainly because i had to scratch the back... http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j140/Amphoroz_26/Ludilosion.png

your fossils are good

one of the most important things in spriting: when recolouring, for mixes, fossils, whatever, always remember to recolour the outline too! i can see a lot of brown on persian fossil and it really spoils the effect. recolour the outlines and it will amket hem look much better!
hope that helps!

Yay! comments! Anyway, i guess i was rushing doing to recolours and all...
D-man: Thanks, I used ur guide for the fossil on the freewebs website.

5th June 2006, 2:45 PM
hm, that was what i thought i'm really glad that it helped

6th June 2006, 12:22 PM
D-man : It did ^_^
here's 2 more sprties, one is an Espeon+Umbreon mix and the other is my early attempts to scratch...( i know it's horrible>_<)

The fossils are really nothing special, and you didn't completely recolor more than one- watch out for that, as it automatically takes away from the quality of the sprites.

The mixes aren't really impressive because for most of them, all you did was paste the body parts of one Pokémon onto another and then recolor the base. *yawns* They're really just okay, nothing more, nothing less- I suggest you make less simple mixes next time, as these are really easy to do and can be done by almost anyone.

The overshades are okay, but nothing amazing. For some of them, like Ditto, you should have used more colors for the different shades because in overshades the transition from the dark shadows to light highlights should look smooth and natural. Of course, it would help if you followed the normal shading, but meh.

Nothing really to say about the lineless. It's neat, and at least you didn't do it like some people do and just erase every line you say (or so it looks, anyway). :P

The scratch is not good. The shape is not smooth and rounded on the serpentile body, the head looks disfigured and mutated as if you took the head of another Pokémon and just edited it yourself (which wouldn't make this an actual scratch). The coloring is all right, but the shading is poor, and you don't seem to know how to shade properly. And what the heck are those growths coming out of its back? o.O

Don't worry, these just need a bit more work. Just put a bit more effort into your sprites, and don't be afraid to take the time to look over them and think to yourself: 'did I do this right? Is there anything I can fix?'
You can do it- I think you could be a great spriter if you want to be! Good luck!

everything is pretty average, but there is potential. On the dragonair overshade, maybe try and fix the blue line where its body curves, it looks strange right there. Kepp practicing with your mixes and you will get better...we all started from the bottom.

the new one looks good.
