View Full Version : Sprites

Uh, Hey, just posting some not-so-old plus newer sprites I've done. The ones under *older sprites* were done about a month ago. They are posted in such an order that the older ones are from the left and the newer ones on the right. All these sprites here were done by me, some may bare similar resemblances to those of Team Leichi Pokemon for I submitted them to Gundam_Remake/Greenleaf, for Team Leichi. He then edited them and such, so do not be mistaken that theft has occured.

For Sealgon, Draquatic and Scavigon(first three sprites under *Latest Sprites*), they are not my ideas. I simply made new sprites of them. Do not ask whether you can use them or not, the original ideas were not mine.

Constructive criticism greatly appreciated. Also, sprites here may not be used without my permission, do not steal by claiming these sprites as your own handiwork.

Whoa, i love your spriting style, i know how to sprite, but could you tell me how you make you fakemon in your style?

24th June 2006, 12:59 PM
Make my fakemon in my style? Could you please be more specific? I simply just draw them on paper and whenever I feel like I want to sprite, I open up Paint and start spriting them. My style varies depending on the texture I want to create. Some have less of the lighter shades and stuff.

Can i use the wolf dude w/ a mask? He's sweet!

24th June 2006, 3:04 PM
What wolf? If you mean Scavigon(third guy from the left under new sprites), sorry, but no. That sprite was just a remake of the original Savigon sprite. The idea was not mine.

Also, I finished another sprite:
I got lazy at the fingers and bottom flames so those areas are yuck. I'm not very good at spriting fire so you may not see it as fire.

I really like your sprites, but I...think you put too much black in the outlines O_o

yeah, the outlines bug me a bit, but the ideas are creative :)

Wow, these sprites are very cool. I like the idea of the fog/snake/human thing. The best one IMO, is the white horse/dragon/armor thing :).

24th June 2006, 3:52 PM
I like the older sprites better. The newer ones have bad color choice.

24th June 2006, 4:17 PM
Are you a fan of the anime Bleach?
Because the long snake thing reminds me of a charaters Bankai, and the latest sprite you made, the fire one, reminds me of one of the bountous Dolls.
If you dont, just ignore all of what i just said.

Back on topic, you are a really talented spiriter, and i am amazed how you can come up woth something, and still manage to execute it in an effect and stylish way.

If you haven't already, you should seriously join C Spriting. ^^

I like the green guy with wires with cans attached or something...creative ideas, but what are they based off?

24th June 2006, 10:39 PM
For those of you who are asking about Sealgon, Draquatic and Scavigon, the answer of "Can I use them?" is...

Hell no. Yeah, I designed them =P

Why do you have to be so damn good at scratch sprites? The third one in the first row looks like a mega-Regi-fusion.

jeez those all look really hard to make and intricate. You are very talented. My favorite is the serpent looking one under old sprites.

*Newer Sprites*
I love those three! I like the last one the most though! Good job!

I consider the Sealgon to Savigon line one of my best sprites but I have issues with the eyes of Sealgon(meant to be wide eyed and innocent looking) plus its tail, Draquatic's overall look due to it looking like some bloated balloon and for Scavigon, when I reached its hind legs, I got extremely tired due to repettitive respriting of its poses, thus, rushing it all the way.

And yeah, my outlines are usually filled with black cause I've this nasty habit of using many shades for the outlines. If you take a closer look, you can see the second body shade is also used to the outlines.

Thanks for pointing out that my colour choices are poor. I've usually got problem choosing colours so I stick to using those of my own older sprites of the standard game sprites.

Most of my designs and stuff just come from random doodling on paper with no base at all. However, if I see something which really sparks me(like that flaming bamboo snake I based off Renji's Bankai from Bleach), I just sketch out something like it. The green bamboo guy with strings and stuff attatched to it is based off some old Japanese toy. I forgot what that kind of toy was called. As for the third guy from the left on the first row, he's supposed to be a monk Pokemon. I messed up real bad on his sleeve areas for I'm not very good at shading clothes.

My shading is according to texture, thus, it'll seem like there is no light source, which is true.

25th June 2006, 11:27 PM
They're all nice and such... yadda yadda, though the first and second of the bottom row are very overshaded if that makes sense... moreso the third... Its coat is burning my eyes with its detail! XD There's something off about the shading of its facial mask/thing...

26th June 2006, 1:30 AM
Very unique style for spriting. Good job.

26th June 2006, 2:46 PM
Oh yar, thanks for the crit Blueguy. For the Sealgon and Draquatic, they seem overshaded due to the fact I wanted to make them more "slimy" looking. Alas, the colour choices were bad, as Zuloon pointed out. Thus, Sealgon looks flatter as the shades go. I'm fairly satisfied with Draquatic's "overshade" though. It's just my style for that.

I had no idea how to shade Scavigon's metal mask. I wanted to give it a shiny effect however, I didn't really pick the right colours. I'll probably recolour it after finishing the sprite I'm working on. And umm, coat detail? Could you be more specific? Thank you.

Great job on the sprites,i like scavigon the best.

Four New sprites:

I had to reconstruct the body of this guy for it was too big the first time round. I'm still not satisfied with the orb stuck into his body. It just doesn't seem round enough.

Major issues with the tail and the main body. I can't seem to make them round enough. I can't put my finger to what's wrong with it.

The dislike the arms and the belly. The belly looks flat and the arms are disproportionate.

He looks more watery than icy to me. I'm not too sure as to how to make it look shiny instead of slimy. The tail doesn't look jointed too.

The last two ice dragons were a request by a friend. The original drawing of his:
so I redrew them to match my spriting needs:

That's all... for now.

Well, quite a few new sprites which I've done of late.

I got bored and started recolouring them. Well, my first recolours ever anyway. Criticism dearly needed, thank you. The two apes were some request which wasn't what the owner wanted the Pokemon to look like. As for the rest, they're totally my own ideas.

simply magnificent!!

keep up the good work

The sprites in the previous posts won't show up as my normal hosting server is down at the moment. But here are a few new sprites:

There are still three other sprites in my drive. I'll upload them later.

20th August 2006, 3:07 AM
Nice new sprites! I really like the last one, he looks awesome:D

20th August 2006, 7:22 AM
Now that server is back on, the older sprites should be showing themselves.

These were done after the first sprite in the second post.

A scratch trainer sprite:
The way the pants are shaded irk me. I'm not too sure how to shade clothes properly. As for the top shading, it's all random.

Basically, the sprites will all be displayed here. Some at a later time after going through revamps:

20th August 2006, 9:11 PM
Those look really good :D The trainer is pretty cool also :)

20th August 2006, 9:17 PM
Wow you are extreamly good spriteir !!! lol just one question how do u do it and how do u get the ideas??? lol

20th August 2006, 10:56 PM
If they are supposed to be fakemon, they're too realistic. They need to be dummed down a bit, to the cartoony pokemon standard. That's my only issue with them.

26th August 2006, 6:56 PM

Yar, they are fakemon. If you're referring to the style of spriting which appear too realistic, it's basically because I don't use the conventional Pokemon spriting style. More of whatever suits the texture and feel of the Pokemon itself. Well, thanks, I'll try to make them look more cartoonish, if I can help it that is.

A new sprite. I added the shiny for the fun of it. A rather slip-shod job in terms of shading.

26th August 2006, 7:12 PM
Wow, theyre all amazing, looks like u spent a lot of time working on them..
the only thing that doesnt seems right is the size, they are way to big for sprites. but still awesome...

28th August 2006, 5:18 PM
Well, not really a lot of time but long enough. Around one to and hour and a half for a standard sprite. Three hours at tops. That's why a lot of them are rushed.

Ah yes, the size. Most of my sprites are gigantic for I dislike cramping everything into a basic 65x65 size. I don't really consider them as pixel art as they aren't really... well, pixel-artish.

I've being using a lot of dithering in my sprites of late. I'll fix the dithering on the helmet of the previous sprite. It makes the sprite look weird.

Yes, I really stink at animation. A random colourless dancing guy. Boredom's work. It was meant to be a sort of overworld sprite but I got lazy and ditched the idea.

Presenting, the glitch Pokemon "M". No, not my own fake, M from R/B days, the block which appears. I don't call it Missingno for Missingno is the one with a Poke Tower ghost sprite. "M" is the glitchy block thing.

I'm not sure whether anyone else has tried revamping or remaking "M", but I found it a rather interesting to attempt something like this. The base colours were from the glitch block from R/B. On the whole, I dislike the outlines of this sprite. The entire sprite was rather rushed, causing the poor shading of the outlines.

Design-wise, the body shape is based off the L-shape of "M". Wings are there for fun, a block alone would be boring to create. As for the teeth... Just to make it look comical.
