View Full Version : Motorcycles, Scooters or just Walking?

Well this is the main question. Wild pokemon or no wild pokemon. You choose. Think about this way. If you have a motorcycle, a scooter, etc, there's not gonna be wild pokemon. And dont even say: Iwant..uh..I want pokespots, because that was stupid they only had one type of pokemon. Well, what do want. Want it to be like XD or the handheld games? And look at it this way, if you want shadow pokemon, theres not gonna be wild pokemon, and if you want wild pokemon, you just aint gonna get shadows. Who me? I'd have to say wild. I HATE Shadows.Answer the poll too!

It's been announced; no shadows. That probably means it's just like a 3D version of the GBA-type RPGs. So, probably walking.

Probably wild, although for some reason, I don't care.

Thats great since i've been longing for a normal pokemon rpg on the larger consoles!
I'd like to have all of the mentioned though but i wouldn't mind having just the good old bicycle!

A bicycle would be good for me in this game! ^_^;

Dude, don't flame. Respect their opinion.

I, personally, don't care. I liked the Shadow Pokemon concept, but I would actually prefer wild Pokemon. Like I've said numerous times, if they're not doing Shadow Pokemon, I want a whole new RPG that doesn't involve Gym Badges. Which requires wild Pokemon.

I'd much rather get a Stadium like game, but if it's an RPG like Colo/XD(which it probably will be) I'll still get it if I ever get a Revolution(Wii's a stupid name).

Yea, the bike is fine with me too. I never really liked that huge motocycle anyway. And the scooter looked like it was made for smaller people. (10 or 11year olds). And I agree with you, water types rule, Wii is a stupid name. I think that's just the japanese name for it. I think they'll translate it to an american name soon.... I hope anyway.

ehh, Wii sorta is the english name, th eJapanese name is written in Katakana
(ウ''ィ-) And Katakana tends to stick (The GBA's japanese name is the English Japanse name, thats written in Katakana aswell). This area looks realy advanced. I'd love to see the bike back but Hoverbike would = Pwn
And where do you get the ideas that Shadows = No wilds? Pokespots FTW <<. I seriously hope we get both in this game, but If we had to loose one for it: Loose teh Wilds, they didnt exactly give sucky shadow pokemon

Meh, i don't care about having wild pokémon or not. When you are forced to use advanced pokémon, you can discover how good they can be, as happened in colosseum.
Anyways, I still want Wes' motorbike, coolest vehicle ever.
And where do you get the ideas that Shadows = No wilds? Pokespots FTW << *Agrees* No matter how underdeveloped pokéspots were, catching wild pokémon and a trainer's pokémon are completely different ways which can be seen in the same game.

Normal Pokemon, no Shadows. But meh, I won´t buy a Wii, so it doesn´t matter

I really hope wild PKMN are in the game, walking around grass in 3D will just feel so real and cool. But having a scooter did rock too, maybe it could be the new bicycle.

I want shadows and wild Pokemon. So that means walking or bicycling through the games. Something more similar to the GBA titles.

That's not the point. The point is purifying the pokemon. Besides it's already been announced that there's not gonna be any shadows anyway, and if there are no shadows, there's gonna be wild pokemon. But I just dont want there to be pokespots. They only have one type of pokemon and the reason they put them in XD anyway is so you could capture the missed shadows from Minor B.

Also trading with Duking (for even better Pokemon) and to catch some half decent Pokemon (Trapinch and Aron FTW).
When was it anounced there wouldnt be shadows? I dont think I missed any information about it. Nothing says they woudlnt throw wild Pokemon elsewhere (Imaginge, tired from battle and Snaging, a room away from the Boss and BAM Wild Aragorn and Wild Flygon apperes!)

Anyways, that doesn't mean that we'll have wild, they could force you to use a few and then buy others (like prize corners in GB/GBA casinos), or snag other kind of pokémon =P
Wild Aragorn Will we get Wild Frodo or Wild Legolas? xD

Well, I like wild Pokémon, although I can see why it would be funny to implement on the Wii in quite the same way as on the gameboy (which would be the reason they had the Pokéspots in XD). It's odd to have a Pokémon suddenly appear out of nowhere in the middle of the game when you're walking around, and if you could see the Pokémon in the field, it would take out the whole concept of really rare Pokémon, because you could just see where one is and walk over to it to attack it. =/ It could work in a limited way with tall grass - small Pokémon could just be hiding in it so you can't see them, which would give them an excuse to make you get into battle without first seeing the Pokémon that's attacking you - but what about caves and large Pokémon?

Legolas used Pin Missle, Espeon fainted!

Come out from behind rocks and corners probly. Water pokemon attack when you move past a certin Water point, Flying types fly down at you...

Dragonfree

If they "come out from behind rocks and corners", you can avoid them by not walking past the rocks and corners... unless you mean they'd freeze you and have the Pokémon jump out to attack you... Hmm, that would be a nice idea. Still doesn't solve the large Pokémon, though.

The freeze was sorta what I ment, You would freexe when you went past and The pokemon would jump out at you. Large pokemon, however, is a bigger obsticle. They could come at you from behind, or attack the moment you enter the room. Of course, it would be tireing if there were Lots of large pokemon, so we could look at it in a 'Digimon World 2' fasion, its sorta like the D/P layout, you can see the Digimon on the over world, for every step you took, they took one (SOme times two) and when they were a square away in any compass Directtion

Meh, that's pretty much like Mario&Luigi. I don't think there would be any problem if they suddenly make you start a battle as in GB/GBA games, just for being in 3D it wouldn't look more weird than it already does.

I really hope that this will be like the GB/A games. For the question on how they would appear in caves/water, the pokemon in caves would blend in so you wouldn't really notice them. Maybe the caves will have different colours of rock so that it will be very hard to see them. Or maybe the wild pokes will just agro you, and you go into a battle.

I don't want every 3 steps a wild pokemon,I want them to be 3D and uncommon.Meaning you jsut don't see a pokemon all the time.I want it like I'm in Berry Town and see a Munchlax trying to get a berry,or I'm in Grass Town and step on a Seviper or a Lioone.

I'd disagree: they seem to have a large fanbase.

Anyway why does it have to be one or the other? Yes proper Routes you could walk on freely would be good, but what's stopping you from getting a big Wes-style hoverbike and driving along the routes? And maybe instead of a cut scene you could actually control the bike! That would be awesome - especially as the bike seems to have quite a few supporters.

As for the Wild Aragorn, was that deliberate or a typo? But you did suggest something interesting - if there are wild Pokemon, could they team up for double battles?

I wouldn't mind if you could choose to walk or to ride a bike/motorcycle thing similar to the way Simon Togetic stated above. Being able to control the bike/motorcycle instead of just having a cut scene.

I would have to agree. I wouldn't really mind having to walk, or use a vehicle. I also agree it would be a lot cooler if you could control the bike/vehicle instead of just seeing a cutscene. That would be awesome.

I meant Aggron, it was just a Typo D: I used the Double Battles as that was (Pretty Much) The only way to battle in colo/GoD. Why not carry it to wilds?

I would rather walk and experience the landscape rather then rush through it all with the cutscenes to the next place in less then 3 seconds.

If you have to send out your Skarmory and use fly to get to another place faster, that would be fine. The vehicles just don't appeal to me.. It makes you feel less like a trainer if you get what I mean.

I would much rather see you send out your Pokemon to surf or fly then to hop on a motorcycle and off you go..

From your subject I thought you were asking how you'd prefer to go from town to town. I will say I'd rather walk, like you do in the GBA games, as it's fun trying to get to the next town too, not just exploring the town itself.

As far as your real question, I'd like wild Pokemon but I guess it isn't entirely necessary. Colosseum and XD worked okay without them. If this game ends up in Orre it probably won't have wild Pokemon.

You so faked me out with that poll question.
DARN YOU!
To answer both, wild pokemon were great in XD so why not slap em in this one?
Maybe this will be a fully wild pokemon RPG and none of these shadow shenanigans...
And walking>scooter/motorcycle/bike
