I have to say: 2.94/10. In R/B/Y, It was a lot better; But it is good now for pokemon early in the game.

Hmmm.....

Of Course Calm Mind>Growth, but growth has more PP. It isnt that good, but in the beginning of the game it can be.

Id Say 6/10

It's good in the Early game, I'll give it that, but later most monsters can learn Calm Mind so it outlive's it's Purpose:
4/10

1/10 it's so bad, calm mind is so much better, as stated above it was really good for RBY, but now it sucks.

My bellsprout uses Growth/Sleep powder to help vine whip. A decent move in the beginning of the game but no use later on. 5/10.

Growth has its uses on early game grass types, but not much else. Still helpfull for a boost when you can't get clam mind.

Growth: 1/10

I do only use it for building attack EV secret bases for shiftry and victreebel as their only move.

People use stat raising moves in the beginning of the game?

0/10, useless upto when you get Calm Mind, and useless after.

I actually give it a 6.

It was good, and still could be good on Special Sweeping Venusaur, like it's seen. >_>

Never mind, give it a 4

I say 4.5/10

It is a good move but the limited pool of pokemon that can use it takes it down a few notches... and the fact that it only raises Special attack rather then Attack and SA or a second effect like most new moves lowers it a little too.

It's useful but to a limit

I'll rate it 6.5/10.
Growth isn't that bad of a move, sure calm mind is MUCH better, but growth can serve its purposes. It's a useful move on special sweeping grass type pokemon, since Celebi is the only grass that can learn calm mind (I think...).
I've found the move to come quite in handy on Victreebel before, so it really isn't too bad. The only flaws about it, IMO, are that only grasses can learn it naturally, and it only raises sp.attack ONE stage, meaning you have to use it six times in order to max your stat, unlike moves like Swords dance, which take only half the setup time.
I think growth was kinda intended to be more of a fun move, not a huge competitive one.

2/10. Growth is just damn slow and does nothing to help your defenses. It doesn't raise speed either.

Ballade
15th August 2006, 4:24 PM
didn't Growth increase the special stat by 2 levels back in RBY? if it's true, then on the RBY scale, I'd give it an 8/10. For GSC, I'd give it a 6/10. on a GBA scale, it gets a flat 1/10 since Calm Mind not only does more, but comes in TM form so not only is it more convienant, but it can also be passed down to almost any pokemon.

5/10 growth is kinda usefull in some situations such as a sweeping venasaur or a baton passer. BTW I don't care if my vote doesn't get taken to account :P
