Nicknames I gave my pokemon, eh, varies with the versions I play.

I usually name my Arcainine or Houndoom Seth. And, then, I would call my starter plant pokemon Uaithne which is Celtic for green... Annnd... Zapdos or Absol, I would call Whitby... And, Vaporeon or Espeon is called Jet... Q'what elllseee? Hm... And, Pidgeot, or any other bird pokemon I get is named Aviator.

But, like I said, it varies with the version I play.

I've always liked to nickname my pokemon and my first game in blue version was no exception back in 98. My squirtle had an immediate affect on my initial internet screenname on the old pokegym which lingers to this day were that not obvious.
My best names though were probably:
Yertle - Squirtle
Mr. Clean - Muk

I still keep a Mr. Clean and a Yertle around to this day as well as an Al the Alakazam

Except for Pika the Pikachu (How original!) I nickname my Pokemon with real names. I use the letters of it's name or one of the letters of it's evolved form's name to form the name. For example, Dora and Ron, Nidoran male and Nidoran female, get their names from a sort of anagram of Nidoran, except only using some letters. I sometimes have to add a letter, though.

My Charmander on Red, which I just started, is called "Charara!".

I only nicknamed my Pokemon in the 1st generation games. Although my PMD team is Aewyne the Eevee and Emburii the Charmander.

Well, one day I had time, so I thought up a nickname for my Cradily. I named it Xenameda, after my current favorite coral, xenia, (it is really cool. It also resembles (somewhat) a cradily), and halimeda, which is an awesome algae that basically grows hard calcium carbonate skeleton, and when it dies, it becomes flakes of sand (this is how the sand in the Florida Keys was made, aside from parrotfish) (Incidentally: cradily is rock-grass, and halimeda is a rocky plant. Thus...). As you can see, I had a lot of time on my hands.

I either nickname my Pokemon Japanese names, Italian names, or names that combine two words(for example, Starslash). Although occasionally I come up with my own names when I can't think of a good name by smashing various letters and vowels together.

However, my first ever Pokemon(Squirtle) was named Squirty...

I love to name things, so yes, I give my Pokemon nicknames. I'm afraid I'm a bit obsessed with the process.
I've had Mantid the Scyther, Spitfire the Charizard, Madre the Kangaskhan, Lazuli the Lapras, Arizona the Moltres, Selki the Vaporeon, Nosferatu the Zubat, Copycat the Mewtwo, and, yes, Floyd the Slowbro ('cuz he's pink... and Comfortably Numb.)
I could go on for weeks.

I've also had Bruce the Hitmonlee, Jackie the Hitmonchan, Chil the Fearow, Baku the Drowzee, and Vogel the Pidgeot.

Good Lord, I am obsessed.

Is there a Nameaholics Anonymous?

I once, out of the blue, decided to name my pokemon backwards. I have no idea what possessed me to do it, but my friends were in for a shock when they recieved an Omanyte in a trade named etynamO!

Heh... fun.
I've always wanted to get a Pokemon and name it Milk?, just so I can take it out of a Pokemon box and have the text read "Got Milk?"

I usally don't nickname my Pokemon, although I can remember one game I played when my boyfriend just had dumped me, and I had a weedle named Thomas (the name of my ex boyfriend), and made sure he got killed in every battle, through the whole game.

Good ol' times ^^

Sparky the Pikachu,

LOL I always named my pikachu in Yellow version sparky too. I think it was because thats what Richie called his in the Anime series :25:

Yep, that was my Pikachu too, and for that reason.

Pyromaniac is a good Charizard name... I had a Pyro but never a Pyromaniac.

Never thougt of Tempest for a Zapdos. Zapdos is always the one I have trouble nicknaming. I've had a Thor, a Blitzvogel, and a Kansas (random, I know, but I already had a Moltres named Arizona... because of Phoenix), but none of the names really seemed right.

Mine usually go like this; (Obviously depending on what version I'm playing)

Houndoom/Pidgeot - Whitby (One of my modern fantasy rp characters)
Venasaur/Meganium - Uaithne (Irish for Green)
Arcainine - Seth (Another one of my modern Fantasy rp characters)
Clefairy - Marilyn (Cause, Clefairy looks a bit like Marilyn Monroe)/Heroine (After a song by Suede)
Pikachu - Bui (Irish for Yellow)
Charizard - O(After the album that the song Volcano by Damien Rice is on)/Vagabond (After a song by Wolfmother)
Sandslash - Landslide (After a single by my favourite band, The Vines)
Articuno - Witchcraft (After a Wolfmother song)
Espeon/Vaporeon - Jet (Yet ANOTHER one of my Modern Fantasy rp characters. :I)

Yeah, I put a lot of thought into them. XD It's rather extensive.

Yeah. Normally, just any of my ground/rock pokemon I call Landslide... Any pokemon that learns Rock slide and Earthquake, because, like a landslide, those two occurances count as natural disasters. XP
