View Full Version : Sapphire Team

I sure am asking for a lot of things in Sapphire, as I already posted a contest team... Currently I have six badges in Sapphire, and my Pokemon are reaching level 40. At this point I could use some tips for which moves to keep and which moves to add...

*I'll post the movesets they have now, and the movesets I'm planning them to have.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
;260; Swampert
Nature: Quiet
Ability: Torrent
Current Moveset: Surf, Mud Shot, Take Down, Muddy Water
Planned Moveset:
Surf
Earthquake
Ice Beam
Protect
**Any suggestions for a better move than Protect?
;315; Roselia
Nature: Modest
Ability: Natural Cure
Current Moveset: Magical Leaf, Poison Sting, Grasswhistle, Leech Seed
Planned Moveset:
Magical Leaf
Sludge Bomb
Aromatherapy
???
**Should I keep one of the moves he already knows, or add Synthesis, or what?
;026; Raichu
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Static
Current Moveset: Thunderbolt, Iron Tail, Sweet Kiss, Charm
Planned Moveset:
Thunderbolt
(physical move)
Sweet Kiss
Attract? Light Screen? Thunder Wave? Um...
*For a physical attack, I was thinking on either keeping Iron Tail or adding Brick Break or Return.
*Raichu can still learn Thunder Wave if I go to the Move Tutor in Fallarbor Town--I believe that's one of Raichu's starting moves...
*Unfortunately, I can't change Raichu's nature...
*It's obvious that I hatched Raichu from an egg, as only Pichu can learn Sweet Kiss and Charm.
;308; Medicham
Nature: Relaxed
Ability: Pure Power
Current Moveset: Calm Mind, Confusion, Mind Reader, Hi Jump Kick
Planned Moveset:
Psychic
Calm Mind
Hi Jump Kick
Mind Reader? Elemental punch? Shadow Ball? Recover?
*If her nature was Gentle instead of Relaxed, she would make a perfect Contest Pokemon, but...
*Arrgh, there are too many options with Medicham... I'm wondering what would go best with her ability and nature...
;354; Banette
Nature: Calm
Ability: Insomnia
Current Moveset: Shadow Ball, Faint Attack, Curse, Will-O-Wisp
Planned Moveset:
Shadow Ball
Faint Attack
Curse
Will-O-Wisp
**Hehheh, the movesets are identical for once...
;373; Salamence (currently a Shelgon, but...)
Nature: Modest
Ability: Rock Head (will be Intimidate)
Current Moveset: Dragonbreath, Headbutt, Cut, Protect
Planned Moveset:
Dragon Claw
Aerial Ace
Flamethrower
Crunch
*I pick mostly Special attacks because of her Modest nature.
*Should I keep Protect or not...?
Notes for all:
*Their natures and abilities can't be changed
*I haven't used any TM's on my Pokemon so far. I got all of them (except Mudkip) by breeding them in Ruby and trading the eggs to Sapphire to hatch there. So some moves are from their parents, like Iron Tail on Raichu. (And my Shuppet was born with Shadow Ball--yay!)
*I need suggestions for items...
Where do I get the Curse TM in Sapphire?
Sorry, it's physical...
Raichu can't learn Surf... and I believe Seismic Toss is an Egg move. And Raichu's Attack is higher than his Special Attack thanks to being Adamant...
I'm already planning on using the Brick Break TM on Raichu, but oh well...
Could work if I could change her nature...
My Medicham's highest stat is Defense...
I still need more opinions on this, obviously... because I can't change these Pokemon's natures.
Just rebreed. You have to rebreed for some of the moves like Dragon Dance and Curse.
Swampert@lefties
Relaxed Nature
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Earthquake
- Rest
This set is easier to obtain and use ingame.
Roselia@lefties
Modest Nature
- Leech Seed
- Magical Leaf
- Stun Spore
- Aromatherapy / Synthesis / Substitute / HP [Ice]
Roselia gets all the good grass moves but hasn't got the stats to use them.
Raichu@lefties
Hasty Nature
- T-Bolt
- Sub
- Focus Punch
- Encore / HP [Grass / Ice] / Surf
Surf is obtainable via Pokemon Box. Subpunching is really the only viable set for Raichu. Encore a status effect or a stat decreasing move and Sub to block it while you Focus Punch away.
Medicham@Choice Band
Jolly Nature
- Hi Jump Kick / Brick Break
- Rock Slide
- Shadow Ball
- Fake Out
Fake Out really hurts with Choice Band and Medicham's ability.
Banette@lefties
Adamant Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Return / HP [Fighting]
- Will-o-Wisp
- Knock Off / Destiny Bond
Knock Off is fun in the Battle Tower. Destiny Bond isn't that good an option because it doesn't have the speed to pull it off like Gengar. Nothing resists both Shadow Ball and HP [Fighting], but again, you'd have to rebreed for it.
Salamence@lefties
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
- Aerial Ace
- Rock Slide / Fire Blast / Hydro Pump
Rock Slide is the most useful ingame, but Fire Blast also works if you have no access to the Rock Slide tutor. Bagon can learn both Dragon Dance and Hydro Pump from Gyarados. Altaria learns it at lv. 40.
Needs something that can wall special attacks and a decent special sweeper......if you don't mind I'd suggest switching Roselia and Raichu for Regice / Lanturn and Gardevoir / Alakazam. Regice and Lanturn can take special attacks pretty well, and both Gardevoir and Alakazam are good special sweepers.
Curse isn't a TM. You have to breed.
Swampert@Leftovers
Brave/Sassy/Relaxed/Quiet
-Ice Beam
-Earthquake
-Surf/Curse/Rest
-Surf/Curse/Rest
Raichu can learn surf through Pokemon Box. Adamant Raichu is not so good.
Raichu@Leftovers
-Substitute
-Focus Punch
-Thunderbolt
-Encore/T-Wave
Don't use Brick Break on Raichu. It's better SubPunching.
Leftovers can be won at the Battle Tower randomly. You have a chance for every 7th consecutive win after 35.
If you have a modest Salamence, use Elemence
Salamence@Leftovers
Modest
-Dragon Claw
-Crunch
-Hydro Pump
-Flamethrower
