Firstly: There are two sprite limits: 80x80 and 64x64.
Secondly: Read a scratch toturial, and DO NOT use default Paint colors!
Third: The names are a bit lame
Fourth: Read the second again, till you know it by heart.

everyone is always so mean to me... does anyone understand the words
BE NICE?!
1. i only joined serebii forums 3 or 4 days ago
2. i don't have broadband so i can't download any fancy photoshops
3. you guys are probably all 60 year old men with better things to do
4. and who cares about lame names? i looked at your sprites and they have terrible names!

P.S
sorry for the outburst, it's just that i spent ages making those and you guys are making it sound like i spent 2 seconds on them!

Do you understand the word WORK?! seriously, if you ignore crit, make excuses and fish for compliments. Insulting other people simply from telling the truth really won't win over anyone. Photoshop makes no difference. If you produce crap with ms paint, what chance do you have with a complicated program like photoshop?!

Age and length of membership have about as much to do with your ability as a spriter as the compared length of your thumb and forefinger do!

No-one is saying your lame names are a big problem, just saying they could be improved. Don't use paint default colours, don't use the pencil tool whilst holding down, draw each pixel and finally use shading!

Judging from the extremely crappy effort and attitude i'm going to guess these really did take 2 seconds not hours. Finally, don't give yourself a high rating. That really does scream "NOOB!!!!"

Unlike you, I'm not sorry about this rant, It's time you looked at a tutorial and improved your spriting (if you can call it a sprite.) but more importantly, improve your attitude towards criticism. Fair enough getting angry at reviews like 'Wow i liek em 100/10' which provide no information on how to improve but we give you fair information on how you despratley need to improve and you practically spit it back on us, insulting us cos we refuse to kiss your sorry ***. Next time, take crit, use it to improve and don't insult those who try to help you. Woe betide you if you continue to ignore us...

1. Boo hoo. The 'I'm new' excuse died with the Green sprites.
2. I have broadband and I DON'T download them. All you need is MS Paint. And everyone has that.
3. Comments like that won't make people suddenly think your sprites are amazing and will probably convince them to either not post or take that comment further.
4. Nobodies sprites are bad. There's only the ones which need work, some more than others. Never call anyone's sprites bad, especially when they have taken time and effort to try and help you and give you advice. Your right for one thing; we DO have better things to do with our time. So we're granting you a favor spending our time posting here.

Now, I would really suggest you read a tutorial because your sprites need a lot of work. They are over the size limit, they have no shading, no outline colours, you drew them by holding the pencil tool, and some of the ideas are too basic.

ok, i'm sorry...
but most people don't use constructive criticism, they're just trying to be mean. and i've seen worse sprites than mine getting good reviews.
any more advice is welcome i suppose

I'm 11 and I joined yesterday (I was English avatarman who joined 2 years ago). I can do better than that. They mean use maid colours, but not the prior set ones.

Edit: we're not trying to be mean, we're trying to improve you on the bad parts, we're helping you.

I took the time to make a picture and write up some help for you, as it is really the best way to help, by showing:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v637/kirbymew/improvements-1.png

I hope this helps. The last thing to learn is shaping, but that only comes with time and practice. remember, gamesprites are at an angle. Before making scratch sprites, see if you can find a real sprite in a simalar pose, that will help a lot when you draw and shade it.
Now, try this with another one of your fakes.
If you practice enough, you'll be able to make realistic and complicated fakes that will make everyone go 'wow'. You have the ideas, just need the practice.
See the fine birdmoster in my av? I've been spriting for over a year before i made that. You can't get perfect overnight, so work hard, and good luck.
EDIT: >< It's supposed to say use, not sue. Lol, sue colours from other sprites...

The actual fact that they are sprites now show improvement but the poses lack dynamics. It can be hard to do but fakemon will look better if done at the 3/4 angle. Still at least you have made some improvements but you need to work on shading.

You arnt very good at this, you could get alot better if you would JUST LISTEN to what people (such as Nevermore) were saying then TRY IT OUT!

Not to be mean or anything, I think those are a little bad.On some of the Outlines, you should smooth them out. As in make it 1 pixel wide unless of overlaps. you should try and work on your shading. You onlyhave to shades on a few of your sprite and none on some. Remember where the light source is. That should help you to shade. Use at least 4 shades for the sprite. One for high lights. Two for base color. Three for the shade and part of the outline. And four for the outline. You also would need to have black on the outline too, so don't go over board with the outline. Also, try and study the Ruby and Sapphire sprites as referance. You might also want to make a better pose for a few fakemon of yours. And like many have said. DO NOT use default paint colors. Instead, go to colors>edit colors and play around a bit. It is on the top of Paint.

Hope that helped a little

1. Boo hoo. The 'I'm new' excuse died with the Green sprites.
But... Those are sprites made by Nintendo =O...
But yeah, your newer ones are better, but you had just recieved excellent advice.. Incase you dunno how to take the colors from another sprite, click on a thing that looks like an eye-dropper, or a dropper of some-sort... And then click over the color you want to use...
And you can simply drag the mouse if you want, we're not stopping you or anything... But to make it look better, get rid of some of the pixals (like in that sprite sheet) making it look bad.. And well, it will help to color some of the outlines to a color close to the original thing.... (Like what was used in Nevermore's sheet.) And they do need more shading... Like when you look at one of Nintendo's latest sprites... Well I'm basically just repeating other's words... So good job improving, continue and take the crits like a women (women > Man :p) and you could be one of the best custom spriters online in no time!

They are really not very good at all. There isn't any shading or color outlining. The outline is blocky. Need some work.

Nevermore kinda cleared it all. :3

I knew that on the poll it was the last option, but it was insulting, so I just did "I dislike them".

Smoothening the outline doesn't just mean getting rid of the corner pixels. You need to edit the outline also, so things look rounder when you want them to be, for example, the head.

That's a huge improvement, but you still need to work on outlining. the green parts have all black outlines, and the red parts ahve all red outline. it needs black outline in the red shadow places and slightly paler outline on the red shine places.
same applies to the green bits, but, you know, with green..
copy the outline colours from the sprites you take colours from.

parasectdude

Yep, they're better than before, but I'd say try things like recolours and mixes first. I've been spriting for almost six months now and I still can't make any decent fakes. So I recommend doing the normal, much easier stuff like recolours, mixes, revamps and stuff at first, that's what I've always done. Also, use the guide I used on Dragonfree's site, www.dragonflycave.com, and the guides listed in the sticky near the top of the Fan Sprites page.

I've resisted the slight urge to say things like 'YOU'RE RUBBISH NEVER SPRITE AGAIN' and tried to help as much as I can. I hope it does.

OFF-TOPIC: Nevermore, how come you have a Horus custom avatar when you're not a mod?

He won that contest.

The red parts could have the outline be more like anti-alias so it looks more like a coloured spot than a bump.
