Competitive Pokemon that have greatly improved.

Let's see...since D/P changed its battling gameplay, some pokemon tend to be more powerful than how they were in R/S/E/FR/LG. Though I'm not positive about this, there could be pokemon that have been nerfed in competitive battling...I could be wrong, but anyway...

For example, let's take Gengar. Moves like Shadow Ball and Sludge Bomb aren't that great back in R/S/E/FR/LG. But now, in D/P, with those moves as special attacks, it's just...unstoppable. I might as well make an example moveset of Gengar (though it isn't really necessary to talk about movesets):

Shadow Ball
Sludge Bomb
Psychic/Thunderbolt/Destiny Bond
Psychic/Thunderbolt/Destiny Bond

Let's see...what other pokemon have greatly improved since the dawn of D/P?

I can name 2 fire pokemon.

improved: Rapidash (physical fire-type Flare Drive!)
Got the shaft: Flareon (didn't get Flare Drive, even though it was the PERFECT pokemon to get it)

I think Porygon has improved. With a new evolved form, and more special attacks, it's almost invincible.

Here's a Porygon's ideal moveset, IMO.

Ice Beam
Signal Beam
Hyper Beam/Thunderbolt
Psychic

Since PorygonZ's special attack is tied with Alakazam's, PorygonZ will probably become as popular in competitive play.

Hitmonchan can finally use all the Elemental Punches properly, and he even gets a recovery move in Drain Punch.

~Kingler ; now has access to STAB physical moves
~Crawdaunt ; see above
~Butterfree ; can use STAB special moves now

Most pokémon that have improved we're just unlucky previously. Example : Water was classified special back then so Kingler was almost useless.
