I'm planning to use an Espeon on my Ruby team and I'm currently breeding Eevees. I have two that look promising: one is Timid nature, which is the ideal nature for Espeon; the other is Hardy, which is neutral, but it appears to have a near-perfect IV in Sp Att (according to the IV calculator). Which one should I use? Also, this is the moveset that I was planning to use:

Espeon
Psychic
Bite
Calm Mind
Baton Pass

Use Teh Timid Espeon. Unless you want a Psychic to be an OHKO. -.-;
Also.
BATON PASS?
Oh My God NO.
How About Shadow Ball?
And If you need healing, Morning Sun.
Seriosly,
Why do you need Baton Pass?
Calm Mind Is Great Wit Psychic though. :p
Bite Is Good For Ghoasties.
But Baton Pass? Once Again. NO NO.

I know that Timid is the recommended nature for Espeon. My question is: What is more important, good IVs or a good nature?

Bite on espeon still does more damage than shadow ball. Baton Passing Calm Minds can actually be quite effective, but you need some sort of healing if you are going to BP, unless you can get a good substitute up (vaporeon maybe?)
Also, use the timid one.

I know that Timid is the recommended nature for Espeon. My question is: What is more important, good IVs or a good nature? Normally, a good nature is more important, but if the IV's are horrible, then the nature still won't do you as much good. Some of it just depends on what set you're using.

Either espy is good, but DO NOT listen to wesheg don't use Shadow Ball you have bite for that type coverage, also you could use baton pass with those stats. Also use morning sun/HP fire(for metagross) in place of baton pass if you want.
I don't know if this is a good set but

Espeon@leftovers
timid/Hardy
sunny day
HP Fire
morning sun
psychic

The EV's are up to you;004;;149;

It works In MD. D:
And What Does HP Fire Mean?
But Once Again I say.
Calm Mind and Psychic are a good match. :p
So You Should Include Calm Mind.

I'm going to use Baton Pass because I want to breed an team of BPing Eeveelutions (already have Jolteon :)). BTW, can offspring breed with one of the parents?

I am currently leveling up the Eevees in my Fire Red to get a more accurate IV calculation.

EDIT: Just checked the IVs, and looks like I'll be using the Timid one.

HP fire means Hidden Power Fire. Psychic and calm mind do work well but I think this would also. Shadow ball wouldn't work though you've got to low of a physical attack and bite already covers the types shadow ball dpes and has more power on Espy. Use something else.

BigCharizard

The problem with Hidden Power is that it's hard to get the right type in-game, and the power is usually pretty low. I would never use Shadow Ball on Espeon.

I usually Don't get Hidden Power.
My Charizard Has It, And It Is Not Effective to anything. -.-;

Oh so true but if you could get it then that's great. If not go

Psychic
calm mind
morning sun/sub(really works well if you pull it off)
baton pass

If you use sub use max HP.

But Why Only One Attack?
If you don't have Max Elexirs..
Then What would you do? ...

BigCharizard

Well, if you ran out of PP, which would be unlikely because Calm Minds + Psychic = OHKOs, you could Baton Pass to the next sweeper.

I'll wait and see what Hidden Power my Eevee gets, and then decide if I should use it.

Yeah if you run out of PP you can baton pass. It's a really good set.

You baton pass to the next pokemon. Besides, espeon has an extremely limited movepool. If bigcharizard was going to use this in link battles, espeon would not run out of PP.

There is time in R/S/E. You just can't evolve it into Espeon/Umbreon in FR/LG.

There is time in ruby spphire and emerald, its the only 3rd generation game with time, not sure about game cube games though.

I'm trying to get my Eevee to evolve, and I'm not sure how tame it is. The lady in Verdanturf says that it wants to be babied or something. How close is that to max happiness? Also, what are some good ways to improve tameness in Ruby?

Shadow Flame

you could use the soothe bell or give it lots of vitaminse.g. HP up, ect., ect. and just carry it aropund and use it in battle just don't let it faint.

You know that you could've stoppped the evolution.

aquasuicune

Why hadn't you evolved it earlier? You can get a flareon as soon as you get the eevee. Or were you going for a certain move?

pkmn_luver_95
27th December 2006, 12:17 AM
the only problem with evolving evee into flareon when it's at a high level is because all the best moves are learned at the low levels, such as flamethrower, which is learned at lv 16. If you miss it, then you have to get all that money and get all those coins to get flamethrower from the mauville game corner :(

Reno
27th December 2006, 12:19 AM
which is why you use the move guy in fallabor.

Shadow Flame
28th December 2006, 12:33 AM
flamethrower isn't learned at lv 16 it's learned at 52. ember is learned at 16. the only good move he learns in the lower levels is quickattack anyway.
