Sounds like the past version of Death Note.

I like Shaman King until they started the Shaman Fight or whatever they call it. Now it's just....meh.

For some reason, many mangas seem a lot better before the big plot came along, imo (Shaman King, Yugioh, Bleach....yeah, you heard me).

That's because they usually start off pretty unique and fun to read (like the ones you listed). Then the main plot kicks in and they become generic shounen (once again, like the ones you listed).

NO.

Death Note started out amazing...and then it's final level was as good as Shaman King's opening.

So yeah, Shaman King's good start is equaled to Death Note's low end.

Death Note's End = Shaman's Beginning

Death Note's Beginning >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Shaman King's Beginning

I thought it was a decent series. I did like how they would have the character make funny little expressions in serious situations, and the slightly truthy exploration of other cultures, but I believe the manga never finished.

Oh, and "Oh my Jesus!" was the best line in an Anime ever.

I like Shaman King, but I think the ending was very bad. It started off really well, and had a lot of potential, but then it just ended, without even finishing the damned tournament >>

No, it just wasn't popular any more.

But still, he could have thought of something better than this.

Way to provide closure! And then give us a followup set 6 years afterwards giving us a cloaked figure without any actual explanation on what the hell happened!

That is very true. I guess they could have thought of a better ''Ending'' Than that. The follow up was crazy

Both endings are equally horrible.

Yoh goes to sleep, in a dream sees Hao in a princess outfit, and Yoh and the gang get ready to rescue her. The end.

You know what?

I am going to read the whole Shaman King series.

Tonight.

It can get me some ideas on my manga, and I want to see what happens after I stopped around...Chapter 132.

I'll start from the beggining and end with Yoh dreaming about Hao in a girl's outfit.

No... WAY
It ended sooooo differently in America.
....
But now, I really think I like the American ending.
I loved Shaman King,alot.
I watched it on tv, but now I don't trust dubbed anime(is that what they're called?) So Iam reading the manga series.
But, wow, what a dumb way to end.

The anime ending was different from the manga. It isn't an "American ending".

So the ending they used in America(4Kids and all) Is the same one they used in Japan?
Manga ending and anime ending are different, really? I mean, I knew sometimes that the anime is completely different from the manga, but I didn't know it ended differently.

That has to be the stupidest ending I've ever heard. It's sad to hear a manga I enjoy ended that way, now I'm not even interested in reading it anymore. :/

I am rereading all the series over and getting into the Faust arc.

And I most say, Faust is one of the only reasons this manga was pretty good.

But HoroHoro is heh.

Ren sucks.

Haven't gotten to Chocolave...but what from I remember...

God, why did they need a Comedy Shaman?

Shaman King is cool. I like it, and the art.

As for the ending, I haven't read it yet. But, Shaman King got 'cancel', so I'm guessing why it didn't have a 'good' ending.

Token black shaman.

That and a character design that puts me into "Black Power Activist" mode with my magical "Soapbox of Racial Guilt".

Complete with vile thoughts of burning down Takei's apartment, among others...

They are bringing it out in the Netherlands right now. They just released volume six. I buy them because they rock, especially Faust VIII. They release each volume two months after each other.

Out of curiousity, what do you guy think about the X-Laws? They say they fight for justice and that they are emissaries of light, but I don't think that's true, they killed Boris-san without a second thought. Is that truely justice? Killing someone they deem evil?

They believe what they are doing it justice, just like somebody else may believe what they're doing is wrong.

Well, Justice is a matter of perception. Your hero can be someone else's enemy and reverse.

OK does anyone want Shaman Knig to restart or get past the point it was at when it ended in Japan in the Shonen Jump Mangas
