People were expecting this to be a filler, it was better than that. It's not every day you see two members of Team Rocket decide to HELP with the Pokemon du jour.

The stop-and-start motto performance was funny too.

I've only seen the pics so far, and the episode looks pretty funny.

What happened with the Electrike guy and Staravia at the start?

While relaxing, the gang was suddenly attacked by an upset Electrike who was running blindly at them and firing off random Thunder attacks. Ash got hit by one of them. Staravia just happened to be right next to him. Then the breeder guy caught up to Electrike, apologized, introduced himself, and explained what was going on.

Hahahahaha. Ash sure gets electrocuted a lot in this episode.

James and Meowth decided to help Electrike themselves while Jessie is left as the usual villain to try and steal it. That break the chain.

Say, what attacks did Electrike used again? I can't tell from the screenshots.

While I still don't see where the idea of showcasing a random Hoenn Pokemon came from, I was honestly expecting this episode to be worse. While TR can be, admittedly, obnoxious at times, it's moments like these that make me glad they're still on the show. Some of the greatest moments come from times when the main gang and the Rockets work together. And that motto was damn funny, especially with the theme music suddenly winding down each time James spoke. Speaking of music, wasn't that a Movie 9 track that played after Electrike evolved? About time.

My Japanese is a little rusty, but I believe Yuusuke (the filler dude) was talking about how awesome Staravia was, and wanted to make out with it on the spot.

But I could be wrong.

Eh, this episode looks ok to me. My extreme hatred for all Hoenn pokemon is one of the reasons I will probaby hate this ep, but like ya'll said up yonder(Im trying it out), I will watch it due to TR love of being cuuurazy, and suprising us time after time.....wow, I just had a flashback while writing this about Napoleon Dynamite..

Geodude

Because they were touched by how Pikachu was helping Electrike and how it was trying so hard and stuff.

Is it really that hard to let someone who actually saw the episode answer instead of wasting time with random guesses?

Anyway, Yusuke's Rakurai used Charge and Thunderbolt, while the leader's used Charge and Thunder. After evolving, Yusuke's Livolt used Charge and Thunder as well.

Poor Ash--been a while since he's been specifically shocked this many times. No wonder he was scared to be a moving bullseye(even though I bet it was rubber-coated).

I dunno either, but I'm glad they got a chance to properly showcase Electrike(you think PUSA can utilize the neat effect to its dub voice, like in the Mauville Gym episode[ultimately forgotten in the rematch since it only appeared for 30 seconds]?). OMG, Iwane made it so cute~:3

Most fashionable jackets ever. Or to be more accurate...dem jackets be stylin', yo!

I've only had the chance to look through pics of this ep so far, but...is it just me, or did Electrike look a tad off in this episode? Maybe I'm just not used to seeing it in the anime since it had all of half an episode to itself in Houen, give or take a few fifths of an ep.

TR(well, the male portion of it) deciding to help Electrike out was unexpected, but then again, James was always a softie and Meowth...is rather unpredictable. And of course, Jessie had to come in with her...pink ballerina robot?...to ruin everything.

WHY are they showing a Hoenn Pokémon?!
This IS the Diamond and Pearl series isn't it?
Why couldn't they show a new electric Pokémon like... Rotom or something?!
Mabye they plan on taking their time with this series.

It was one of the worsts D/P episodes.

Ash and co. took a rest in the Pkmn Center. They met a sexy guy who had troubles with his Electrike. Ash and co. was ready to help poor Electrike with shooting Thunders to the target. Pachirisu and Pikachu did it well and Electrike adored them (as always Pikachu was in the center of attention). Brock gave the trainer few advices how to care about Electrike. Jessie wanted to steal Electrike and Pikachu. She was beat by Electrike`s Thunder (horray, it worked), Electrike evolved. The happy trainer was grateful for help. The end.

I have seen similar plot bilion times. They should have done the episode about Luxio. I dont get it, why they put the old gen pokemon to the episode.

I see only one positive part of this epi: James and Meowth helped Electrike. James is a good guy.

Well I guess I better write up a summary.

Ash and co. are resting at a nearby lake, when a gigantic column of lightning almost hits them. They then see an Electrike charging at them. They freak out, and Ash then get zapped. The Electrike's trainer, a breeder by the way, comes up and apologizes. After introductions, the breeder (Joco, I think it was?) remarks that flying types are way better then electric types. Electrike gets sad. Joco's teacher comes. Anyway, the gang's invited to see the...the...Electric...Electric Breeding place. Basically, it seems Electric pokemon are trained here to gain control of their attacks, before being shipped off to power a power plant. Joco's teacher comes with an Electrike, and shows what true control is. There are 3 targets. The teachers Electrike uses Charge, then thunder, and the Electrike controls the thunder to go left, up, and down before hitting the target. Joco's Electrike tries, and zaps Ash. Joco remarks that his Electrikes a failure. Brock checks it, and says it's perfectly fine. Team Rocket's watching. Jessie wants to steal the Electrike. James and Meowth say

"That Electrike's got issues!"

Jessie wants to wait, seeing as how the twerps will train it well. Joco tries to brush Electrike....with a METAL brush....ZAP. Brock does some quick teaching to him, Faith and all that. Joco's Electrike practices again , and zaps Ash. Joco wonders what went wrong. Brock says timing and asks if Ash and Dawn would demonstrate. Pikachu succeeds, but Pachirisu zaps Ash. Pachirisu gets a poffin, and succeeds. Brock says that he thinks Electrike is stronger then a normal Electrike, so it has problems controlling it's power. It's night. Brock is making pokemon food. Joco comes in and remarks how much food he's making. Brock says that with a lot of pokemon, there needs to be a lot of food. Oitside, Pikachu is teaching Electrike. Pikachu thunderbolts a dead tree. Electrike tries, and misses (barely). Electrike get sad. Pikachu does a pep talk, and blasts another tree. James and Meowth are watching. They remark how much of a team the twerps are. Jessie gets impatient and says to steal it now. Motto!

Listen is that the voice of twerpy gloom?

Join our pity party, there's plenty of room.

Bringing chaos at a breakneck pace!

She's dashed all my hope, what a....bummer

A rose by any other name is just as sweet!

When everything gets worse, then of course, it gets worse

Jessie!

James the pain

I can't bear to say my name

Putting all you dogooders in their place!

Team Rocket, sad to say.

We're in your face!

Ouch.

James and Meowth restrain Jessie from stealing Electrike. She runs away. Ash thinks he dreaming. Electrike pratices, and manages to hit the traget. Ash, James, and Meowth become moving targets. Their wearing insulated jackets. Ash isn't happy, the rockets say their used to it. They eventually rush into a forest.

Jessie comes to steal Electrike in the Potent Pink Princess Power 1. It snatched Electrike. Pikachu tries to zap it, but it's insulated. Electrike evolves! Jessie runs away with Pikachu. James and Meowth jump onto the robots. Meowth slice a hole into the metal robots, and reveals a spinning gear, that is somehow an insulator. Electrike fires a Thunder. Jessie runs all over the place, but the Thunder moves to hit it. Magnetric has mastered Electric control! Magnetric leaves to go to the Power Plant.

One of the not so good D/P eps IMO. I had ome funny scenes but the plot was a bit over-done. All what Brock said was pretty much basic facts which the other guy should know. Instead they built a plot around it. The part with James helping out was good, showing once again that he is a nice guy in heart.

6/10 points.

I liked the fact that the character-of-the-day wasn't just another random person having trouble with a Pokemon, he actually had a reason for his problems. He was a Flying-specialist breeder who had to deal with an Electric-type for the first time.

James: *taunts* "You ca-an't hit me!"
Ash: "Joke all you want, I'm gettin' outta here!"

Bill Rogers shows us his versatility once again with the voice of Electrike.

Manetric's voice sounded a little like Miss Piggy. I'd never thought I'd her both Pokémon and Muppet's together ever.

Cal is pretty much James and Oak all rolled into one. It's kind of interesting that they decided on using another character name from the G/S/C days.

After seeing the ep 2 times I have to raise my point to 7/10 p. Ash outbursts was great (someone is out to get me, what is it with me and thundershocks etc.) but still, I think it/the ep had some flaws overall that are unusual for D/P. And I do wonder why they had the plot be about a Hoen Pokemon and not a Sinnoh Pokemon. "Pachu" was unbelivable cute. Remember that it is (for me) a weak D/P ep, which means it is still a great ep, but not up to the usual D/P ep standard.

(I had originally considered posting this following comment on my DS, but unfortunately due to lack of knowledge on how to post the text on the typing screen to the actual top screen message. In short, I had something but now I don')

^Now that you know, here's what I am going to say:

I personally thought I was a rather funny filler. Now, seeing as how Staravia is Ash's I'm kinda curious as to why he didn't say anything about it. It was a different kind of episode, that's for sure. The best part about it was the fact that James and Meowth decided to go against Jessie's wishes, simply because they found Elektrike and... (crap forgot the guy's name) "c-o-t-d" were a better team than they were and found it inspiring. So, they decided to help. Not only that, but they even messed up the music for the motto to reflect how they were feeling, and I couldn't stop laughing. You don't usually see this often.

Lots of good jokes like Ash better jolted every so often, then actually commenting on it were some good moments. Also, the fact that it was only after Manectric evolves that it perfects it's skills highly remind me of the Snorunt we all used to know who only got Ice Beam down pat till after it had evolved to Glalie.

Overall, a decent episode that has a great sense of humour. Same usual filler, but a funny one at that.

All of the Ash-centric violence was an amusing sub plot. It was the beginning of a boy questioning his accursed fate. "Somebody's out to get me!"

Jaco was a very active character in this, enough so to deserve a change of clothes. Even a towel so he could pretend to be working out. Brock didn't get that.

Some great work into the TR motto

"Bringing chaos? at a breakneck pace!"
"She's dashed all my hope. What a...bummer."

James and Meowth should have kept their black jackets, later they could pull off a mob look. Well actually..so much for having a conscience, they never retured the insulated coats!

Being what it is, it scores not a pick more than a 6/10 to me.

The overall plot for this episode was run of the mill, but I really enjoyed James and Meowth's part in it. Haven't we seen enough of the darn thunder cats? Seriously, what's the problem with having a few other-gen Pokemon mixed into the Sinnoh region? If there were ONLY Sinnoh Pokemon in the Sinnoh region, the games and anime would fail. Besides Electrike family > Shinx family any day. Why do you think they replaced the Luxio tribe in PMD:T/D with an Electrike tribe in PMD:EotS?

This is an episode that would feel like a total waste of time if it weren't for a few wonderful character moments. I'm speaking of the human characters, as while Electrike is a cool little Pokemon that didn't get enough love in Hoenn, I don't care for its role here too much. For starters, the fact that Takeshi lifts a finger is noteworthy. For as little actual breeding as we see him do, it's nice to see him take up a mentor position in the field for once. However, Kojiro and Nyasu are the episode's highlights, and while it's not the first time we've seen them rebel against Musashi, it always marks a great TR character turn of events.

Granted, the episode is very thin and run-of-the-mill in terms of plot. When you strip away the great character moments, you are essentially left with a Johto filler. COTD with problem, Pokemon has issues, gang helps out, TR steals Pokemon, Pokemon gathers strength and defeats TR, problem solved. Basically the standard formula complaint that people continue to use based on the occasional episode like this (in spite of the fact that this type of formula is rarer than it had been in prior sagas, you fandom brain surgeons...). And considering how the last Electrike we saw also evolved, I could have done without Manectric here. This is not a bad episode by any means, but you're better off following the character interaction rather than the story.

I completely agree with you. The writers could have replaced Electrike/Manectric with Shinx/Luxio. I also believe that this episode should have aired a few seasons ago, when Ash & Brock were traveling with May and Max. What a bummer. :( In my opinion, this is one of the worst episodes of this season.

Worst. Filler. In. Sinnoh. Ever. I mean that very seriously. This episode wasn't very fun at all, especially since they chose a boring Generation 3 Pokemon like Electrike to showcase rather than a new Pokemon or something with a little more bit in it. This episode was ok... It was cool to see an Elektrike again. It was funny when Ash and TR in suits with a Target on the back, and moved around trying to get Elektrike to be able to be on target with its Thunderbolt Attack. It was a cool way of training, charging up with Charge and then Being able to direct its Thunderbolt attack. It was cool for Elektrike to evolve into a Manectric and pass the test. It was funny during the motto when the music stopped every time James' line came up.

Not the best filler episode, aside from a few good moments from James and Meowth. The same plot still being rehashed to death is what made this episode bad in general. I thought it was going to be focused on Brock. What a shame to be honest. Considering Jaco was a breeder, Brock should have stepped up to the plate instead of Ash hogging all the limelight again.
