I was watching the Pickachu in charge and I noticed that Ash's Aipom was wearing a dress. I didn't know it was a girl. Now I'm wondering what are the genders of the rest of the gang's pokemon.
Post what genders you think each pokemon are from the gang(Ash, Brock, and Dawn).

Most of Ash's Pokemon are male, but Bayleef and Aipom are females, I think.

Same goes to Brock, except his Sudowoodo

And all of Dawn's Pokemon are Female, except Buizel, probably.

Dawn's electric guy is Both genders. It seems like it!

All of Ash's Pokémon are male except Bayleef and Aipom.
Dawn's Pokémon are all female except Buizel.
All of Brock's Pokémon are male except Happiny.
May's Pokémon are female except Blaziken and Munchlax.
Misty's Psyduck, Gyarados and Politoad are they only male Pokémon she has.

Basically, most of the Pokémon a trainer has are the same gender as him/her. Except the odd one, sometimes.

Aipom has been called a "boy" in the dubbed anime, but it was called a "girl" in the original, so I guess you can all believe what you want. I, personally, believe that it's a girl, though.

I recently saw Professor oak call professor Ivy a guy and then Misty says it's a girl in the very next line

Oak: He lives on some island (i can't remember the islands name)
Misty: Why can't you send it to Her

Trust me it was distinct, when oak said Ivy was a guy

The dub is quite bad when it comes to this (sometimes)

dman_dustin, what episode was that?

But yes, Aipom's a girl in both versions. Proven in "Pikachu's In Charge!"

Proffesor Ivy is a girl. What do ya think was the actual reason why Brock stayed there for a while.

I thought swellow was a boy until it evolved and started saying "staravia", then i knew it was totally a girl, no guy staravia should sound like that

Ash -
Pikachu: Male
Aipom: Female
Staravia: As of yet, I'm not sure, but I assume it's male.
Turtwig: Male

Dawn -
Piplup: Male
Buneary: Female (Because I don't think she's lesbian. =P Besides, the fact Buneary has a crush on Pikachu is actually a hint to their respective genders.)
Buizel: Male
Pachirisu: Female

Brock -
Sudowoodo: Male
Croagunk: Male
Happiny: Definitely female.

Yeah, because we all know how the dub voices for the pokémon are always 100% accurate to personallity and gender, right? Right.

I think the fact people apply human standards for voice pitch/looks on Animal-like creatures is just idotic.

"Starly has a high pitch voice...like...like a girl!"

Because, you know, MY neighborhood birds sound like Barry White using the Darth Vader sythesizer voice.

EDIT: Wait, did he just say Swellow evolved into Staravia?

Hearsay!

LOL and ash's pikachu isn't exactly a tough male like voice and we all know it is a male.

Well, to be fair...that's usually how it is anyway, at least in the japanese version. I mean, you listen to Kimori, Heigani or Naetle for the first time, before we got to know a little more about them. There's no way you could consider any of those guys female, just by voice alone.

Meanwhile, the dub is usually content with giving a pokémon any old crap and sticking with it.

King Of Steel

Then if that applies, Pikachu should be a girl because of its voice actress. -_-

Fair enough.

Of course with Kimori and Naetle, we kinda had other species with very very higher voices that were obviously supposed to be female.

My point was there was a dub mistake, dubs tend to make a lot ofmistake

dman_dustin, what episode was that?

But yes, Aipom's a girl in both versions. Proven in "Pikachu's In Charge!" Pallet Party Panic, but I'm going to recheck just to make sure the pronoun wasn't muttered or misheard, although to me it sounded pretty clear

edit: Just watched it Professor Oak does say "He", while misty says "her" oh well
