Absolutely loved it. It was performed almost flawlessly and once again, Croagunk saves the day. Pokemons brand of fusion was pretty awesome.

Also, did Mismagius just want to have people to play with or not?

Back by unpopular demand, it’s bullet-style review time!

- Ash and co have officially stepped into the Twilight Zone.
- Shirona is indeed commanding Rayquaza, but nobody seems to be commanding Groudon.
- Hikari’s Mother the Socialist sends out FEEBAS - GOD OF ALL THAT IS SACRED.
- Yay for lots of Movie 9 music in this one.
- Come to think of it, when was the last time James’ bottlecap collection was referenced?
- I swear that badge in the bottom-right looks just like the Triforce. Conclusion? INEVITIBLE CROSSOVER!
- Kids, this is what happens when you don’t regularly use your stylus to clean your badges.
- Rayquayzius sprite fusions are inevitable. Pokesho will most definitely do one.
- Giant Pikachu, giant Piplup, giant Croagunk, NO GIANT MUKUBIRD!? =/

In spite of the animation being eye garbage (Is that the opposite of eye candy?), this was a great format-bending episode. Definitely up there with the Unown one in terms of bizarre-ness, but weirdness has a tendency to be enjoyable, and this proved no exception. I even laughed at a few bits (mainly the Brock and Meowth moments). More fillers like this, please.

If there is one quote I can take from this episode in order to describe it, it would have to be; 'D-d-d-dan-dance, d-dan, dance!'. I mean, really, that just says it all.

I wish some of the pokémon could have taken part in this. It'd have been fun to see what each of their dreams and nightmares are, especially with characters like Buneary and Croagunk. Ahh well. Maybe in the future, eh?

The opposite of eye candy is eye brocoli.

Did anyone else here see the clothes dawn was wearing on the page 12 of the pics of the episode that she got from her mom. They look pretty okay.

I'm more surprised that apparently Johanna has mastered the art of being a Digimon Tamer, since now screaming "SHINKA!" evolved Feebas (and took out half of Dawn's points?).

Um, that high-pitch fat guy looked very simmilar to Spielbunk from Kanto, and that Butler looked familliar too....

Speaking of familliar, I swear that announcer that laughed and changed into Mismagius has been in episodes before as well. Maybe...maybe he's the announcer we hear all the time but never see?!

cassius335
17th August 2007, 8:13 PM
Either Mismagus' psychic influence is really strong or Dawn and Ash REALLY need to work on their situational awareness. Dawn's mother commanding Feebas to evolve (and Dawn losing points because of it) should have been a major alarm bell. Nice dress, Dawn, but kindly lose the hat. :p

Hope that's not the last time we see two Pokemon fusing. It's long past time they got round to that concept. Yeah, this time wasn't real, but still...

They really need to work on Symphonic Meleody's timing. Love the Flying Volt Tackle, something else I'd like to see again.

That's just not right, Rayquaza came out of a pokeball! (Look at page 5. And it's clear that Cynthia threw the pokeball, not anyone else.)

I think the fact the Pokecenter looked like a fruitcake was kinda...now, I'm saying, kinda suspicious...but I mean, seeing Professor Oak who lives in a whole 'nother region popping up alongside Dawn's mom who just happened to know where they are seemed perfectly logical.

Honestly, I didn't realize it was a dream till Brock explained it to me.

lol, I love how we finally go to see the what the announcer looked like. Even though it was completely random, since he wasn't on the field before. <_< Made me lol. And I also liked all the movie nine music, especially the one playing when Dawns mom came out...

I also want to mention how awesome Mis Quaza looked. Awesomeness.

And another thing...I don't think the animation was that bad...sure there wasn't a lot of motion, but...it wasn't that off model at least. :) and the background looked nice. >_>

Ash or Brock should've caught the Mismagius. It was painful for me to watch them leave him/her. Ash's Haunter acted similar to the Mismagius, by the way, so it would've been a good catch for either of them.

The problem is, Zoey already has a Misdrevous, which will probably evolve by the end of the saga. Usually, there aren't two Pokémon from the same family being showcased by main characters and rivals.

As for the episode, I loved how it was handled. Chalk another Pokémon I hated pre-animé showcase as one of the Pokémon I like now. The fact that Brock was the one that managed to snap them out of the illusion was also good.

And coming to a Digimon episode near you, it's Johanna and her amazing "SHINKA!" Febass.

Most of Ash's Hoenn team appeared prior to him obtaining them, either with minor (Treecko, Swellow, Corphish, ) or him battling them (Sceptile, Donpahn, Grovyle, he had a friggen Gym Battle with Torkoal!)

But I doubt he'll get Mismagius since it'll be owned eventually by a reappaearing character.

The episode was excellent and very interesting in terms of plot but the animation was as wacky as it could be.

I love Mismagius' look but didn't like so much that laugh it had.

By the way, the voices were really fluid this time and not forced, especially Dawn's. Great improvement.

It's kind of nice to know I've been pronouncing Mismagius's name right this whole time.

Jenny's, Joy's, and poision jabbing Croagunks? Oh my.

Is it me, or is Hyper Beam the most over used attack this season? Team Rocket blasting off four times from it was funny though.

I have to say this isn't the best filler episode, but it defenitly had its merits.

When Mismagius was laughing, was that Sarah Natochenny doing it, or was that pulled from its original voice track?

Rodger Parsons should've been the announcer for the other two episodes with them rather than Jimmy Zoppi. His voice is so much cleaner and better.

Hilarious ep. Unlike every other ghost Pokemon ep (such as Maidens Peak or the one were the original trio was stuck in some mansion controlled by a Pokemon etc.). The way of esacping the dream while at the same time establish Ash and Dawns real dreams was great. Dawn looked cute in her outfit. I loved Ash and Dawns way of speaking to each other (which follows through D/P). Dawns "you fooled me" is way better than May or Misty who just sighted at his commentaries about food. Kinda like the way they spoke in the Poke Mart in Steamboat Willies.

The scenes were Dawns mum and Oak drags Dawn and Ash by their hands into the light from the Stadium is so going to be parts of some Pearlshipping video, even if it [the scene] has nothing to do with them in a romantic way.

TR was probably the least fun thing, they were funny yes but could have been handled different. Maybe they could have been in charge of the whole TR organisation. The battles was not great but they was never supposed to be because of the dream. They were supposed to be symbolic.

8/10 points. D/P really is a great saga. :D

I thought this episode was pretty stupid. There were a few parts i really enjoyed though. I thought it was so funny with Nurse Joy in the beginning when she was like your brock right? They Brock acted like a normal person and was so shocked. I also loved ash and pikachu's faces. I LOL'd when Johanna told Dawn she was selected to compete for the same reason as ash. Not just that but i LOVED Mismagius when she laughed it sounded like an old lady.

I actually thought this episode was bad.It made both the heroes and the villains happy for a change, which was good. But the episode had absolutely NO logic.Pikachu doesn't beat Rayquaza,Piplup doesn't beat Milotic, and technically,EVERYTHING that was just an illusion should have disappeared. And,creators,GIVE BROCK SOME FREAKING LOVE!I'm also mad whenever Dawn is happy.

Korobooshi Kojiro

Well, it was a dream, so obviously logic was thrown out the window. It was Brock who helped save the day (involuntarily thanks to Croagunk).

I thought the change from the usual tune up in this episode was great. Even the new spin to this theme, chasing desires was pushed much further than Ninetales, and the acid trip was intentional humor, unlike the Unown. And so many guest appearances: people, pokemon, badges.

The music played unsually soft, I couldn't detect it until everyone stopped speaking in the later half even. Piplup VS Milotic got some nice themes.

All that pointing by Joanna made her seem a little pootin' tootin' gunslinger (http://www.filb.de/content/anime/dp043/072.jpg). But it looked like a move to one up Oak's original jab (http://www.filb.de/content/anime/dp043/069.jpg).

Oak's theme took me by surprise, but his two-liner piece of work left me shuddering again. Given a few seconds, I'd do even worse.

The Groudon VS Rayquaza scene just looked like a big screwup on somebody's part. There was some unheard of(?) soothing rock playing in the back, far too inappropriate in a duel of legends. I would think battles don't get more exilirating than this. The announcer didn't help to this at all, "like blazing magma, Groudon's fighting spirit has been ignited" was apparently a line not worthy of emotion. But the blame also goes to Groudon for standing, even facing like a doll (http://www.filb.de/content/anime/dp043/106.jpg). The budget there must have been no deeper than my pocket.

That announcer redemed himself with an evil cough later in the show.

Rayquaza has a neat flight pattern, it wasn't this elusive in the movie. I'm glad it got in a couple of good twisters, even an Ice beam, over Hyperbeams.

The highlight was definitely the scenery, two interesting pokemon centers, new/old stadium, temple/gate structure, and some random weeds (http://www.filb.de/content/anime/dp043/335.jpg) whose name I can't remember.

Mismagius's minor role didn't bother me at all, since it'll get a spotlight with Fantina.

This episode rocked. Great stuff with Brock and Croagunk. Lots of good fighting, TR was actually funny with the multiple blast offs, and it was kinda neat to see Meowth get to be with his beloved Giovanni (at least in a, shall we say, "Boss Fantasy"?)

Glad to see I wasn't the only one who noticed this episode had some slightly off model animation. Not the worst yet in Diamond & Pearl by far but still noticeable.

I was also was thinking one of them should have tried to catch Mismagius when it was collapsed on the ground. Lastly, am I the only one who thought Joanna was doing a Sailor Moon homage? You know, "In the name of the moon, I shall punish you"

I rarely find myself bursting out laughing from watching Pocket Monsters, but this episode did it for me. Seeing Takeshi's ultimate fantasy degrade into dozens of Junsas and Jois with Greggle faces pummeling the hell out of him was pure gold. Also,

If there is one quote I can take from this episode in order to describe it, it would have to be; 'D-d-d-dan-dance, d-dan, dance!'. I mean, really, that just says it all.
Stuff like this really strengthens my belief that Takeshi is a worthwhile member of the cast and gives me more faith in the writers.

Though even for the humor that Takeshi provided us, the Kojirou-tachi's dream was perhaps just as good. We get to see Sakaki pampering Nyasu and Kojirou in a bottlecap frenzy, but of course nothing can ever work out for them.

In addition to the comedy, I liked the whole mindf*** aspect in general (though it was fairly obvious it was a dream from the start) and it's great to get outside the box episodes like this now and then.

Love love love this episode! So much good stuff in there. Dreams of legendary Pokémon, mountains of badges & ribbons & girls... and Croagunk Poison Jabs everyone back to reality X)

I also liked Mismagius in this episode. In fact, this episode sold me on the positives of a Mismagius. Really. Don't laugh ¬¬ Great episode!

I wonder if some of those badges are fake or future badges that will be revealed some day...

Hilarious episode. Giant Piplup, Pikachu and Croagunk pummeling Rayquaza, Team Rocket blasting off multiple times, army of Joy and Jenny-Croagunks and all those badges and ribbons. Very funny.

Interesting and really cool epsiode. I really liked it. The best thing was when Mismagius mixed itself up with Rayquaza... The only thing I hated is when Dawn loose all those points after Feebass evoloved into that ugly fish!:@

Aside from the awful animation and sort of an anticlimax with Muumage, this is a really fun filler. For one, it's fomat-bending and off-the-wall creative. It may have benefitted more had the viewer been as left in the dark as much as the characters themselves, but regardless, this episode is full of awesome moments. It may not be a canon role, but the fact that Shirona does get a speaking role here is pretty cool, as are the Ayako, Sakaki, and Orchid appearances. This is also about as much as a role in the anime as Rayquaza may ever get, so it's better than nothing. And those ribbon and badge cases, fake as they may be, nonetheless make for some nice screens.

TR's B-plot is pretty funny, with my favorite moment being Musashi's lover turning into Sonansu. From that to Kojiro's bottlecap chase to the revelation that Nyasu is Sakaki's cheap lover (okay, not really) to the continous "blast-off", they make up the highlight of this episode. I mentioned that the ending feels like sort of an anticlimax, where everyone is all like, "Yeah, whatever" with Muumage. I would like to have seen a battle there. In addition, they could have done something more interesting with Takeshi being woken up. Regardless, this is one of Sinnoh's better fillers, although I wish it swapped AD's with the Electrike episode.

As has been stated before, when I saw this episode I found it interesting that Ash's dream badge case had forty badges in it, even though there have only been thirty-two so far that have been revealed (not counting the Orange Islands).

All the illusions were funny but I wish most could have happened like Dawn versus her mom.

Mismagius' debut left something to be desired but it got another chance with Fantina.

It was great to see Ash "defeats" Cynthia, and Dawn do the same with her mother.

And i loved to see Oak again, although it's wasn't really him.

This was a great episode. I enjoyed all the bizarreness that was going on and liked all the pokemon that appeared in this episode, especially the Rayquaza + Mismagius fusion, that was really cool. Overall great episode.

Good episode indeed if you ask me. I liked how Mismagius made them all dream about having their dreams come true. Ash having all the badges and Dawn having the ribbons and Brock having like a hundred Joys and Jennys (So does Croagunk Poison Jab Brock even when he is asleep, I wonder if it does the same when Brock is just dreaming of being with a girl without Mismagius doing it, because that's a bit stupid you can't control your dreams).

First episode Cynthia appeared in but it wasn't the real one since she was an Illusion. Dawn did end up battling her mother too in the future episodes doesn't she?
I liked the Mismagius fusing with Rayquaza it was interesting.

And poor TR's dreams became nightmares of being blasted off constantly

This episode was amazing. For a sec I thought Dawn is the Grand Festival winner. but it was an illusion, of course.
Mismagius' shouldn't have done it. I don't want to see people suffering :(

This episode was ok... It was cool to see Mismagius for the 1st time. It was cool when Mismagius turned into a Rayquaza which caused the dream to turn into a nightmare. It was hilarius when Brock was dreaming of being surrounded by Nurse Joys and Officer Jennys and then all of a sudden turn into Croagunk, but in reality Croagunk woke him up. It was a very bizarre episode. It was cool to see Groudon in a dream as well.

I gotta say, I really enjoyed this episode! One of the best fillers in the DP series!
Brock's fantasy was the most humorous! XD

Oh god the title... I gotta be honest that is such a horrible title; and my reasoning for that is every time I hear "Malice In Wonderland"; a certain youtube video comes into mind.

Geez, this was a bizarre episode. Ash and Dawn achieved thier goals of becoming Pokémon Master and Top Coordinator, Brock got the girls......but it was all a Dream, which was created by a stupid Mismagius. I'm glad Pikachu, Piplup and Croagunk knocked that Mismagius out, it shouldn't have played with Ash, Dawn and Brock's minds. Overall, this episode was a bit disappointing.
But, I did like the Piplup outfit that Dawn wore for her final contest round, she looked pretty good in that outfit.

This is probably my all-time favourite Sinnoh episode. It's one of the few episodes in this series where Brock and Team Rocket were tolerable to me, and the plot seemed quite original in comparison to most late episodes. It was like some weird self-parody on the show, like Ash defeating Cynthia, winning all those badges and seemingly becoming a Pokemon Master, Brock being chased back by all the Officer Jennies and Nurse Joys he tried to hit on in the early years, and Team Rocket actually succeeding in some of their goals and blasting off multiple times in the same episode. It was quite bizarre, but I'm quite a sucker for dream sequence episodes, and this one also had quite a few good battles with Groudon and Rayquaza near the end. The moral of the story at the end was quite good too, reminding me of the Kanto/Orange Islands years of the show.

I found this episode to be hilarious. Seeing the illusion Nurse Joy and Officer Jenny fawning over Brock made me holler, as well as seeing Dawn's mom and Professor Oak randomly appear due to Mismagius as well. Seeing the fake Giovanni hug Meowth was so heartwarming tbh, and I liked seeing Groudon and Rayquaza illusions appear here too.
