I have heard about so many people getting so far in the battle tower, so I just wanted to know which pokemon every one was using to win so much.

My team all the way to 98 >_> :

Garchomp@yache berry

dragon claw
swords dance
EQ

Zapdos@ Life Orb
heat wave
hidden power (grass)
discharge

I used my Weavile, Uxie and Gengar to take down the battle tower singles. Weavile's Dark Pulse kept getting repeat flinches, and he took down 2 of Palmer's Pokemon. Uxie got taken down quickly though =\ I managed to get Gengar's Destiny Bond onto the last Pokemon but even though it was technically a draw it's still considered a loss for me D:

And it's possible to obtain a Dragon Dance Garchomp and a Calm Mind Starmie how...?

Anyways in the later rounds I use...

Yanmega @ Wide Lens
~ Protect
~ Hypnosis
~ Air Slash
~ Bug Buzz

Empoleon @ Petaya Berry
~ Substitute
~ Grass Knot
~ Surf
~ Agility

Garchomp @ Choice Band
~ Earthquake
~ Outrage
~ Fire Fang
~ Stone Edge

...to great effect.

For the first 49 I use:

Dragonite @ Expert Belt
Naughty - Inner Focus
252 Atk / 238 Spd / 20 Hp
-Aerial Ace
-ThunderPunch
-Ice Beam
-Dragon Claw

Surprisingly effective. Keeps away those damn Ludicollo. 0HKOs almost everything in the first 49. I used to run a bulkier set but that proved less effective. Evd to outspeed +Max Tyranitar... not that it can really do much to it.

Suicune @ Leftovers
Bold - Pressure
254 Hp / 252 Def / 4 Spe
-Calm Mind
-Surf
-Sleep Talk
-Rest

Invincible in the tower. Calm-cune pwns. In the 30+ range I lead with this. It's slow but effective. It basically ensures victory.

Metagross @ Choice Band
Adamant - Clear Body
252 Hp / 238 Atk / 20 Spe
-Meteor Mash
-Explosion
-Earthquake
-ThunderPunch

Compliments Dragonite really well. Thunder PAAUWNCH deals with Bulky waters. And with a CB and Base 135 Atk it really is a PAAUWNCH. 20 speed nets it the jump on magnezone for the 0HKO with EQ... although CB isn't really the best for that.

As for 50-100; I'm still breeding but it involves Ninjask, Electivire and Swampert.

kinder surprise

Yes, it seems that whenever the opponent uses explosion or destiny bond with their last pokemon on to challenger's last pokemon, the challenger loses. But if the challenger does the same, the challenger still loses...

If I had my way, I'd use milotic, milotic, and milotic. (and I have enough of them to pull it off, too.) Damn species clause.
I think I used salamence, dragonite, and one of my many milotic. Probably the non-shiny one.
Metagross got me pretty far, too. Blaziken wasn't too great, but managed a few wins. I'm off to try walrein/infernape/venusaur or something similar.

Well, Nintendo confirmed (at least in Emerald's Frontier) the buildings have higher luck, just to make game more "challenging". I bet they've kept it and the same for Platinum's Battle Area.

Maybe we could turn this into a discussion thread for what could be a perfect team too?

I was thinking maybe

1. Ninjask, speed/attack passer
2. Smeargle, magnet rise passer
3. Regigigas, immunity to ground, no slow start, and boosted attack and speed.

Seems good, but it obviously has flaws (i. e. Taunt, OHKO moves, priority...)

On the topic of what got me the highest, I actually only had 1 Pokémon that really did well, namely beating the first 21 (including Palmer) without help.

Breloom @ Toxic Orb
252 Att., 252 Speed, 4 HP
Jolly/Adamant (dunno off the top of my head. I think Adamant)
~ Seed bomb
~ Focus Punch
~ Spore
~ Substitute

Yeah, it's standard, but it works.

Drill Peck
Stealth Rock
Whirl Wind
Roost

Blissey + Lum berry
Ice Beam
Thunderbolt
Calm Mind
Soft Boiled

Infernape + Life Orb
Close Combat
Earthquake
Grass Knot
Fire Blast

ALOT of close calls with this team against hippodwns that had fire fang and random flailers

My previous team that brought me to 280 was

Garchomp + yache
Dragon Claw
Earthquake
Fire Fang
Swords Dance

Raikou + Shuca
Thunderbolt
Shadowball
HP Ice 62 bp
Calm Mind

Bronzong + leftovers
Earthquake
Gyro Ball
Toxic
Explosion

This team had ALOT of problems with CB or Revenge Aerodactyls and Sash/Revenge Weaviles because they outsped my pokemon and put dents that would allow another fast pokemon to take out the weakend pokemon easily.

One question, does that mean When the battle tower people use Double Team It's a even lower chance of hitting than normal? Oww...

Also, does Palmer only apper in single battle?

Well, I had a Gyrados and a Salamance in front of my party in double battle at the battle tower.
Gyrados Male
Item: Wide Lens
Move Set: Ice Fang, Stone Edge, Aqua Tail, and Earthquake
Ability: Intimidate
Salamance Female
Item: Muscle Band
Move Set: Hydro Pump, Dragon claw, Earthquake, and Crunch
Ability: Intimidate

The other two, I randomly use different pokemon for other purposes.

Having both a Gyrados and Salamance can be really useful. They both use intimidate to reduce the opponents Attack, not one but two. Whats more, they both know Earthquake, and I use them to annihilate the opponent. This makes them both the perfect powerhouse.

I made it through 43 Consecutive bouts. It was pretty much a cake walk, easy battle point picking.

For single Battles, I got pretty far with this team.
Venasuar Female
Ability: Overgrow
Item: Black Sludge
Move Set: Sludge Bomb, Leech Seed, Giga Drain, and Earthquake.
I have Venasuar costumed to be constantly recovering, making it a good leech tank.
Milotic Male
Ability: Marvel Scale
Item: Leftovers
Moveset: Hydro Pump, Surf, Dragon Pulse, and Ice Beam.
I could've have a Milotice that knows recover, refresh or mirror coat to replace surf, but I never got around to it. It would've been better.
Salamance Female
Ability: Intimidate
Item: Muscle Band
Move set: Hydro Pump, Crunch, Dragon Claw, and Earthquake.
A perfect powerhouse, just like my Garchomp, Sceptile, Gyrados, Metagross, and Lucario.

I only made in through 42 consecutive bouts. It feels like my team isn't as strong as its supposed to be, because I keep encountering trainers that have pokemon that are stronger than normal, and coordinate their strategies pretty well, embarrassing of all, type disadvantage. Its pretty easy to win against Palmer (first fight) with this team.

I really like this team in the battle tower:) I came to the 118:th opponent but lost there but still its impresive. You may ask why i have swagger on my jolt and there is a simple answer to that. The opponent doesnt change their statused pokemons which makes swagger great in tuff situations. metagross explosion is also very handy because he often takes out 1 poke and can explode on the second or on a troublesome poke.

i was flying through a 39 win streak with my electivire, garchomp and lucario when all of a sudden. I had to fight THAT pokemon. the gliscor with guillotine and wide lens. personally, i don't believe that having something that is sent out last and keeps using a cheap move until it finishes off your entire team is a sign of skill - more like a sign of nintendo forcing you to waste 1/3 of your team on something with sturdy as an ability.

Thats why I tend to skip Iron head on Scizor if I ever use it and have aerial ace for BT

All the way to 97 ^^

I was thinking about doing something like that. who knows, it might actually do me some good!

You know, I think the game is, like, programed or something to make us lose at 97. because i lost at 98, volteon(?) lost at 97, and so did you.

something weird is going on here...

Cool, but how did you have two pokemon with the same items?

It's because he's lying. There's no way someone could make it so far with a seemingly random and crappy moveset.

My team got to 81 on singles:

Blissey w/ Leftovers
Bold
Natural Cure
252 def/252 HP/6 special defense
-Thunderwave
-Seismic Toss
- Aromatherapy
- Softboil

Starter. Set up T-wave. If I couldn't afford the switch, I'd either stall or seismic toss until something faints.

Heracross w/ Choice Band
Adamant
GUTS
252 speed/252 attack/6HP
-Night Slash
-Close Combat
-Megahorn
-Earthquake

I got tired of missing with Stone Edge, and Starmie already covered flyers. So I used Nightslash to take down ghosts+chance of critical hit. Close Combat messed things up, even if they resisted. A couple of times, I was able to activate Guts due to Toxic Spikes

Starmie w/ Wise Glasses
Modest
Natural Cure
252 sp atk/252 speed/6 HP
-T-bolt
-Ice beam
- Grass Knot
- Surf

Standard Specs set without the specs. Performed quite well. Though I hope to train one soon with some bulk on it.

I used my three Pokemon from my Elite Four team on my first try. It consisted of Roserade, Gyarados, and Infernape, and they all had at least one HM move. Needless to say, I got destroyed by the Battle Champ on the 21st battle.

The next time I tried, I used Rhyperior (Bad nature + no EV's + Okay moveset), Roserade, and Milotic (got from a trade). I actually made it to streak 46 before I lost, which is pretty good considering that my team wasn't very good. Ironically, Quick Claw on Rhyperior with Rock Wrecker is what saved me most of the time. IIRC, their movesets were:

Roserade @ Choice Specs
Random nature and Ev's.
Grass Knot
Sludge Bomb
Synthesis
Shadow Ball

Rhyperior @ Quick Claw
No Ev's and random nature
Megahorn
Rock Wrecker
Earthquake
Brick Break?

Milotic @ Leftovers
Random nature and may be EV trained
Surf
Ice Beam
Recover
Dragon Pulse

I tried again a couple of times, replacing Milotic for Starmie here and there, but I kept losing at around the 40's. Hax played a major role, of course.

Super_Ivysaur

I got up to 37 with A Togekiss a Lucario and a Breloom. When possible I used Togekiss to pass nasty plots to Lucario. When I fought Palmer i had extreme luck its Milotic kept using hypnosis and missing so i got to nasty plot 3 times and i passed it to Lucario i forgot how i killed Milotic but i killed Rypherior with Aura Sphere and Dragonite with Dragon Pulse. Lucario also had Wise glasses which even further boosted its attacks. I didn't use this team all the way through i started off with a different team and i didn't play battle tower for a while so i was shocked when all of the sudden Palmer appeared because i though i was starting at battle 1. Luck must have played a big role i have never got that far again even with a seemingly better team. The movesets are below

Togekiss w/ Leftovers
Calm
Air Slash
Wish
Nasty Plot
Baton pass

Lucario w/ Wise Glasses
Timid
Aura Sphere
Dragon Pulse
Dark Pulse

Breloom w/ Posion Orb

Azelf@BrightPowder[Levitate]
Naive 6HP/100Atk./152Sp.Atk./252Spd.
~Nasty Plot
~Psychic
~Shadow Ball
~U-Turn

Great sweeper. After a Nasty Plot, Psychic and Shadow Ball are amazingly powerful. U-Turn is mostly a filler; I'm planning on replacing it with Explosion when I get Azelf to a high enough level.

Porygon-Z@Life Orb[Adaptability]
Modest 6HP/252Sp.Atk./252Spd.
~Nasty Plot
~Thunderbolt
~Ice Beam
~Hyper Beam

Amazing special sweeper. After a Nasty Plot, Hyper Beam has an effective base power of 780, which, combined with Porygon-Z's high Special Attack, makes able to OHKO just about anything except Ghost-types. It'll even OHKO standard Blissey!

Swampert@Leftovers[Torrent]
Impish 252HP/6Atk./252Def.
~Waterfall
~Earthquake
~Avalanche
~Protect

The only primarily physical Pokémon on my team. It works great as a tank, because it can survive a few hits from either end of the attack spectrum, although physical attacks do a bit less, and Protect every other turn to double the Leftovers recovery without getting hurt.

I still haven't lost with this team.

I tied my record of 59 wins again only to have my garchomp fissured by hippowdon, my regice sheer colded by abomasnow, and my electivire horn drilled by dewgong. The battle tower cheats so bad!!

Suggestions for people struggling in the battle tower who are there strictly for the BP and not concerned with creative teams:

-Swords dancing chomp is the best lead ever in the BT. It can sweep most teams after one SD.
-Focus sashes will save you big time in the BT. OHKO's and critical hits are abundant after about 35 wins. (I'm going to switch my Electivire for someone who can use a sash more efficiently like Weavile or something)
-Low accuracy attacks always miss during the second battle with Palmer.
Just made that up, but I really do think your accuracy goes down. Focus blast missed all 5 times vs his Regigigas. Anyone else have similar luck?

Nuh-uh! Really? That's incredible! (No sarcasm)

That's because he's lying. With no EVs, completely random move sets, and a shared ground weakness between Empoleon and Infernape, it's beyond the realm of logic for the poster to win with that crappy team.

Replace Tyranitar with Scizor. It completely walls Weaville+both STAB are SE to Weavile.

252 HP/252 ATK/6 whatever, probably defense w/ Life Orb
Adamant
- Swords Dance
- Roost
- X-Scissor
- Bullet Punch

This complements Starmie and Garchomp very well. Some fire type comes out on Scizor? Chomp and Starmie both resist. Dragon or Ice on Chomp? Scizor resists both, and Starmie can resist Ice. And starmie's weaknesses are all covered by Scizor except for electric, which is covered by Chomp. Scizor can even handle the Fake Out/Frustration/Return users.

The sacrifice is no more Sand storm for Chomp, but this allows you to switch freely among the 3 without worrying about losing 1/16th health on Starmie.

Fake edit: If you can't find one via trade or don't own Plat yet, Quick Attack can be used. You'll notice this is basically the Choice Band set withouit the Band. Pursuit isn't on because the AI rarely switches, and Iron Head isn't on because Technician+STAB Bullet Punch+Life ORb+swords dances are pretty awesome.

I'd also recommend Band on Chomp. Not much will outrun it, and it'll survive most dragon attacks for one hit except for STAB Outrage. Good choice on Aerial Ace so you can hit double teamers.

This team got me 136 wins. Here is a portion from the RMT on it:

STARTER:

Starmie w/ Leftovers (nicknamed "STUFF"_
Timid
Natural Cure
160 HP/132 SP Atk/216 Speed
- Reflect
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Surf

This is a slight variation of CounterStar set. This Starmie can take hits except for the worst Bug and Ghost attacks. It can absorb status. The Special Attack EVs mean it can take down the standard non-Yache Chomp with no significant defense investment, and frankly, Dragonite and Salamence aren't powerful enough to take it down anyway. If this was competitive, it'd be more of a problem, but in the BT, it worked out quite well. Gyarados came out a lot, and I often was able to set up Reflect while it DD up or barely damaged me with whatever it had.

I originally had Recover, but I just almost never had time to use it, or it didn't give enough health to survive another hit. I made the decision that physicals were a bit more of a threat than specials, especially with some of the weird mixed sets that the BT uses. It also made switching easier and provides team support. I was able to go through many rounds with just Starmie. I didn't have any room for Grass Knot, but those Water/Ground guys usually got 2HKO with Surf.

Of course, Weavile is the bane of Starmie's existence. STAB Dark and might be sporting Brick Break. That's why we have

Scizor w/ Life Orb (nickname: BT MASTA!)
Adamant
Technician
252 HP/252 ATK/6 DEF
- Swords Dance
- Roost
- X-Scissor
- Bullet Punch (thanks, plat!)

Look at how awesome this is! Priority move! Technician! Stab! Often times I was able to get in 3 Sword Dances, which means a big hit on even Pokes that resist steel. It pretty much covers all of Starmie's weaknesses except for electric (which the other guy handles). Bullet Punch immedient/weakened threats, Swords Dance for power, Roost to heal. He won't be outrunning much, but that doesn't always matter with priority.

Pursuit was taken off this set since the AI rarely switches. Sometimes I got a bit cocky and set up an extra swords dance when I should've just attacked. I kept getting Ice Beam from a crappy Water/Ground Poke that froze me 3 times! So basically, I need to learn to moderate myself, and not get greedy. It's fire weakness is covered by both of it's team mates, it can take neutral hits. It just doesn't like getting Will O Wisped.

Final:
Garchomp w/ Choice Band (nickname: RAWR)
Adamant
Sand Veil
252 ATK/252 Speed/6 HP
- Outrage
- Aerial Ace
- Earthquake
- Fire Fang

Standard set with some battle tower adjustments. Aerial Ace so I can actually hit double teamers. Doesn't do a lot of damage, but is good for revenge killing or slowly wearing them down. Fire Fang is for the x4 weak guys. Abomosnow scares the hell out of him, but it also can be handled by any of the other guys. It's ice weakness is covered by it's team mates, dragon by Scizor (though really most dragon attacks won't kill it unless it's STAB Outrage). No real need to explain this.

Aerial Ace is often a wasted slot, but then I run into a double teamer and I remember why I stuck it there.

I know you didn't ask, but this team could do even better with just a few minor changes.

Focus Sash isn't nearly as vital in the BT as it is in competitive play, since not a lot will outspeed Weavile. Consider ditching Swords Dance, put Arial Ace (both for Heracross and Double Teamers) and using Choice Band instead.

Poison has horrible coverage, and isn't worth the STAB on Gengar. Use Focus Blast , Destiny Bond, or Hypnosis, or a Hidden Power that your team lacks like HP Fire beause Scizor completely walls your entire team. Energy Ball is very useful for all the Water/Ground types.

Ambipom though is the definition of a gimmick. But at some point you'll encounter an entire Ghost team, and he'll be your last Pokemon. And any Fake Out anti-lead should be going first. And adding U-Turn combines a powerful move that hits psychics, dark, and grass for SE hits with the best strategy in the game: switching!

Garchomp: Adamant, Yache Berry
Swords Dance
EQ
Dragon Claw
Crunch

Garchomp is the lead to make battles faster, as a Swords Danced Adamant EQ hits almost everything with neutral damage/SE, and KO's them to hell, If I see any Ice type (Especially Weavile),

I then switch to:

Suicune: Bold, Leftovers
Calm mind
Surf
Roar
Ice Beam

Now this... Courtesy to Magicenforcer for this... I lost it when my Diamond got Deleted, anyways, PM me to those who have one, I can clone it.
This is when your Garchomp doesnt survive those ice beams and Has Fainted.. This is where this beast comes in.. Calm mind to your hearts content until it gets a Plus 6 in all its SP. Stats ..and Surf your way to those Pokemon who doesnt avoid these..Roar for Screwing stat boosts.

20th November 2008, 9:15 PM
Okay, with a little advice from randomspot on how to cover my weaknesses, I have my new streak of 102, I'd put this at the DP Ranking hall if I had a working camera...

Starmie @ Expert Belt
Timid Nature
Ability: Natural Cure
4 HP/252 Special Attack/252 Speed

Surf
Ice Beam
Thunderbolt
Psychic

Can anything really be said? It is a great starter at the Battle Tower, which amazing type coverage, can OHKO or 2KO tons of threats, with speed to boot.

Garchomp @ Choice Band
Adamant Nature
Ability: Sand Veil
4 HP/252 Attack/252 Speed

Outrage
Earthquake
Fire Fang
Aerial Ace

Garchomp can hit almost too hard, a Choice Band Outrage off this can ruin anything that doesn't resist or have insanely high defenses. The other two moves just round out the coverage, and Aerial Ace is to hit through those annoying Double Teams.

Scizor @ Life Orb
Brave Nature (Wanted Adamant but when I got 31 HP and 30 Attack I couldn't resist)
Ability: Technician
252 HP/252 Attack/4 Defense

Swords Dance
Roost
Quick Attack
X-Scissor

Without having Platinum access, I was worried that Quick Attack would not do what I wanted it to. However, it really still does a ton of damage after a SD or two due to Life Orb and Technician. I find that Scizor can really boost nicely on a lot of things with those defenses and resists, Roosting when needed.

Sadly, my streak ended to a BrightPowder Medicham that got some kind of glitch and outsped my Garchomp... That was the worst thing I had come across in the Tower and cost me.

Now you're lying. The "Pastoria guy" is the move re-learner. He only tutors moves that a Pokemon naturally learns. Registeel does not learn Baton Pass, naturally, via TMs, egg moves, or by any move tutors (Baton Pass isn't even a move that a tutor teaches in 3rd or 4th gen).

Except it's hacked. It can't learn Baton Pass, and it especially can't learn Baton Pass from the Move-Relearner Tutor. So you're either lying, delusional, a hacker, or a combination of the above.

Either way, it's still hacked. Sorry.

I didn't hack my game, and i got it from the move re-learner. I said I didn't hack my game. I have nasty friends XD

Okay, well... Either way it's not possible to be from the Pastoria move relearner. Did you possibly get it with Baton Pass from the GTS or something?

25th November 2008, 3:10 AM
Okay, guys, I'm sorry but can you please talk about the "hacked" thing somewhere else? Thanks.

*coughcheatcough*

Anyway, I am back at the BT, and am on my way to victory with:

Hmm. First post in a while, eh?

Smeargle @ Scarf
Evs: Forgot, nothing too special
Nature: Jolly
Attacks:
-Spore
-Transform
-Destiny Bond
-Trick

Gengar @ Specs
252 SpAtk/Speed 6 Hp
Nature: Timid

-Trick
-Shadow Ball
-HP [Fight]
-Thunderbolt

Drapion @ Life Orb
Forgot
Nature: Adamant
Attacks:
-Swords Dance
-Night Slash
-Earthquake
-Ice Fang

They cover each other well. Smeargle helps set up Drapion and also makes a suitable revenge killer w/ Transform/Destiny Bond. Gar is just pure evil. Entirly destroys opposition.

Oddly enough, just randomly going with Electivire, Magmortar, and Alakazam got me fairly far. It has been a while, so I can't remember their set up.
Reading this, I kind feel the want to go back and get a decent team up and go for it again.

Heh my teams quite rubbish really but hey it beat the tycoon twice :D I dont know any EVs btw i know i have hig hattack, HP and speed on gliscor from wearing power bracer while fighting a mix of gastradon (HP) and raticate (speed). The other two idk.

Mamoswine @ leftovers

-Ice Shard

To help you out superjesus1, on Yanmega, if it has the ability speed boost, detect or protect are good options, but if it doesn't, Shadow Ball/ Ominous Wind, giga drain or psychic/dream eater will always help (instead of U-turn).

TrainerxDiana
26th November 2008, 7:36 AM
Um, if you need help on Yanmega, and can't rebreed for a good Hidden Power: Ground, try Shadow Ball, it's the best thing you have there, and also frees up a spot if you want to try something like Thunder Fang on Gliscor, since you have basically everything else covered.

26th November 2008, 7:36 PM
Thanks for all your suggestions guys and girls, I think i need to breed another yanma to evolve cos my yanmega has a Naive nature which i don't think is beneficial to it X3 i was just after a Yanmega for dex but when i saw how easy it was to lvl it, i just kept going until i decided to train a mamoswine XD But yes as i might just use it as a battle tower pkmn. they really should make a battle tower pokemon team rating thread like the online team thread so then i could try out some new teams and get em rated. Would an electivire with cross chop be a good choice for my next training challenge?

Amen to that.

Would an electivire with cross chop be a good choice for my next training challenge?

It depends. If you are the type that likes big moves with the price of cutting off a little accuracy, go ahead. But other times, Brick Break can work as a good move. I, myself, like to go with this set:

E-vire@Expert Belt
4 HP/252 Att/252 Spd

I don't know about you but I prefer 6vs6 battles or PBR styled ones, but I think this would be a good team:

;Garchomp; doesn't everyone love him?

Nature: Jolly
Item: flame plate/charcoal/persim berry
EV: 252 att, 252 spd, 4 hp
Attacks:
Outrage
Sword dance
Earthquake
Fire fang

Now this pretty much like all Garchomp sets; attack and the speed to maximize it. How ever, you may be wondering why I have max spd EVs instead of spreading them into another category. Considering popular sweepers like weavile and Alakazam, you will need all the spd you can get to conquer them before you get attacked. The basic strategy it to first pull off a sword dance, then follow up with a Outrage which would obiterate just about anything in it's path. Fire fang and earthquake are there to blow away steel types which will most likely get in your way. You can decide whether to have charcoal to make fire fang hurt a little more or give yourself a second chance to strike with outrage with a persim berry before you switch, both are notable.

;Metagross;

Nature: dwn sp. att/ up sp. def
Items: leftovers
EV: 252 hp, 68 def, 196 sp. def
Attacks:
Meteor Mash
Thunder Punch
Hammer Arm
Ice Punch/Earthquake/Stone Edge

The Tank Returns! This metagross here is to switch into battle against emenies that thearten to destroy Garchomp and take a few blows heartly. Hence the defense EVs. Why not attack? Because this guy has plenty of it and is meant to take down faster and more fragile sweepers that can stop garchomp and contest beefy pokemon that garchomp cannot take down in one hit alone. He gets bigger Sp. def EVs because that is his weaker defense stat.

;Weavile;

Nature: adamant? (dwn sp.att/up att)
Item: Expert Belt, Life Orb, Nevermeltice
EV: 252 att, 252 spd, 4 hp
Attacks:
Ice Shard
Ice Punch
Night Slash
Brick Break

Weavile a.k.a. the Dragon Slayer. This last choice is optional, but it helps when you have a surprise waiting at the end of the line. The idea is simple, beat the weakened pokemon at the end of the match and win. The preferable choice of item is an expert belt, but you can use a life orb if you aren't afraid of it's effects.

I'm training a fighting team and wanted to see how they preformed at the battle tower.
They won against Palmer twice and lost once.
I'm working on my win streak now.

Weavile @ cheri berry (will be replaced)
Docile nature, but IV bred.
252 att, 252 spe, 4 def
Taunt
Night slash
Ice punch
Brick break (it's a fighting team, right?)

Weavile is proving herself to be a very useful lead. I find paralysis to hinder her the most, so I gave her the cheri berry. Taunt is for rotoms and the occasional xatu/dusclops.

Blaziken @ focus sash
Rash nature
152 att, 100 sp.a, 252 spe
Shadow claw
Brave bird
Overheat
Sky uppercut

Overheat is for physical walls and special STAB. Focus sash is for Palmer's milotic. Otherwise, brave bird renders it inoperable.

Adamant/Jolly Nature. (I'd prefer Jolly, since it can outspeed more counters)
252 Attack, 252 Speed, 6 HP
~Dragon Rush
~EarthQuake
~Crunch
~Aerial Ace (Idunno which move to use other than that. I'm open for suggestions, though)

Skarmory @ Leftovers
Impish Nature
252 HP, 252 Defense, 6 Speed
~Toxic
~Spikes
~Roost
~Steel Wing

Tyranitar @ Focus Sash
Adamant Nature
252 Attack, 252 Defense, 6 HP. (Defensive Tyranitar actually does rather well, imo)
~Crunch
~Stone Edge
~EarthQuake
~Brick Break

I totally didn't expect Earthquake to miss against a Medicham, when I was facing it with Garchomp. =l

I got 56 Wins with this team:

Electivire @ Expert Belt
Adamant | Motor Drive
252 Atk, 252 Spe, 6 Def
T-Punch
Ice Punch
EQ
Cross Chop

This guy has destroyed Palmer by himself sooo many times....

Swellow @ Flame Orb
Jolly | Guts
252 Atk, 252 Spe, 6 HP
Protect
Facade
Brave Bird
U-Turn

When electivire falls, this guy comes up to clean up the mess.

Cresselia @ Leftovers
Calm | Levitate
252 Def, 200 HP, 58 SpD
Charge Beam
Psychic
Rest
Sleep Talk
It's funny watching the NPC's in the BT try to kill this. Last time it happened, one of them had a TTar. <.<

I tend to use Pokemon I like rather than OU pokemon. That would explain my only reaching 30. But here's what I used:

Slaking @ Choice Band
Impish
252 atk/252 spd/6 def
Giga Impact
Hammer Arm
Earthquake
Aerial Ace

This guy's my lead and takes out most of the pokemon up to Palmer on his own. But his performance becomes a little shaky during 25-30. His downfall is a switched out ghost (forces me to switch), or annoying status effects.

Gardevoir @ Expert Belt
Timid
252 sp.atk/252 spd/6 sp.def
Psychic
Focus Blast
Shadow Ball
Will-O-Wisp

I don't think Gardevoir will get me to the later stages of the tower, but it packs a nice punch, and I think Gardevoir are kinda cute. Will-O-Wisp covers somewhat poor defense. Unfortunately, it's still not enough against a strong Crunch.

Dragonite @ Persim Berry
Adamant
252 atk/252 def/6 sp.def
Outrage
Fire Punch
Dragon Dance
Roost

Salamance may be better in every way, but I've always liked Dragonite. It can OHKO easy after a Dragon Dance, and takes hits almost as well as Slaking. This pokemon probably has the best potential to take me further, but I think its teammates are slowing it down.

Jutten
11th January 2009, 7:17 AM
Crobat @ Razor Claw
Bite
Arial Ace
Confuse Ray
Giga Drain

Gengar @ Leftovers
Hypnosis
Dream Eater
Confuse Ray
Nightmare

Scyther @ Focus Sash
Slash
Wing Attack
Double Team
X-Scissors

got to 72.

the first thing again to think about is how not to lose rather than win so how to defend yourself , set up the stage then think about power housing and type advantage T_T on a knockouter with no defence like weavile you absolutely must have a focus sash even those monfernos in battle 25 can KO a weavile with machpunch no effort...
my team got to battle 143

salamance
intimidate
sitrus berry
d claw (replaced with outrage when i get platinum)
d dance
roost
fire fang

brongzong
heatproof
lumberry
gyroball
faint attack
hypnosis
earthquake

inferape
blaze
focus sash
close combat
flare blitz
earthquake
u turn (replaced with endeaver when i get platinum)

salamence starts intimidate switch to bronzing if ice move suspected, since salamence heals it kills stallers and tankers inferape KOs most things and U turns if there's a flying dragon type or other things or endeaver later in other cases, most things that kills inferape that comes out second can be killed by brong zong and if faster than inferape or uses earthquake i switch back to salamance. i tried and tried for some time and the farthest was battle 143... i need to take a lesson out of evilazn's books and replace the useless brongzong with like a blissy that can hit more types with ice and electric attacks than just tank.
