Tracey. :3

I totally loved this episode. Seriously. They put the animation and look of the episode up a notch for this episode, and it really shows. Especially the beach dusk scene. Twas beautiful.

Also, OMG TRACEY. :D It was also fun to see Ted Lewis doing this new voice of his, which sounds slightly different to the rest of the series. That, and OMG TRACEY. :D

Bring him back, dammit. James can't be the only regular bishonen. (Although, with the path that Eric Stuart has taken his voice, he's starting to get on my nerves. Go back to the old, sweet and totally camp voice, please.)

The guy with the green hair is....like.....my best friend. XD

And of course, the Tracey-ness. THE TRACEY-NESS.

The guy with the green hair is....like.....my best friend. XD

And of course, the Tracey-ness. THE TRACEY-NESS.

You mean one of the guys on the beach, or Tracey? ('Cause in some episodes, his hair has a greenish tint. In others it is black. I prefere it black, personally.)

Hee, I remember when I rewatched the episode. Before then, I was an idiot that hated Tracey, 'cause I was an idiot. Then I watched the Tracey Introduction Scene again, and was like "Nobody messes with 'ma Tracey!" ^_^o

Anyway, I'll repeat, this episode was great. (Just in case people think this post is a pile of crap.) As were the following episodes, all of which had something new and fresh to offer. (The greatness that is 'Pikachu Revolts' etc.)

The guy on the beach. :3 Plus, Lapras isn't exactly my favorite Pokemon, so...woot for him. :3

Tracey's hair DOES look green sometimes, yes. But black is better for him. ^_^

i didn't really like Tracey when i first saw him.

Tracey is good as a stand-in until Brock came back. If it is up to me, I will had Brock come back sooner.

Yay, Tracey's debut. :) I don't mind Tracey as much as some people do. He's okay in my book. At least he makes a good debut here. I like the part when he stops the fight before it even starts and everyone is just staring in surprise. LOL :) I also like his reactions to Jigglypuff (and her drawing over his sketch) and especially Meowth (I think they should show more often people being amazed by the fact that Meowth can talk). I do think that Tracey was a bit pushy in inserting himself into the group, but otherwise he's okay in my book.

The only bad thing I have to say about the episode is that I really hate the way the tough guys were treating lapras, that was just plain cruel. At least Ash got to own Lapras for a while, and it really came in handy in the Orange Islands.

16th July 2006, 8:32 AM
Ahh Traceys debut. Lapras and Tracey together made this epi. I wish Tracey got a tad bit more screentime though

Tracey is great, and extremely worthy of 'filling-in' for Brock, but I wouldn't like to say who would win as favourite with me.

Don't you just hate it when someone you've just met invites themselves to travel day and night with you...

21st December 2006, 9:57 PM
Tracey enters!
Anyways, I like this episode, Ash got his Lapras, yay!

7th August 2007, 11:08 PM
A excellent episode especially with Tracey a favorite of mine he's definitely a breath of fresh air for the series, though I would've loved to see at least a couple more Ash & Misty episodes before Tracey entered. Ash finally caught a Lapras I was wondering if he would ever catch one since they show him riding on ones back in the original opening. Speaking of opening I like the new opening for the Orange Island episodes. I loved Misty taking charge when Ash wanted to face the Orange Crew pulling on his ear like she did with Brock and making him call Oak, she'll definitely make a good wife for Ash when they decied to get married.

This is my fave ep! It's ages since I last saw it but Lapras is my fave Pokémon, Ash is cool swimming and TRACEY!!!!!

25th October 2008, 3:16 AM
I like Tracy. But after seeing the rest of the series, I do find it odd that he just pushed his way in like that, because he wasn't a pushy guy. I guess the writers couldn't think of another way to get him in.

26th October 2008, 8:33 PM
I don't like Tracey - *gets pelted by garbage thrown by Alfonso, Medea & others* - so this episode wasn't one of my favorites. *pelted with more garbage*

I much preferred Ash interacting with Lapras ^_^ I felt so bad for that little thing, it's nice that Ash is helping her/him out.

Yay, Tracey's debut! Getting to see Tracey, Ash catching Lapras and this makes a fabulous episode. I felt sorry for Lapras when those three men were attacking it, so I'm glad Ash interfered, as always, and saved him.

1st January 2009, 10:02 PM
yes a fabulous episode indeed. I enjoyed it while I could, but i hated the commercials.

1st January 2009, 11:48 PM
Tracey was annoying but I loved Lapras :D But it was sad to see her getting treated so badly.

26th January 2009, 2:24 PM
lapras is such a beautiful pokemon back then, even though dragonite is my favorite lapras would be my second choice, it was a nice episode to watch.

I liked the itroduction of Lapras, i wondered how he was going to get around the islands, and then Lapras appears.

I'm not a big fan of Tracey, but i think Ash needed someone else to travel around with.

Good episode.

Poor lapras! How can trainer to such thing to a sooo cute creature!

I like this Episode ^_^
its cute how Lapras trust Ash, Tracy is so hot...lol

I think this episode was great! i loved Tracy's first appearance, he was cool.

Came across this episode the other day, and I didn't really remember it all that well. But since I have fond memories of Orange I was sure it would be good.

Most importantly this episode was Tracey's debut. Tracey <3333333 Still my favourite character after all these years. His first scene was wonderful, displaying the kindness and quirkyness that makes him entertaining. Odd to see him so much taller than Ash and Misty though, considering he shrinks later on.

Lapras got a good debut too, shame the rest of Ash's team was MIA.

10th December 2009, 3:47 PM
Well things got pretty normal after the whole blimp thing.

Wow Tracey appeared in this episode. I didn't like him much. I did like that Lapras stayed with Ash and that they use it for transportation much like Surf in the games.

6th February 2011, 5:14 AM
I liked this episode, Ash diving in after Lapras was really cool. Those trainers that treated Lapras bad made me mad. I'm glad Ash helped out and eventually was able to convince Lapras to come along and Surf him to all of the different islands.

6th February 2011, 5:57 AM
Greatt EPISODE Lapras is such an awesome pokemon and can learn a variety of moves

1st March 2011, 11:35 PM
Tracey is eww. But Lapras is kewl.
I feel bad for it being abandoned, but I'm really glad Ash gave it a home.
So overall a nice episode, 7/10

Good episode.

Poor lapras! How can trainer to such thing to a sooo cute creature!

I agree! Jerks!!

I have a feeling that I'm going to really like Lapras at some point during this arc. I already kind of do now. It's so cute!

20th March 2011, 1:39 PM
I felt so sorry for Lapras in this episode, because of how it was separated from the other Lapras and how those guys on the beach were abusing it. I was really glad that it went with Ash in this episode.

I didn`t really like Tracey that much. I just didn`t like how he was replacing Brock. Plus, when this episode aired, my mom said something like, "Who`s that white guy replacing Brock?" and that just made me feel uncomfortable throughout the entire Orange Islands saga. O_o

8th May 2011, 12:36 PM
Great episode I love Lapras. Cool to see Tracy for the first time.Poor Lapras he is so cute.

13th May 2011, 10:53 AM
Aww, the poor baby Lapras. :( This episode was a great way to introduce another of Ash's pokemon. The Pokemon he "catches" through a bonding experience are the coolest. I didn't expect Ash to get a Lapras, but the addition is really fitting with all the island travel in this part of the series.

Well, the writers certainly didn't waste any time replacing Brock. Less than an episode later Tracy comes along, and he somehow manages to act dorkier than Brock already.

2nd July 2011, 3:56 PM
I loved this episode because it introduced Lapras, my favourite Pokemon of Ash's so far (watching every episode form start to finish atm and I'm just about to watch Naval Maneuvers).

So yeah, I'd say 8/10 cos the plot was so so, but the characters involved were cool.

Lapras is the cutest Pokemon I've seen so far in the anime.

20th October 2011, 2:37 AM
Lapras was always such a cool Pokéon. Tracey, eh, not so much. The idea of a Pokémon watcher seemed interesting but it's just a Pokémon breeder/researcher really. The episode had some terrible animation though but at least it kicked off a pretty interesting filler arc. Plus OI theme > Kanto theme.

17th November 2011, 7:06 PM
It's Ninetales!
Those guys were so unnecessarily mean that Lapras. Pokémon abuse. ): And their Pokémon were so bad, as Tracey later told them.. lol. I liked the character of Tracey, it was interesting to see a Pokémon sketcher / researcher / watcher / whatever.
Lapras had such a sob story, left behind by its kind and then beaten by a trio of bad trainers. And it was pretty big for a baby Lapras. Although I felt bad for the scared Lapras, Team Rocket bombing it and making that entrance was quite funny. As was their exit. I'm glad that Ash got Lapras as his Pokémon, it's his first that I actually liked. Good episode, it seemed to be portraying how animal abuse can lead to fear, I think.

30th January 2012, 10:01 PM
I don't really like tracey, & I would've loved to see at least a couple more Ash & Misty episodes before tracey entered. Anyways I loved how Ash saved Lapras from team rocket therefore adding it to his team.

I don't really like tracey, & I would've loved to see at least a couple more Ash & Misty episodes before tracey entered.

That probably would've added some more PokeShipping evidence!

Lapras is so cute and awesome! And Tracey was introduced in a good way, when he examined the Pokemon of those thugs was funny. Jigglypuff made a nice appearance, 10/10.

3rd September 2012, 5:32 PM
Lapras, I loved that Pokémon so much. Ash was lucky to have such an loyal Pokémon traveling around with him during the Orange Island series. It was definitely (as the Brits would say) a "splendid" addition to Ash's group after he released Pidgeot not to long ago.

Wow. They're showing Pokemon abuse in the anime. I'm surprised, but not as surprised as seeing a young boy carry a Starmie like it's nothing. Starmie weighs 176 pounds and he's carrying it so easy. But, Ash did carry Larvitar on his head.

14th July 2013, 3:46 AM
Whoa, those mean guys on the beach were unfairly abusing that poor Lapras, It's surpring that they showed Pokémon abuse in the anime. I liked how Tracey was introduced in this episode, it was nice to see a Pokémon sketcher/watcher.
Lapras's backstory was sad, it was left behind by it's family and then beaten by those mean trainers, I felt sorry for the Lapras. It's cool when Ash saved Lapras from Team Rocket, I'm glad he got it as his Pokémon.

That was really unfair the way those guys were hurting that Lapras on the beach!
Good to see Ash get a Pokemon that can help him get across the Orange Islands. :)

2nd November 2014, 1:09 AM
Seeing those three thugs harassing Lapras really got my blood boiling and I couldn't blame Lapras for not trusting Ash at first given what it went through. Anyway, I laughed when Tracey tried to interview Meowth, and Ash and Pikachu fighting Team Rocket in the truck's cabin was funny as well, mostly because of Meowth's facial expressions.

I didn't like Tracy much at first but it was cool how Ash found out about the Orange League competition. Him saving Lapras at the beach and from Team rocket was sweet and it worked out well as his transportation method. ^^;

24th March 2016, 10:10 PM
Meh. I like Lapras as much as anyone, but Ash getting a baby one with trust issues was too dramatic and contrived. He should've caught an adult one...

Well if it had been an adult Lapras, its backstory likely would've been different. This Lapras being young and getting separated from its mother was kind of a huge plot point.

27th May 2016, 1:54 AM
It felt odd seeing Ash & Misty alone for a while because I wasn't used to Brock being gone. But I liked Tracey. 7/10

1st September 2016, 10:26 PM
My favorite scene from this episode was when Ash decided to join the Orange League challenge and when he saved Lapras on the truck.

20th October 2016, 4:22 AM
Ash finally caught a Lapras: I was wondering if he would ever catch one since they show him riding on one's back in the first Opening. I also loved Misty pulling Ash's ear when Ash wanted to face the Orange Crew.

It was kind of awkward watching Satoshi and Kasumi traveling alone on Bontan Island without a third member, although by the end of this episode Kenji joined the team. Laplace being bullied by thugs on the beach riled me up, but I was fascinated when Kenji's Kongpang used its special radar vision.
