This episode has one of the biggest "What the heck happened?" moments I've ever seen on the show. We all know Team Rocket survives everything, but how on earth did James get back out of the canyon after being knocked down by a boulder, and come out looking none the worse? I wish they'd shown some extra Team Rocket footage so we could have seen what happened.

I just love this quote

Reporter:Drama unfolds on the expedition as an old, strange man appears
Old man grabs camera
Old man:Hey!I'm not that old and I'm not strange either

I just love the way he says it!

10/10 great episode and very entertaining to watch!

No way it's even a 7. This is by many accounts, a terrible episode. James gets crushed by the boulder and nothing happens, making the fear showed by others pointless. The whole episode makes a big deal out of Kabuto being so rare and not once does anyone mention how Ash/Misty have already seen Kabuto before. Not to mention the fact that somehow NOBODY has found a large cave on a large island before...this episode defies logic on so many levels (I know logic and Pokemon aren't bedfellows to begin with but after the accepted quirks of the show). A weak episode to be sure.

Yep i agree- sort of a well episode. Plot was ok, humour ok, overall it was just alright. 5.6/10

That was one of the best filler episodes ever, even though the reporter was kinda annoying.

23rd June 2006, 4:57 AM
hmm u think so.... it was just alright.

meh. I didnt like this epi at all. Didnt like the plot or the CHaracters or anything.4/10

19th July 2006, 3:39 AM
I always wondered if TR got away with some of those Kabuto that were swarming all over them.

21st December 2006, 2:55 AM
Okay, alot of swarming Kabuto though

An interesting episode, it raises so many questions that are unanswered, like why the Kabuto were all together on that island and were in a hibernation type state, and why that old man was on the island? With the way this episode was going at the beginning I thought it was going to be a parody on the Scooby Doo cartoons, with the old man trying to scare the gang away but it didn't turnout like that. Another thing the never mentioned was if these Kabuto "Walk the path of Heaven!", if you get that reference then you get a gold star.

Gotta love James in this episode:
*sounds of James struggling*
Jessie: "James, your lagging behind!"
Meowth: "Yeah, walk a little faster, will ya?"
*james falls to his knees with an enormous backpack*
James: "Oh, that's easy for you to say."
Jessie: "Well, nobody told you to bring that heavy backpack"
James: "And, nobody told you to bring that nasty attitude either, but i'm stuck with both!"

Good episode, as always.

I love this ep! Can't stop repeating the prophecy!

7th January 2009, 7:39 AM
Pretty good episode. It would have been cool if someone caught a Kabuto considering how rare they are.

26th January 2009, 12:19 PM
hm, back then i was afraid of kabuto's i don't know why.

7th March 2009, 2:51 PM
Oh this episode was scary o_o;
well i tought it was XD Kabuto is scary imo ^_^

Hahaha, that was awesome XD

But the point of the episode was to... what? Find some Kabuto? And they were crawling all over the places... just like roaches >_<; It was just so creepy, man. I didn't like this episode at all.

27th November 2009, 4:07 AM
This one was good. Creepy with the red moon but it was still good.

I wish this had been in Kanto instead. We met the Fossil Pokemon for one episode only but it would've been better had they given us more info.

11th December 2009, 1:43 PM
I loved the Fossil Pokemon, but it was scary when rocks fell on the friends and the T.V
This man eventually was right about those Fossils.

11th December 2009, 1:58 PM
Oh yes i remember this one now ^^, i liked this one, it had some creepy moments D=, and nice to see the Fossil pokemon was in this episode too, they should have more appearances. With this episode i was happy with , but i am going to rate this episode as a 7.5/10

Not my personal favorite and will be put into the likeable but meh pile

A true wtf moment, because when the reporter said this report was going to be almost as exciting as Kadabra's spoon removal, I thought she said cadaver's spoon removal.
Why take spoons from dead people? XD

7th February 2011, 11:27 AM
Didn't like this episode that much. It was cool seeing Kabuto in an episode again. Seeing the fossil Kabuto come from for the 1st time was cool. It was a very scary episode to me when I 1st watched it.

These last couple episodes I've been noticing a pattern.

The Pokemon that was in the WTP? segment in the last episode has been in the next episode. Was it planned this way, or has it just been a coincidence?

If it is intentional, than I'm guessing the next episodes is going to have a Ponyta with a major (even if it's only for a few minutes) role/appearance.

I won't look at the thread for it, though, I want to be suprised.

This episode was not my favourite, but I thought it was okay. I love fossil Pokemon, so I liked seeing all those Kabuto fossils. Other parts of the episode I found really weird, though, like how the fossils came to life in the moonlight. I also found Kabuto's glowing eyes to be quite creepy when I was younger. O_o

27th October 2011, 12:13 AM
The Kabuto in their fossil form creeped me out. The episode was mainly meh though. Ash and Tracey were especially annoying at the begining of the episode begging to help them and stuff. The reporter didn't bother me and neither did Nurse Joy or the old man so that's a plus for this episode.

20th January 2012, 2:17 PM
Them Kabuto were quite creepy. I wasn't overly enjoying this episode, I much preferred that 'fossil episode' from the first series. The reporter was quite annoying. I think Team Rocket needed more air time in this one!

30th January 2012, 2:52 PM
This episode was creepy with all those Kabutos, I never liked them. LOL Nurse Joy was there carrying the Kabuto fossil and the red moon was really ominous & scary. There were questions left unanswered as well.

6th February 2012, 6:35 PM
Great episode! Kabuto is cute! Nice to see a crapload of Kabuto! The reporter was pretty funny. One of the worst episodes of the Original Series, which means it's awesome. 8/10.

This episode is really mysterious. Perfect for ancient Pokémon. I remember watching this a long while ago and this episode always made me really fascinated with Pokémon again, just when I felt it became kind of repetitive, they come out with those really interesting episodes that gets your attention again. So, really solid episode.

It was creepy with the red moon, but that's what made it so good. The old guy did annoy me to be honest. I know he was trying to help, but he could have gotten the gang killed while doing it. Yay! Staryu was used.

14th July 2013, 12:00 PM
This episode was kinda creepy, It was nice too see all those Kabuto in their fossil form. The Red Moon was ominous, I liked how those Kabutos were swimming towards the moonlight to find a safe home.

I watched this episode again last night and it slayed so hard. It's definitely one of my favorite Orange Islands episodes; it was just plain creepy in parts and really intense especially during the last five minutes when the island started breaking apart. I also laughed when James was getting tickled by a Kabuto, and the way one of them just casually popped the balloon was funny too. I loved the ending when all the Kabuto went to find a new home; my favorite BGM played during that scene. I really loved this episode.

This episode was definitely, so far in this season, the creepiest and most intense in some parts.

This was kind of a random episode especially near the end when the red moon made the Kabuto awaken and the island sank into the sea. I enjoyed how everyone worked together to get off the island before the disaster tho.

Lol what a crack episode. I liked seeing Kabuto have some importance here because up till now it only had a small appearance in the Aerodactyl episode...

Lol what a crack episode. I liked seeing Kabuto have some importance here because up till now it only had a small appearance in the Aerodactyl episode...

I liked seeing Kabutos doing something as well even tho in my opinion it would've been twice as interesting if we had seen at least one evolve into Kabutops during the Team Rocket balloon scene hee hee.

21st May 2016, 3:57 AM
I thought that the crimson moon scenes were amazing and it's just too bad that we only saw Kabuto and not more fossil Pokemon here. 7/10

8th July 2016, 12:31 AM
I would've liked to see an Aerodactyl here, but the Kabuto were good enough. I liked how the old man was trying to scare every one away.

I liked how the old man was trying to scare every one away.

He almost killed people tho, like when he pushed that huge boulder. His only redeeming quality was that he told everyone how to escape the island by building rafts. ^^;

16th September 2016, 3:23 PM
I really love the reporter in this episode. She's got so much personality

24th October 2016, 11:06 PM
This was a great episode because even though it was filler, it was more intense than most episodes. The Kabuto resurrection that happened when the moon turned red was great to watch, especially when they accidentally popped the Rocket-dan's balloon. The sinking island imagery itself was really compelling.

7th November 2016, 2:04 AM
This was an interesting episode because it raises so many questions that are unanswered, like why were the Kabuto all together on that island anyway, and why were they in hibernation? :x
