This ep,was kinda boring. It was cool to watch what the pokemon do with out Ash,but the whole episode seemed pretty pridictable

This episode reminded me a lot of the movie shorts (and "Turning Over a Nuzleaf"), with most of the attention being on the pokemon and not so much on the twerps or Team Rocket. It had a lot of funny moments, like the three pokemon pulling on each other's faces, the pokemon blaming Meowth with snorlax (LOL), and Totodile dancing as it broke itself free from the sand pile. :) Ash and Brock's funny falls into the hot springs were great too. It's not the best of episodes, but at least it's amusing.

Finnally, Chickorita gets a roll in an episode. One of my favorite episodes!

This was the only episode that Johto Starter Pokemon were the main stars. The relationship between Chikorita and Cyndaquil was adorable.

Haha, Aipom's debut in the anime. That little b*stard, who knew they'd make such a big deal out of one 6 seasons later?

This episode was boring...but fun. ________________________

to me it was cool and misterious

Lol, an Aipom steals something from Ash, since he gets his own "stealing" Aipom much later :p

I think it was a great episode. It's one of my all-time favorite "Pokemon" episodes. By the way, as I recall one of the scenes from that episode, Ash was about to play with his inflateible Master Ball-like beach ball with Pikachu and the rest of his Pokemon and friends. Then there was somthing I thought was unusial, ASH HAD MUSELES!!! He even looked really cool in those green swiming trunks. For a 10 year old kid, he sure knows how to exersise! After all, he wants to be the greatest Pokemon master that's out there.

I remember watching this episode one friday afterschool.

I was happy that there was some kind of cameo of a Master Ball, even though it was a Beachball. Guess Misty/Kasumi keeps it somewhere, maybe another dimension.

This was a nice filler, even though it focused mostly on Ash's Pokemon instead of Ash.

It was pretty funny when Chikorita and Totodile started fighting and they all pull each others cheeks.

I thought it was cute when Chikorita, Totodile, and Cyndaquill learned to get along and worked together to get themselves out the cave.

My favorite quote;

Ash: The Pokemon sure are having a blast, arn't they Misty?

Misty: If you ask me, it looks like their fighting.

(Shows Pokemon pulling eachothers cheeks)

Ash: (To Pokemon) Hey guys, Misty thinks your fighting. Let's show her she's wrong and get that ball!

(Pokemon runs away)

Ash: (To Misty) See Misty, they get along just like we do.

Misty: (With worried expression) I sure hope not.

That part made me laugh!

I overall rate this episode four stars.

A nice episode focusing on the Pokemon alone especially the Johto starters, I enjoyed it.

4th April 2008, 8:02 AM
I don't know why an Aipom stole the ball from Chikorita, but I loved the relationships with it and Cyndaquil. And yes, I loved it when Team Rocket got carried away by a large wave going to the river and fell in the falls thanks to a wild Snorlax. too bad, Ash and co. isn't the star of the episode.

7th January 2009, 11:58 AM
It's cool to watch the Pokemon with humans barely depicted at all. Great episode :P

26th January 2009, 7:33 PM
just another episode where ash is being robbed by pokemon, it's a bit too much if you ask me, it's still pretty decent but i've seen better.

12th March 2009, 11:32 PM
why go after Aipon only for a beach ball?
let they keep it..they can buy another one at the next market

8th May 2009, 12:07 AM
I like watching how Ash's pokemon interact with one another. I found it amusing watching Chikorita be with Totodile and Cyndaquil. I also thought it was funny when the three Johto starters blamed Meowth for waking Snorlax. I also laughed when they were fighting and pulling each others faces. I liked Aipom in this. I thought it was cute for them to steal the beach ball.

10th June 2009, 11:23 PM
I thought it was a pretty good episode. I think the way that Totodile helping Meowth, even though he was the bad guy, was so adorable!! It was funny when Cyndaquil used Flamethrower on Snorlax. I'm like, "Woah. I never knew that SNORLAX, of all Pokemon, could jump THAT high!!"

8th September 2009, 3:04 AM
I thought this episode was boring but I love when Ash slips on a banana

9th November 2009, 9:52 PM
I really liked this episode. It was a nice change of pace and it featured the pokemon instead of Ash and Team Rocket, which was a nice change. My favorite parts were where they begin fighting and the fights throughout the episode. I also really liked how the Aipom acted towards Chikorita and its reactions.

9th November 2009, 10:01 PM
It was a funny episode actually. I remember hoping that Ash would catch one of those Aipom since they reminded me so much of Primeape, only less violent haha. A side note, it is odd that there would be hot springs in Johto but that change of environment made this episode stand out. It's not everyday that we get a hot springs in the Pokemon anime. 7/10.

8th December 2009, 10:25 AM
Not bad episode.

I thought that Aipom love human's pokemon, but i wrong. and if i'm not mistaken that Snorlax was giant, wow. it really was huge.

1st December 2010, 2:58 AM
A great episode. However, subtitles would've been nice. Just like Season 1 episode "Island of the giant Pokémon" (it was subtitled in the Netherlands).

Chikorita pushing Cyndaquil in the cave was funny.

It has good and bad parts

I didn't like the episode that much... It was cool seeing Aipom for the 1st time. This was a filler I felt they really didn't need to have. Ash slipping on the banana was very funny. That Master Ball Beach Ball was really cool. Too bad Ash has never had a Master Ball yet...

8th May 2011, 3:32 PM
This episode was ok seeing Aipom was cool though. This was an ok filler. Master ball beach ball was cool.

17th July 2011, 1:23 PM
I liked this episode. Mainly because I like the johto starters. 9/10

It's Wigglytuff!
Nice to finally see an episode based more on the Pokémon rather than The Twerps. This was an alright filler, although a bit pointless. lol Snorlax moving causing Rock Slides!

14th September 2012, 11:40 AM
This episode was a better version of that filler episode right after Tracy got that Scyther in my opinion. This episode showed some minuscule character development on the Pokémon and that's what I liked about this episode . Still though, It could have been done better.

16th September 2012, 3:34 AM
A nice episode focusing on the Johto starters. Seeing Chikorita and Cyndaquil interacting was very cute. Jessie & Wobbuffet made this episode very enjoyable.

It was a cute Starter Pokemon episode. It was nice to see them settle out their differences.

19th August 2013, 12:31 PM
This was just another filler episode where the main group's Pokemon gets seperated from them, but I think this filler episode was somewhat decent. It's nice to see Ash's Johto starters and the other Pokemon solving their problem without their trainers.
Ash's Johto starters and the other Pokemon solving their problem without their trainers was good, I liked their interactions in this episode.

5th June 2014, 9:55 PM
This episode was not bad in my opinion. Nice to see the Pokémon play with the Master Ball toy as a volleyball and the fighting scene between the three starters. I like Nyarth being a Pokémon more than a member of Rocket Dan because of the interaction between him and the starters.

How were Ash and Brock finding a hot spring comfortable when it was clearly already hot outside?

Episodes where it focuses on the Pokemon instead of the human characters for most of the episode are always entertaining.
Now I want my own Master Ball beach ball! :)

I thought it was cool how Chikorita, Cyndaquil and Totodile had to work together to retrieve the beach ball from Aipom. I also liked how the beach ball was shaped like a Master ball like the one we saw in Kanto. :3

8th April 2016, 11:05 PM
Aipom should've gotten captured here instead of one being caught in the BF saga. This was just a standard filler without that...

31st May 2016, 2:01 AM
I like seeing Ash's pals and him relaxing at the hot springs and the Johto Pokemon hanging out was a welcome change. A good filler. 8/10

I'm glad that Aipom wasn't caught by Ash here cuz Ash's team was full already and if he had caught Aipom then he would've likely removed Bulbasaur from his team to make room.

9th June 2016, 11:22 PM
I liked seeing a tropical paradise in Johto + the Master Ball beach ball seemed very familiar, as if we saw that before.

Well that's because we saw one just like it in the 'Beauty and the Beach' lost episode from Kanto. ^^

Ash's pokemon are adorable this episode!

Those wild Eipam seemed very irksome, but I'll admit that I chuckled when an Eipam buried Waninoko in the sand. The fact that Satoshi, Kasumi, and Takeshi had such small roles compared to Chikoriita, Hinoarashi, and Waninoko was great, because the Jouto Starters needed this kind of carefree interaction for once.

29th August 2017, 9:38 AM
Good filler episode featuring the Johto starters. It's nice to see them settle differences aside and retrieve the lost Master Ball beach ball. It was funny seeing how the Johto starters planned to get Snorlax to move and then thinking Meowth was the one being responsible.

It was funny seeing how the Johto starters planned to get Snorlax to move

Their dilemma here vaguely reminded me of how Satoshi's group once had to move a sleeping Kabigon in Kanto, which was a nice callback.

1st December 2017, 12:46 AM
I didn't get this filler. Why was it needed and why did Aipom get such little attention compared to Johto's Starters?
