You know, this movie is ten times better upon a second viewing. When I first watched it last weekend, any story relating to deoxys got missed among all the fighting and exploding and high-tech gadgets in this episode. Even after they explained about Deoxys's friend, it didn't make much sense. When I watched the movie for the second time Thursday and Friday (I started too late), though, the movie made a whole lot more sense, and I could see the things I missed, like Rayquaza changing his mind about deoxys after the two try to shelter him from the boxes. I also really liked Tory on the first and second viewings. He was an interesting character, though the whole thing about a character being afraid of pokemon or hating them had been done several times before (like "The Joy of Water Pokemon"). I was moved like him about the whole plusle/minun separation and reunion.

There are a few other things I liked about the movie. I loved Sid!!! :D Even though I'm pretty sure I'm a contestshipper, I really liked this guy. The part where he runs for May and slams into Metagross is hilarious. I also like the return of a few things from the past in the movies and the show, like Team Rocket being helpful in the movie (not seen since 4Ever), Team Rocket ending the movie (again 4Ever), Jessie's red hair (yay!!), and Professor Ivy (I guess Brock's gotten past "Don't mention that name!"). Now if only they could bring back the opening credit music varations and the motto in the movies. :(

Overall, it's not one of the better movies, but at least it's pretty good. I'd give it three stars out of five.

Well, just because someone hates or fears Pokemon doesn't mean that he/she is the only one, or one of very few. There could be millions in the Pokemon world that hate or fear Pokemon for their own personal reasons. Just like Tori, his reaction to Pokemon is only a result of his traumatizing experience several years before during the first Deoxys appearance. If that doesn't frighten a little child into hiding, then I don't know what does.

about La Rossue...

it's very odd that in the pokemon world that La Russoe has such advanced technology while other cities don't, it makes them seem very primtive...

then again, this sort of problem isn't really new... happens all the time in RPGs... one city's a technological paradise while the other's harvesting dirt

plus we only get to see advanced techology in the movies nowadays anyway :\

Yeah, some places just can't afford the technology other places have. LaRousse seems rather prosperous, although there haven't been many cities we've seen that AREN'T that way. Still, it's never really explained as to WHY there's so much advanced techonology there, so there might be a good reason that we don't know.

I thought it wasn't coming out until the 15th of this month, but there it was at Blockbuster in front of my face. I had 2 get it. But, does anybody know what the heck happened to the Pikachu short? It's not in it.

I saw it and I see what you mean. When Deoxys fully regenerated and came out of the water, it reminded me of Jeepers creepers when it moved its face toward the camera. XD

When I heard about Pokemon 7, I thought it was going to be the most exciting Pokemon movie ever. But, as always, I'm wrong.

Pokemon 7-Destiny Deoxys

Story-
It really isn't bad if you think about it. I kept saying to myself that the Deoxys vs Rayquaza fight was the subplot, but wrong again. The best plot of the movie is probably the struggle between Tori and overcoming his fear in Pokemon. But, they could of proved that Tori isn't afraid of Pokemon anymore by showing him in a battle. That robot malfunction was bound to happen.
8/10

Animation-
Good as always.
9/10

Dub-
Meh. Can't really say much here. It just didn't make sense in some parts.
6.5/10

Final Score-
It's not the best but it's still good.
8/10

Better than: Jirachi Wish Maker
Not as good as: Heroes
Wait for it: The 8th movie

I'm usually passive towards Dub Error, but this time that line really ticked me off. There's only ONE Rayquaza, just like there's only ONE Groudon and ONE Kyogre. They need to choose their words more carefully.
Perhaps, but was it a dub error? Did the original scene not have the lady say "a" Rayquaza?

Nah. Were it Outrage, Rekkuuza would have gotten confused long ago. And I doubt Rekkuuza was really protecting the world or anything. Seemed more like it had a deep grudge on Deoxys for almost smashing into it. If Rekkuuza was trying to protect the place, it wouldn't have recklessly blasted Hyper Beams everywhere and destroyed buildings left and right.
That would be a good point, but from what I recall Rayquaza never actually destroyed any buildings until it and Deoxys crashed through the main tower at the very end of the fight. Before that it simply fired Hyper Beam at the shadow clones. The beams did damage, but they always seemed to end up hitting empty streets. Indeed, it got to the point where I WANTED a beam to actually damage a building, not that I'm certain Rayqauza was intentionally trying not to topple buildings, but it didn't seem to be firing randomly like the legendary birds did when they went nuts in the second movie.

Gotta disagree. The animation was pretty..meh alot of the time. Especially with Satoshi trying to run. xX
What I didn't like were some of the computer-animated scenes involving Rayquaza flying about at a distance, it looked positively awful in some of them. It's body was horribly stiff, and the grace and beauty and flexibility of some of its close-ups only emphasized that. I'd rather have a poorly detailed, flexible image than a crisp computer-animated on that has little more flexibility than a pencil.

The impression I got was that Rayquaza doesn't much care about any minor surface features, such as humans. Its duties as a protector are on a planetary scale, where one city more or less makes no difference at all. In fact, I suspect that the only reason it got involved in the Kyogre/Groudon conflict was that they were messing with weather systems.
Perhaps, and certainly to a degree, but the kindness it showed Pikachu seems to argue it has some sense of perspective. But as we saw in the first movie, when it comes to their territory most Pokemon seem to lose all sense of reason and even fight to the death if it comes to that.

This conflict with Deoxys seemed more of a personal grudge than a greater duty.
Maybe, but then there is the little problem of why it used Ice Beam (to contain and immobilize it for questioning perhaps) when it first encountered Deoxys, and only started to attack to destroy when Deoxys started fighting back. It's subtle and probably a bit wrong but it seems to support that Rayquaza first suspected then became certain Deoxys was a threat that needed to be destroyed.

If it was a grudge, one wonders what exactly Deoxys did that upset Rayqauza on such a personal level. With Pokemon like Lunatone and Solrock about Deoxys couldn't have been the first one to pass through Rayquaza's territory.

He was an interesting character, though the whole thing about a character being afraid of pokemon or hating them had been done several times before (like "The Joy of Water Pokemon"). I was moved like him about the whole plusle/minun separation and reunion.
Well there was a minor difference. That nurse Joy hated Water types, wasn't just afraid fo them, and seemed content to not even try to change herself. Tori on the other hand didn't hate Pokemon, he freely admitted to liking them and wanting to be close to them (if I recall right a scene explaining this abit was cut from the TV airing), but his subconscious fears wouldn't let him. He knew he shouldn't be afraid, and didn't want to be afraid, but he was nonetheless, which is something that happens to real people quite often.

the only Pokemon movies that are good is 1, and 2.

The distinction does not exist in the Japanese language, which does not include any articles, indefinite or otherwise. Rekkuuza could mean a Rayquaza, the Rayquaza, or "Rayquaza" as a proper name.

WOOT! I went searching for it yesterday to see if anyone had it out early and BAM! There in Blockbuster it was. I was jumping up and down in the parking lot, I was so excited. I didn't get to catch it on Kids WB.

WOW. The movie was freaking AWESOME. I mean, it was really animé-ish and SUSPENSFUL. I was really surprised. I wasn't expecting it to be that good.

My only complaints:

I didn't really like the "This Side of Paradise" song, but according to Dogasu it's better than the alternative Jap song.

Rayquaza served no purpose other than action, really. He could've been left out and the story would've worked just fine.

TR was snubbed yet again. Blah.

All in all, my favorite Pokémon movie by far. I hope the 8th flick is just as good.

*shrugs* Someone mentioned in this topic a while ago that they found it at Blockbuster, and I had nothing better to do last night, so I went looking. I searched three towns, mine included. I looked in Target, several Wal-Marts, three Blockbusters (found it on the last one), and a Border's.

Well, I took some pictures of the DVD and junk, but they're taking forever to upload onto photobucket. I'll post a link once they finally do.

After hearing about Blockbuster having them, I went to mine and low and behold, there were two copies for sale there, so I picked one up. I liked the Deoxys card even though I haven't played the TCG in years, and I liked the rebate idea, but I didn't take the reciept at Blockbuster, and besides, I don't want to have to cut up my covers.

Anyway, I thought the DVD was pretty nice. Like always, the fullscreen really bothered me, especially during the credits, where TONS of material was cut off, especially during the "Pokemon Dance" thing at the end. Unfortunately NOTHING was widescreen, unlike Jirachi: Wishmaker, which had the quiz and ending in widescreen.

Content-wise, I saw this on KidsWB, and I was happy to see what they cut out, especially Jessie rubbing her butt on the block-bot thing. Heheh. It wasn't my favorite out of all of the movies, and I continuously checked to see how much was left, but it was a nice way to spend the night, but that could of happened because I've already seen it. Anyway, I'd say it's about my 3rd favorite out of them all, behind Jirachi: Wishmaker and Heroes.

This one is my favorite by far, but I also love Heroes and Jirachi Wish Maker.

Haha, Blockbuster's gonna get in trouble!

Yeah, I was being sarcastic, but I do remember a few years ago when the first Harry Potter flick came out on DVD and VHS, an Ingle's here put it out early and another video store reported them. They got fined. It was a huge scandal. Ah, life in a small town...

Meowth: Whats a Passport
james: I don't know what a pass is, but Meowth would you stop calling me sport!

and in the other cut scene with Munchlax

Munchlax: Jumps in the air and lands.

Everyone pauses.

Perhaps it's just my TV settings, but when the ~Paradise song began, it was a heck of a lot quieter than the one played on KidsWB. You could heard the tune fine, but the words would get really soft.

On the plus though, this meant I could hear the voices a lot better. I know it's a pain for people to listen to, but Grovyle might just keep his rather high Dub voice. Mind you this was a split-second voice clip that I was listening hard too so don't take it too seriously. Swellow's voice, on the other hand, sounded more like a mix between Taillow and the first Swellow this time. Combusken still has its "..Wailord of a Time" voice, but how could you hate that, heh heh.

Eh, I'm dissapointed with the decision to keep Grovyles voice the same. His badass factor just dropped down by 40% at least.
I'm not really fond of either Swellow's orignal voice or the dub one, so I don't really care about the bird~ Although, I could've sworn Swellow and Grovyle's dub voices sound almost pretty much the same in the series*scratches head*

As for Combusken...well, if there wasn't a swear filter in place, I'd insert a certain word begining with 'F' into this very sentance that I'm typing...right aboooout....now.
...yeah, I didn't like how they handled its voice acting. So, I guess that makes me unique-guy #1 considering nobody else seems to have a problem with that voice? :P

Oh, and I just find out about the 'On Location with the Director' section of thid DVD. They, according to someone at Bulbagarden, dubbed over his voice. With Tracey's voice. I wish I was joking.

So yeah. American Kids are officially stupid because 4Kids think they can't read subtitles. You can just hear the Americans of the future: "Japan? I've never heard of such a crazy soundin' country. Does it have oil?" >.>

I've got a good ear for things. They sound quite similar, but Swellow's (and this is me not finding the right word) is goofier. Vito's Swellow that is. And I don't know how else to put it.

When I first heard it, the biggest appealing factor was that it had something different from the standard. Kind of like when Shedinja was introduced. Now, if they want to sell that voice, they need to give it verying tone levels, instead of just "Com-BUSken" all the time.

Thanks for confirming though V. Any word on Bulbasaur at all? I'm assuming its going to be the same as Ash's in terms of voice.

Bulbasaur's is the same. Twas a little nice to ear it after so long. I think that's going to go over well because the last we heard Bulbasaur (Silver Conference) it was a little off. After hearing Magikarp and Tentacool though, I have high hopes.

At the end, though, I almost thought that when Tory was doing that nuzzle thing with Plusle and Minun (those guys rock!) I half expected them to shock Tory out of his wits and send him into another little spaz state. Heh...that would be kinda funny though....
Ohohoho...that would have been very funny for us viewers. Here's the scene I thought of:

*Tory, Plusle, & Minun do the nuzzle thing.*

*Plusle winks at Minun then they zap Tory.*

Tory: "Nasty creatures of PokeHell! Get away from me!" *Hurls a robot cube at the Pokemon*

I can't see the 5th, 6th, or this one that just came out until I can get competely caught up on the TV series of the Advanced and the Advanced Challenge series. I stopped watching Pokemon after the Johto League Championships. I've just until a few days ago got back into watching Pokemon. This is what I get for leaving the series for let's see a year or 2. :(

The 7th was good, but not the best. It got kinda of samey, and lacked any real depth to the story. I find the movies that revolve around a legend or lore the best, as they would have the most engaging storyline. For example, Jirachi Wish Maker.
I like how they include May's little wish trinket thing. It something that would keep you guessing, and could hold a deeper symbolism in the film. And the Groudon scenes just plain rule.
But yeah, DD seemed to drag on a bit, and I got bored by the end. At least I got a promo card out of it!

Destiny Deoxys is one of the best Pokemon movies i've seen (even though i've only watched movies 1, 2, 3, and 7 ;) ). i saw it when the WB aired it one morning in the US. to me, it was some of the best animation i've seen in a Pokemon movie. plus, the scenes with Gonby were adorable ^_^.

I have Destiny Deoxys on my computer and when i saw it once, i realized that when Ash and Tori faces Sid and Rafe in the Battle Tower, someone that looks exactly like Ash is sitting in the audience.

Evidence: Ash's Twin (http://img220.echo.cx/img220/2888/ash22xy.png)

Discuss.

EDIT: It might be kinda unclear to see when the pic is so small but when you look at it in big picture, you might think that Ash really HAS a twin brother.

*Makes you wonder where Ash's dad really is.

After reading the first few pages of this topic, im starting to think that this movie had quite a lot of mistakes and well, slight errors in it. Geez, you really remind of people who only play certain Xbox games because they have better graphics than all the other systems. But lets face it some people are just plain picky! i am too, but more food wise. I seriously doubt 7 was the worst. In my opinion, that Mewtwo sequel was a mistake. it doesnt fit anywhere in the movie section because it practically branches off from the johto series, but makes look more crude. If you want my opinion, i did not like wish maker that much, i think the Groudon near the end wrecked most of it.

If you want the rest of my opinion it should go like this from best to so-so: 5,7,6. Because i was expecting previews of 5 before 4(dont know what happened there), 4 in my opinion wasnt very good.

7 had quite a few good things about it. IMO the only slight bad things were this:
- Team Rocket APPEARING(why oh why did they have to stay, why?!?!?!)
- Rayquaza using Hyper Beam more than 5 times(i think youre able to safely count around 11)
- Me missing the opening scene(dammit!)

THERE YOU GO!!

I gives this movie a 5/10 why?

Pros:
-Deoxys
-Cool Fighting Scenes
-It's Pokemon

Cons:
First off they made Rayquaza look dumb. He was pretty much fighting for no reason. In fact all the fighting in the movie was pointless and dumb.

What about Deoxys? What did we learn about him? Nothing Much, except his vision is weird, that he was looking for his "Friend", and that he came from an asteriod. They could of put more background information on him! Why was he on an asteriod, where did he come from, how was he born? No instead of that they put scenes of some wimp named Tori... (He's cute... but to wimpy) Deoxys in the game was cool, he was a mutated space virus! Yet in the anime he was just a uber pokemon that came from an asteriod!

Then there's the floating blocks. It's amazing how that they can defeat three uber pokemon. FEAR THE POWER OF THE FLOATING BLOCKS! (I'm shaking!)

Oh and Ash ended up saving the day! WHAT?! Oh my gosh that is amazing! Like he never did that before!!! God I am sick and tired of Ash being the hero! Why not May or Brock? Did the writers forget about them?

I just wish the pokemon movies would be a bit darker, I mean aren't you just tired of. LET's NOT FIGHT! LET's BE FRIENDS! Every single time? And Munchlax? They could of shown maybe a more intresting new pokemon! But no! Munchlax...

Seriously if you look at it the whole movie was poinless. Rayquaza was fighting Deoxys for no reason. I mean all that damage happened just over nothing! It could of all been avoided. Just because the movie has the name Pokemon in it... doesn't make it good.

In my opinion, the movies are becoming much more repitive just like the show.

This movie was entertaining but it dissapointed me also.
Rayquaza barely had a role other than to destroy buildings and such. And Deoxys would've been alot better if it had the same genre as Mewtwo, but still, it was good.

I give it 3/5.

First off they made Rayquaza look dumb. He was pretty much fighting for no reason. In fact all the fighting in the movie was pointless and dumb.
I admit most of the fighting was unnecessary in that it was based on misunderstandings, but it wasn't dumb. Since you seem to not have read any of the rest of the topic where these things were discussed, I'll list a few major points I've come to believe, most of them not explicitly stated in the movie but certainly indicated.

Rayquaza is an extremely territorial Pokemon, and one of its main task is to protect the planet from outside invasions. If you notice in the beginning the asteroid Deoxys is on nearly rams into Rayquaza. Rayquaza thus believes that Deoxys intended to attack it, that it is a hostile alien force etc. So it heads down to Earth, at first intent not on really battling but containing the percieved "threat." That is why the very first attack it uses on Deoxys is an Ice Beam (all other times it fires Hyper Beams). It wanted to trap Deoxys, perhaps even question it later. However Deoxys breaks free and (Pokemon have volatile emotions after all) defends itself and its mate/companion from the attacker. Rayquaza in turns then aims to destroy Deoxys as it seems to have confirmed itself as an aggressor unlike those Celfairy, Lunatone and such that regularly pass through the atmosphere.

Once it is destroyed Rayquaza returns to its home, but its keen senses detect Deoxy's presence when it regenerates years later. As for Deoxys only wants to get its companion back, and the myriad lifeforms and electrical equipment in the area make it impossible for Deoxys to see clearly enough. Being unable to communicate with the humans and probably the native Pokemon, it proceeds to simply, non-violently remove them so it can search more easily.

Rayquaza itself doesn't take much notice of the humans but doesn't try to harm them either. It simply concentrates all its fire on Deoxys, innocents being put in danger only when Rayquaza is thrown by an attack or Deoxys dodges an attack meant for it and the beam then heads down to the ground or a building.

What about Deoxys? What did we learn about him? Nothing Much, except his vision is weird, that he was looking for his "Friend", and that he came from an asteriod. They could of put more background information on him! Why was he on an asteriod, where did he come from, how was he born?
Indeed, but it was supposed to be an extremely mysterious creature. And more was revealed about Deoxys than that. Why we don't know, but it seemed the two Deoxys were riding on the asteroid more than being native to it. In the end they simply return to space, making it appear they are a nomadic species that wanders the universe.

We also learn that they communicate via patterns of light and energy, as well as their "wierd" vision, which seems to be an optical form of a shark's ability to detect electricity in living things. Moreover they possess a unique body structure, with most of their body apparently being a extension of a "true form" the crystal core.

Deoxys in the game was cool, he was a mutated space virus! Yet in the anime he was just a uber pokemon that came from an asteriod!
It's interesting to me how they combined the anime and games aspects. In the game Deoxys is a space virus mutated by a laser, while in the anime it requires energy from a laser (or another Deoxys or other powerful source) to regenerate from its core state.

Then there's the floating blocks. It's amazing how that they can defeat three uber pokemon. FEAR THE POWER OF THE FLOATING BLOCKS! (I'm shaking!)
Well they weren't beaten by them, just buried. ^_^

Oh and Ash ended up saving the day! WHAT?! Oh my gosh that is amazing! Like he never did that before!!! God I am sick and tired of Ash being the hero! Why not May or Brock? Did the writers forget about them?
Ash is the main character, the hero, how could he not have a major role? Sure, May and Brock didn't have to get shafted, but at least Max got to costar with Ash in the sixth movie.

I just wish the pokemon movies would be a bit darker, I mean aren't you just tired of. LET's NOT FIGHT! LET's BE FRIENDS! Every single time?
Darker might be nice, but it wouldn't make sense for the main characters to want a peaceful solution. I would like more stuff like "Mewtwo Strikes Back," but when you set up a show with a ground rule being "no Pokemon is truly evil" it kind of limits how much you can do. Basically you're left with evil people, their machines, and Pokemon who serve the people. Which still leaves many possibilities, but this will never and should never become like Evangelion or even Trigun. You have to accept Pokemon for what it is, a show that can be slightly dark but is mostly about showing positive things in everyone.

Good Points...

But the violence in my opinion was still way to pointless. I would of understand if Deoxys did attack Rayquaza first. But it was him who sent the first blow. Even if Rayquaza was territorial. Rayquaza seemed stereotypical. He was the giant green lizard who caused a lot of destruction. Also in the games he was supposed to be a "peacemaker" however the anime seems to destroy that image in my opinion.

"Ash is the main character, the hero, how could he not have a major role? Sure, May and Brock didn't have to get shafted, but at least Max got to costar with Ash in the sixth movie"

I don't hate Ash it's just that the whole "I'm the Hero! It's up to me." or "I'm the chosen one" that is just old and predictable. I'm not saying he shouldn't have a magor role, but so should the other main charecters (May, Max, and Brock) And most of the episodes in the anime are centered around Ash.

"Well they weren't beaten by them, just buried. ^_^"

Why couldn't three really powerful pokemon (Who can fly) escape from blocks? Don't they have powerful attacks? Even if there was millions of blocks, a few hyper beams, and phyco boost could do the trick. Yet two human kids were not buried by blocks...

"Indeed, but it was supposed to be an extremely mysterious creature. And more was revealed about Deoxys than that. Why we don't know, but it seemed the two Deoxys were riding on the asteroid more than being native to it. In the end they simply return to space, making it appear they are a nomadic species that wanders the universe.

Moreover they possess a unique body structure, with most of their body apparently being a extension of a "true form" the crystal core."

They also could of revealed more of information on Deoxys. Sure learning about Deoxys's cool abilites is nice. But don't we all already know that Deoxys is a killer pokemon? (I do XD) I want to learn about it's origins or what makes this pokemon so legendary...

"It's interesting to me how they combined the anime and games aspects. In the game Deoxys is a space virus mutated by a laser, while in the anime it requires energy from a laser (or another Deoxys or other powerful source) to regenerate from its core"

Not really, look at Deoxys (Purple Gem) he didn't regenerate from a laser. However I do get you're point XD.

"Since you seem to not have read any of the rest of the topic where these things were discussed, I'll list a few major points I've come to believe, most of them not explicitly stated in the movie but certainly indicated."

Umm I stopped reading when most of the posts became: "OMG! This is like the bestest Pokemon Movie ever!" No offense.

Anyways does are just my opinions. I would of been less harsh on the movie if they would done better job with the ending. In fact the only saving grace for the movie in my eyes was Deoxys (Who is one of my favorite pokemon).

Also darker doesn't mean Nudity and Violence, what I meant by that was for the movies to be a bit mature. (Like the first movie) and I don't mean fill the movie with senseless violence (Like the seventh movie). Also I never said I want pokemon to be evil. The movies could be a bit darker even without evil pokemon. The First Movie was a key example of what I mean.

I didn't say I hate the anime. It's just I think that at sometime it has to mature.

I do wish they had made Rayquaza more obviously intelligent like the games do, but I will say in its defense it may have thought that the near miss with the meteor was Deoxys attacking it unprovoked, when it was really just an unfortunate coincidence that it was flying right where the meteor fell.

I didn't say I hate the anime. It's just I think that at sometime it has to mature.
Of course, and you prove yourself a true fan in being honest about your criticisms. I myself wish that the movies had more villains. We haven't had a true villain since the fifth movie, or a really evil villain since the fourth movie. FYI,I don't consider the magician from the sixth movie to be a villain, more just obsessed with proving his theories.

I don't mean to sound harsh on the anime. I prefer the manga more though...

I really like Deoxys and I was really hyped for the movie. It was a huge dissapointment for me. Like I said before the only reason I didn't give the movie a 1/10 was because of Deoxys.

What can we do? Nothing I guess, just hope for better movies.

Pokemon 4ever - 2004
Pokemon Heroes - 2005

does this mean we'll get the 6th movie in 2006? If so Destiny Deoxys will arrive in 2007. *sigh* two whole years of waiting

but yeah in the US Cartoon Network it showed the 6th and 7th movie twice, they wouldn't stop playing the Totally Spies movie though, Jesh if they showed the 5th/6th/7th Pokemon movie instead I'd have seen all but the 8th. *sigh*

Well, it depends on your definition of a villain. I see the villain of a movie as the antagonist. In that case, Butler is the villain. However, what you're saying is correct. He wasn't truly evil.

I want to see more EVIL adversaries, as well. I wish they'd give us just a truly evil by nature Pokémon. I realize this will never happen, but having a Pokémon as the villain (a la Mewtwo and, even though it's intentions were pure, Deoxys) is so interesting.

Oh, and about Rayquaza using Hyper Beam more than five times... WHO CARES?! Seriously, the anime has never followed the rules of the games, why should it start with something as trivial as that?

All I can say is that's gonna be Japan in the year 2020 or something. Although I hope it doesn't go as bad as in the movie. :D This movie kind of made me fall asleep. and why when Ash and Pikachu get their all high and mighty spot light inthe movies it involves them flying through the sky? I mean can anyone say "Peter Pan" with me? and Ash sucks at keeping his balance. A lot of the characters were really pushed back in this movie. I mean I know Ash is the main character but come on? The others are just as important. and poor Team Rocket they maybe bad guys but hey they deserve some kind of respect. They might as well just get cut out entirely as much screen time their given in the movies. I wish 4kids would get some new voices when there's new characters. and some of the lines in it were just corny like they normally are. Especially towards the end. Ash "Pikachu I'm glad you and I will always have each other" *gags* I give this movie a 5/10.

I finally watched my DVD of the movie last night, and I really enjoyed the scenes that weren't in the original TV version. Jessie fighting the hamburger machine and taunting the main computer was hilarious. :D So was James telling Meowth not to call him 'sport'. The extra Sid/May and Brock/Rebecca moments on the balcony and the end credits were great too. :D The part at the very end of the end credits with all the pokemon waving pom poms was cute too (I wish Wobbuffet had shown up there, though, when he was nowhere in the movie). I'm also glad they had that fondue scene. It struck me as odd in the TV version how the gang seemed familiar with Munchlax when it came through the grate with plusle and minun, but I couldn't remember them seeing Munchlax previously in the movie. At least the DVD version explained it.

Well, I'm over a year late to the excitement, but I just got the DVD of this today. I saw the KidsWB airing when it aired last January, and was pretty entertained by it (though it's nowhere near my favorite), so I finally decided to pick it up. I'm glad the movie was able to make it to DVD completely and totally uncut, but that makes it all the more puzzling that the original Japanese audio wasn't included. They included a French track, so that proves that 4KIDS and Maramax aren't afraid to let kids know that there are more languages in this world. They even included a Japanese poster gallery. It's just wierd. The fullscreen transfer annoys the crap outta me, but I guess it can't be helped.

I also noticed a second music edit that isn't vocal. In the scene where everyone's eating Brock's cooking, which wasn't shown in the KWB airing, an instrumental version of This Side of Paradise plays in the background. Since This Side of Paradise is a dub-only song, I'm guessing this wasn't in the original version. So my question is: What played in the original Japanese version? An instumental version of L-O-V-E-L-Y ~Yume Miru Raburii Booi~? Dogasu hasn't gotten around to doing the comparison for the actual DVD itself, so I can't tell if anything else has been changed. If anyone can answer this question, I'd really appreciate it.

EDIT: I scrolled through this 18-page long thread and found out that the music was most likely replaced because 4KIDS couldn't get the rights for a certain song. So yeah, there are two official music edits in this movie. Eh, not bad for 4KIDS, I guess.

What parts were cut out in the Dubbed version?

I've seen some scenes of Ash and Pika really weak while a creepy shadow of a Deoxys is inside of fire or something, and I heard the dub cut whatever secne that is out for violence.

Anyone know what happened in the cut scenes?

That's exactly it. Rayquaza, being the guardian of the Earth, was simply protecting us. I think it was even mentioned in the movie too.

Remember how in the beginning, Deoxys' cystal flew past Rayquaza's head, and then Rayquaza went after it? Rayquaza felt like Deoxys was invading its territory, and threatening Earth, so it was only natural for Rayquaza to attack it and try to get it out.

Make sense now?

I really liked this movie. It had suh an otherwordly vibe to it. And also it was a clever story, how Deoxys worked, Tory's fear of PKMN and how he bonded with P&M etc, etc. There was this one hilarious bit where the animators had not really bothered with one of the Rayquaza-Deoxys animation and Rayquaza just seemed to...for the lack of a better word...float across the screen in the top right hand corner in the same position.

I liked the 'Block robots taking over the world' event at the end. ^.^

This movie was awesome. Deoxys was cool and had a cool dub voice. Munchlax was funny. I like the bit they had with the Battle Tower since I always wondered what it was like. I'm kinda glad Tory conquered his fear of pokemon. One of the funniest parts in the movie was when Minun got stuck in the garbage can.

Man. The movie really sucked >_< I though it would be the best Pokémon movie ever because Deoxys is one of the cooler Pokémons. But they ruined him. I should have guessed those idiots who produce the Pokémon anime couldn't get a Deoxys movie done right.
Deoxys should be at least a bit "sinister". I'm sure Gamefreak intended him to be. Otherwise he wouldn't be a mutant virus from outer space. But of course, the idiots who produce the Pokémon anime had to change that part. Because they can't afford to do a movie about a "sinister" Pokémon _-_ Also it didn't make sense that the Deoxys and Rayquaza couldn't destroy the blocks with their rays.

At least I know now I can't trust the people here. Even if they produce a Pokémon movie that is the worst movie ever created, most of the idiots here are gonna say "Wow! The movie rocked!!!!!1!111! I love it!!!111!11one" -_-

*looks up* Sheesh, what's his problem...
Destiny Deoxys was not my favourite movie, but I thought it was still good. Oh, and it was fun to see the similarity of between Lerue city and Vancouver Canada, which I live near. (For those who don't know, the city was based partially off of vancouver)

I found a line in the movie particularely intriguing... "Pokeball Management System." It seems obvious that this refers partially to the system that allows 'extra' Pokémon to be transported back to Oak's (or whoever's) lab for safekeeping. However, it's interesting that it stopped Pokéballs from working when the power failed. I bet that, amoung its other features, Lerue city, monitors Pokémon use to prevent violence, riots, etc. Pretty neat.

I just saw this movie for the first time today, and it was great. Possibly the best Pokemon movie yet, right up there with 3 and 4Ever.

The plot was grand and I loved the high-tech city it was in. It not only made for some awesome looking backgrounds and creative ideas, but some good gags too (Ash and the "Slidewalks").

Munchlax was a blast in this episode, first off with the soda-kick frustration, but also with him eating and constantly being where the food was.

As always, Brock hitting on the girl was funny, but having someone liking May was different and funny too. Oh, and at the hot dog machine, "Got to catch them all!" LOL! Great line! ^_^

The animation was astounding--the best Pokemon animation I've ever seen. A seemless mix of CG and hand-drawn.

And, I loved that song at the end, "This Side of Paradise." One of the best Pokemon songs right up there with "Viridian City" and "CELEB-R-A-T-E"

All and all, Destiny Deoxys gets an enthused thumbs up from me!

I think this was one of the best so far (hold the first three) because it focused less on what the legendary Pokemon could do (Like in M6 "Jirachi can make wishes reality..." Max: "I want a lot of chocolete..." wow exciting) but instead filled it up with a lot of action, especially the length helped it too. It focused more on the conflict the Pokemon was facing, not the Pokemon itself, which movies 4-6 unfortunatly did...

Yeah, this movie is great, and definitly one of my favorits. But im missing more ordinary Pokemon Battles,in the movies. It seems that its focus more on the main pokemon, and their stories, than the human characters, and their Pokemon...

Oddly, I really liked this Movie.

Perhaps, it was because of the different style of Animation. But I'm sure the Original's much better. Now if only I could see it.

I think I really loved the City in which it all happened. Or, maybe it was because the first day I ever saw it was on a Weekend Snow Day, Snow Days are the best!

From the start of Pokemon Destiny Deoxys, I was entranced automatically.
I thought this film had everything that most people wanted: excellent animation, with some CGI (which I don't prefer), some very exciting battle scenes, a wonderful and beautiful location, and a quite interesting and mysterious storyline.

What I enjoyed most about this film was the location itself. It was just so beautiful and interesting. I also like the length of the film and how there was plenty of time for the fun and happy moments.

Saying that, this would have to be my second favourite Pokemon film, after Pokemon Heroes.

Two words: Munch. Lax.

My favourite Pokemon makes his hilarious debut. And Deoxys vs Rayquaza was an awesome battle, both first and second. And the bit with the block swarm was unexpected and funny. And Munchlax sleeping inside the hotdog machine then evolving in the middle of the mayhem added that little touch of fun.

This was the first disappointment in the Pokemon Movie series, not the least of which because they mangled it in it's broadcast form. That was way back in 2004, and I have not watched a Poke film on first-run broadcast since then. No offense to 'Manaphy' and 'Darkrai'.
But think; the movies before didn't need pointless digressions like the Battle Tower and the seqence in the park at night. This film's story didn't have the cohesiveness that past films did.

The funniest scene here is that when the twerps(I call Ash, Misty, Brock, May, and Dawn in my own words as the twerps, named after what TR calls to them lots of times)went to the mall with Max, a block takes a picture of May, shocked(How funny is this?) . Plus, about the battle of Deoxys vs. Rayquaza, it was awesome.

One of the first movies with a character I love and got Yaoi of:D
Man, it's hard to find yaoi of Tory Lund, to bad, because he's so cute:D

The ending song was nice, but each time I download it, it gots a sort of bass I hate, it destroys the whole good song. After that, the intro I never seen a music, only a dozen Pokémons, same as 4th/5th/6th:S But it was a oke movie, but not spectaculair.

Tory is so kawaii simply because of the fact he looks like a girl. XD No offense-but he really does. He looks more like a girl in te comic adaption-specially when he cried and when he was playing with Plusle and Minun. I have no idea why.

Munchlax was funny. It kept wandering around at random taking food and cleaning the place up. It wasn't bad at kicking those bottles into the trash can.

I think the beginning part was the most memorable part of the movie. With the research team in the arctic and Rayquaza versus Deoxys #1.

It was bland to be honest. The colors in this movie were odd. They seemed faded. Anyway, the animation left something to be desired.

I think the plot was ok. Deoxys looking for it's friend was something good for the kids. 6/10
