As you can tell im new to this forum, and possibly to the pokemon world. I remember back in the day i played pokemon blue when i was about, 14yrs old i believe that I was about that age. Well, i really didnt get into it. But my bestfriend was all over it. then I played pokemon Yellow I thought it was exactly like blue and red, So i didnt play. Then on Christmas; i found in my stocking a Pocket pikachu and I fell in love with the little guy, I took him everywhere. Well, it was stolen at an airport in New york. Well, now im alot older and I seen a a preview of the Heartgold/Soulsilver, So im thinking about starting to get into the game series again, The question i have is. that if i go ahead and buy the platinum game will that game contain all the pokemon from the original Blue/Red? I understand I will play the game and encounter different pokemon and such. I'm willing to go on ebay and purchase all i need to, so i can be up to the beat. if I have to go on ebay and buy red/blue/yellow ect ect im willing to do so, I just need kind of a guide to start with. since Im new to this wonderful world of pokemon. again thank you for you're suggestions and help. And im also really sorry if this topic doesn't belong in the part of the forum. ;492-s;

Well welcome to the world of pokemon! I am Professor Oak. People lovingly refer to me as the Pokemon Professor. This is a pokemon. Some people keep pokemon as companions, while others train them for battles. Now first off, are you a boy, or a gir-*shot*

Ahem, anyway, it's nice to see a newbie come into the games, especially an older newbie. As far as getting all the pokemon from the old games in Platinum... You can get a LOT of them, but not ALL of them. However, that's what wifi is for. Also, before you go to the internet, look around in used game shops for the third-gen games (FireRed, LeafGreen, Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald); you can probably get them for $20 in stores, as opposed to possibly more online.

You won't be getting the starters you knew and loved before, and there are a lot more legends in the world of pokemon than there were when you were a teenager, but if you get into it, then you'll have a lot of fun with it. Enjoy; maybe we'll battle each other someday. ^_^

hi, so wellcome to the Serebii forums ^^.

Platinum doesn't contains every pokemon from the 1st generation, but they are accessable trought the 3rd generation games Fire red and Leaf green (remakes of the first generation ), and migrating them to platinum, thanks to the Pal Park, but you can only migrate 6 pokemon per pack, every day.

if u need any other help, feel free to pm me, or ask around the forums

Ahaha, I must admit, my "omg pornbot must delete" sensors went off when I saw the title of this thread.

Anyways, I moved it to Newbie Lounge where it's more appropriate.

I didnt say i never liked pokemon, the games just seemed clones of the earlier versions with added, pixels "pokemon" but now i can see the true potential for the game so now im interested. the thing is i wanna catch them all lol, by trading or whatever. hence the question about if it would be worth buying the earlier versions since im buying platinum, to migrate them over to the latest. thanks for the help?

No problem! Oh, and if you do plan on getting the third-gen games, make sure you have a DS or DS Lite, not a DSi. You'll need the GBA port to transfer any pokemon you get in the third-gen games into the fourth-gen ones.

no, the 3rd gen games dont have wifi capabilities.
But, like i said before, you can transfer pokemon from the 3rd gen games to the 4th gen games, via Pal Park (only unlockable after you completed the Shinoh dex, but dont worry, you only have to have seen every pokemon avaible in-game (excluding: Darkrai,Shaymin and Arceus), so all you have to do if battle every trainer in-game)

Welcome to SPPf Dross! Its always nice to see somebod who's been playing the games since the first generation. I've even taken up playing those games again, since that's the generation I started with.

If you've any questions regarding how the forums work, or you'd just like to talk, I'm for the most part open to anything.

I mean posting multiple different messages in a row, like you have many times in this thread. You can't post more than once in a row. If an accidental one goes through, that's okay (but please delete it if you catch it so it's not such an eyesore), but you are not allowed to post a new message right after your old one. Please stop so I don't have to punish you for doing it.
