Debut Appearance: "Get the Show on the Road"

Professor Birch is a Pokemon professor who resides in Littleroot Town in Hoenn. Featuring an active personality, Birch is very approachable and is friends with Professor Oak. Birch does much of his research in the fields, and this sometimes can lead him into dangerous situations. Birch gives May her starter Pokemon - Torchic.

Nothing too special, although I like the way the Poochyena chased him around back in the first Hoenn ep.

Birch is also the only other professor to show up at Ash's house in Pallet Town. After Hoenn ended, he brought Max over to Pallet.

Neither Elm nor Rowan ever appeared at Ash's house.

He was outdoorsy.

I liked that he actually went out and studied the Pokemon in their natural environment.

Professor Birch was really cool. I liked how he appeared during Ash, May, Max and Brock's Hoenn travels. He was a nice addition to the anime. Maybe he can appear in the future as well!

All I got to say is... well its an ask really, but why are all the prof. named after trees and wood and stuff?

It's just a trend. Nothing more.

I just realized why Birch wears shorts, because Hoenn is generally warm as opposed to Sinnoh where Rowan wears a coat on top of his vest.

Birch was amazing, better than Oak and Rowan. he was involved, running, doing many things like a child. for me, he is the best professor.

yeah ash kid is right. He's the best proffessor because he actually had energy to go out. the other ones are just sending you to do THEIR dream.

He STILL sends you out to do his work for him :/

He's really not so different from the other professors.

Well he is younger, I'm not saying smarter, but definitely my favorite professor.

Although you are right, there are not many other differences.

Birch certainly seems like the best professor. Smart, confident, approachable, friendly. He has a lot of qualitites that the other professors lack. Like how Elm seems to lack confidence and how Rowan doesn't seem very approachable when you first meet him. He's also younger than Oak, so he'll be able to relate to the young trainers he gives Pokemon to better than Oak or Roawn would.

Well Rowan and Elm have an huge knowledge on pokemon, Birch concentrates more on searches in the nature, they are different. Elm is young as well but Birch just love to be in the nature more than him.
