Hello everyone I just wanted to introduce myself and possibly get some tips for playing the Pokemon game for DS. I am not technically a noob when it comes to Pokemon in general but the last time I ever played or had anything to do with the series was in the very beginning. Yes back when Charizard was a 50 dollar card and when Pokemon Red and Blue was all the rage on GB. So it has been quite a while and I was wondering how to go about playing the Platinum game for DS. I noticed that it is night time in my game right off the bat and I can now catch male and female pokemon! LOL where do I start...how many pokemon are in this version of the game...lol so many questions but they allude me at the moment. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks...

I welcome to the forums & i hope you have a great time here.
As for tips on playing the pokemon games on DS, i would suggest that you check the main site. It has ton's of info regarding things you would want to know about the games of any generation.
If you are playing 'Diamond' or 'Pearl' Version check,
For 'Platinum' check,
And if you are playing 'Heart Gold' or 'Soul Silver' check,

For info's about what moves a pokemon learns or where you can find them you can check,

Hi and welcome to Serebii. As of now they are 493 pokemon in all (Wow!) a handful of them are only available during events though just like Mew though you can nab a nifty Manaphy on one of the pokemon Ranger games.

General gameplay is mostly the same you know catch as many pokemon as you can battle in gyms stop bad guys (They not Team Rocket this time) but they are also pokemon contests now where you can enter a pokemon and well show them off but make sure you feed them poffin first to make them look more er cute smart cool beutiful let's see what else?...

Ahhh yes Pokemon now have special abilities. Pikachu for example has has the Static ability which has a chance of paralyzing a pokemon who make contact with it when attacking. (Like if they use something like Tackle or Quick Attack) There are also EVs now but that's too complicated for me to explain. So yeah pokemon has changed abit. If you have anymore questions just let me know by PM or visitor message. Again welcome to Serebii.

Edit: Beaten lol.
