View Full Version : Rival's party

What are your thoughts on the team that the rival possesses? He has Mewtwo, Lugia, and Ho-oh. He doesn't use his in game team, and he has those three legendaries instead.
Does it represent something? Like you have to battle your rival while he uses the three most powerful pokemon (at that time)? He had no relation to them at all outside stadium 2.

Well it's understandable that he wouldn't use his in-game team, seeing as it's different per starter you choose. Not to mention, the VS. Rival (both R1 and R2) is supposed to serve as a "final boss" after you've completed the gym tower and stadium (BOTH TIMES, sooo amazingly tedious)
So it's no wonder he doesn't use his in-game team, because, quite frankly, his in-game team is a pushover. That'd be the lamest final boss ever. The way the set it up with mewtwo, lugia, and ho-oh proves to be extremely challenging and satisfying when you can FINALLY defeat him in (in R2 especially!)
So yeah, they just use your rival's face, but it has no correlation to his character in the G/S/C games.

Yep, Silver isn't that good of a trainer anyway compared to the other rivals. Also, if you check the winning trainer list at Pokémon Gyms, Silver isn't on it. (Green even became a leader) On Stadium the rival trainer does represent Silver, but so does Cal represent Gold. So the Stadium 2 rival is in fact not Silver. Besides, winning trainers do not hack.

I definately agree about Silver's team in GSC.
And have you seen Silver's sprite? And they say Chuck of Cianwood is getting flabby.
I swear, he wanted to be the greatest trainer, and didn't even challenge the gyms.
Or train his pokemon well.
Or train good pokemon.
That lazy fattie.
