And Poison/Psychic for a Britney Spears legendary pokémon. THE HORROR

A side evolution for Gochimiru is such an odd way to go for the line, but I think it can really bring out the best in it.

I can see a split Gochi happening since it happened to Kirlia. and both are pure psychic types.

I think they missed some very good type combinations in this Gen. There were some pretty good ones, like Fire/Bug, Eletric/Bug, Ghost/Fire, Ghost/Ground, Ghost/Water, Ground/Dark, Dark/Fighting,... But did we really need any more Normal/Flying or Water/Ground? There were so many pokés which could have been great. Imagine a Ghost/Rock or Ghost/Steel Desukan, Grass or Ice or Fighting/Dragon Kurimugan, Flying/fighting Wargle, a Poison or Ghost/Rankurusu, etc...

Onondo's art is awesome.

Daikenki and Emboar are sort of odd, but Jaroda looks awesome.

And she's not a Pokemon, but Kamitsure = Hawtness :3

I think that the only Pokemon's artwork that I find to be cool would have to be Onondo's and then maybe Kokoromori's since it really captures it's goofy grin. The other's artwork looks too much like the Black and White ingame sprites so the artwork really doesn't matter in their case since it still makes them look odd at first glance.

Hey posted about it in one of the threads. He might post it on the site later on when he's not so busy?

Anyway, I was looking at Otamaru's new Ken Sugimori artwork, and it still looks like it's saying, "love me, please?". It looks kind of sad in a way, but also just kind of hilarious. I'm just rolling around laughing at that face. Poor Otamaru, couldn't they have given it a different face? Same goes for it's evolved form.

Haha, Bert and Ernie. I never noticed that, but I have to say, I dislike those two Fighting-type Pokemon with a passion. Nageki and Dageki are just your typical Fighting-type Pokemon with no creative design put in place, other than the karate robes I suppose. They just don't look appealing. Sure, they're good for some quick experience, but that's all I see them as; training fodder. I know, I have issues with Isshu :s

Dark/psychic type would be pretty awesome.

I am such a fan of this idea. To me, Gochiruzeru looks remind me of Jynx: a Pokemon that is designed to be exclusively female. Gochimiru looks as if it could be a (feminine) ambiguously gendered Pokemon. (And the head pieces look like they just fall off and get placed underneath like legos when it evolves.) I am not holding my breath, but I would like to see a male side evolution that is Dark/Psychic. I think that would be awesome.

I literally just like the fact that one is blue. Other than that...I'm not much of a fan of these two. If they were Rock/Fighting, then I think I would appreciate their designs.

With any luck, the Dream World should be up and running sometime before the end of the day.

You think that little ol' Yuniran is creepy? Why? It's as harmless as can be from the look of it. It's just a cell suspended in ooze; that's not so creepy. It's yellow horn-like accessory was a surprise but that's not something that makes me think bad of Yuniran. If anything is creepy, it's Gochimu and her little outfit that make her look like a Smoochum reject :3

I'm really loving all the new arts..especially for Jaroda, Emboar, Daikenki, and the fossils !! Only 66 more (I'm pretty sure) to go other than Kerudio, Meloetta, and Genosect (because they are event Pokemon so their arts won't be officially revealed until way after the games come out in the U.S.). We probably won't see any more official arts until the official game guide comes out next month (unless for some reason someone leaks them sooner).

Ok well I might as well comment on all of the other Pokemon who received some Ken Sugimori artwork in this issue of Coro Coro. Just remember, I don't know all the names so I'm going by memory haha. Enbuoo (Pokabu's final form) looks decent. It's artwork isn't all that different from it's B/W sprite, but it's also not too bad. Hahakomori's smile is the creepiest thing ever! I never noticed that in it's ingame sprite! I just noticed though, that it's name even refers to the smile, "Hahakomori". Anyway, Dotekkotsu looks bland, like it's missing something in it's artwork. Wonder why. I think that's all I really noticed so far.

Rakurai

Janobii looks a lot nicer overall in its art, but Jaroda's eyes are kind of creepy looking compared to the sprite.

Not trying to be nitpicky or anything, but "haha" means mother in Japanese, and is a reference to the motherly behavior the Pokemon is said to exhibit towards others in its dex entries.

Commenting on art is the new "in" thing don'cha'know~

Daienki:
Really helped me appreciate it more. I like how Mijumaru has become this confident strong Pokemon. I love that look of determination. I like that the "flippers" are actually claws. I'm very interested to see him in the anime or 3d games

Jaroda:
Good as always. I never noticed just how the "collar" worked, it's like old skin being shed. Very interesting touch. Odd decision to not coil him up like the pre-release art or sprite, no?

Emboar:
Hm...I think I would like it better if the smile was slightly smaller, but I like being able to see its face now. I still prefer its sprite, I think.

Gantle:
I think that's what its called...pretty neat. Not too different from its sprite

Yanakki:
Fantastic as always. I think I prefer the spirte's dark color scheme, but the art still gets the concept across greatly.

Boakki:
Hrm...I think the head should be a tad less elongated. Other then that, I think I'm warming up to him. I wish his belly wasn't as large, either.

Hiyakki:
Way better. There's just something about the art that isn't as off putting as its sprite.

Kokoromori:
alksjbdpaousdapgsdubapious absolutely perfect. Better then the already great sprite. So much personality! I love that the nose is the size it is, it's even more of a heart, too. The big dopey grin. I can't wait for it to be plush'd~~~~~

Dokkora:
Now that I can actually make out its facial expression properly, it's grown on me a lot.
Dotekkosu:
I like this pose a lot better then the one in-game. Makes him seem more powerful, and shows off more of his design. I never noticed his hair style before. Very interesting.

Otamaru:
It's nice to see him all sugi'd but he still kind of weirds me out. Not a bad idea but that face...I wonder why they went that route with him? It's very weird, being all flat and with that expression. It gives me uncanny valley vibes. Also: does he resemble Susumo from Mr. Driller or is it just me.

Kurumayu:
...I don't know. It's not bad, but I wish the leaf coat was less a coat and more a covering. I dislike how you can see the majority of the body underneat and wish it had more qualities of Hahakomori. Oh well, it's just a middle stager.
Hahakomori:
Much better. Knowing its face helps me picture it way better, and better appreciate its design overall. I also like the more "actiony" pose. The face is interesting, I wouldn't have expected that smile, but it works well on it

Red dude & Blue dude:
Interesting, the black "eyebrows" are more like face guards. It works well on them. I'm surprised how smooth they are, the crisscross lines work well on them and seem less like they're part rock. I like that you can see more of their bodies overall, rather then mostly the gi. If that made sense...

Zubraikia:
Hm...something about the art rubs me the wrong way, but it's not bad. I think I need to see it without the text and stuff. I hope the official site actually updates with everyone this time rather then just three of them like last time. That was such a low blow.

Oh gosh there's so many of these...I'll just finish up saying how sorry I feel for Kurimugan. Unlike the rest of the black bar Pokemon, he wasn't featured in CoroCoro special (Hatoopoo, Chillachirno, Haderia, Leperadasu, the lizard, Kumashun), related to a Pokemon featured earlier in the issue (Kurumayu, Dakkora), shown within the issue itself (the starter evos) or to a pokemon featured in earlier issues (Zebraikia, Gantle, the pigeons) he's an all new, unrelated Pokemon and is shoved in a corner with everyone else. This was his big chance to be noticed and he got screwed out of it.

I just feel so bad for him because of the new Pokemon he's probably the most overall forgotten. He's only found in, what, Victory Road, Onoonokusu has more popularity thanks to the Kibago relation, his power, and Oha Suta, and Sazandora is kind of the new pseudo-legend, has a unique typing and has the late evolution everyone talks about. He's just kind of...there.

I was joking about that. I figured that the "Haha" in the name could go along with it's happy face, though of course I wasn't being serious about it and only added it since it seemed a bit ironic at the time. I don't know much about Hahakomori to be honest since I have yet to capture one, but it seemed funny at the time to tie that in :<

Hmm... I think I understand the reason why Jaroda's eyes look so different on its sprite compared to the official artwork, and that's simply pixel limitations.

Its pupils are so narrow in the official artwork, that I don't think that they could've translated that properly into sprite form, so they made them wider for the sake of actually being visible on the sprite. It makes its eyes look really normal, compared to the extremely serpentine appearance (Appropriate, and quite intimidating, like a real snake) they have in the official art. I found the difference pretty alarming when I first saw it.

Wonder if any other Pokemon have any noticeable differences in their sprite versus official art for a similar reason.

Good to see more detailed versions of the new Pokemon.

Daikenki looks better in that fierce pose and the relation to Futachimaru is more obvious when they are next to each other. Seems like Daikenki has a small beard too.
Kokoromori's tail makes more sense, though the ears seem odd.
Dotekkotsu doesn't look as ridiculous as in sprite form.
Otamaru actually looks less weird with the darker colored face.
Zebraika's legs look too short, but that's probably because of the picture size.
I thought Gochimu's sprite had stockings and a short dress, but the actual design seems to fit better.
Desumasu, Crimgan, Yanakkie, and Hiyakkie look a lot better.

It appears I was in a waiting line, am I right?Sorta.

I was also having the same issue. This is what the message seems to say.

In order to enjoy the Dream World, a Pokemon from Black or White BLAH. I can't read that much Japanese.

So after I realized this was what it said, I focused on getting a Pokemon to sleep. First, the Game Sync feature might not put a Pokemon to sleep because the servers are packed. But when I finally did, after trying for like half an hour... nothing.

THEN I noticed that the Pokemon goes to sleep immediately, but doesn't DREAM immediately. When you put the Pokemon to sleep, there's a message in the bottom screen. Once that message disappears and you see big white Z's, he's dreaming. You can even quit or turn off the DS.

Now go to your profile after a couple of minutes. Your DS game info should be there, displaying your game color, time spent and badges obtained. From there, it's only a matter of reloading the page and waiting a few minutes (I reloaded the page and was able to get in).

You'll know you're in because the scientist girl (not the doctor) is giving you a small tutorial.

I made the huge mistake of waking Emonga up, thinking that by sending a different Pokemon in I might find Pokemon in there. But no, I never got another Pokemon back in. Grr...

In short, the hard part is Game Syncing and actually being able to put a Pokemon to sleep.

Look at those lame designs. Nobody who is sane enough can do that.
And those horribleful starters evos! Tsu3 looks like a grass Milotic, Poka2 a Lickilicky in spandex, Poka3 an awful Rhyperior and Miju3 looks like a Dialga turn-over.
And plus the drawing quality is so bad, it looks so amateur, what's the problem with Tsu3 collar ? Why is there a part longer than the other ? The same with Miju3 mustache! And I can say these scans are 100% fake because Poka2 shades are not at the right place.

Silly people, everyone knows you use /sarcasm tags, RIGHT? Sabonea Masukippa is clearly convinced they are fake, and seeing as how he is the Japanesey translator person we should all totally do stuff like this (http://www.serebiiforums.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2390&d=1283838030) and then uppercut everybody who disagrees in the nose.

Art looks cool. I adore Kokoromori even more now. I never realized that was a horn on Yuniran. It looked more like a bell. From my perspective at least. I want it now. Kudari and the other dude look kind of creepy cyborg style, but maybe that's the point. TRAINS ARE EVIL. True story.

Also apparently the little tadpole's "eyebrows" are just markings? His face looks a lot less awkward knowing that.

For some odd reason, it's Daikenki's mustache and goatee that made the Pokemon appealing to me in the first place. I saw how it made Daikenki look older and the first thing that went through my head was "tough" and "experienced". I guess the thought stems from the fact that GF gave Mijumaru's line a samurai-esque design. Mijumaru is the cute samurai-in-training, Futachimaru is a bit more experienced, and Daikenki is supposed to be the stronger samurai. Am I weird?

Mijumaru is the cute samurai-in-training, Futachimaru is a bit more experienced, and Daikenki is supposed to be the stronger samurai. Am I weird?

No, that makes sense.

Also, I need an opinion on this. I can't tell.

I asked that same question earlier, and the only opinion I got was that they were its arms (Supported by the fact that it can hold musical accessories still, but not supported by it being unable to learn Fling).

I've also seen a number of fanarts depicting those leaves as such, so I guess it might be the general consensus that those are indeed its arms.

I think we might have to wait until it shows up in the anime to get a definitive answer to that, though.

I have no idea about those green-things on Jaroda. I've been scratching my head about that for a while now. I guess they could be either; leaves or arms. I personally think they're arms, and that it's being arrogant as usual by having them behind it's back because it doesn't wish to waste time dealing with the peasants :)

Fake or not, Daikenki sucks ~__~

THEN I noticed that the Pokemon goes to sleep immediately, but doesn't DREAM immediately. When you put the Pokemon to sleep, there's a message in the bottom screen. Once that message disappears and you see big white Z's, he's dreaming. You can even quit or turn off the DS.

...Oh Game Freak, you so trollish.

You'll know you're in because the scientist girl (not the doctor) is giving you a small tutorial.

I got a Game Sync tutorial with Makomo, that long-haired scientist, yesterday. My pokémon wasn't Z'ing, though, so just to be sure, if I do everything right, will I have another tutorial with Makomo, or will it be another girl?

In short, the hard part is Game Syncing and actually being able to put a Pokemon to sleep.

Thanks man, I'll try it again soon. I really had no idea about the Z'ing part. Also, do you know how to get that Eeveelution from the event last month?

Well I thought I'd bring this up since I saw some people were interested in Generation 5's event Pokemon line-up in some of the threads. Kumasyun/Kumashun, or however you want to spell it, will be distributed via Wi-Fi sometime after the Liberty Ticket event ends. It was announced on some new Japanese TV show called "Pokemon Smash!" recently. The exact date of it's distribution is unknown, but I thought it was interesting. I mean, why this Pokemon of all things? It's not very special, appearance-wise. It's so normal looking. Cute, but not much else. You'd think it was Generation 5's Pikachu by the way they're trying to promote it. Here's (http://www.filb.de/1414) the link to the site I got the information from.

They never annunced it would be a Wi-fi event, they just announced that they were giving a present and showed a preview of Masuda showing a board with this guy on it. Since it's so rare, especially in summer, it may just be how/where to find it or maybe they are giving it away, but we won't know until sunday because Pokemon Smash (formerly Pokemon Sunday) said nothing very specific at all and certainly nothing about wi-fi. There's also the possibility that Masuda is coming on to show off all/some of the Pokemon from Corocoro which is out tomorrow.

Oh. Well the site I got the information from said it would be distributed via Wi-Fi, so that's what I put down. I don't know if filb is all that reliable, but they do get a lot of information posted on their site, right after an official announcement. Anyway, I didn't know that Kumashun was rare in the summer. It seems like most people have one already though, since I found tons in the spring myself and most people probably bought the games last month when it was still spring. Ah whatever, I rather it be an event eitherway, just to give me something to look forward to. It's no Meloetta, but it will do.

But seriously Maggyo has fairly balanced weaknesses/resistances, good type coverage with its stronger stat and pretty decent-good abilities. Only thing is its speed, which, like much of Isshu, is slow as sin.

This makes it the 3rd fastest Pokemon after Deoxys (S is the fastest, A & N are slightly slower then Ninjask) and Ninjask.
And it gets Me First?! Oh my god.

100 special attack is nothing to scoff at, either, and it has quite the special move pool to back it up.

Yeah, they are only romanisations, not English names.

But chances are they'd be at least similar to the English names. Very few legendaries have their English names deviate much from the Japanese ones. And Torneros/Voltros/Landros sound fine to me.

But didn't Torneros, Voltros, and Landros get their romanized names spelled differently? The main site and several other sites have their names spelled as Tornelos, Voltolos, and Landlos, respectively. I don't know if they'll keep these names in the English games though. With Legendary names? Yes, they are. Just about the biggest change we've had to a Legendary name in the last ten years was Sheimi to Shaymin. A divide like Tornelos/Torneros is just two sides of the same transliteration, in no small part because the RA/RE/RI/RO/RU characters can translate to so many different sounds; neither one is strictly wrong, technically speaking, it's simply that one is the official intent. It's like Diaruga/Dialga, really; Diaruga is the transliteration, but Dialga was clearly the official intent.

Jaroda is pretty fast as well, clocking in at 113, Pendoraa at 112, Archeos (Aakeosu) at 110 (same typing as Aerodactyl, faster than it, and it has just slightly less Attack. Ouch), Aianto at 109, Lepardes (oh whatever his romanization is) at 106... there's still a bunch of fast pokes... it's just that about half of them aren't obtainable till later in game.

Tell me about it. We have Nattorei with it's base 20 Speed stat and doubtless you've seen Gigaiath, with a base Speed stat of 25. 25. Yikes.

On the upside, those guys have enough Defense/Sp. Def to last so that they'll still be around even if you try and KO any of them. Gigaiath for instance... 135 Attack/ 130 Def. Or, Shubarugo (20 Speed) at 135 Attack/ 105 Def. Some of them may lack, but they more than make up for it elsewhere.

Hahaha! That was super cute. Now I wish they had an attack that was exclusive to the line that was called Cold Sneeze or something like that. An attack that hurts the opponent, could confuse or paralyze the opponent, and would have to do a little bit of recoil.

Because of Kumasyun's nasal drip, Psyduck now has a friend to visit the Pokecenter nurses with when it has a migraine. ;)

It seems like Game Freak's concept and design staff tried too hard to make it cute. I personally think it would look much cuter without the whole runny nose theme, but that's just me. Why do people say that all the freaking time?
Same animal =/= replacement.
Stop saying they are the "new X", because they're all original Pokemon. Some fill the same roles, but they aren't there to "replace" the originals, because, in case you hadn't noticed, the originals are STILL THERE.

First of all, I was merely pointing out that Kamushun looks like Teddiursa and that Tsunbear looks like Ursaring. They do seem alike, at least to me. All four are based on a type of bear. Pretty common observation. Maybe "replacement" wasn't the right word, but it fit at the time. However, on the subject of "replacement" Pokemon; it's obvious that many were created for that purpose. The Koromori line and the Dangoro line were created to be the substitutes of the Zubat line and the Geodude line, respectively, since Isshu lacks those Pokemon until the main storyline is finished. You seem to think that "replacement" is a bad word. I never meant that the older Pokemon would simply disappear into thin air. I only meant that many had no role in Black and White, so we needed similar Pokemon to fill those roles. That's all, no harm intended.

It's like they are the design theme equivalent. They aren't the replacement or the new improved version, instead they are the new region's equivalent.

But I think there are a lot of people who dig Kumashun. Personally, I think its head cold makes it even cuter. It wants affection. I don't care if it's a counterpart to Teddiursa. Teddiursa has its charm; Kumashun has its own too. They can coexist.

Well the old Speculation thread was understandably closed. But this also means I can no longer update my English name list. So I've decided to post a new one here (since we have no 5th Gen English name thread) while simultaneously giving it a long overdue update with the Pokemon revealed post-release.

Ok, so here's my predictions for English names:

Mamepato: "Fledgeon"
This one I really do believe will be the name. Giving it the "pidge" prefix would sound too similar to the Pidgey line. Fledgling and Pigeon make sence since it is a "baby pidgeon." Plus both words have the "idgn" sound.

Kuitaran: "Pyrosa"
This one I love; I really hope it's the name. It comes from the latin word "Pilosa" meaning anteater. Pyro (meaning fire) and Pilosa fit together so nicely and fit perfectly for this Pokemon. I originally thought of Pilosinge, but that sounds too similar to Piloswine and besides, Pyrosa sounds much better.

Moguryu: "Talpidig"
I used "Talpidae" the scientific name for the mole's family, plus dig.

Doryuzu: "Talpidrill"
Same as above, but with "drill" instead of dig. (PS: I really do like these two mole names, and I really do bet they will turn out to be this.)

Meguroko: "Crocular"
This is another I think is correct. Meguroko's japanese name derives from Me, which means eye. So it's apparant this Pokemon is somehow related to eyes or eyesight. So I took the root word "ocular" which means eye, which just happens to fit nicely with the prefix "croc"

Kibago: "Tuskid"
Tusk and Kid, since it's the lowest stage in it's evolutionary line.

Buffalon: "Buffro" or "Buffafro"
Pretty simple; buffalo plus afro. I could see this being the name.

Vulchai: "Vulchick"
Vulture plus chick, since its baby bird. It's perfect.

Gamagaru or Gamageorge: "Wartoad"
Well they're frogs covered in warts. So I figured this was likely. Besides, I like Gamagaru. :p

Shibibiiru or Shibirudon: "Lamprai" or "Eelectric"
This line is based on the Lamprey, and that works well with "Rai" which is Japanese for thunder. Eelectric I don't like as much, but I had to consider it a possibility. For one, it's sounds too much like electric (the same reason I dislike the name Wotter) and besides Lamprey are similar to eels, but aren't really eels.

Kumashun: "Frosteddy"
Simply frost and teddy. Not one of my more creative ones, but meh.

Pendora: "Centipoyz", "Centipoyzn" or some spelling similar to that.
Pokemon names sometimes mispell words on purpose, hence Poison into Poyzn. Combine that with Centipede, and there you go.

Meraruba: "Larvalcano" or "Lavalarva"
Since it's a baby bug, I used larva, with sounds like lava, and fits decently with volcano.

Urgamoth: "Magmoth"
All I could think of; this may not be it. Just Magma and moth combined.

Kurumiru: "Squirmunch"
Squirm because, well, it's a caterpiller. (Rhyming with Worm helps too) and Munch, because it reminds me of caterpillers munching on leaves.

Jihead: "Bydra"
"Bi" means two, and I combined this with Hydra.

Sazando: "Trydra" or "Flydra"
Same as above, "tri" (meaning three) and Hydra. Or possibly fly + hydra, seeing as it's a flying hydra.

Shimama: "Arbezap" (ar-beh-zap)
I doubt this will really be the name, but it's just something I thought up. It's zebra backwards plus zap.

Miruhoggu: "Glowpher" or "Glopher"
I know it's probably based on a meerkat, but I can see similarities to a gopher too. And it lights up the pattern on its body, so... Glow and Gopher. Meh, but this probably won't be it

Shikijika: "Seasfawn"?
I was thinking it's gotta have season in it, and fawn made sense in there with the word "season". But I'm not so sure... Seasfawn sounds like Sea Fawn... like a Water-type or something. so probably not.

Gochiruzeru: "Gothiselle"
It's a romanization of its Japanese name (since it comes from Gothic and madamoiselle IIRC, zeru is probably selle or sel. "iru" I'm not sure about.

Rankurusu: "Ranculus"
Rankurusu derives from homunculus, so it's romanization is probably Ranculus.

Gigaiasu: "Gigaiath"
Like others, I think Gigaiasu is meant to be Gigaiath. If you're familiar with the Metroid series, you may know that originally Planet Zebes was translated as Planet Zebeth. This is because "su" and "th" are similar in Japanese.
I really, really, like the name Gigaiath. It's genius on Game Freak's part: Giga + Gaia + Goliath. All three words that make sense for this Pokemon, and they fit perfectly phonetically. Hell, you could even combine just Giga and Goliath and Gaia would just fall in coincidentally. Brilliant.

These I think will remain the same in English:
Chillarmy
Wargle
Crimgon

And Legendaries usually keep their romanized names:
Victini
Kyurem
Keldeo
Meloetta
Genesect

And that's it for now.

Oh...he looks so sad...

Pururiru has always looked a bit sad to me, but it's still interesting to see it's Dream World artwork. I wish we had all of the artwork from the Dream World since it appears easier to get than the Ken Sugimori artwork :x

Anyway, Looks like I was correct about Kumashun being distributed via Nintendo Wi-Fi after the Liberty Ticket event. It's not particularly powerful nor is it too rare, but I believe someone said they don't appear all that often during summer, which should be the current season in Pokemon Black and White. Anyone else getting this Kumashun? I think I might, but I'm undecided.

Or, in the case of Agirudaa, not obtainable at all for those who can't trade due to circumstances like not having two DSs, no friends who play Pokemon, etc. And Agirudaa is the fastest Pokemon in the game. So, yes, most of the Isshu pokes are pathetically slow, especially early on.

Oh...he looks so sad...
I think he looks more confused/lost.
Regardless, I really like his Dream World look.
Just like in the case of Shinpora, I think it looks better than the sprite.

But I think there are a lot of people who dig Kumashun. Personally, I think its head cold makes it even cuter. It wants affection. I don't care if it's a counterpart to Teddiursa. Teddiursa has its charm; Kumashun has its own too. They can coexist.
I can't find anything with such a comically oversized yet still rather off-putting snot droplet cute. I mean c'mon--Ew.
If you want adorable, I would direct you to Pokabu and/or Vanipeti.

That image of Dakenki looks great! I still prefer Jaroda, though, even with all the hype, afterall, he's a snake starter. A Snake pokemon which is actually good! Samurais may be cool, water might be one of my favorite types, but a villainous-looking snake beets them all. Emboar... that's just... another fighting fire starter, really? And the design... those golden spirals remind too much of Infernape...

Zuzurkin looks odd in this art, he was growing on me, no longer is. Will every pokémon get a Dream World artwork? It looks a nice different look from Sugimori's.

Actually, right now, judging by general public opinion, most people think:

Daikenki -> Jalorda -> Embuoh

Kind of funny how much the tables turned. I guess most people dislike it for its typing, which is a shame. It's not like people are constantly comparing the plethora of pure Water types, but I guess starters are different in that they get the most exposure and when you have three of the same type in a little row I guess some people would feel like that.

Jalorda suffers from a terrible movepool, as do all Grass types, which is kind of a shame, and even Perversity Jalorda only really has Leaf Storm and Hidden Power for coverage. I prefer physical Jalorda because at least it has options ingame- Coil Around, Leaf Blade, Dragon Tail and Leech Seed or Toxic. Not perfect, but it is certainly going to hit. Jalorda is my personal favourite, despite the movepool. It just seems really expressive and fits with the rest of my plans.

Embuoh is incredibly interesting because it goes more for bulk that its predecessors- and I never saw people comparing Blaziken and Infernape that much despite the fact that the two are largely similar in regards to Speed and offensive stats. Admittedly, a ton of HP doesn't help with sub-par Defenses, but hey. Physical Embuoh sets will be much more common with the likes of Wild Bolt, Hammer Arm, Flare Blitz, Head Smash and Earthquake, but its Special stat isn't too shoddy either. Boiling Water/Flamethrower/Focus Blast/Grass Knot would work.

Daikenki is this gen's middle ground Pokémon, being the middle-difficulty for ingame and having a good solid stat spread. In terms of appearance it also looks pretty unique. Its Sp. Atk is a teensy bit higher, so Surf/Ice Beam/Grass Knot/Hidden Power could make an ingame standard, but it also has Air Slash as an Egg Move. Physical Daiki will be much more popular competitively with only the tiniest difference statwise- Waterfall/Night Slash/Megahorn/Return offers a different but just as viable spread of coverage, and who knows? With Shell Blade's Defense lowering that could find a niche.

Completely different to the initial reaction of:
Tsutarja=Pokabu ->Mijimaru

Where only about a small denomination of people (myself included) liked Mijimaru. Funny how times change. Was it the Fire/Fight that turned people off of Embuoh? Lack of speed? I fully recall how not many people liked Meganium because of little ingame utility for a defensive Grass Pokémon, but Jalorda is doing well. And Daikenki soared as people realized the line's origins.

And noticed that it had a fairly good resemblance to Crimgon. Might Crimgon have been partially based on whatever dinosaur this is, or just a coincidence.

For reference: This was a Jurrasic Park figurine back from before I think even Lost World came out. So some things about Dinosaurs weren't really well-known...like colors. So whatever dino this is, may have been brightly colored for the purpose of selling the figurines. I've a number of them, but the only really outlandish one was an Orthimimus that's blue and green striped. The others are darker, earthy colors; more natural.

Regardless, quite the coincidence huh?

After remembering it appeared in Jurassic Park 3, it appears to be a "Ceratosaurus"

It lost the blue body for a more brown body, but kept the blazing red head:
http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20091224205346/jurassicpark/images/thumb/8/89/Ceratosaurus1.jpg/350px-Ceratosaurus1.jpg

And checking google image search, there's a number of different color interpretations, though the toy is the only one with a blue body. Lots of brownish colors, some with and without the red head, some with weird stripes and so on.

So it's just a coincedence after all. Oh well.

No doubt. Nothing based off New York is complete without a representation of gangsters, and Zuruggu and Zuruzukin fulfill that role. But based on Zuruggu's animated sprite, he's too busy pulling up his "pants" to be robbing banks, which really endears himself to me.

I really like the way Dream World art is drawn. The Pokemon look so cartoon-y.
These are pretty good, except for Zuruzukin and Tabunne. Zuruzukin looks like he's half asleep (although I guess that's appropriate for the Dream World). And nothing, just nothing, will make me like Tabunne. Ever.

I agree! I don't know why, but I think it looks like it is trying too hard to be cute. The dream world art makes it look super creepy and almost like it is some "Pokemon of the Corn".

Doryuzu is better because he is ground/steel and Gigaiath is rock. So, Doryuzu is better type wise.Resistance wise, Doryuzu is better again, with two 0 damage resistance.Move wise, Doryuzu can learn alot of ground moves and a 1 hit ko.Gigaith can learn some quite good rock moves. So, overall I'd use Doryuzu.

Don't get me wrong, I hate Marakacchi. But James needs a Grass-type, and I may come to like Marakacchi more with official Sugimori art.

The more I watch WiFi battles on YouTube containing Zoroark, the more I want to use it. I'm really liking it's ability. It's alot more than just fooling your opponent that you're another Pokemon; it has some sort other part of the ability that does something extra... the guy mentioning it was kind of vague about it.

I'm slowly beginning to prefer Zoroark over Lucario, but I still prefer Lucario for having an awesome colour scheme.

I've liked Zoroark since it first appeared, but was disappointed when I found out that the Zoroark in the 13th movie was female. I also believe that the one from the Shiny Beast event is set to female which is kind of a bummer but at least the Hiun City Zorua seems to have any gender. I don't like Lucario much so I don't often compare it to Zoroark, but they are sort of similar, though Zoroark's line is harder to obtain.

I don't understand why you don't like it being a female, but at least it means people can breed them and share them all around wi-fi. I did think the Zorua was a boy, but I could be wrong, of course.

More or less because Lucario has better access to Fighting type moves and more special attack moves than Zoroark. However, Zoroark is both faster and has slightly higher special than Lucario... except Lucario has higher defenses (ironic, because Lucario can barely take any hits).

I think it's sort of a good thing, mainly because you can breed it for Zoruas and since Zorua evolves normally, it makes it that much easier to manage. I'd imagine people are going to be breeding the heck out of Zoroark/Zorua to get all sorts of things from the GTS due to it's rarity.

I've already gotten a Zorua "pre-ordered" from a member on these very forums.

I'm a sexist pig.

I honestly just like having certain Pokemon be male or female on my team. Zoroark always looked more male-looking than female-looking, so I was disappointed that the movie and event Zoroark were female. Some Pokemon just fit in with one category and others fit in with the opposite category for me. You'd never see me with a female Machamp since the Pokemon doesn't look all that feminine. Same with Zoroark basically; it doesn't look all that feminine to me, despite those kitsune things usually taking the form of women :x

That's fair enough. Of course, if you're just getting one of the GTS or something getting a male one shouldn't be too hard and you could always breed for a male Zorua if you got the event one, I suppose.

On another note, I worked out the average evolution level for each of the five gens (yep, I got assignments due :P) I didn't include cross gens that evolve by level (like Magby) just coz they complicate things, but apart from that:

Gen 1: 26.2
Gen 2: 27.5
Gen 3: 29.2
Gen 4: 27.3
Gen 5: 32.5

Also, I am likely to have made some mathematical mistakes (addition is hard :P) so this is really just meant to be a guide. Anyway, ths basically reaffirms what everyone knew: Isshu Pokemon evolve at a much higher level on average.

Free Fall is easily among the most limited TMs as far as how many different Pokemon can learn it (Only 16).

I love Lucario. I love Zorua. But I nearly hate Zoroark. Maybe it's his hair, maybe it's his colour, maybe it's his face, maybe it's because it's a Lucario expy. I love Lucario, it's one my favourites from my team in Diamond and Super Smash Bros. Brawl, I really like his colours and moves. Zorua is nice, a lil trickster dark fox. Zoroark just... when I first saw it I thought "Gen V is going to suck." (gladly I was wrong. Very wrong, cause Gen V is an awsome generation). And the fact that he's an event pokemon just make me dislike him even more. And his hair, his hair is just...

Also, Lucario is such an annoying character in Brawl (although half of my negative feelings toward him are spite for being there instead of Blaziken [just think about it, if he didn't exist, Blaziken probably would've been playable!]).

Damn, when they said they were making 5th gen tougher, I had no clue they also meant cranking up the evolution levels for Pokes in general.

Kind of amusing how Gen I has the lowest, while gen III has the second highest. Gen II and Gen IV practically tie, but since they were sort of the "sequel" of sorts for their preceding generation (don't go deep into discussion with this, just run with it for a moment), it kind of makes sense.

Also, I am likely to have made some mathematical mistakes (addition is hard :P) so this is really just meant to be a guide. Anyway, ths basically reaffirms what everyone knew: Isshu Pokemon evolve at a much higher level on average.
I also think that, considering just how quickly the levels increase as you go from place to place; and with the way exp works now, it's not so much a drag to level up your pokes, so they increased the levels to make up for that.

Personally, I would have been happy with either, but we got Lucario. It would have been cool to have swapped Pokemon Trainer with Blaziken though.. just some wishful thinking I guess.

Although I am in agreement about disliking Zoroark for being an event exclusive Pokemon, although I really don't like the concept of event exclusive Pokemon in general.
On the plus side, GameFreak at least made Zoroark breedable, so those who are in possession of it can breed for Zoruas if they want, to trade to others.

I wouldn't be surprised that once the trading section on these boards is open, there's going to scads of people asking for Zoruas. Just watch.

So, I wouldn't worry too much. It just means we'll have to wait until the English version comes out before we're able to ask for it, that's all.

So...anyone here think that there will be some wi-fi event for Zorua and/or Zoroark when Black and White gets released in the non-Japanese areas?
Hopefully it'll be just some nice and easy wi-fi download you pick up in a mart or find waiting in some area. Cause...as it stands...the requirements are actually rather high. You need a Celebi to get Zorua...which has not been released as far as I can tell. And you need a shiny beast in order to get Zoroark...and the movies really aren't even big enough to even be shown in theaters outside of Japan. AND...the requirements have to be transferred from HG or SS on to B/W.
Granted I don't think they would be a part of my team for more than a couple of battles, they would still be nice to have. Hopefully people are playing nice and trading Zoruas for reasonable pokemon when I get my game.

Maybe I can get one. Because I live in Holland and here we have a Pokémon day in an amusement park every year. The first event was 3 years ago and you could get a special Darkrai because of the latest movie, next year you could get the special Gegigigas(which I didn't get:() and last year...well there was no special event -_-'. But with Black and white out next year and probably also the movie Phantom Champion Zoroark, they probably will give away the Crown beasts and Celebi, well I hope so. However, I hope for the other people there will be a Wi-Fi event.

Celebi & The beasts haven't been released because the Zoroark movie hasn't even been revealed.

Once it, and the Zs, have been "unveiled" they will probably announce who you can get the beasts & Celebi at a later date, before the movie premiers.

They've been very good about doing this. They even gave out Regigigas, Pikachu Colored Pichu, and even star festival Jirachi.

In fact, every major event that Japan has given out since the start of the 4th generation has made it everywhere else. We'll probably even get Goon's Scizor & Ash's Pikachu.

Celebi and the Shiny Beasts will be released as events, without a doubt. The whole "movies aren't big enough to be shown in theaters outside of Japan" thing is irrelevant since almost all of the event Pokemon that make it to the U.S. get distributed at Toys R Us or Gamestop anyway, so we don't need to got to a theater to get them. There's no real need for a U.S. exclusive Zorua or Zoroark event, for that reason. The requirements aren't all that difficult; it's just slightly annoying that you have to link up with another game to transfer the Pokemon over to unlock Zorua and Zoroark. A small annoyance won't kill anyone.

Pokemon that were movie events in Japan have typically been released over WiFi or at Toys R Us/Gamestop around the same time as their movie premiered on Cartoon Network in America, so I'm guessing we'll get Celebi and the shiny beasts when the Zoroark movie comes to Cartoon Network . . . don't worry about it not happening until it actually doesn't happen.

however, if you fought that Chillarmy with your lvl 10 Minezumi and win, your Minezumi gets 2000 EXP points.

The EXP points your Pokémon gets depents on its level.

So the larger the difference in between levels, the more exp. Interesting, does this apply to the exp share? does the holder gain half of what he would get or half of what the pokemon battling would get. Example using pokes from your example:
Lvl. 20 Janovy defeats Lvl. 20 Chillarmy. Lvl. 10 Minezumi is holding an EXP. Share. How much does Minezumi get? I'd assume Janovy gets 500, but would Minezumi get 500 or 1000?

Ophie

Of course, that leaves the question about what other regions do this. In the UK, Woolworth's handled Pokémon distribution, but now that it's gone, I'm not sure which company handles it now.

And then yes, there's GTS. I'd imagine the Pokémon you need to get Zorua and Zoroark will be very easy to obtain, but the idea is that we'll have a limited amount of genuine event-obtained Zoruas and Zoroarks.

EDIT: Regarding EXP Share, the Pokémon's EXP gets scaled accordingly. So with your example, Mnezumi gets more EXP than Janovy, assuming no other EXP multipliers.

If Zorua is breadable, wouldn't it follow that we'll see a plethora of it on the GTS? We wouldn't need to bother using the GTS for the Celebi and shiny beasts, we could just eliminate the middleman (so to speak) and get a Zorua straight from it.
Regardless of whether these Zoruas/Zoroarks were event obtained, there would be a bunch available on the GTS.

Oh Zorua and Zoroark. If worst comes to worst, I'll just breed several Zoroark with Ditto and just hand Zorua eggs out. It won't be the same as an event Zorua, but it's the next big thing. Hopefully, others will help with that so that most people on here can get a Zorua and then just evolve it on their own. I find it funny that Victini is easier to obtain than Zorua and Zoroark. Just goes to show that Legendary Pokemon are easily available these days.

Wallaroo42

The thing about rare breedable pokemon is that they are used as GTS fodder. I personally would just breed spiritomb and feebas then put them up for every pokemon I was missing or too lazy to evolve myself because they would always get traded. The new incentive of getting free items (even a master ball!) after doing a lot of trades (I assume GTS trades are included... correct me if I'm wrong) means there will be even more of these quick-trade pokemon flying around for reasonable offers on the GTS.

Well, should be. I don't have the new games so I suppose it would be hard for me to say.

The event Shiny Beasts aren't like normal HG/SS wild Shiny Beasts though. They have special moves that they don't learn normally, like Raikou with Aura Sphere for example. Also, only the event Shiny Beasts activate the Zoroark event so they're really quite the collector's item on their own. As long as I am able to get one, I'll be happy. I really enjoy to go through the event storylines, but they normally last for...what...a couple of minutes? I'll gladly take a one from a breeder.

The shiny beasts...well while I caught them all, I never really even used the regular ones in Silver or SoulSilver.

I'm surprised that they didn't try and play up SEPichu as having a relation, thinking of it...

Oh, ok. That makes sense and actually sounds really cute. ;)

If the 4th-generation GTS is any indication, the trades are going to be just as unreasonable as ever. People are going to be offering their Yorterries and Minezumis for Zekroms and Milotics, or turning down any trades aside from these.

The guy offering incentives isn't going to make trades more reasonable because these kids don't understand the concept and because some hackers actually provide them with the rare Pokémon they want, thus perpetuating the mindset.

I can confirm the unreasonable trades.

There really are people asking for legendaries in exchange for things like Yorterri and Minezumi. It's best to just not look for trades, and simply offer something that's high in demand like a version exclusive, a starter, or Zoroa.

Is there still that bit where they give you more people who match your search if you've recently accepted a trade?

I wouldn't know personally, as I can count the number of times someone wasn't asking for something completely unreasonable on one hand, and the few times that they did have a semi-reasonable trade, I lacked the Pokemon they desired.

What I really don't get though, is why people ask for Pokemon that are impossible to even obtain legitimately (IE, a level 10 Sazandora). That makes me think they're just trying to show off their Pokemon or something.

Ok yeah. There has to be some event, 'cuz the movies dont go to the theater. it's a cartoon net premier of whatever, and that channel doesnt even show cartoons anymore... back to bw. I think they would give the zoroark event, becasue they have to do the celebi with the giovanni battle sooner or later. so people would get zorua through breeding. Idk. I thought they weren't going to do mew here, so its probably like shinybeasts or celebi will be a gamestop or TRU or something.

I think what's happening is like... yeah show offs. but also people who are jerks/vandals trying to jack up the GTS. But I think negotiation will help a little bit...
Oh and here's a question I have for everyone. Does the global link website take place of the gts website? Because I went to the gts website and it was closed, and then I saw the japanese page and clicked it, and it had the globallink logo. I really liked the gts newspaper just because it had the jubilife casual coffee shopmusic with a cool pencil and weekly poll and you could scribble on the pictures.

anyway take care ppl

Some trades on the gts are really weird....I got a Palkia off the gts once for a Magikarp. I checked the Palkia out and it actually seemed legit. At least on face value anyway everything looked fine.

I usually don't bother looking for pokemon I just upload my own pokemon and state what I want, it's much much easier and quicker than wading through heaps of "I want a Mew, I'll give you this Bidoof for it" trades.

Purely coincidental most likely. Though I do see some similarities between Waruvile and that character in the other link. I don't really like Waruvile, nor do I really like Meguroko either. I just can't see myself using one of them in my teams. I think there's been a lot of hype for that family so I try to stay clear of them. I've seen about 100 Meguroko in White, due to Team Plasma using several of them so I'm good for now :3

guys, wanted to share about information on High Link but not sure is it a proper thread.
I am done leveling my high link tree to black level 32 and white level 37, here is the detail.
I am using Pokemon White (W) and my friend using Pokemon Black (B)
First, I "high link" to my friend, go to his tree to accept mission, there are 6 type of mission. The numbering is based on the icon location at the tree panel.

1. (Upper left icon) Support mission
- talked to the people you high link into to clear the mission

2. (Upper right icon) Support mission
- you will turned into random pokemon (raichu, tokepi, pikachu, meowth, mankey and more i guess)
- wait until the people you high link into to talk to you to clear the mission

3. (middle left icon) Battle mission
- battle the people you high link into to clear the mission (only both party's first two pokemon will be used and having the same level)

4. (middle right icon) Rescue mission
- talked to the people you high link into to help them on battle (the people must be on a battle, there will be a Exclamation Mark appearing above their head)

4. (lower left icon) Item mission
- you will turned into random pokemon.
- hide an item at the place being told (Example in front of the ghost tower) to clear the mission.
- your mission will fail if the people you high link into talked to you.

5. (lower right icon) Item mission
- sell a random item will higher price to the people you high link into to clear the mission.

above is the requirement to clear the mission, as for the detail like mission limit time is already stated on the Serebii page as we can find out.

Next, is the level up info of the the tree,
If you are playing White and high link into black, you will gain one level for your black level if you finish one mission and the mission icon will fill with your color which is white in my case.

Then, if you finish all 6 different mission stated above, then you will gain another 6 level directly for your white level. It means if you are playing white and high link into black for all 6 mission, you will end up leveling up to black level 6 and white level 6 too. (this is the best scenario i guess)

The things should work this way i guess, if your clear one mission, you will gain one level (black or white depends on the version of the people you high link into)
Then, if you happened to be the person to clear the 6th mission(no matter which mission as long as it is the last icon which have not filled with black or white color), you will gain the according color level, maybe 3 black, 3 white.

Well, it is all white for me, because i keeping pumping my level with my friend.
:P

Of course there will be people skeptical of the new Pokémon. This has happened in every generation. If this is the consensus, then it's most likely the nostalgia goggles at work. Just disregard them and talk about something else.

If I had a nickel for every time I was studying in Santa Cruz and, around the time Diamond/Pearl came out, people asked me, "What's your favorite generation?" with them flabbergasted I said anything but, "The first generation," I'd have bought myself a pair of tacos at Jack in the Box.

Is there still a cloning glitch in this game? I sometimes suspect people are attempting to do the cloning glitch whenever I enter the GTS in the 4th generation.

They're a lot rarer than those requesting, say, Level 100 Dialga. Those, I'd bet, are just kids who don't want to train Pokémon and are hoping someone has one who really wants a Level 2 Caterpie.

Omishaymin's my friend in real life :)

CN Real died a quick death. Animated programming once again dominates Cartoon Network's airwaves, the exceptions being those weird random movies they'd show.

Cartoon Network values the Pokémon show a lot (it being the last anime on there), and when a movie comes around, it will always wind up on Cartoon Network, with an encore performance, before it even comes out on video. The Zoroark movie will undoubtedly follow this pattern, as it's been since Destiny Deoxys.

The way the 4th generation GTS works is that:
- If you haven't done any trades recently, up to 3 candidates will show up.
- If you've put up a Pokémon that's been traded recently or you offered to trade one of your Pokémon for a candidate recently, up to 5 candidates will show up.
- If you've done both recently, up to 7 candidates will show up.

Presumably, this is to keep there being a large number of people on both sides of the trade. I can understand that you get sick of these unreasonably trades, but someone has to reciprocate those trades you propose.

Don't take this the wrong way (or do, your call), but to put this as bluntly as possible, who the hell are "a lot of people you have talked to" and why do we care what they think, and what the hell defines an "all time favorite" by any objective metric?

I have a two new questions.

You know how you can attempt SR's in order to make pokemon shiny and change natures? Well, I was trolling around Serebii.net and looking at the pages of the new pokemon. Then I stumbled upon Abagoura. At first, I thought that I would get what ever fossil had Aaken in it cause I liked it just a tiny bit more. After seeing the info on the Abilities for Abagoura, I REALLY want one that has "Solid Rock" as its ability.

First question: Does "Solid Rock" make Abagoura *Take* half damage from super effective attacks or *Deal* half damage for super effective attacks? (just wanna make sure)

Second Question: Can you soft reset fossils in order to get the desired Abilities?

Thanks in advance. ;)

Altaria Mist
19th October 2010, 8:18 AM
Answer to Question #1: Solid Rock reduces the damage of super-effective moves by half to your pokemon! So a Grass move just might not quite kill you after all!

Answer to Question #2:If it is like the old games where you receive the fossil from the museum and can save beforehand, then yes. Fossils are items as far as I can tell and have no preset natures, unless the system has changed.

My question: Where do you see the moving sprites for the new Generation???Want!

R_N

Solid Rock specifically reduces Super Effective damage by 1/4th

Yeah, an Earthquake can still knock out my Camerupt in one hit, unless I soften the blow with a Shuca Berry.

I'm a bit uneasy about Kojondo's name being thrown about everywhere. I know it's pretty popular in these parts, but I look at the word and I can't help but think of the vulgar term in Spanish that's spelled remarkably similar to it.

Dracoste

The ability of the other fossil pokémon is a bit useless, isn't it?
Faint Hearted: If it's HP drops below 50%, attack is decreased.
Can someone tell me the use of this ability!?

Also:
Slip Through: You slip through the opponents walls and attacks

Does that means that you can attack an opponent with light screen and still deal the normal damage? And if a pokémon use a move like wrap on it, it doesn't keep damaging you?

Faint-Hearted is like Stall, Slow Start and Truant. A bad ability to balance out an otherwise-broken pokémon.

So, to get the king's rock from the Pokémon fanclub you need to show them a pokémon of lvl. 1 and after it is lvl. 100 you need to show it again. What the heck 0_0! well... that will keep people busy for a long time.

I really think I'm neutral when it comes to Mamepato/Hatooboo/Kenhorou. Like all regional bird Pokemon, they have their weaknesses so they're bound to get in tricky spots on occasion. If I had to rank the Mamepato line from 1 to 10, 1 being dead-weight and 10 being uber useful, I'd give them a 6. Kind of in the middle, so not too good or too bad. Why do you ask anyway? :p

Yeah, Slip Through doesn't really offer anything great (Brick Break, anybody?).

And there have been Pokemon in this generation that have become some 'all-time' favourites for me (BCVM22, I'm pretty sure he meant all-time favourites as relative to each individual), like Ranculus and Zuruzukin.

Hmmm...I'll buy the english version of the game and I wanna plan my team...the thing is I absolutely love Kenhorou's design but it seems it doesn't learn many physical moves by lvl up wich is a shame cuz it has a decent attack stat. Are TM's like U-Turn and Return available early?

In every region I have a favourite flying pkmn/bird but in this region I dunno...I like Kenhorou but it has a horrible movepool,I also like Wargle but u find it very late in the game,Kokoromori is nice but has crappy stats even for ingame battles,Archeos is cool but there's something I don't like about it,Swana is too girly...even for me>.>

I dunno...
