View Full Version : Sprites and Such

4th October 2010, 4:39 PM
Okay, so I've kinda been stalking this site for a while, and I think it's time to make my own thread. I've been spriting for about two years on another site, (under the name Lizz, just in case some of you are over there XD). Without further ado, the sprites!

Okay, so I lied, there's a bit more text before you get to see the good stuff XD. So I do tons of re-vamps in my spare time because I think they're the best way to practice shading for making scratch sprites. Oh, and yes, most of my sprites 'glow' or whatever its called here. I think it's a good way to protect the outline when its transparent-ed...

Otay, so next are my scratches and pixel-overs. I put these two together because a lot of the time, they aren't seperated. If I'm having trouble scratching an outline, I'll find a picture that's simular, and pixel-it-over to get the outline. These will have descriptions for each sprite (or sprites if they evolve from each other)

My pride and joy, and one of my first full scratches. Suicune, full scratch.

Another rather early scratch. I was just messing around at the library while I was chatting with some friends.

My first requested scratch, boy did I have major problems with making tiny sprites. I should have started this while GBA sprites were the new thing :D

My most recent scratch, done entirely at school. I love doodling on my math lesson-sheet, hoo-rah for presumed ADD!

Horrible spriters block and tournement finals are not a good combination. This is part Flygon Pixel-over, part scratch. ... I seem to get stuck with making fire dragons in tournaments a lot.

Made by a prompt by one of my friends. The outline is full-out pixel-over, everything inside is scratch.

Made for a friend's Fakedex (which ended up dying). This was one of my last scratch sprites to be in GBA size.

Attempted pre-vo sprite to a water/ghost sprite I made for a tounament back on Neo.

Randomly made with no real reason behind it. I do a ton of spriting in the half-hour I get every day for lunch.

I had a vision of this sprite during math. You can tell I obviously get tons of work done in that class.

Next are some of the sprites that are the first thing a spriter learns, but one of the last things they master. It's Fusion time! (I may use the term psudeo-fusion, that's simply my way of saying I scratched something to make it look fused.

An older fusion of Lugia and Dialga. The piece on the head and the markings are psudeo-fused. My friends from Neo know I love playing with legendaries.

A fusion of three re-vamps, Dragonite, Clefable, and Ampharos.

A very heavily edited fusion of Mewtwo and Flygon. The intention was to create a 'Mewthree'.

This is my oldest sprite I have that I still like. It was made to be an Eevee-lution with a new type combination, but I don't think it really suits that theme.

I have no idea what I was thinking when I decided to make this fusion. Man on man, those pool chemicals are working wonders on me.

Yeah, something seriously wrong with me when I thought this was a good idea. What the crap, I'll be seeing that thing in my nightmares.

One of my favorite fusions, and another really old one. This one fused Pokemon from almost every Pokemon game together. Thank goodness for the power to re-shade.

My 'persona' sprite. Have fun guessing what it means.

One of my favorite combinations that I abuse the most. The original of this sprite was made in D/P sprite, this one has been updated with HG/SS (I think). This fusion really got me started, and was my first successful fusion.

Abuse #2, a five Pokemon fusion using Numel, Lapras, Dragonair, Sandslash and Vaporeon.

Abuse #3, Numel and Octillery.

Abuse #4, Numel, Golem and Armaldo.

See y'all later, time to go back to class

Ooh, Those look very nice.

Your revamps are, well, rather lazy. Rather than resizing it and editing it to make it look like a new style sprite (which is what a revamp is) you've simply opted to reshade it. Granted, these reshades are fairly well done (except for the Quagsire and Rapidash, whose shading are backwards), but it's still a mislabeling.

The Suicune is practically miniature and is missing some details (beard thingie), as well as having an extremely awkward looking left leg that is literally a copy paste of the other leg. It's jutting out far too much. The outline of the body is also annoyingly light and wavy.

Ohi Lizz. :3 I don't post here much but saw your thread and now shall stalk it! >:K You have been warned. I think you should post some LGMA sprites here, those are my favourites (:

I'm sorry about the re-vamps, BynineB, but back on my home site of Neo, those are what we consider re-vamps. I suppose the standards are different on whichever site you visit.
It's so nice to see so many neo-peeps here too! I can't wait to share some of my newer works with you guys. While I'm waiting for dinner to cook (because I'm waay too lazy to do my homework) I'm gonna update some more sprites. Don't worry Fourthey, I'll add some LMGA ones ;D I just hope that while I'm here, the comments of the other spriters of Serebii will help me improve. And now the perilous journey begins to become a master. Watch out world, Lizz is comin' back!

One thing I've certainly noticed is that the Serebii forums are a lot more ... critical, I suppose is the best word for it. I'll be interested to see what you think are your best sprites x3

Meh, it'll be more than some of my best, but you'll recognise a ton of the FB. Ah well, critical is good I suppose, I want to improve, and sometimes soft comments don't do the job (yes that is me giving you permission to rip my sprites apart on Neo XD). Meh, curse Serebii for logging me out, otherwise there'd mbe more up right now.

do you have a sprite shop because if you do that would be awsome! Your sprites are sooooo cool I will defiantly be watching this thread too!

I've edited the first post with more pixel-overs/scratch and fusions.

I really like your fusions. Very cute.

Adding two new Pixel-Overs/Scratch, and a fusion
My two dancer sprites. I didn't put these up sooner because I thought I already had :o . They are heavily scratched over pixel-overs of Kirlia.

An older animation, either made at the beginning of this year, or end of last. It's a heavy fusion of Sandshrew, Zubat, Cranidos, and probably something else too.

Don't mind the naggish crit on the revamps. Half the people belive in the "full revamp" and others think recolouring is fine. I like them, as do I the rest of the sprites. Keep up the hard work.

Your outlines appear to be rather anglar and rigid at times. For example, the blue dragon thing with fluffy wings. Its wings are rather strangely shaped.

You need to work a little more on your shading too. At the moment they aren't applied in a rounded fashion. It'd give your work a lot more depth if you could make it smoother.

I'm only referring to the scratch sprites though.
