Tip one: Don't resize sprites. If you need them bigger so you can work on them, use the zoom function.
Tip two: Save as PNG. Other file types distort the image.

Until you do that, any and all sprites you make will look appaling, regardless of skill.
Once you do have them formatted properly, we can give you tips on how to improve in other ways.

ps. : i don't care if you say it is bad, cause i will totally agree ^^
i just want to know if there are some good things..:P

All thats saying is that you want mindless praise from everyone. You don't get praise by telling people you don't want to hear bad things, you earn it.

pps. : feel free to post your own sprites, everything is welcome.

No, read the forum rules, you have a sprite thread and you alone put sprites in your thread. Otherwise there would be no point of having this sub-forum, it would just be one big thread with everyones sprites in it.

Anyways, the new sprite is pretty solid for a beginner. the main problems I see with it is that on the raichu ear closest to us, it almost looks like its behind the head, when it should be laying on it to show its actually connected to his head. Just moving it down a little more should help with that.

But it does seem like you have all the basics down, and I would say do one or two more of these fusions, then start making your own parts using the line tool or pen tool to really get some nice stuff.

@ raiga

yeah, now i read the 'post your sprite' part, i see that it sounds a bit weird :$
you are right ;)

And thanks for the comments! ( i don't want mindless praise, otherwise i wouldn't learn something from this)

Is it just me, or are the first two a jpeg. file? I'm using a computer where I can't see the properties, so I'm not sure but it just looks like it.

Otherwise, just keep in mind to recolor some things when you put them on, such as the crobat wings on the ditto.

yeah, the first two are jpeg. i made them before and i tried to make them png but it didn't work.

(i'm sorry if my english is bad, but i am 12 and i just had english on school for a jear -i'm dutch- ) ;)

Showing sprites here in JPEG is like giving homework to your teacher that has been dunked into water.

It doesn't work.

Anyway, the parts from the splices seem to be just stuck on without a care of whether they match or not. Take Ditto + Crobat. Ditto isn't even the same colour of the wings, so it appears like it's not part of its body.

Yeah, thats the problem with jpeg. is that it saves what it screws up as part of the picture, so even if you save it again it doesn't matter.

And don't worry about your english, I honestly didn't even notice it.

jpeg. just screws up everything...

http://i56.*******.com/taocj4.pnghttp://i51.*******.com/mhvlg7.pnghttp://i56.*******.com/2a0ffoh.png

the mesprit/castform lost a piece of its tail, i'm gonna fix it later. ;)

does anyone have an idea for a new fusion?

ps.: i'm gonne remake the ones that are screwed up by jpeg.

Hey! Those last 3 are pretty good!

As for Larvitar-Pikachu combo, it looks pretty good, but you might want to consider making the Ears a little longer. (Maybe get a Pikachu sprite from another Gen. then just Revamp the Ears and add them?)

Castform-Mesprit is nearly perfect. You kind of distorted Mesprits uhh, hair? Just fix that up a little and it should be good.

Umbreon-Espeon. I love that one, but the only thing that bugs me is the Umbreon-Espeon balence. Its a little too Espeon and not enough Umbreon... unless of course that was what your going for.

Other than that, pretty good sprites dude, keep up the good work! = D

Thanks ;)

and about the umbreon/espeon: that's exactley what i thought (?? i'm sorry i don't know how you write that..) after i made it. it was supposed to be 50% umbreon 50% espeon, but it turned out more like 75% espeon and 25% umbreon.

some new ones:

http://i54.*******.com/67jyuf.pnghttp://i56.*******.com/33k7u3r.png

about the lapras/torterra:
the 'horn' was supposed to be like the spikes torterra has on his back, but it kinda looks like its just placed on the head of lapras. (or is it ok?)

i guess those two are ok, but they are mostley lapras and gardevoir, and less torterra and abomasnow.

oh, and i also made a snorlax/ambipom, but that needs some editing before i post it here.

I can definately see a rapid improvement so well done! I can see you're getting better at scratching, which always makes sprites look a lot better and more original.

I think you should keep practising making the small details, like the lapras fusions new horn, look more attatched, if you get what I mean. Also keep trying to add more parts to your base sprites and maybe try combining three sprites? I dunno.

Anywho, keep up the good work!

Hey! Definate improvement! Great job on Gardesnow! Keep up the good work!

They have certainly gotten better, but theres still a lot of room for improvement. The arm furthest away from us isn't connected right, its halff hanging off and the arm is much too thin for the hand. Compare it to the other arm and you'd have one double the thickness of the other.

The Lapras looks ok, theres not much you have really done then change the shell and added a horn. In my opinion, the horn doesn't fit very well, it seems to connect with the head, I suggest rotating it so its on a nearly 90 degree angle.

They aren't really too original ideas, pretty much every Rapidash Evo turns out to be a recolour with some wings slapped on. But I like this one more because it seems a bit different. I like how you've made the hooves and the horn red, making them appear to be very hot.

I'm not fond of the sableye evo, mostly because I can't really tell what it's actually meant to be. There is hardly any shading and what little shading on the extra head parts is wrong. And now that I've actually looked at it in Paint, I can see that you've just resized something to be bigger and the pixals have stretched which makes it look very messy.

EzzPeon
14th October 2010, 8:58 PM
@ tomthepom

i didn't had much original ideas >.<

and the sableye thing was just a concept i am going to use by making 'the real' one. but i agree that it is VERY messy.

There's nothing to crit on this because it's a recolored egg with skitty parts tacked on. That's not an egg.

http://i54.*******.com/2libkhg.png
I'm not particularly fond of fake evolutions of existing pokemon for multiple reasons. This is one of them. They tend to be multiple pokemon slapped together with all the parts recognizable. It's obvious you used gastly and sableye in it, and maybe seadra. It's a floating sableye thing with unshaded, awkwardly twisted... spikes? They need shading and definition.

http://i53.*******.com/xp9376.png
This one is better, but not much. It's just a shadeless rapidash with articuno wings pasted on.

These things take time. If you never try new things like scratching and shading, you'll never learn. Try looking at several pokemon with the body type of yours and get a feel for how the light hits them. You've got potential, and I don't mean to sound rude at all, but just keep going. Take these things into consideration.

Aside from the sprites, use the edit button please. All you do by posting in the same thread 5 minutes after your previous post, aside from gaining postcount, is slow the forums. Not trying to minimod, but it'd be easier for us to veiw and develop an opinion quicker.

The Umresol is near perfect, with a shading error here/there. But the other isn't as good, as still it is a bit over c+p'd. Keep up the improvement!

er... i think this sounds very stupid but is it possible to get rid of the white background (i'm using paint)

or do i have to download gimp???

Lh_Dreamer
19th October 2010, 8:58 PM
You can get rid of white background using SumoPaint. (http://www.sumopaint.com/home/) First, click "Open SumoPaint", then select Magic Wand Tool, click white background and click delete from your keyboard. Oh, I almost forgot, remember little spots too.

CaptainCombusken

or use, Iaza. (http://www.iaza.com/) I use it for all my WBGsn (White be Gones). Load the picture (in the obvious place) then go "transparent" on the right hand column. After that, make sure the colour you want to make transparent isn't the same as any other colour on your sprite, and get rid of that colour by clicking on it and then pressing the "Convert" button.

Overall, I think your sprites are improving quite rapidly. They're looking rather good now. Misgardrose is actually a very good sprite. Just be careful on the black outline. Looks like there isn't one in some places where there should be.
As well as this, and this is my biggest problem as well, shading. On Umbresol, it look in places like you haven't shaded properly.

@Proby, lol. Its actually White Back Grounds, but your version is much appealing.
If using Iaza, it can become quite troublesome, as if the eyes or body parts are white, it removes them too.

No, it does stand for White be gone. White backgrounds doesn't make sense, you're not making a white background, and the background isn't always white.

tomthepom
20th October 2010, 11:46 AM
Ok easiest thing to do, just make the background a colour that ISN'T on the sprite, then upload it to Iaza, click the Transparent button then click the background colour. There, 3 easy steps.
