Hi,
Welcome, I hope you enjoy the forum.

Well for the sprite, it actually looks quit good for a first try.
The main this that bothers be is that the bakc of the body is just gone... You can't see what's behind it so now it just looks like a sphere with a lion head. Also the lines are a bit to straight. Try to make more smooth lines. The face actually is quit good. It's a bit flat but that can easily be gone by adding some more shading. Also the color of the mouth is too dark. It makes it stick out too much...

So you have something to work on,I would say :p
Good luck with it.

Ps: I also suggest of taking a little peak at project pheonix. I think you really would have alot of fun there :p

I was proven correct when I copied that into Paint. Buddy, it's a Jpeg file. The WORST thing you can do to a sprite is make it a Jpeg file... it ruins the quality of the image.

Look at Jappio's Splicing tutorial as at the end he tells you about making files PNG, the file they should be. I'm afraid you can't simply open this sprite and change it to PNG. You'll have to make it again unless if it's saved as a PNG somewhere else.

And while you remake it, concider a light source for the shading. It will always come in from a 70 degree angle to the top left. As commented earlier, the last portion of the body is missing, but it has a great concept. If aiming this to be serpent-like, much smoother lines are needed, so making them more slender would be better.

I literally just **** myself.

The detail is there, now size is of the matter. I am amazed at how quickly you have grasped the concept of shading. Keep working on it, okay?

First of all, for the mid scion of the tail, near the awkward branch-off near the base, needs to be thicker, but just a bit.

For the green circle on the head, add large horns if you want to. The sprite, aside from being the shitofthecehtury, is a bit bland.

Under the jaw and on the neck, utilize a dark shad, that gradually gets lighter. But, for under, have it get brighter to the top left, and for the neck, gradually to the lower right.

Near the lower front of the sprite, have the original colour get brighter near the upper left. Dither if nessesary.

And for the back, similar to the neck, have it gradually brighten as you get further right.

This thing will look epic. Keep working on it!

No problem buddy. A few things need fixing though. This thing needs black outline in the darker reigons of the sprite. There should only be red outline for preliminary work, and on the red spikes themselves. It needs to be a darker red too. Also, for the lighter non-red spots, use a slightly darker colour than the darkest of that colour for the outilne. The shading on this thing is brilliant. Great Job.

It looks fine.

But you still have jagged intercept lines throughout the body, the eye is missing, the white spots, and some spots are missing colour

You did a great job on this.
