[QUOTE=Yumeara;14284914]Been trying in vain to get both a legitimate Tornadus and Thundurus to trigger Landorus pop. So far I have 3 of each, maybe someone could help me figure out which, if any, are legitimate. I currently presume all are hacked, but perhaps the issue is with some being japanese? Does having both of them in your party not work if they aren't from the same language as the game? (Sorry for the length of this post.)

In order to unlock the Landorus battle you need to have both Tornadus and Thundurus, But one of them MUST be caught in your game. So if you traded for all 6 of those that would be why it has not worked since they are not in your OT.

Accordin to bulbapedia, it should say 'Had a fateful encounter'. Not sure if that classifies it as a hack though. Other than that, everything seems to be in place.

nothing about it screams hacked, so it should be good :) Dark Pulse and Counter are egg moves so theres nothing wrong there, all of th information matches up with a standard egg hatch and the date is completely irrelevant (although, with a weird date like that, it might be RNGed so you might want to check it out at the battle subway to see) Other than that, it looks fine

AFAIK, the only legit celebi you can get off the GTS would be the 3rd gen bonus disc one. all the ones from 4th & 5th gen have been event ones & have the classic ribbon so they are not GTS-able...so unless you know the person who has the disc, i wouldn't trust any celebi that comes from the GTS...

there are a few others actually. There is the Jungle tours Celebi (ID# 60720), the 10 Aniv Celebi (ID# 00010), The Pokepark Celebi (ID# 60623) and then there's the Bonus Disc Celebi from Colosseum (ID# 31121). All of those are legit event Celebi that don't have an event ribbon, and all come in the standard pokeball. Any of those could be obtained over the GTS but each has a set OT and ID number so you can always verify which one you have and if it is indeed legit :)

it didnt say it was nicknamed in the Legality analysis, did it?
I also believe there was a special case in poketransferring where the lettering CAN change, but I'd try and google around about the lettering.

I don't speak much Japanese, but I think that says "Naruto".... or something. Like from the anime about the demon fox boy. I could be completely wrong, though. In any case, it's definitely not the OT of a Japanese event Mew.

If this Mew came from Hoenn, it is possible that it is a real Old Sea Chart Mew from Emerald where the OT SR'd for the shiny Mew, and that Mew would have the player's OT and not an event OT.

unfortunately we can never give you a definitive answer. The best we can do is spot obvious hacks, but if the mew was edited then there would be coding issues that we wouldnt be able to detect. There are legality checkers out there on the internet that can check that stuff for you though

It is possible that the traded used warp codes or hacked the event items to get the pokemon. They would come up as legit because, technically speaking, they are. The issue would be with the method in which they were obtained. If you dont know for sure that the game they came from was hacked then there ie really nothing you can do (although the english mew seems to make the case pretty clear IMO)

I believe what Dewey was trying to say that most of the shiny Mew out there come with a flaw, which without a legality checker, such as Pokécheck, cannot be proved to be legit. As in, most of the Shiny Mew out there have Unknown GBA PID or were edited.

Not strictly a hack check issue but I figure this is the best place. I have been offered the Kyushu Sceptile, Blaziken and Swampert in their shiny forms and have been shown a source which says it is possible. I was wondering if anyone else could confirm whether this in the case.

yes it is possible since the wondercards for these don't have the normal shiny check in place along with the extremespeed pikachu ad pc groudon.

How do I tell the difference between a Janta's Golurk and a McDonald's Golurk? (aside from the date because this can be changed)

Well, based on the fact that the OT is Kayden, and your username has that as well, that you hatched/bred this Pokemon, and you're wondering if it's considered hacked because of te hacked parents. If so, then the answer is, it depends. Personally, as long as there's nothing wrong with the baby, I don't care if the parents were hacked, and since Zorua/Zoroark share an egg group with Smeargle, you don't even have to worry about illegal egg move combinations. But, everyone is different, and some people may say it's hacked because of the parents. If it had illegal egg moves, it'd be hacked, no questions asked.

If I'm wrong about what you're asking, though, tell me.

Nope. It's completely possible for a Pokemon have more than one 31 IV. In fact, it's possible for every stat to have a 31 IV.

Some people consider them hacked, and others do not. If you want to trade one, it would be in your best interest to tell your trading partner that you got it from cloning in Pokecheck to make sure that he/she is okay with that.

a legal hack is a hack pokemon that looks legit and may even pass a legality test. However, the pokemon is still hacked and there is usally a way to tell. Some people consider pokemon with things like "Invalid PID", "Invalid terminator sequence", or "Invalid trash bites" to be legal hacks because the pokemon is the same as it would be (i.e. the ability isnt something crazy- like a Shedinja with endure- and the moves are normal) but a through investigation reveals that the coding is wrong.

As for the Deoxys, its hard to say. Some people argue that a shiny Space-C Deoxys is possible and others dont think so. iirc, the argument goes something like only a few natures of Space-C Deoxys can be shiny (i dont think modest was one of them but i dont know) As for the GTS issue, gen 5 GTS doesnt allow Shiny Deoxys, Jirachi, or Celevi to be uploaded (no clue why)

true, i meant you cant upload it to there via the normal GTS. You would need to extract the .pkm file from the game and upload it. If you can extract the .pkm file then you can upload anything. But if your limited to just a wifi connection and a DS then the game prevents those shiny pokemon from being uploaded (at least iirc. I havent tried with any of those pokemon in quite some time :p)

Is there a legit shiny Celebi? It seems like everybody has a different answer to that question. Some think that shiny Ageto's are possible, while others don't. Is there an answer one way or the other?

In terms of Jirachi, I heard that Nintendo wants to phase shiny Jirachi out. Blocking the PID is just a step in that direction. They also deny that a legit shiny Jirachi ever existed. As to why they're doing this, it's anyone's guess.

No clue about Deoxys. Probably something similar to what's going on with Jirachi.

Shiny Celebi is another one of those tricky pokemon. I dont think there has been a conclusive answer as to whether or not it can be shiny or not. At this point its pretty much up to the person to determine if its legit or not. If you think they can exits then they are legit, if not, avoid them. Sorry, i know thats not much help, but thats all i know :/

As for the Jirachi issue, thats weird. I had heard about that before but i thought it was just a rumor (why would nintendo want to deny the existence of a shiny pokemon anyway?) I have heard they take the same stance with shiny Manaphy too due to the way in which the shiny quality is determined. It wouldnt even be feasible for a shiny Manaphy to exist if the RNG hadn't been debugged. Its even weirder that they would try to do this with Deoxys since it could be legitimately obtained on any retail game cart or FR/LG. You could just soft reset for it and not have to do anything special. Oh well, let Nintendo do their thing i guess. But on point, thats all i know about those pokemon and sorry that i couldnt help more :/ (maybe Kaphotics or Bond will drop by, they do on occasion, and lend some advice :p)

No problem. Shiny Celebi is probably one of the biggest mysteries in the game. I've ran into a couple of people saying that they have a "verified" shiny Ageto, which from what I understand is BS considering nobody knows conclusively if it's even possible or not.

About the Jirachi case, apparently people have e-mailed Gamefreak/Nintendo about this, and their answer was that a shiny Jirachi is not legally obtainable. Even though there's conclusive evidence that you can get a shiny WISHMKR Jirachi from the Colosseum bonus disk(Don't know about CHANNEL, though). My hunch is that they didn't mean to make that Jirachi shiny eligible, but made some sort of error. So they're blacklisting it because in their minds, it shouldn't have existed in the first place. That's the best reason I can come up with. Either way, they're legit despite Ninty's denial lol.

They are hacks since you got them from the gts. Gamestop deoxys has a ribbon which prevents you from trading it over gts. So they were hacked without the ribbon to trade over gts.

Hmm, wasn't the shiny Ageto Celebi proven to be hacked cos Celebi all come with a shiny check, preventing them from being shiny just like Victini, Arceus, Zekrom and Reshiram?

no, the Lax shiny Ageto celebi was proven to be hacked, but not all shiny Ageto celebi's have been conclusively proven to be hacks (at least not the last time i checked) As for the shiny check, i doubt it would be the same thing as it is with the gen 5 legendary pokemon simply because that would mean GF decided to use this method once, and then not again for 9 years (its possible thats the case, but it just seems improbable to me, but hey, who am i really :p) Again though, thats just what i gathered the last time i purused the internet and looked over some of Kaphotics research (all of which can be found on smogon) so the answer might have changed between than and now, or i might have completely misunderstood Kaphotics research

Also i should mention, while it wasnt conclusive, Kaphotics research seemed to be indicating that there is a high probability that shiny Ageto celebi does have some sort of mechanic behind its generation that prevents it from being shiny. Again though, he said more research need to be done, but thats how it was looking at that point (if i understood him)

any event that has a wondercard cannot be shiny unless the evnet was suppose to be shiny. However, the new Strongest pokemon (or whatever that new train station event in japan is called) has wondercards that lack the shiny check. Everything from the extremespeed pikachu on down can be shiny. Its currently unclear (to me anyway) if nintendo has completely removed the shiny check from all wondercards from now on, or if this is exclusive to this event and why it was done. Further, most wondercards that give items allow for the pokemon obtained by that item to be shiny (Victini and the liberty Ticket are the exception). Most gen 3 events lacked a shiny check, but the odds of any being shiny are extremely slim and the odds of any finding their way on the internet and then here on serebii make any of those almost guaranteed hacks (Such as the Hadous and 10 ANIV events that have all caused a stir on here at one point or another)

faraway island mew, and birth island Deoxys while were on the subject, can indeed be shiny as they were regular wild encounter pokemon and so were generated like any other wild pokemon. Ageto celebi still has that cloud of suspicion over it that is currently being researched but has yet to be proven one way or the other, so thats an "up to the individual" kinda thing atm (for what its worth, Serebii seems to allow it to be traded so Serebii might view it as legit) As for RNGing gen 3 events, that is extremely unlikely. Gen 3 RNG mechanics were only recently discovered and the odds of someone holding onto an event since 2006 so they can RNG it 6 years later in 2012 is extremely unlikely. If anything, those events were hacked into the game or hacking devices were used to get toi the locations (such as a warp code to get to Mews island in emerald, or hacking the Azure flute into the game to get HoO Arceus. If you dont want to trade hacks then the prudent thing to do would be to assume that any shiny event you get that isnt suppose to be shiny is hacked (excluding those recent train station ones) The same goes for flawless event pokemon from gen 3. A Flawless 10 ANIV pokemon was probably edited and not RNGed

So, what you're saying is that:
1. GBA events mostly do not have shiny checks
2. Most wondercard events have shiny checks, except for certain wondercard events, such as the Super-Strong events and PC Fukuoka Groudon/ Kyogre
3. Lax Shiny Ageto Celebi is a hack, but other shiny Ageto Celebi(s) may be legit/ legal hacks, but Kaphotics and the other RNG researchers are still at it, trying to crack whether Celebi actually can be shiny and legit at the same time.
4. Space C Deoxys is possibly shiny, but whether Modest is one of the natures is not confirmed.
Right?

1. pretty much. The old event pokemon used to be traded directly from one game to the players game iirc so there really wasnt anything in place to prevent a shiny from appearing
2. not most, all won dercard events have shiny checks up to the train station events. Current those 5 pokemon (Pikachu, Sceptile, Swampert, Blazikan, and Groudon) are the only events that can either be shiny or not. Every other wondercard event has a set shiny standard, either yes or no.
3. Yes. the last thing i remember reading was that it was looking like the game prevented celebi from being shiny. When the game landed on a PID frame that would result in a shiny the game simply advanced the frame to the next non-shiny frame. However, they hadn't quite figured out all of the mechanics of pokemon generation and frame advancement in the game to say for certain that the reason the frame advanced like that was to prevent a shiny. The way i read it there was still the possibility that there was something else advancing the frame that they hadnt figured out yet and they still were not 100% sure on the generation mechanics of Celebi.
4. IIRCS Space-C Deoxys was one of those events that was traded straight to the players game and so it didnt have anything in place to prevent it from being shiny. Again though, the odds of one finding its way on the internet is highly unlikely especially given the limited distribution of that event (wasn't it given out at the Huston space station or something like that? How many people in Huston really played pokemon back then? There probably wasnt more then a few thousand at most given out, and the chances of a shiny are still 1/8192)

2. Well, I have heard that the Fukuoka Train Station events aren't the only ones without shiny checks from a source I'd rather not disclose right now.
4. So, your point being, due to the rarity of the Deoxys, plus the odds of someone who actually went to the event itself and SR for shiny, the Deoxys is most likely to be a hack? At least, not tradeable (for now)?

It may be possible that other wondercards dont have the check, but those are the only ones i have heard of (i dont really follow events that much though so its very possible i missed something)

Its hard to say for sure, but its always better to err on the side of caution, or at least mark it as caveat emptor

many RNGs have elected to use the masterball on Cofagrigus because of the matching color scheme so its not that weird really. There are 2 in game masterballs and the person could always clone their masterball or trade for more. All in all the masterball is really no cause for concern and the pokemon looks fine.

Most consider them hacks, so yes.
I personally do not find them hacks, but thats me

Shiny Flawless is 99.999% impossible without RNG.

And from what I heard, RNG-ing in Emerald is rather hard? Not sure about it, but I'm sure about the need to RNG.

And tell your friend many people would like to punch him in the face for resetting a shiny mew :p (just joking~)

from what i hear its not that hard, but the spreads are not as pretty as gen 5. If you want a shiny flawless pokemon in gen 3 i have heard you will have to wait about 2-3 months for the RNG to progress to that point (that is, if your game doesnt turn off and just runs non-stop the entire time) I was told that the spread Eppie used (31/30/31/9/30/31) appears after only 86 minutes (a lot better then 3 months if you ask me) but whether or not its shiny depends on your ID/SID combo, something that cannot be controlled for yet (to my knowledge). I

@deathtaker I would highly recommend that you friend just take the next shiny mew he gets as he will have a unique, legit shiny mew, something a lot harder to come by then a flawless mew. IMO, that would be the best thing to shoot for.

*wonders* why in the world would anyone pass up their very own shiny mew -.- thats an interesting story

Yes they are. It is because of you did not obtain it on your own or someone you know and here Serebii is against third party OTers.

Not really, since there is absolutely no difference from a real one. However, this is Serebii, and some people have a... Interesting view on legitimacy.

Not hard, but extremely time consuming. Excluding breeding, there are only a handful of 'good' spreads within the first... Day? At any rate, if you see a flawless caught Pokemon from Emerald, it's most likely either hacked or abused on a emulator

I'm not quite sure about this one, obtained via the GTS.

I have 2004 Japan movie speed form Deoxys, available only via FireRed, with the moves taunt, pursuit, psychic and superpower. However in the event database this moveset is next to the attack form.
I've also come to learn that the form of Deoxys depends on the game, with FireRed being unable to produce a speed Deoxys. BUT in SS/HG you can change Deoxys to whatever form you'd prefer, so there is the possibility that they've done just that.
The Deoxys doesn't show any red flags otherwise when checked, it's just its form that is odd.

A J? Erm.. I've never heard of that. No, Japanese pokemon don't have a "J" on their summary, from my experiences... They're just like pokemon in any other language.
As for this one, you can tell it's Japanese because of the hiragana...

No. Iirc, you can hack a NN onto a poké but it won't turn out as hacked, as the poké itself isn't hacked. And besides, if you're playing in WiFi battles such as Random Matchup or Battle Competition, NNs won't be shown, to avoid a certain NN turning out to be swearing in a different language.

Yes, there are non-ribbon Darkrai events whereby you have to catch Darkrai by yourself. It looks legit, probably RNGed by a Japanese/ Korean (I'd assume so since those are the only languages available without romanized letters) trader...

Looks fine to me. Should be an Old Sea Chart Mew~

EDIT: Or as v says, it could also be a Hadou Mew, seeing that it's in a Pokéball...

The OT leads me to believe that it's a Hadou Mew.

The ID matches up with the 2005 movie event Mew. Im horrible with the japanese names for events so i have no clue if thats the Hadou or not (im under the impression the Hadou is also called Poke park and that the movie mew is different) either way, it looks to be a legit event mew

Hadou essentially means Aura, so it's most likely the movie one.

Is there any situation in which any of the crown beasts would not have the try taking it to lostlorn forest comment on the summary and still be legit?

The crown beasts can only be used one ever, so they could have another message. I can't remember exactly what it says, but it should say Something.

It would say something like "it defeated Zoroark's illusion" if it had been used.
If it just says "arrived from johto" or something like a normal poketransfer pokemon, then it's hacked/improperly transferred.

It still says fateful encounter but just arrived from Johto instead of defeated Zoroarks illusion after that. By improperly transferred do you mean if its converted from gen 4 to gen 5 using a program instead of the transfer machine? and is it still considered legit if this is the case or not?

its still legit, it just means someone pal parked it instead of using the relocater (or whatever that thing was called). Either way, its fine, just not usable for Zoroark

Doubt it, since Often Lost In Thought isn't a 31. Odds are it was just a lucky random encounter.
