I'm about 9000% sure it's hacked, just because of its rarity and the fact that I got it over Wonder Trade.

Pokemon Species: Volcanion
Pokemon Gender: Genderless
Nickname: It's in Japanese.
OT: Japanese name.
IDno: 04166
Shiny?: No
EV's: not sure
IV's: not sure (but the battle expert said they were all good)
Nature: Modest
Characteristic: Somewhat vain
Ability: Water Absorb
Moves: Steam Eruption, Overheat, Hydro Pump, Mist
Level Caught at: 70
Current Level: 70
Stats:
Attack - 162
Defense - 194
Sp. Attack - 277
Sp. Defense - 152
Speed - 125
Location Caught: Apparently a fateful encounter; Pokemon Movie 16
Date Met: 4/16/2016
Egg?: No.
Pokeball Caught In: Cherish Ball
Ribbons: Gorgeous Royal Ribbon
Blue Pentagon? (yes/no): Yes.
Any other notes?: All the symbols by the blue pentagon are black.
And you are 9000% correct. No Wishing Ribbon is the red flag, and it seems to be flawless; you forgot HP stat so I couldn't calculate IVs but the stats match up. (The symbols don't mean anything though; someone just decided to mark them with all of them.)
Also for the future, be wary of anything received on the first date of an event; Wonder Card PowerSaves all have the start dates.

Shameless plug to Serebii'S Event Database (http://serebii.net/events/) which you can cross-reference with for easy hack-checking!

Hm, this one is tricky. It's possible to get flawless Shinies by breeding so that part's not concerning. No issues with the Dream Ball or moveset, and if it has memories it should be fine. The only thing is the date (that's before XY even came out lol), though I guess you can change the date on your DS to manipulate that?

I would personally not trust it, but you may need a second opinion.

It sounds weird but I like to hatch special pokemon on certain calendar days like lunar and solar ecplipses. If you go backwards or forewards enough to find these dates they can end up being before the game came out.

as for the pokemon in question I would have to get on pokemon showdown to see what those stats look like in a simulator, but even if it's flawless like you said that's still possible on a shiny because of destiny knot breeding and also there is TSV hatching now which is kind of the new version of RNG abuse (or as close as we get to it now).

Hm, good point, but that then brings in the question of why that date? The only thing Google brought up was a blizzard that happened around then in North America, and Idk why that would be special. I guess it could be a birthday or some personally special date, but it still seems odd to me.

Oh of course, I know about that stuff. So I guess the consensus is its fine.

Hatched Shiny isn't much concern for alarm. Can't calculate IVs because it says the ATK is too low, but regardless, as we've said above, it's not an issue. At a glance I see no issues, but always be wary of WT Shinies.

Assuming these stats are from Origin form, with EVs in HP/Atk.

Soaring in the Sky legends are not Shiny locked, so it is possible. 6IV on a legend, plus Shininess, is really unlikely though. WT as well. I wouldn't trust it.

I had a general question about event pokemon in generation IV

I saw someone asking for a shiny poke fest mew but I thought only the Old Sea Map Mew was the only legit shiny mew.

can gen IV events be SR'ed to get a shiny or are the events all shiny locked like current events?

Kevin24

only mew that can be shiny is from japanese faraway island in gen 3. if any other mew is shiny it is hacked

Thanks for the response! That answers my question about themew :)

So does that mean on older events (and newer ones too) if the event is not guaranteed shiny then it is shiny locked? (meaning you can't SR an old event from mystery gift to be shiny, like gen III, IV, or V)

I know that the movie arceus had a chance to be shiny but it depended on which code you got then it was guranteed you didn't have to SR for it to be shiny.

I think it varies. I've seen a lot of people trading around Shiny versions of the Kyushu Train events since apparently they were set with the possibility to be Shiny. However, most recent events like Volcanion and Zygarde (a code and WiFi event respectively) are locked. It seems to be on a case-by-case status.

dang that makes it harder to tell which older events are legit or not. As far as I can tell I haven't seen any gen VI event that can be SRéd to be shiny. It either is shiny or it's not.

Are Kyushu Train events a gen V thing?

It looks fine even though the Master Ball is rather odd, but you can get multiple of them from Secret Base Pals so maybe this person had some to spare. Given that it has Flare Blitz they could have been worried about it KOing itself so used the Master Ball as a precaution. It just looks like a Shiny someone caught in ORAS while DexNav chaining but didn't have the stats or nature they were after so they put it on WT.

This looks like it's meant to mimic the Old Sea Chart Mew. The ID seems very unlikely though. Otherwise it doesn't match up with any other event of the time.

My gut instinct says hack, since it's also Shiny and from a long time ago. An event like that wouldn't just be spinning around the GTS.

Raikou could be legit because it probably came from HGSS and you could RNG IVs and Shinyness relatively easily. It's also caught in a Fast Ball so nothing strange there.

Lugia only triggers a flag because I'm not sure any wild-caught Lugia in Hoenn has the "fateful encounter" tag. With a regular PokeBall however, it seems pretty suspicious. My initial thought is hack.

Finally, Ho-Oh just looks like a Shiny Ho-Oh from OR. But, I did the calculations for IVs and it looks flawless. So, probably a hack.

I received a hacked volcanion from that same OT. I would not trust that OT AuSLove.TV because I have known them to spread hacks. The pokemon might be "legal" but if you look at all the ribbons it has since the hatch date they would pretty much have to be playing full time since the egg hatched to get them onto the pokemon and also not to mention getting it to 100. Probably doable but because of the OT my verdict is: legal, but probably a hack none the less due to OT.

Seems like a normal dex chain Shiny to me. It's a little strange that it's Lv. 100 unevolved, but there's nothing else to trigger a red flag.

You didn't provide HP so I couldn't check the IVs; if they are flawless or very high that would change its legitimacy. Blue Pentagon is the symbol that marks if the Pokemon was born in XYORAS; since it seems to be from ORAS it should have it.

Oh, well then, it seems to be flawless (EV spread something like 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Spd, but the SpD value is apparently too high). In that case I would say it's a hack.

So what's probably happening is that someone has two games with the same name. The Breloom is from XY, while the Smeargle is from ORAS. The date is something that can easily be changed, so it shouldn't be a problem. I would say that they're fine; the Breloom looks like it was just a lucky find, and the Smeargle looks like a shiny egg with Destiny Knot breeding. If they were hacked, they would more likely have perfect IV/nature spreads, especially since it appears that they know about IV breeding.

No ribbon = hack, in this chase. No exceptions. Made to look like the Shiny Arceus event, or maybe it was actually it but the ribbon was hacked off (since I guess you can do that?). Either way its no good.

I have this same problem! (I live in Japan so often my events show a date after the last day.) It depends on who you want to trade it to. Many traders I've met here don't mind as long as the OT, ID, moves, etc. are okay. Just make sure to tell people before you trade it to them!

I'm actually going to say that it's fine. Pokebox Pokemon are rare as is, and shiny ones are even rarer. However, the OT/TID is (somewhat) known to be someone who obtained several shiny PBs legitimately, and hack checking it in previous generations with SIDs/files/etc. should verify that. Also it's a clone of one that's in Kevin24's collection and I trust him lol.

I do know that Wishmkr Jirachi can be shiny, but the legal combinations are very limited, I don't know the exact number, but I read somewhere that is just 9 legal combinations of shiny Jirachi. However, I have no clue if the combination that you are holding is one of the legal ones. :/

After a little research, I've only been able to find that some of the legit natures are Docile, Bashful, Careful, Lonely, Serious and Jolly. I couldn't find a list of the exact ones that are in transit though. Doesn't give much more info as I'm not sure what the last 3 natures are.

So I think that WISHMKR Jirachi isn't constrained by any nature combinations; only gen 3 and 4 Pokemon with perfect IV spreads have that. That being said, shiny WISHMKRs are extremely rare, and the 9 out there are pretty much the only ones where there's a common consensus that it's legit/legal. I believe the other natures are hasty, naughty, and timid, and this naughty/thrash about one has been cloned and passed on for a while now, so I think it's fine.

Doesn't seem that unlikely since I guess you could RNG back then, and I think this is one of the natures that could get flawless. I'm unsure if it's supposed to say "fateful encounter" tho? I never figured this out for 3rd Gen events.

tl;dr Looks fine to me!

Also, you can't trade any Mew on the GTS, regardless of where you got it; GTS has restrictions of certain mythical/rare Pokemon like that.

Assuming you mean Global Trading Station, almost every event Pokemon cannot be traded legitimately since they have special ribbons that would have to be removed. This is why a lot of events look perfectly fine until you see that it's missing its ribbon, a clear indication of editing.

However, you can trade whatever you want in trades, regardless of whether it is hacked or not over both local and wifi/Internet/friend code. There aren't any restrictions on what you can trade, except for a couple of version exclusives mostly involving items. That being said, we don't permit knowingly trading hacks on this forum; I'm just saying that it's possible.

Unfortunately I have no idea about wonder trade, since I've never used it, so hopefully someone else can answer that part. So to answer your questions: correct, incorrect, correct.

So a Japanese girl wanted to trade with me on the PSS and so I did. We traded shinies for shinies, and I got a bunch of them. But after we traded I started worrying if maybe they were hacked, so I decided to check their summaries, and thought they looked kinda weird. They all had Faraway Place as their location, but I thought they also would say traveled through space and time or something like that. There are 5 of them so I'll just put them in a spoiler tag.

Edit: I can't get the spoiler tag to work...

Edit2: I just realised the blue pentagon means that the Pokémon was caught in Gen 6 games, and thus the Pokémon I received may as well have been caught in ORAS. Anyway, I still want to have them checked

@razor fire

Seems you figured it out but yes, if you have XY and the Pokemon are caught in ORAS, they appear as coming form "Faraway Place."

All of them look fine to me; seems like they're from chain fishing which is difficult but not impossible. (Man I wish I coulda traded with this girl, her OT is great and Shinies hahah.) Also don't worry about the dates; I live in Japan and have things tagged in the future since my DS is in Japanese time (and I have events that are dated one day after the event ended because of the same reason haha). Also the date/time can be changed and isn't a big deal.

Pretty sure it's a hack. The Manesh Arceus was distributed in multiple locations, and according to Bulbapedia does have a Classic Ribbon (but Serebii says Wishing Ribbon so I'm not really sure?!). More than that, this event is not listed as being able to be Shiny, and the only Shiny Arceus is the Japanese movie Arceus.

Hm, IV calc forced me to do the spread at 248 SpA / 8 SpD / 252 Spe; said SpD needed more than just 4 EVs in it. (Also, says Atk is 29-30.)

This isn't impossible, especially with TSV hatching and the ease of breeding flawless these days. Cloning is also possible so maybe they just wanted to give away a cool Pokemon? Nothing else strikes me as odd, but always be wary of GTS trades.

It looks like a Genesect event that's been used before. Flawless IVs aren't too big of a problem since RNGing was huge in 5th gen.
As for the extremespeed, I'm not sure but it may have been forgotten before it was transferred? I have no idea how move relearning works, but I think if it was removed in 5th gen then it wouldn't have access to it in 6th gen.

There are plenty of 5IV Volcanion around so that should be fine. English name is also not an issue as you can set your game to any language and whatever you receive will be in that language. In fact, I have a Japanese Y set to English and received my Volcanion on it. (You can see proof and examples in my trade thread.) Overall this looks fine.

I got a shiny event Genesect with an English name (the hasty nature, blaze kick, extreme speed one). Everything else about the event checks out just fine, and it even has the tag saying it came from Japan, but I was skeptical about the name being in English.

Not sure what you mean by putting "wonder traders" in Location Caught; that section should say where the Pokemon was caught/hatched (and where the egg was obtained if it was hatched). Otherwise looks fine.

There has never been any Shiny Eevee Egg event for Gen 6, so it's impossible to have one with "Fateful encounter" tag.

They seems legal! And you should not be worried about the Volcanion date, it is in the period of distribution. Regardless, weird dates are irrelevant, some preople prefer to redeem their events in odd dates to make sure that it will not match the Power Save release.

Volcanion's date is not within the distribution period, actually, but it sometimes happens that dates register as before or after the actual date it is redeemed (had this happen downloading Manaphy on my US game/console in Japan). Just wanted to clarify. These look really iffy to me but most of the data matches so they're fine.

No, 20043 is the correct ID; Serebii's data may have been mixed up with other events of the time, or it could be from another in-life event (though I see no record of this). I had the bonus disk at the time and all my Jirachis have that ID.

Assuming you got this in a trade tho, be wary that in 3rd Gen, flawless spreads were restricted to certain natures only (I think Serious is one of them but can't seem to find the list). It might be worth it to check the IVs just in case, but otherwise nothing stands out.

Looks fine to me. They were probably trading away breedjects too, and this one was sent off because she doesn't have her HA. (I'm not much of a breeder but I think that happens sometimes, as you can't always guarantee a certain ability is passed down?)

Looks fine! Breeding for IVs is super easy, and people trade off 5IV Pokemon all the time (even in WT) so it's nothing to be too worried about.

"Fateful Encounter" is only for Event Pokemon and there have been no Gligar events since 3rd Gen so no, it's a hack. Also for future reference:

- It's too low leveled to really know the IVs but Serebii's calc says it could have 31s across the board, plush Shinyness plus from the GTS is a red flag.
- "Faraway Place" shows up if the location is ORAS and yer viewing it XY, as ORAS location data isn't programmed into XY.

Ponyta itself is legit, the Masterball was probably Action Replay'd into the bag and used to catch it. Latios is harder. While everything seems legit, it can be obtained with some heavy soft resetting. Are there 252 EVs in all three stats? Because that's not even codeable into the game, I think. Ponyta is okay, Latios is iffy. Most likely legit but better safe than sorry.

As long as both of them are not full then it's fine, but anything like that from WonderTrade is iffy.

Wondering if you meant Scatterbug as Spewpa can't be caught in the wild. Looks fine otherwise.

Yes please! I would really like to get the two shiny Rowlets I got from GTS checked out. They both look okay, but the fact one of them was holding a Masterball and asking for a Mudsdale of all mons was kinda sketchy.

The Plat event Darkrai must say "fateful encounter." That one is likely from DP; Darkrai was programmed into the game so if you could get to the island it's not a "hacked" Pokemon, but you have to hack to get to the island which is basically the same.

tl;dr all legit Plat event Darkrai (same with Shaymin) must have the "fateful encounter" tag.

Matches all the data for Shokotan Pikachu-colored Pichu from 4th Gen (down to the locked nature), and no strange IVs. As long as it has the JPN language tag I think it's fine!

the groudon imo is hacked for sure I use to rng and I know for one thing is that I would never rng a hardy nature for it plus I not the best expert on 3rd gen rngs but most groudon are hacked I was told when I use to chat in the box on pokecheck. I wouldn't trust it which I pretty sure 6iv spreads on rse are not possible...I believe the milotic is hacked as well because 6iv...if anyone rnged on 3rd gen please correct me if I am wrong...

Any other notes?: Its name is ENG, but its origin is JPN. When I checked the event database, the only thing I was able to find is that there was a 3rd gen Japanese event released for Ruby/Sapphire involving a Wish Bagon. Seems to be one of those events where you receive an egg and hatch it. But here's the thing... I'm not familiar with how RNG abuse worked in 3rd gen, so I'm a little skeptical with the IV spread + nature. If anyone with that kind of knowledge can clarify this, it'd be much appreciated!

(Note: Blue Pentagon refers to the marking meaning its XYORAS native. In this case it should not have the pentagon, but rather a plus indicating it is Alola native.)

While SOS chaining could guarantee you up to a 4IV Pokemon, the leap to 6IV is still super unlikely. Hatched Pokemon will always have an "Egg Obtained" and "Egg Hatched" location assuming it is Alola native (Pokemon transferred through bank only say "Traveled across space and time to reach you from the X region" or so.) It seems like it was "chained" and caught on Route 8, which 95% of the time means hack.

tl;dr not bred so likely hack.

I guess the thing I'm more wary about is the OT. When I googled the IDno, 62971 belonged to an OT named Mat, and they're apparently a well-known RNG abuser in Smogon... but this one has a different OT. Should I probably assume this one is hacked?

im not finding much information on that ot name nor the id# of the pokemon's trainer but yes you can rng abuse manaphy to unlock its lock on being shiny by rnging the ivs on the egg and transferring it to another 4th gen game but its a bit tricky never got to try it yet which I still have a egg waiting from a ranger game. However, I find that everything checks out legally to me so as of right now I find it fine but I can't really tell if it was hacked 100% or not do to pokecheck was taken down after 6th gen xy came out on the 3ds. If this person did hack it they did a good job of not making it super noticeable just looking at it at least if pokecheck was back up depositing that little guy would seal the deal to checking it more in depth so I can see the sid and the id and see if it matches the seed...

Adding on to FairyWitch's reply, I agree that this just seems like an RNG Pokemon Ranger egg Manaphy. Flawless spreads on 4th Gen Pokemon are tricky because they're only available for 4 natures, but I think Timid is one of them so that's fine. I'd give it a pass!

Celebi is automatically a hack because no Shiny Celebi is legit.

I'm not sure if it's true or not but if you powersave a legit pokemon to have ribbons(nonevent or impossible ribbons mind you) is it hacked or still legit?

To give you a real response, any sort of altering with Powersaves is considered hacking, even if you change something about a legit Pokemon. The rules here and on most forums would ban such a Pokemon and in turn get you in trouble as well.

Meant to reply to this awhile ago, whoops. xD Yeah, I checked; Timid is one of the possible natures to RNG abuse for flawless spreads in 4th gen. Awesome, I can safely use one of these sometime~

---

Okay, one last hack-check request for now. ^^; Sorry about this, I want to get another quick clarification, haha. I meant to get this checked a long time ago before raising it, but I forgot.

Pokemon Species: Jirachi
Pokemon Gender: Genderless
Nickname: Jirachi
OT: たなばた (Japanese)
IDno: 08014
Shiny?: Yes
EV's: 252 HP / 4 SpAtk / 252 Speed
IV's: Flawless
Nature: Timid
Characteristic: Mischeivous.
Ability: Serene Grace

Level Caught at: 10
Current Level: 100
Stats: 404 HP / 212 Atk / 236 Def / 237 SpAtk / 236 SpDef / 328 Speed
Location Caught: PC Tohoku (Note: Apparently a fateful encounter.)
Date Met: 8/1/2014
Egg?: No.
Pokeball Caught In: Cherish Ball
Ribbons: Hoenn Champion Ribbon, Kalos Champion Ribbon, Classic Ribbon
Blue Pentagon? (yes/no): Yes.

Any other notes?: If I'm reading this right, I think this is one of the Tanabata event Jirachis? And especially the first shiny Jirachi event distribution, at that? Although when I first got one of these, it was untouched at level 10 before I raised it. In addition, its name was in English as opposed to Japanese. From my understanding, region-locked events are a thing. But considering how 6th gen became the first generation games released with language options, is it possible to play the game in English on a Japanese 3DS? That's one thing I'm wondering about. The other thing I'm worried about is the flawless IV spread... xD

(sorry this isn't about 6th gen but there isn't a hack-check thread in the 7th gen forum yet)

I have a question. I got a shiny Popplio on the GTS a while back and I always had no doubt it was legit since it had a mediocre nature and average IVs, none of which were maxed out. overall nothing looked suspicious. I raised him to lv 100 and hyper trained him, but before I try using him online, I was wondering something. Is it possible for hackers to take a perfectly legit pokemon and make it shiny while everything else stays the same? it seems like it could be a way for hackers to get whatever pokemon they want from the GTS by making a bunch of shinies out of random hatchlings. I don't know if I'm worrying for nothing or not o.O
Here are the details of the Popplio as it was when I got it if anyone wanted to know.

Pokemon Species: Popplio
Pokemon Gender: male
Nickname: none
OT: Naga (in hiragana)
IDno: 088031
Shiny?: Yes
EV's: none
IV's: hard to tell as none are 31 or 0.
Nature: Sassy
Characteristic: Likes to fight
Ability: Torrent
Moves: Pound, Water Gun
Level Caught at: egg hatched
Current Level: 1 (when I got it)
Stats: don't remember. your average level 1 stats.
Location Caught: Paniola Ranch
Date Met: 11/28/2016
Egg?: yes
Pokeball Caught In: Poke Ball
Ribbons: none
Blue Pentagon? (yes/no): no
Any other notes?: not really

I just mainly want to know if pokemon can be turned shiny by hacking. Thanks in advance!

any pokemon can be hacked shiny no matter what game you play in pokemon minus the versions that are non shiny games like red, blue and yellow...as of right now the popplio looks alright but tbh its really hard to tell in this game until you use it in a official tournament sadly unless its in a illegal ball or catched in the wild when it can't be :/ I wouldn't trust shinies off the gts but that is just me however there are a few rare people out there are generous...

So legit pokemon can be TURNED shiny by hacking? :o that's worrisome... x.x see, what I was thinking was that someone might've been preparing some parents to MM, and got a random shiny with the wrong nature and no max IVs, so they decided to give it away because they were going to get a better one anyway. xD maybe, right? someone on the shiny thread said that the person might not have noticed it was shiny, especially if they were new to the game, because Popplio barely changes color. I usually don't trust GTS/WT shinies either, but whenever I end up with one, they're usually like lv 100 6IV fully EV trained holding an item so I just release them. Even though I still have high hopes that this Primarina is safe, I wouldn't use it in official competitions anyway because of the speed-lowering nature. Thanks for the input! :D

everything checks out as a simple wild rng from black and white or black and white two which you can rng flawless mons in the wild in both games, so it checks and for future reference flawless spread with all 31 is hp dark :)

so this Diancie is legit right??

It looks fine at first glance but you mentioned that it doesn't have the blue pentagon. If it doesn't have that then it's a definite hack but if it does I'd say it's legit as it doesn't have any glaring red flags like 6IVs or a missing ribbon, and the ID and OT match the shiny Diancie on the event Dex.

EDIT: Note that if the Pokemon is in Sun and Moon then the blue pentagon will be black instead.

I did a search to see if the Palossand OT was a streamer or something, and I actually found pics of one posted by a user with a similar name on Instagram (http://www.imgrum.org/media/1440912878580079511_4528529623), but that one is in Luxury Ball, not Dusk (and says it's an SOS chain, not bred). The IVs come out as flawless (EVs are 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spd), but it could be Hyper Trained so I'm not sure, you'd have to check that yourself. As for Porygon, Searching for it's OT didn't bring anything up. I didn't bother to check the IVs cuz of HT.

The short answer is WT Shinies can never really be trusted, especially if they are competitive like these seem to be. Check the IVs to see if they are actually competitive (or just Hyper Trained; the IV checker will tell you). Even though I think these look okay, I would recommend telling people they're from WT if you plan to trade them, or to not trade them at all.

Except this Pokemon is 6IV with no EVs. Coming from the GTS like that and at Lv. 100 is a pretty good indication of a hack. At the very last would recommend not trading it around.

Since TikTok provided the Pokemon's nature/characteristic/stats, I used Serebii's IV calculator to check. The nice thing about their calc is that it can detect when the values are wrong, allowing you to figure out where the EVs might be with some fiddling. At Lv. 100 it knows where the EVs should be down to a T, so you can find the exact spread. I put in the stats and it came back with no issues (so no EVs missing, meaning it had none) and every value was 31. These pics TikTok posted show that yes, it clearly has no EVs. Yet, the calculator came back with 31s across the board.

95% of the time, people hack awesome Shinies like this to trade on the GTS, so again, making the same call I did before.

I put in the stats and it came back with no issues (so no EVs missing, meaning it had none) and every value was 31. These pics TikTok posted show that yes, it clearly has no EVs. Yet, the calculator came back with 31s across the board.

95% of the time, people hack awesome Shinies like this to trade on the GTS, so again, making the same call I did before.

ahhh yeah tbh i would say 100% hacking awesome shinies XD but i get ya but i never really thought i would be legal anyway tbh since it was wonder traded but that makes since using the calculator good call :)

@Satoshi & Touko: that looks like a normal catched ditto with random ivs on it so i think its alright which i plugged in it the calculator just now...

Something is wrong with the stats so I can't calculate IVs, but it doesn't have an 31s anyway. Are all the ribbons like, Champion ribbons or something? Make sure it has no event ribbons. Otherwise it just looks like a meh Shiny RNGed in SoulSilver. As usual though, always be wary of GTS/WT Shinies.

i have to agree with road on this one this does look very odd, i placed it in on showdown with 31 ivs and the stats don't match up at all well which i highly doubt it legal do to there are spreads that don't exist in that game with nature combos plus on top of it there are specific ids for it to be shiny when you rng on 4th gen...I wouldn't trust shinies from the gts...if i had access to my reporter again as well as pokecheck i would be 100% if it was a hack or not...

Googling the OT/ID brought up a listing on Reddit of a Roserade (different one, was Modest with 5IV). The poster had it in a list of stuff he said came from "other Shiny Hunters," so maybe it checks out. Can't be sure tho.
Assuming this is Shiny? And which region did it come from? If from Unova it might be fine, RNG made this sort of thing easy enough so it might be fine.

As usual though, GTS Shinies are not to be trusted, so I would recommend not trading around unless someone else can give more info.

PPorg is suspicious as that is the site that created Pokegen, an older hacking software, but I'm not finding much proof of the OT being suspicious so it's probably fine. (This seems like a DW Mudkip which had the OT/ID of whoever received it. Japan-only promo but the OT style matches.)

As for the language issue, I'm assuming the OT looks like PPorg, the nickname is in normal English characters (Mud rather than Mud), and it has the JPN language tag. If that is the case, that is not possible (characters must match for OT and nickname, which they don't here cuz Japanese games don't have half-width alphanumeric characters) and therefore is a hack.

Oh. I wasn't familiar with the P P o r g tag since I'm used to seeing PkHeX on hacked pokemon instead.

Throwing this one out then.

Is it possible to catch this event mudkip under an American OT and give it a nickname in english?

Probably a safe measure just in case. Nothing else looks out of the ordinary bar the language issue.

Not really. The Hoenn Starter DW promotion was Japan-only, and 5th gen games didn't have a language option, so anything received on those games will be all Japanese. (The Asian games do have the full-width alphanumeric letters, but they are not the same as the half-width kind found on the Western games so they can be easily told apart.) Technically you CAN give it a nickname in English, it's just gonna be those full-width characters (and you are limited to 5 letters due to the character limits of Asian games in that gen). Nevertheless, in this case the Pokemon would still have the JPN language tag.

IV spread is difficult to get but not impossible. Don't know if the met location matches since I can't find a translation for that, but it all seems to mach the information listed for the event (https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/List_of_American_region_Nintendo_Network_event_Pok %C3%A9mon_distributions_in_Generation_VI#Jirachi). Check that link to make sure the ribbon matches and it should be fine.

Thank you! I wasn't sure because Jirachi's IV spreads were a tad too high for a pokemon that should be distributed with only 3V guaranteed, and with only attack and speed (the exact stats most needed for jolly nature) not 31.

Again, it is odd but not impossible; I've seen and even SRed plenty of similar spreads. RNG for 6th Gen is also possible so it could've been obtained that way. Since you got it in direct trades and everything else matches up (also it's a common event that anyone could download), it should be fine. If you're really worried don't trade it around, or at least give a disclaimer.

RNG manipulation can give something like that, and it wouldn't be all that hard with 3 guaranteed ivs.
