Hi, I'm pretty new at spriting and I was wondering if anyone wouldn't mind critiquing my fusions.

You need to make these smaller to get any real critic.
Other than that, most of these look pretty good(Other than the fact that they're mostly c+p). Try scratching more, it'll make them look alot better if you get good at it. I like the Lucario-Infernape one alot.

Ok, thanks. Sorry I'm new, what does "scratching" mean. Thank you in advance.

Haha don't be sorry. Scratching is when you sprite something from scratch. Like instead of copying an Umbreon ear and putting it on Lucario, you could simply sprite it yourself. It helps the sprite flow together and make it look better.

Oh, ok cool thanks. I'll try it.

I personally think the shuckle is much better. What do you think?

Im not really diggin Shuckles colors. Maybe wat you can do with that is redo the head and neck so it looks like fur and scratch the Absols head more in the middle it still kinda looks scratched even though it prolly isnt. Also try working with the whites shading. The flame Zoroark flame doesnt really flow try using the line that curves it makes it alot easier. Don't worry scratching takes alot of practice you will eventually get it down.

Ok, thanks for the advice. I'll try it. ps the head thing is scratched if you zoom in on shuckle and compare it to a non scratch one you can tell.

This is my newest fusion with scratch parts. Also, I have a question. How do I make something look like it's furry?

Any Comments?

The new one looks much better! There's a weird black outline on this one though. Also, on non-black sprites you can't have a full black outline. find the darkest color of that palette and add it to the highlight outline places. I don't know if your following me here.

Look at other pokemon that have fur like Zoroark or Stoutland. Your will eventually get the concept.

First, and most importantly, save as .png. Some of your sprites looks fuzzy (NOT furry) and that makes me think they are .jpg. Not good.
The sprites, ignoring fuzziness, are OK. Maybe a bit copy-paste but that has already been adressed, I see.
I have atip for you mean scratching a part. Have the ACTUAL part (ie, Infernapes head flame) and have it nearby. Lookign at, try to aim for sorta the same thing, but altered slightly to fit the bill.

Ok, thanks for all of the advice and I'll try again and hopefully get a little better.

How do you like it? edit: p.s. I couldn't completely get rid of the border, I don't know why but it wouldn't erase.

You can't erase it because it is saved as a .JPG. I hate to give C+C to .JPG images but I might as well.

There isn't much that stands out on that fusion. All I see is a recoloured Arbok with an added black spike out of one side. It is very C+P and needs some more work. The split between the two needs to be better. With 2 sprite fusions, people usually go for a 40/60, 50/50 or 60/40 split depending on what they were attempting. Your image is more like 10/90 in the relationship Arbok/Absol.

Remember: SAVE AS .PNG

Three things
1) There was no C + P at all ( unless you count the starting arbok sprite )
2) I did save a .png but I don't know what's wrong
3) I will keep you advice about 50/50 split in mind, thank you for the advice.

P.S.: Don't make the resizing mistake I did, don't resize it will make it look weird, anyways Azurichu need some work in the part where the tail connects to the body

Ah, ok cool I thought the stuff looked odd when I resized it, I was waiting to see if it was just me or if others saw it to. Thanks for that.

Hmm, my first post in ages... Hope it's put to good use ^^;

I noticed that all of the sprites are saved as JPEG. Never a good idea, it completely destroys the quality of the sprite. Remember to always save as PNG or BMP, the quality is still the same and it just plain looks better. For transparency use IAZA, (iaza.com) and to reupload the sprites (they only stay on iaza's database for 30 days, then they disappear) at somewhere like photobucket or imageshack, depending on if you want to sign up or not.

With the last ones that you uploaded that you said were saved as PNG, are you sure? Check that, and if so, which image host do you use? It could be that, or the quality of the sprites that you used. Only ever take sprites that are saved as PNG or BMP, a good place to use is TSR. (spriters-resource.com)

Anyway, onto the actual sprites. Don't resize thing, ever. They just get pixellated and wreck the quality of the sprite. If something needs to be bigger, the either scratch or edit the piece to make it larger. But you don't really need to worry about that too much yet, most sprites are a similar size anyway. When you add parts to a sprite you don't have to scratch the entire part, just scratch around it to make it look smooth and blend into the other parts by adding things like shading and making the joint look seamless. I'd recommend starting out simple, but using more than just one part of each pokemon. Another good idea is to add the markings of the pokemon.

(Oh yeah, as a side note which zoroark sprite did you use for the fire splice? It doesn't look like the official one)
