A New Week, A New Contest!

Theme: 0956
Medium: Retype
Size: 96x96

Reposted due to typo in title.

I was busy trying to think of something witty, cool, or profound, when my Siamese sat on my keyboard. So according to him, the theme is 0956.

For this week, pick any Pokemon with at least one of the four numbers (0956) in the last two digits of their National dex number. Retype it to the type of the next Pokemon after it that isn't of the same evolution line or the same type. If that means a dual type, you can choose which type. Also, for example, Bulbasaur is considered 1 not 001, so it is invalid.

Hopefully that all makes sense ^^ Note: Since nobody had entered yet, figured it wasn't too late to add the adjustment in italics suggested by Alder, forgot there were so many XD

Would this count?

Nobody has said that this is wrong, so I guess it counts as my entry. It's quilava (#156) retyped as a water type (because after typhlosion it's totodile). I decided to make them look kinda like buizel (they're pretty similar) and (amazingly) managed to scratch the rubber ring thingy that's around its head, and the tuft of hair thingy on its head.

Here's my entry, Beautifly retyped as Lotad's Water/Grass.

~Ayra~;267;

If they go similar to my standards, that wouldn't count as a retype. That would count as a palette swap. You have to change certain characteristics (not counting colors) to make it more of the other type.

Also, I call Ice-Reuinclus! I got misunderstood. Have to restart (:@).

I'll update this post later.

My entry is a Ghost type Castform. The hands obviously come from Haunter, tail + floating eyes scratched, colors from Skuntank. Castform's number is #351 and the next pokemon is Kecleon which is invalid, then it is Shuppet c:

Golem is 76 and the one after it is ponyta, which is a fire type.

Hopefully I've done this right.

Bellsprout is #069 (Heehee :P ) and Tentacool is right after.

Just so you know what everything is on it.
The body is bubbles, the head now has a snorkel and the feet are now a propeller.

Should've given it googles. :/

Everyone remember, unless otherwise specified, there are no glows.

If that means a dual type, you can choose which type.

So that mean we can only re type to one type, or can we do both types? :<

Retype week? (Gets to spriting)

One question though. When recoloring, can you borrow colors from a photo or a Pokemon's official art? If so, do you have to specify that you did so when posting your entry? (I guess this applies to most weeks, but I just now thought of it.)

The WSC doesn't accept entried that are in hyperlinks. When you upload an image to *******, it gives you a couple of text lines; these are coding snippets to make your image appear on webpages. Use the one with [IMG] at the beginning and the end, and simply copy and paste into the post.

Also, your entry seems to be more of a fusion, though I suppose it could pass as a retype. Just to let you know, you're not limited to using only parts from one Pokemon; anything that would make Combusken a Water type is acceptable.

Also, I'm really happy that my suggestion was taken into consideration, though i have no idea why. It's just a small joy to be mentioned in the first post of a WSC.

Finally, allaboutthecute, since it isn't a fusion, I would say that pretty much any colors are available for use. For the Brain-Melting Orange week, people used actual pictures of oranges.

I didn't know that. Thanks for answering (although I decided not to use a picture).

Okay, I finally found something appropriate for the theme. Working on it right now. Will edit post later. :)

Edit: Here it is, an Exploud (Number 295) as a Fighting type, which is Makuhita's type.

Finally, I'm entering one of these! It's been forever since I sprited anything at all, but I think I did alright.

http://i55.*******.com/2iaq3r8.gif
Piplup = 393. Next in line is Starly, and I was going for Flying...but with a Retype, it can't have the original type, so it went in more of a Normal/Flying direction...which is like the same thing, either way it's Starly.

Finding an idea was hard, I kept coming up with Normal, Rock, and Grass retypes, which are just too complex for me. This was nice and relaxing as I ease back into spriting.

Yeah, just pick one. As it's difficult to find many places where you could use a double type, only choosing one keeps the playing field even.

Retype week? (Gets to spriting)

Depends on what the week specifies, but for this week there's no problems with you using other colours as it's a retype, not a fusion or anything.

Also, I'm really happy that my suggestion was taken into consideration, though i have no idea why
I had forgotten there were so many Pokemon that using 5 and 6 would include XD Didn't click that there are now hundreds. Having all of them included would take away the challenge really, so it was a good point. Was trying to think of something to fit with the theme my cat typed more than anything ^^

Ah, is this because of your postcount? That's fine man, if you enter in the future and have the same problem, post the direct link to the image. That way all Sweet May has to do for the polls is add img tags, and I'm perfectly able to click the link to make sure it works =)

Happy to help :P This is easily the most interesting retype week I've ever seen, so props to you!

Anyway, if mine turned out to be more Normal/Flying, is that acceptable? It's kinda hard to do just Flying...and Normal come to think of it

Croconaw is #159. Since Feraligatr is invalid, I skipped it, so Sentret (Normal) is the next option:

Parts scratched is always okay. The WSC is primarily to help people hone their skills, and scratching is the most important one. Other than recolors and pixel-overs, scratching is encouraged.

I see, sorry about that. So here's a question. A retype for this week is just making a Poke look like the type of the Pokemon after it, and if that's so, I'm not sure if a fusion with that Poke is okay, since it's not a fusion week. I know it's just to make the Poke look more like the type of the Poke, but making it look exactly like the Poke after it, I'm not so sure about.

I should say some of these are more fusions than retypes, so yeah, I'm going to notify people and give them time to fix their sprites. This contest will remain open until it's been open for a full week.

For whoever it was before who asked about scratching parts, that's perfectly fine. Not sure how you'd do it without XD
