Discuss the new Trainer Customization feature of Pokémon X & Y here. You may also post pictures of your trainers here.

All posts should be constructive and contain ideas, support/elaborate their ideas, and must contribute to the discussions and/or on-going arguments. One-liner posts such as "I agree.", "I want [this] to be in the game!", "This sucks!" will all be considered spam and will be deleted.

I hope the customization stuff has the options to make your trainer look more like a type specialist. Like, allowing you to get a bug catcher hat, or whatever it is that Psychics wear. That would make monotype runs so much more fun.

Yes, that would be cool.

I saw a picture (from Josh I think) where he was in the PokemonCenter and looked what you can do in the ClothingShop (or whatever it is called)...

There was something like "Skin treatments" (Idk for sure) listed... What is that for? Can we have different skin tones other than the 3 you pick at the beginning? (I think it's unfair that there is the palest white skin ever but not something dark-brown/blackish)
--
Also, do we know if we can get tops like Tierno's? With a Pokemon picture? :)

If girls can wear pants, can the male protagonist go Scottish? And we can ask more on face paint while we're at it.

I really wanna dress up like that Watchog trainer in Best Wishes, hehe. But I doubt that's possible.

I just hope there's a huge variety of stuff, especially things with Pokémon on it.

So, first we take their Money, and then we take their clothes? Let's hope we can take their Pokémon next Gen. Hehe.

I just hope I can have one piece of clothing for each Pokémon in my team. That would be awesome~

I'd love to travel around with a Looker coat or a Doctor's coat. That would be fun to have on in a Pokemon playthrough.

I hope customization has the outfits from the previous game protagonists. I'm sure a lot of people would love having their character look like Red.

I just hope for a HUGE amount of items. 100+ hats 100+ Shirts and 100+ of everything else! And well, maybe color selection; I really like Xavier's jacket, but I would love it if it were a live-red like Yvonne's skirt... So, let us choose the color scheme.

I am hoping that we can get access to designs of the old player characters. I'm also wondering if they may try and sell DLCs of attires inspired by just about anything, from Ash/Brock's outfits to Pokemon costumes.

The won't be doing any selling of DLCS because I believe masude said there won't be any Paid DLC's. Though they could do this for free ones.

I can honestly see my avatar staying with her default hair. It seems like in a lot of games with character customization, I'm looking for that loose and long hairstyle, but they never seem to have it. I'm rather happy that it's the default.

We've known about having beanies since PSS was revealed it July

And having a hat, or headgear of some kind, is required protagonist attire.

I'm talking about hipster beanies. ;) nah. I'm happy we have beanies regardless. Besides, not wearing a headgear of some kind doesn't make you any less protagonist.

I saw a couple of different trainers, 2 boys and a girl, with no hats. Someone commented that it might have something to do with the hairstyle you pick, like there are ones with no hats and ones with hats.

I'm playing through the game now (just done the 4th gym) and as of yet, I have to have headgear on, there is no option to remove it, only to replace one hat with another. As for the PSS pictures, you can change your PSS profile, either by using an image provided (there are several choices) or use your characters face.

Are the hair color options generic (blond, black, etc.) or can we change the color to anything we want? 'Cause I wanted my character to have hot pink hair but I'm not sure if that's possible.

I'm crying. I wanted vivid and dynamic color choices but I guess that was too much to ask for. Ugh, I guess I'll go for blonde hair color for the female character. I was tempted to pick the male character for the facial hair feature, but I could see that getting old really fast so I'll stick with the female.

I think he/she means that all we've seen so far was skirts, dresses, feminine clothes and that he/she only wants some common clothes, such as a normal T-Shirt and normal pants.

While I don't like to wear feminine clothing, I don't find it wrong for others, it's just not my style.

So I am really hoping girls have the option of wearing regular t-shirts and regular shorts and jeans.
Cause I want this game to reflect who I am, a HUGE tomboy (then my Y version will have a really cool looking guy). I mean, that's what Game Freak was going for, right?

Just a quick question- can we change our hairstyle or not? I thought I read where we could, but then I saw someone post where we could not remove our PCs hat. It seems odd to be able to style your hair if you are going to hide the majority of it underneath a cap, but I of course would love to be able to do so! I prefer shorter hair than what the character has to start off with.

I thought they said you had to remove your hat at home . . . . . . if that doesn't work you can always go inside the Pokecenter and remove it. The hats are a separate form of style and not tied with the hair. You have to remove the glasses and the hat . . . . or so I am told.

I agree with the sentiment that they should let you get costumes to match in game NPC's IE: Schoolboy, Ninja,Ace Trainer etc.

Hm, I thought we could change our hair color and eye color.

I'm currently a bit after the first badge and can tell you the following:
There are 4 hair styles (on the back of the head) for female: long(you start with long if you choose the middle pre-set), medium, bobbed and short.
5 hair colors: black, dark brown, light brown, orange, blonde.
2 styles for the front: bangs, parted.
So far. Maybe there will be more barbers in other towns with other options.

I also got a contact lens case which can change the eye color: Brown, Hazel, Green, Blue at the moment.

I'd actually like to know about the options for the bags you carry. I've seen screenshots with different bags for the female player character, but they all appear to be the same or very similar purse-style bag type. Like others in this thread, I'd much prefer a tomboyish and/or geeky female character, so I'd love to ditch the purse for a messenger bag or backpack, or virtually anything else. Does anyone have any information on that?

(Also only tangentially related but someone please tell me they didn't color code parts of the UI according to player character gender this time...)

So hat removal is possible, but no one seems to know how?

Does anyone know if we can change our skin color? The darker skinned character is too dark, but the white ones are way too pale. I'd like my character to look like me (Part Native American), but I need kind of an in-between color for that.

Yep. The options are: Short, Bobbed, Medium & Long. And you also have the option of styling the front of your hair with either Bangs or Sideswept.
I just went to the Salon to see how short the 'Short' option was, and yeah, it's quite short :) about ear length. Like a pixie cut.

Editing just to say I'm not sure if more options will be available as you progress further in the game, but this is what is available so far :) *for the female character*

My personal choices would be replace the hat with a bandana, like the MC from the GBC's Pokemon Card Game had, the jacket worn by the male MC in Heart Gold and Sould Silver, and the pants worn by the male MC in Emerald. Of course, being able to change their colors as well would be nice to add my to my stile of clothing color choices.

To everyone wondering how to unlock the boutique in Lumiose City - I haven't done anything from the things mentioned above (restaurants, etc. - just did a PR video) and the boutique opened after I defeated Lumiose's gym.

As for the facial hair/freckles - sadly, I believe it is only temporary for the PR videos.

For the boss thing, I am kind of guessing you'd have to dress in the punk style. I noticed that various clothing items have different backgrounds, which would mean they're from different collections, and when I dress up in some clothes, I get different jingles and sparkles when it shows my trainer. There are probably styles like elegant, cute, etc. Just a guess.

I have a question myself, though - how do you unlock more hairstyles? I saw a girl with ponytails in the PSS. Does it unlock after E4? If so, I'll let you guys know, I am currently on the last badge. Will also try to confirm if you can take your hat off. You don't have to dress in any specific way.

Don't know if it had to do with Sushi; translated from Spanish, it's called the 'Caffe-On--Wheels' or something.
You could take taxis to all the possible caffes, if you haave the money to spare.

But it may be something else entirely; I know that the bouncer was blocking me, I went and spoke to a skater on the on the street, and one in the above-mentioned caffe, and then went back to the Lost Hotel to be allowed in.

The access to lumiose city it's not set by your clothes but by the amount of buildings you visit there. I visited some coffees, battled in some restaurants and with street people and somehow managed to get there. Also did a video (via manual edit)

I'm not really looking for a way to get in. What I'm looking for are pictures (preferred) or descriptions of the clothes that you can buy as a male character in that store. I've read somewhere that girls get a trench coat so I was wondering what type of clothes can you buy as a male character.
Opened button just like the ones with stripes, but without stripes, from what i found, flannel version and black version, flannel pants, vinyl pants, shoes (real shoes), fedoras and a nice full black bag. Bought one of those shirts in black and the back

Anyone knowns how to unlock long hair for males?

I've beaten the Champion and still can't get into the Lumiose boutique, so it might require some kind of postgame stuff to get in. :/

If my way doesn't work, add working in the hotel to it.

I'll try that, after I saw your post I went into every cafe I could find and still can't get in. :P I haven't been to the hotel yet though.

EDIT: After working at the hotel and battling at Restaurant le Nah and Restaurant le Yeah I can now get into the boutique. :)

Question for folks who have the game: are there any customization options to make your character look more like a type specialist? I mean, can I make my dude (or lady) look like a Ghost type trainer or a Fire type trainer or something?

Hey I don't have the game yet but I want to know; How extensive is the customization? Is it just a backs outfit or do you get to completely 'create' your personal avatar?

Do you have to complete the conditions in the restaurants too?

Aurium

me and several of my friends have been experimenting trying to get into the boutique and these are the only conditions that you need to meet.
1.) complete battles at cafe le nah and cafe le yeah. you must complete all three different battle types.
2.) complete all three jobs at the hotel.

these are also things that you might or might not need:
1) make a pr video and obtain lens case

NOTE: your clothing does not matter for entrance into the store

Actually I only did one battle at each restaurant and one job at the hotel and I got let in.

After I did this 2 things I could enter the Boutique:
- Change my hair color and hairstyle
- Change my eye color (you can find the lens case in the PR video building)

They let me enter saying I was very stylish!

Does anyone know about the Lumiose Boutique discount coupon? Those prices are pretty nuts for each clothing piece (especially the trench coat...)

Dragoniss
14th October 2013, 6:08 AM
Hmm, maybe it has to do with the amount of stuff you do that day perhaps?

Either way now i'm curious about that coupon. I was able to get a shirt and i'm saving for shoes and a bag [ff who needs healing items and pokeballs.]

The boutiques have different arrangements of clothes, hats, and bags that you can buy per day.

Finally got let into the boutique in Lumiose after going to Restaurant Le Nah. First floor is for girls and the second floor is all guys.

I just figured that the Lumiose Boutique was a post-game thing like one of the restaurants that requires you to be the Champion to be able to enter - I got let in upon becoming champion so I guess there's just multiple triggers.

I may be wrong, but at least it seems easier to save up money this gen. I'm only at the 5th gym, but I still have plenty after buying lots of healing items. This is great,as I'll be able to do more customisations.

This thread might know a bit more than the help thread who plain said not possible:
How can you remove the hat?

I've seen people in Passerby & Acquaintance on PSS without a hat, and it didn't look like a particular character or any costume sort of thing.

That shop has a total of X items. And they can only expose 5, which will be what they sell. When you buy all these 5, they all restock. Or if you buy one, that one restocks

Keep changing your hair. You unlock more the more times you change it. Sometimes if the stylist thinks you're stylish enough she'll add another style.

I had a store change its items totally on day two of playing despite not buying any on day one, so maybe it'll change everyday?

I can only confirm that working at the hotel is required because that's the last thing I did before I was finally let in.

I got into the Boutique before I did the hotel thing, and the only thing I can think of that triggered it was becoming Champion.
It seems there are a bunch of triggers and it's not very clear what they all are.

It has nothing to do with what you wear. After the blackout, just visit a whole lotta places in Lumoise, go to the rotation/triple battle restaurant, etc. Then you'll be let in.

I believe the two additional styles unlock after defeating team Flare? Somewhere around that they unlocked for me.

Also! There is a guy in Kiloude City that gives you a special clothing item if you dress up in a way he needs (he needs a reference for a painting or something) and then talk to him. I got a dress that looks like a Slurpuff :) (I believe that guys get a Pangoro hat... I want that too :c )

I got into the boutique after I finished both of the 2-star restaurant challenge. I wasn't champion yet and I had up to the lumiose gym badge. Before that, did absolutely everything else I could possibly do in that city. I seriously hate going there now, but it was so worth it for my shirt! xD

Also, are there wigs in the game? I keep seeing people on passerby without a hat on, but they all have the same specific few hairstyles. (Mainly the Ace Trainer's hair-do and a couple others).
