The purpose of this thread is more or less to serve as a referrance for an RPG I hope will become amazing. It will be a lot of repetitive-ness of the rules and whatnot, but will also provide information for all classifications, such as trainer, breeder, coordinator, Team Rocket, and whatnot. It will also include a section about wild Pokemon and how they'll be caught. Members of this RP please read all of this, those who aren't, go to Sign-Ups and join, late ones are always welcome pending approval.

Classification Descriptions

Pokemon Trainer: Likely the most standard and understood of all of the "classes", Pokemon trainers are those who catch and well...train Pokemon to beat the eight Kanto Gym Leaders and become a legend by hitting it big in the Pokemon League. Pokemon trainers start with $10,000 (if you have the alt-code for money in PKMN god tell me), and ten Pokeballs.

Pokemon Coordinator: Coordinators specialize in a certain type of training, making their Pokemon appear and act either tough, beautiful, cute, smart, or cool. Their dream in life is to more or less compete in as many contests as possible and gain a massive display of Ribbons to be known by all. They start with $15,000 and two Pokeballs.

Pokemon Breeders: The name says it all, they breed their Pokemon, not using them in battles or competitions, at least not ever in the Anime. A new feature included in this RPG will be Breeder Tournaments, in which you should refer below. They are amazing Egg Hatchers and Pokesitters, and are often kind and outgoing. They start with $10,000 and five Pokeballs.

Team Rocket: Team Rocket members are nefarious and mysterious, sometimes even devious! They specialize in stealing Pokemon and their goal in life, or at least most of their's, is to impress their boss in which some of the members don't even know his name. Rocket members are different from other classifications, as they get a salary as opposed to payment, and salary is effected by rank. They start with five Pokeballs and the salary chart is as follows: Grunt/$500 per day, Operative/$1500 per day, Executive/$3500 per day, Administrator/$7500 per day, Elite/$15,000 per day. A grunt starts with $3000

Gym Trainers: Gym Trainers are the aspiring Leaders of the future, taking tutilage under a certain Gym Leader which matches their type specifications and learning the ways of the Gym Leader. Gym Trainers often switch from staying in the Gym and training the Pokemon they have, to venturing out to catch others. Sometimes, a generous Leader would reward a promising Gym Trainer with a Pokemon. If Gym Trainers are present at a Gym, they must be beaten to get to the Gym Leader. They are provided all the necessities, such as housing and food, so they have no need for money, and can acquire Pokeballs by asking their Gym Officials.

Gym Leaders: It is the Gym Leaders duty to test the current level of capability of a trainer, who is no doubt, seeking a journey to the Pokemon League. They bare an amazing responsibility on their back, but most manage to have fun while doing it. They are paid a salary of $100,000 a month by League Officials, which must be factioned out to the Gym Officials salary, food, and bills *shudder*. Gym Leaders always have a type-theme, as well as a themed Gym, which is completely up to the player. Leaders are allowed to venture near their gym to catch new Pokemon, but they must not journey far unless on Official League business.

Pokemon Rangers: The Pokemon Humane Society! They usually have fairly tough nature-like Pokemon and hardly will have a team of six. Their purpose is to assure that all wild Pokemon are not being mistreated by Humans or other Pokemon, keeping a balanced state. Some also go on to start Pokemon Reserves, like the Safari Zone, though this is much later in their lives. They tend to be hermits and move frequently. They recieve $15,000 a week from League Officials and start off with 10 Super Potions.

Team Valor: Team Valor members serve to counteract Team Rocket, much like Aqua did Magma and vice versa. However, they do not wish for world distruction but more world peace, protecting humans, Pokemon, and habitats (but only from Team Rocket, they could care less about freelancers.) Their Pokemon tend to be more of the graceful and loyal type as opposed to Dark or Poison. They recieve the same salary as Rocket members for their different ranks and start off with five Pokeballs. Team Valor Recruits start with $3000.

Monotype Specialist: Pretty self-explanitory. A Monotype Specialist is a trainer that specializes in using one type of Pokemon (IE: Misty and Water Types). This does not necessarily mean they want to begin their own gym later in life, just that they have a certain liking towards a single type of Pokemon. They are able to compete in Pokemon Battles, Special Tournaments (NEW!), and Contests. They MUST only have one type of Pokemon on their team. They begin with $8,000 and five Pokeballs.

Pokemon Maniac: Pokemon Maniacs tend to be older then trainers, but are almost exactly alike them in every way. The only difference is...they love rare Pokemon. They are the ONLY class that can start with a much more rare Pokemon then listed in the Starting Pokemon classification, and tend to catch Pokemon much more scarcely then normal trainers, always wanting rare and exotic types. Due to the rarity of "rare" Pokemon early in their journey, they likely go through at least four gyms before they catch their second. They start with $10,000 and 10 Pokeballs.

Battles/Contests/Tournaments, etc.
In this section you will find referrances to how certain functions will be roleplayed, and certain rules. A rule for all battles: NO AUTO-HITTING. Auto-Hitting is stating something like, "Cyndaquil use flamethower, wow, you one hit KO'd it!" Everything must be stated in variables, such as, "Cyndaquil use flamethrower!" The small fire Pokemon rears it's head and blasts a stream of flame at it's opponent's torso. See? I didn't say it hit, I said where it was aimed. The best way to describe this is to act as if the word ATTEMPT were in everything you commanded.

Pokemon Battles: A standard battle between Pokemon Trainers. They will declare the rules beforehand, as to how many Pokemon will overall be used, double or single battle, and any other specialities they wish. Battling will be somewhat like PASBL, with a health and energy factor. Some moves take much more energy then others, like Hyper Beam in comparison to Astonish; use your common sense. This is a happy roleplay, so there's no death, ever. After battles, the loser may choose to award the winner with Money or items, or exchange PokeNav Match Call numbers as to keep in touch; though it is solely up to the trainers.

Pokemon Contests: (Slightly edited since FlamingRuby's was more or less in list format). Pokemon Contests take place as stated. The first step is registration, in which a trainer must register the Pokemon they are using and which type of contest they'd like to register for. You may only register for one type of contest at a time. The types include Beauty, Tough, Cool, Cute, and Smart; and certain Pokemon do better in one contest then another. The first part to a Contest is the Trainer's Parade, in which every trainer will walk around the stage/arena with their Pokemon at their side, in which the audience will vote on which was their favorite. Next comes appeals, in which a Pokemon will perform certain tricks incorporated with their natural techniques to impress a panel of five judges, who's scores are somewhat affected by the crowd's reactions. Once a trainer collects a minimum of twenty-five ribbons by winning five at each contest hall, one in each category, they are eligable to compete in the Grand Festival which comes shortly after the Pokemon League at the Indigo Plateau.

Breeding Tournaments: Breeding Tournaments is a new feature solely created by me, at least I think so. Breeders will bring ONE Pokemon to the tournament with them, which will take place in a multitude of competitions. The first is an exercise routine, where the Pokemon must run on a treadmill, determining how healthy it has been raised. The second is Pokemon Battle which will last five turns, determining how well the Pokemon has been raised. Winning the battle is not always good. The third is a talent contest, a Breeder's Pokemon may have any talent from playing the flute to dancing to singing *though it will not lull the crowd to sleep*. This round will be judged by the audience. The final round is a runway contest, more or less the Breeders can dress and make-up their Pokemon to walk down a runway, or let their natural beauty work it's might. This is a test of grace as well as beauty. I will ALWAYS serve as the Judge for a Breeder Tournament, and they will be held on the third of every month. Those who wish to enter must PM me as if they were sending a letter to a Breeder Tournament Official.

Gym Leader/Trainer Matches: As previously stated Pokemon Trainers must defeat Gym Trainers before challenging the Gym Leaders. PM a Gym Leader BEFORE you enter their Gym to get details as to it's tricks or what it looks like, Koga for instance, WILL have invisible walls, and Sabrina, my character, won't have teleporters, but her Gym won't even have a door. If you do not PM a Gym Leader before entering their Gym, you will be rejected and ignored by the Leader and Gym Trainers until you have done so. Gym Leaders can reward anything from money, to a Pokemon Egg if they like you enough, to advice. However, should you win, they will ALWAYS provide you with a Badge.

Special Tournaments: A Special Tournament building exists in every town that has a gym (IE: Pewter, Cerulean, Vermillion, Celadon, etc.). These competitions happen once every three days in these towns, and every day is a different type tournament, testing the wits of the trainers whilst battling Pokemon of the same type as theirs. Trainers who acquire a sprite (explained later) in every one of these buildings are eligable for the Monotype League. Sprites are much like Gym Badges, they just display the type in which you are. Once eight are acquired, as mentioned, Monotype Trainers are eligable for the Monotype League.

Pokemon League: I would like to hold a Pokemon League once we get enough members who've won all eight badges. The Pokemon League will be held at the Indigo Plateau, as always, and will likely have 16-32 people competing in an elimination tournament. As we get more, and as people near having eight badges, I will further the details. Until then, just get people to join the RPG ;).

Monotype League: This is where all Monotype Trainers come to battle. It is one week before the Pokemon League starts and is likewise, held at the Indigo Plateau. Trainers must have extreme confidence in their Pokemon, as ALL Monotype Trainers will be here, making it possible for a Grass Monotype Trainer to go up against a Fire Monotype Trainer. The winner of the Monotype League IS GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO OPEN A GYM SHOULD THEY WANT. Further details will be mentioned upon the happening of this event.

Wild Pokemon

Wild Pokemon runs on two factors. The rarity of the Pokemon you wish to catch, and the likeliness of it being in the area you're currently in. You MUST PM me before catching a Pokemon, stating where you are to catch it and of course, what Pokemon it is. If you're approved, THEN you roleplay catching it (naturally, you'll have to battle it). If you're rejected, I'll tell you why. Simple as that, no? I'm sure I'm going to get a multitude of questions about this.

Surfing, Flying

Whee, controversial subjects. I'll start with flying, as it includes less elaboration. Only Pokemon with wings large enough to carry someone can fly, and it's only short distances. You can't very well ride on a Charizard from Lavendar Town to Pallet Town, simple as that. Also, Dodrio and Doduo CANNOT fly.

Surfing takes a bit more explination. Any water type Pokemon can surf, however, their size is a factor. We'll pit a surfing Lapras against a surfing Staryu. You can ride on the back of the Lapras, as it is large enough to carry someone, however, unless you're in a wetsuit and prepared to get soaked you cannot stay on a Staryu without being in the water. You can, however, rent a canoe or raft and have rope the Staryu to pull you across water. Pokemon such as Linoone who are a normal type but can learn surf in the games CANNOT surf, it is limited solely to water Pokemon.

I'll add more soon, until then, feel free to discuss and ask questions.

So how are we going to make it so it doesn't get crazy?

So how are we going to make it so it doesn't get crazy?

That's why I created this thread. It has a lot of information, and eventually when I'm not feeling lazy I'll add the rest. If people don't follow the rules, the thread gets closed and no more Free-Form PKMN RPG.

Because I completely missed your post >.<; I'm sorry, I've edited my last post. You're approved, but you have to edit your post. I need full names for characters.

May i propose a time system to be placed at the top of our posts,

ie. my post would begin something like:
Resu Haether
Fuschia Gym
14:00
Gym Trainer

This can prevent confusion over timings, as some of us have to keep up with others much further ahead of us (on the timescale) - i do realise this system is open to abuse and confusion but it could be remedied as such.

A question:

I want Maya to win an Abra at the Game Corner, would I still have to PM you a Catch Request?

Shurei_Kaiba
4th August 2005, 5:12 PM
/\TriForce/\: I was thinking we could run off of a common timezone, perhaps Pacific US? I think it would be wise to add the time to posts as well, but if people do not disagree with using one timezone; then it would be unnecessary.

FlamingRuby: Abra is FAR too rare, even for Game Corner. Remember, this is based primarily around the anime, not the games.

Also, I've updated on Surfing/Flying guys, please read.

I don't mind one time zone for the whole RP.

And I have a question, since my main character atm is Nichole, and a Rocket, and as such is a theif, and she does have to steal stuff, can she steal pokemon (not to easily or frequently) from NPC's and also steal items (again not to easily or frequently) from places such as evolution stones from Celadon city's market?

Shurei_Kaiba
4th August 2005, 5:44 PM
Renegade: I think it would be impossible to steal from Celadon City's department store, I imagine it has very...very...very high security. Pickpocketing items from trainers is highly likely, though. Stealing Pokemon is an EXTREMELY iffy subject, even when they'd come from NPC's, but I'd have to say yes with some major downfalls. You do NOT get to keep the Pokemon, you send it back to the boss. Also, chances are after you've stolen one you'll be hiding out for a while whilst the trainer has the cops looking for you.

Yami Ryu
4th August 2005, 5:48 PM
I know I don't get the pokemon XD

Anyways I can still work a post out, Nichole might not be able to steal a stone or two from the store, but if she can pick pocket, well, she can get something from a trainer before making a great escape from the rent-a-cops o.o

FlamingRuby

Okay...would Meowth or Vulpix make a better first catch?

Sike Saner
4th August 2005, 6:37 PM
I don't think I have any problem with a common time zone - at any rate , if I'm to catch up with where the other characters are now, I'll have to do something semi-drastic; most of the other players seem to be in night right now or else the next morning, and it's only about 1:00 pm at the latest for Aria. It'd probably help if I were able to post more often - how are you guys doing that? :p

Anyway, I have a few questions about the battle system; mainly, I'd like to know if, indeed, the "no auto-hitting" rule only applies to battles with other player characters, and not battles with NPCs and wild Pokémon. Meanwhile, I probably ought to have a look at PASBL, since I never have and thus am still unfamiliar with the battle system.

In the next post, I intend to encounter a wild Pokémon, so expect a "may I catch" PM soon. :D Don't worry, I promise it won't be anything too unreasonable though - you won't see me asking to catch a Lapras outside of Cerulean or anything. :p

Hmm, I don't think this method of timezone is easy for me as I live in the UK so I'd have to get up early if I wanted a Pokemon in the night. Any other methods?

PhQnix
4th August 2005, 6:46 PM
Time on the posts, everyone keeeps to there own time - that way we in the UK don't have any problems. The time could just be for reference and useful when we want to follow our own stories. It would have to be kept in check though ie. someone skips ahead a year etc. that wouldn't be allowed but 1 - 2 days maybe??

Shurei_Kaiba
4th August 2005, 6:46 PM
Flaming Ruby: Both are equally common around Celadon City.

Sike Saner: Yes, the auto-hitting rule only applies when battling other player characters. Also, by means of PASBL, don't take it into full effect. It simply means that you can use two attacks in one turn if you wish, energy is a factor (if a Pokemon runs out they faint) as well as health, and two player characters seeking battle would have to comply upon rules, such as two versus two, etc. etc.

superjolteon: I'll have to think about this. Until I can come up with a proper method of timing, simply state the hour of day in your posts as TriForce has suggested. Naturally, if you're in Viridian Forest at Midnight, and someone is there at 3a.m., you wouldn't be able to interact with them.

Everyone: Any suggestions as to a timing method in which everyone would follow?

TriForce: Skipping ahead a few hours is okay, not a whole day though, that's just lazy =P (Of course, sleeping through the night and waking up the next day is acceptable)

FlamingRuby
4th August 2005, 6:54 PM
All right, I'll see if I can get both today...

And another question: How do coordinators get extra money, aside from their initial stake?

Shurei_Kaiba

FlamingRuby: Hey Coordinators are your job, 'member? Na, I'm kidding. I assume with a ribbon they are also awarded $500 per win at a Contest Hall.

Okay, you said pokemon placement is more like anime then game, so I have a question, say I want Nichole to catch a poison type such as Nidoran or Ekans, would they be in the routes around Saffron or what o.o because I think Nichole will have to have a new pokemon to have with her as Absol and Houndour seem to stick out more then an average pokemon

Shurei_Kaiba
4th August 2005, 8:43 PM
Renegade: As previously stated, catching a Pokemon revolves around its rarity. You can find a Pidgey almost anywhere, but finding a Charmander would be impossible. Ekans and Nidoran, both male and female, are likely to be in many places.

blueaquadog: Nope, Water Pokemon only. Snorlax would sink to the bottom of the ocean, he weighs what...300lbs?

~Serefui_No_Rukario~: Refer to the rank/evolution chart in the Sign-Ups thread.

Thankyou for answering my question, but um, to point out something;

blueaquadog: Nope, Water Pokemon only. Snorlax would sink to the bottom of the ocean, he weighs what...300lbs?

that reasoning would have all fat pokemon sink o.o or humans. Snorlax, in theory could swim, as muscle = heavier than fat and fat = bounancy. But I can see your reasoning for creatures such as Linoone and Tauros/Miltank, Nidoking and even Rhydon (wtf did they give it surf anyways Oo)

You could have it only adult and fit (... dear lord a 'fit' Snorlax >_>) can use surf/swim ... though how you'd stay on the swiming Snorlax is another problem o-o so maybe your reasoning is best that it can't swim.

... it'd probably try and eat water pokemon too ... sushi on the go...

Sorry Shurei Kaiba if you would rather explain this go ahead but for now:

Serefui- the evolution works like this, your pokemon may evolve when you acquire the rank needed for them to evolve at.

This goes as such:Evolution/Rank Chart
Trainer, Breeder, Coordinator
Newbie: Pokemon that evolve at Level 10 and below (Ex: Butterfree, Beedrill)
Novice: Pokemon that evolve at Level 16 and below (Ex: Charmeleon, Kadabra)
Fair: Pokemon that evolve at Level 25 and below, friendship evolution, item evolution, trade evolution, stone evolution (Ex: Arbok, Victreebel, Eeveelutions, Gengar, Scizor)
Adept: Pokemon that evolve at 35 and below (Ex: Gardevoir, Golduck)
Elite: Pokemon that evolve at 50 and below (Ex: Charizard, Feraligatr)
Master: All Pokemon

So for example you have a pikachu, should you wish to evolve him you are allowed to do so when you attain the rank for elemental stone evolutions. This rank is "fair" therefore when you reach "fair" you can evolve pikachu to raichu. To attain a rank upgrade you must demonstrate your prowess to Shurei Kaiba who will then PM you with the information about your rank upgrade.

I have still been thinking about the time system, and what seems to be the main probalem with instating a uniform time flow among all of us is that our plots are progressing at differing rates - mine, for example, progresses rather slowly; it may be quite a while before I get to my first Gym battle.

Speaking of which: Do we have to follow the usual Kanto Gym sequence (Pewter, Cerulean, Vermilion, etc.)? Reason being that I am presently approaching Cerulean, and while I don't feel that I'm quite prepared for a Gym match yet, I do wish to know if I would have to leave the Cerulean Gym alone for the time being even if I did want to go there.

One last thing: I'm still a little unsure of the "energy" system in battles. Could I see an example of how that works?

PhQnix
4th August 2005, 11:24 PM
I'd suggest chacking the PASBL battle archives for an example of how the energy system works, also i think we agreed that there was no uniform time and that we just posted the time it was in our adventure.
I am pretty sure that the gym sequence is unnecessary as we would alll end up queueing in one gym, creating congestion - don't take my word for that though i'm not the GM. Don't worry about the cerulean gym yet as we have no misty RPer yet.

Sike Saner
4th August 2005, 11:26 PM
That surprises me; you'd think lots would be clamoring for Misty. Which leaders are still available? I myself have entertained the notion of taking on Erika, but I don't really think I have enough time on my hands to take on another character, much less a Gym leader.

PhQnix
4th August 2005, 11:31 PM
Just Erika and Misty, though i seem to remember that there was someone who had PMed Shurei about Misty's position and we were just waiting for a sign up, we really need an Erika as there are lots of people in Celadon who probably want to battle. I would but i don't know enough about the manga and anime to try this.

Sike Saner
4th August 2005, 11:43 PM
I only know a little about her from the anime, and nothing at all from the manga...Hang on! I have a copy of the Erika episode! Ah, I should watch it!

Fair: Pokemon that evolve at Level 25 and below, friendship evolution, item evolution, trade evolution, stone evolution (Ex: Arbok, Victreebel, Eeveelutions, Gengar, Scizor)

About THAT.

Uhmmmmmmmm My trainer caught a Zubat a while back..(dunno if I can keep it, I kinda didn't know I had to PM Shurei with the catch. O_O;;;;;;;; ) Zubat evolves to Golbat on level 22. I would have to have a Fair trainer rank to have it evolve. But, at that same time, Golbat evolves to Crobat with friendship. So, after Zubat evos to Golbat, can I make Golbat evo to Crobat any time after that?

PS. Can a Crobat Fly as well? The Pokedex says it is 5'11......

Shurei_Kaiba
5th August 2005, 12:11 AM
Sike Saner: Whee, I have some catching up to do. Energy System is more or less common sense, a Hyper Beam takes a lot of energy, a scratch does not. Visit pasbl.upnetwork.net and click the link for Attack Descriptions, most list energy consumption. Also, you don't have to follow the Gym Sequence from the games, however, take note, a Newbie trainer challenging Sabrina, who's only Pokemon is Alakazam, would get pwned. (I love that word). Please, take Erika!

/\TriForce/\: You know, you rawk. If you'd like, take on GM status for this RP, you seem to comprehend everything.

xXSaberXx: Whee, so there are errors in my rank/evolution system. Err, well...uh...gah =( Yes, let's just say you achieve the Fair Rank, and then Zubat battles something and evolves. Then you battle something else, and it evolves AGAIN; I guess that'll work. Crobat can fly, Ash flies on him all over on the anime.

Everyone: I haven't gotten any feedback on my previous question, should I bump the number of allowed characters to three? As in one player can have three characters in the RPG.

Sike Saner
5th August 2005, 1:24 AM
Hmm, are you officially giving me Erika? (I'll still fill out an application even if you are.)

Oh, and two more things: 1.) How many attacks can Pokémon know at once, and 2.) Are we circumventing the TM/HM system, as is done in the anime (e.g., I might like for my Bellsprout to learn Solarbeam)?

EDIT: Actually, Saffire Persian has just applied for Erika, and it's an excellent application IMO. I would strongly consider it if I were you.

Shurei_Kaiba
5th August 2005, 4:58 AM
Yes, I know, she'd mentioned it in the sign-up thread and then PMed me, and I do Gym Leaders on a first come first serve (if the app is good enough) basis. Also, Misty is now open (the person backed out) if you'd like to go for her.

Edit: Completely forgot to address the TM/HM thing. No, they don't exist; however it is likely Solar Beam could be taught to a Bellsprout by having him watch it being used over and over; sort of like Nobu's Ralts who knows Shock Wave.

Sike Saner
5th August 2005, 5:41 AM
Ah. That's good; I imagine I will have several occasions to want TM/HM moves. BTW, does this policy apply to move tutor moves, too?

Thanks, but no thanks on Misty. :) To tell the truth, I don't really have the desire to play another character right now, Gym leader or otherwise; I haven't really got the time - as it is, I can usually only manage to post up to three times a day with just one character. I was only willing to take up a Gym leader spot if no one else would.

PhQnix

Sike Saner: Move Tutor moves even more so as even in the games they are taught by a person not a machine.
Wolf: Yes, you can interact with wild pokemon, without PM, as long as you don't capture them - but nothing far fetched such as a Dragonit or Gardevoir etc. I'd suggest for interaction purposes you only interact with species found in the area your in on the game.
btw everyone once again this may be wrong Shurei may have other ideas.
I'd like the GM status if it would help you - does this mean what i can accept reject sign ups and hand out rank's?

Work it into the RPG somehow.

PhQnix
5th August 2005, 12:30 PM
You'd probably have to be asked to by an NPC, ie. you come across someone who wishes to give away an egg, or you find an egg on the floor. Basically you care for pokemon - trying to raise them more as pets rather than as creatures for battling, I suggest though that Shurei you should elaborate a tiny bit more on what you expect the breeders to do, or in fact anyone who has RPed a breeder somewhere else.
On a side note three characters - really at a decent rate ie. not to short a post two should be pushing it. Instead of creating more characters attempt to get people to join the RP

Okay, thanks. I still have to PM Shurei if I pokesit someones pokemon or get an egg, right?

5th August 2005, 12:43 PM
Yer i guess, it's similair to catching isn't it? So i presume so, and the same rules probably still apply - no getting a ridiculously powerful pokemon. You should probably RP small lowlevel pokemon till your rank increases, use the evolution chart as a guide, ie. for a Newbie rank you can only have pokemon in the Newbie rank evolution part.

Okay, since the primary discussion is Breeders, I'll put my outlook on what I expect a breeder to be.

Breeders care for Pokemon more then they care for human beings. They want to catch as many as they can and raise them to be the most timid, friendly, beautiful creatures; they want to raise them to be their best friends. Like a teenage girl who loves kids, Breeders can Pokesit, they can even open Daycare Houses if they advertise properly (but then they can't leave the city that they're in), but they must build reputation, somehow strutting around city with their prize Pokemon (expression, Breeders don't look at them that way), and people stopping and saying, "Wow, you raised that Pokemon soooo well, yadda yadda yadda!" The reason there are now Breeding Tournaments is because there's nothing a Breeder wants more then to show how amazing their best friend is. Hope this elaborates a little bit.

Alright. So do I pokesit for fake characters?

Congrats, TriForce! :D And, yes, let's have trainer records. It'll be much more convienient to have a quick reference than it would be to search for the info through the entire RP thread once it's gotten to 10+ pages.

At the present, I find myself curious as to what your policy is on catching evolved Pokémon (e.g. Pidgeotto) and shiny Pokémon. I personally don't have my sights set on either of those things right now, but I get the feeling folks'll want to know. I apologize, by the way, if these questions have already been asked and answered; I have been busy this morning and haven't had much time to look over the more recent posts in this thread.

Hmmm attempted the map idea - didn't work but i'll keep a record of where everyone is, Evolved pokemon are ok i believe as long as they don't brach the Evolution rules i believe - also Shiny pokemon i suggest maybe (last time I checked they didn't have more powerful stats did they?? - if they do then no catching them) but if we do catch them keep it to a minimum.

5th August 2005, 8:52 PM
Oh! I have an idea for the shiny pokemon. You have to send a BIO of it to Shurei, explaining it's nature and age and speice and what it looks like....EG

Name: (The nickname you will give it once you catch it)
Specie:
Nature: (How does it act?)
Bio: (What was it's life like before this?)
Appearence: (Describe what it looks like, in detail.)

It has to has to be a pokemon YOU CAN catch in the wild, nothing like Charmander or Chikorita....etc etc. YOu have to be thorough, and if Shurei turns the form down, you can't have it. o-o;;

Just an idea. ^_^

PhQnix
5th August 2005, 8:56 PM
Hmmm- excellent idea - that would work meaning that only those able to come up with a decent RP character would be allowed a shiny - therefore rewarding there talents, what do you think Shurei?

This eliminates the problem of people with tonees of shinies - i know i wouldn't put that much work effort in just for a shiny.

Shurei_Kaiba
5th August 2005, 9:05 PM
Sounds great. I'll edit the primary post when I have the time to and add the information on how to obtain a shiny Pokemon. If people roleplaying in the thread don't look here, well it's their fault, I've posted in both the registration and the actual thread posts that this discussion is in the RPG Cafe.

Regarding Evolved Pokemon: I'll use the previous example. Pidgeotto. Catching evolved Pokemon is possible, though I imagine with certain ones it'd be difficult. Actually, scratch using Pidgeotto as a referrance, I'll use Beedrill and Gloom. Beedrill appear in swarms, the chances of finding just one would be very unlikely, hence, unless you'd like 100 stings from a Beedrill catching one would be out of the question. Gloom, however, and the entire RBY Oddish Family, often wander alone; hence it would be slightly easier to catch this Pokemon. It would, however, have to be weakened a LOT more then an unevolved Pokemon, seeing as it is stronger and whatnot; if it's been hit once chances are it'll burst from the Pokeball and run away.

Breeders do 6 things:
1. Breed Pokemon (No duh!)
2. Raise pokemon
3. Pokesit
4. Groom Pokemon
5. (Some) Ref Pokemon battles
6. Battle

You only need one battle to evolve it. I have a Butterfree.

Shurei_Kaiba
5th August 2005, 11:12 PM
Breeders Evolving Pokemon: A breeder's nurturing is the sole key which affects their Pokemon's status, level, and evolution. A better breeder will have Pokemon in better condition, the best will even have Pokemon that could beat a Master Trainer's. It's not so much friendship as it is caring, a Pokemon which is treated better by a Breeder could just up and evolve out of a spurt of experience. Think of it in game standards: Certain things you feed a Pokemon give it experience, certain things you do with a Pokemon, such as playing, give it experience, and ways in which the Breeder his or herself interacts with the Pokemon will also give it experience.

And just to clear something up, Breeders CAN battle, they just tend not to.

Okay I have three guestions:

1. What about the pokemons that evolve using a stone or by trading? Do people need to trade their Kadabra away if they want it to evolve? And when are they able to evolve pokemons that evole with stones?

2. I´m not absolutely sure, but did you say that we can have two charaters in thi RPG? I was just thinking because I want to play as a trainer as well as coordinator, so am I still allowed to make another character?

3. How do Coordinators pokemon elvolve, and are they allowe to battle sometimes too?

Notice

Everyone read this, or a flock of Farfetch'd will beat you senseless.

This post is regarding...well...posts. Let's just say a lot of people are making it unfair for the RPers who put a great deal of effort into their posts such as Sike Saner, likely the most talented we have here, perhaps all of SPPf. Please, your posts NEED meaning, they NEED description, and they NEED a notion of comprehension. I'm not saying they have to be a mile long, I'm saying that they have to be intelligent and have reasoning behind why your character is doing this, or why an NPC would be doing it. For instance, a little sample of a VERY bad roleplay, then I'll point out what was wrong afterwards.

Louis the Coordinator chase Sally the Breeder for a few minutes. He caught her and tackled her to the ground and gave her a big kiss even though he didn't know who she was.

Sally blushed and pushed Louis off of her. Then they took their Pokemon to the Pokemon Center. There, Sally offered Louis an Egg.[/sample]

Okay. This could go on, and on, and on, and on. But still, it wouldn't make any sense. For instance, there was no description of reasoning. By this, I mean WHY was Louis chasing Sally, WHY did they go to the Pokemon Center, and WHY did Sally just offer Louis, who she'd just met, an Egg, out of nowhere? Seriously people, be intelligent. TriForce will elaborate on this further, I'm sure. But I am warning everyone, if your posts fail to satisfy myself, TriForce, of Saffire Persian, you will be given a warning via PM and we will TRY to help you. If you do it again afterwards, don't bother coming back to this RP.

PhQnix
5th August 2005, 11:39 PM
1. - Stones and training evolution occurs when you reach Fair rank
2. You can have two characters - i believe SK is currently thinking on extending it to three
3. Anyone can battle - regardless of there trainer type

Hope that helped

I'm double posting, sue me. That other thread was too important to edit.

TriForce, as always, you're right. Everyone remember, what he says goes, just as if I were to say it.

GoldenHouou: Re-Read the Registration Thread's First Post and it'll all those answers except this one.

Coordinators Levelling Pokemon: Coordinators Level Pokemon in a different way then both trainers and breeders, by training them further in the aspects of which competition they are to enter. In example, a Wurmple who is meant to compete in Beauty Contests. With certain berries and teaching them certain techniques and tricks, that Wurmple would evolve into Beautifly from progressing along in it's journey to become beautiful. This doesn't elaborate much, but I don't know of any other way to say it. They still follow the rank chart, though.

Edit: Hey, I didn't double post!

Nobuhide Ishikawa - Shurei_Kaiba = Pewter City
Aria Maida - Sike Saner = Cerulean

Uh-oh, SK - looks like you and me might be about to cross paths! :D That is, if you're planning on heading for Cerulean via Mt. Moon after you've finished business in Pewter - and don't worry, by the way; I have no intention of going on a Clefairy-catching bonanza whilst in the Mt. Moon area or anything else so ridiculous - I doubt I'll even see a Clefairy.

I have just thought of something which isn't really an issue right now, but might become one if/when we start getting more breeders, and then, only if said breeders decide to actually set up breeding centers. If a trainer is in the same city where a breeder player has set up a breeding center, may those two players interact in the following ways?: Trainer buys Pokémon egg from breeder; breeder gives egg to trainer; etc. The former scenario seems much more plausible to me; a breeder might sell pedigree eggs, but I can't imagine a breeder just giving an egg to someone he or she has never met before.

If your answer to the "recieve eggs from breeders" issue is yes, the question then becomes who decides what the egg hatches into. On the one hand, if eggs are purchased, who in thier right mind would shell out money for an egg when they don't know what it will yield? I imagine a breeder selling eggs would not falsely advertise (that would be crooked), and in fact, would very readily label the contents of the eggs (not literally, as in "Nidoran" written on the egg with a Sharpie :p ), proud as they would be of their achievements in breeding that particular species. In this case, the trainer would be choosing the species of the egg.

On the other hand, it might be more fun for the breeder to decide on the species - a nice little surprise for the trainer. The trainer player could PM the breeder player when he or she is ready to RP the egg hatching, and the breeder player could in turn PM back with the Pokémon that is to hatch from the egg. The other advantage of this system is that it could help avoid trainers just using breeders as a means to acquire any old rare Pokémon they want - no rampant orders of Kangaskhan and Lapras eggs.

Then again, a middle ground might be achieved by letting those who run breeding centers write up a specific, restrictive list of which species of eggs they will offer. Example: One breeder might offer eggs of Meowth, Spearow, Oddish, Drowzee, Pineco, Psyduck, and nothing else. Perhaps, in this case, there should be a limit on the number of kinds of Pokémon eggs a breeder might offer. That number could be comprised of, say, so many common species, then a slightly smaller number of uncommon species, and perhaps only one rare species. Perhaps the rarity of species breeders may offer should be determined by rank; rank should likewise determine the rarity of eggs trainers may obtain.

Anyway, I'm sure that you can exercise good judgment where this issue is concerned. It just seems like now's the time to attend to it, before it becomes a question-breeding issue. (Semi-pun not intended. :p )

Regarding my character: I might have something more of a delay in posting my way to Pewter than I had previously anticipated. I was going to post the battle between my character and the NPC I've introduced tonight, but I'm getting a migraine... >.< I'd better not try to write out a battle while my brain is at all compromised (physically, in this case); I won't risk skunking the quality of any post, especially not one encompassing a battle. Hopefully, I will be able to do it tomorrow instead.

Everyone: Don't worry about your posts unless myself or TriForce PM you, telling you you're doing something wrong. Just be weary of probability and relevance.

SS: All of that is highly possible, yes, however like you'd stated, I doubt a breeder would just give a random person an egg; I think they'd be sold. And yes, it's a great idea. All of it, actually. I think Eggs would have a type, like Fire or Water or Bug and whatnot, but you wouldn't know exactly what you're getting. It's really a great idea, would you care to be in charge of Breeders? Or do you not have the time?

Yes, I double posted again, sue me.

Sike Saner
7th August 2005, 12:55 AM
I think I could probably do the management where the breeders/eggs are concerned, sure. ^_^ Just don't expect me to put together a breeder of my own anytime soon - now, for that, I don't have time, no.

I do very much like the idea of eggs having only a type as a label. That way, the trainer can choose the type, but not have too much say ove what they get, plus, if the breeder decides what the egg hatches into, it does give the trainer that element of surprise, which is FUN! :D Anyway, how I guess that would work is that the trainer chooses a type of egg; fire, for example. When the trainer is ready to hatch the egg (I hope some reason will be applied there; no hatching an egg hours after getting it), he or she PMs the breeder; the breeder PMs back with the species of the hatching Pokémon. The trainer chooses the type; the breeder chooses the species. An elegantly effective system, SK; I commend you. :)

I do still think that rank needs to play a part in this. Perhaps a breeder can have more types of eggs with increases in rank; a newbie breeder, for example, might only be able to choose three different types of eggs to sell.

Shurei_Kaiba
7th August 2005, 1:34 AM
Right, I also agree with that. Though I don't think rank should affect the type of egg given away, rather the degree of rarity as in what it will hatch into. We'll say Newbie Breeder vs. Master Breeder. Newbie Breeder gives a trainer a bug type egg, followed by Master Breeder. Newbie Breeder's egg turns out to be Weedle, Master's egg turns out to be Anorith. See what I mean?

Also, I've encountered my own dilemma in which I'm seeking intelligent input, since Tri is gone for a while I don't have anyone else to ask the question. We'll use me for instance, I play Nobuhide Ishikawa, a trainer, and Sabrina, a gym leader. Anyone see the conflict? Do I very well battle myself? I don't quite know how to solve this =/

I was thinking of a new gym, so that characters who have both a trainer and a gym leader can acquire all eight badges, but then that wouldn't be very true to the game. Ahhh frustrating >.<

Yami Ryu
7th August 2005, 1:43 AM
I was in a few trainer RPs, and one had an outside force determine the outcome of a gym leader battle. Well, it was how much the person trained, and another person that wasn't biased to come to a desicion on who would win.

... oooh wait. Wasn't there a fighting Dojo in the game? Could turn that into a sub gym, like if people can't defeat Sabrina, they fight the Dojo Master's pupils, and if they're good enough they win an honorary badge. As I'm thinking Sabrina is like Clair(sp) in GSC, a very hard to defeat Gym Leader, rival to no one.

And about the eggs, the person might have to state what species he has of the type tp prevent getting another of the same, like my character Yui o.o to keep from getting another Magikarp or Totodile.

I can't remember the kid's name, but I'm sure you've all seen this episode early on in the anime. He owns a non-official gym and his primary Pokemon is that Sandshrew, guys got purple hair and stuff. Perhaps we could put him on as an official gym just before Lt. Surge.

What do ya'll think?

IIRC, the guy with the Sandshrew and the non-official Gym is named A.J. And there probably is someplace where one of us can verify this.

And, yes, that does sound like a viable idea. I am curious, do you intend to keep that Gym in "unofficial" status, or are you intending to promote it to official Gym status?

Shurei_Kaiba
7th August 2005, 5:05 AM
Likely official gym status, since it's meant to be there for players who have both a trainer and a gym leader character, like myself, since I'm not going to very well battle Sabrina with Nobu who are both my characters, I wouldn't even trust myself not to be biased.

Sike Saner
7th August 2005, 5:23 AM
That makes sense. And confirmed: His name is A.J., and he has got some Ratatta and a Beedrill as well as a Sandshrew. He also has a Butterfree, if I'm not mistaken.

Shurei_Kaiba
7th August 2005, 5:38 AM
I'll probably just have him do 1-on-1 with a Sandslash, between Misty and Lt. Surge, with a level between theirs.

Also, you'd only be able to challenge him if you have a gym leader character and can't rightfully obtain all eight badges, sound good?

Or should I make him tough?

I have a question. When my Nincada eventually evolves, I get a Shedinja as well, correct?

Intermediate between Misty and Lt. Surge sounds about right, but he is still a very tenacious guy. He does take training very seriously.

Shurei_Kaiba
7th August 2005, 8:45 PM
Indeed. Hmm...perhaps he'll have a gym in Lavender Town? Since it is one of the only places in Kanto which don't have a gym and all, he could be between Lt. Surge and Erika?

Sike Saner
7th August 2005, 10:13 PM
Excellent! I always thought that Lavender was given the shaft by not being given a Gym.

Alright, just so you know, I'm going to be taking a short while off from posting in the RP thread. I'm using today to do a bit of brainstorming regarding what I want to do in the Mt. Moon area and what sorts of things might be possible after Pewter. And tomorrow holds house cleaning, and lots of it. Arrgh. So, it'll be Tuesday before I post anything new.

Is it possible to change trainer type, like Trainer to Rocket, as if you where a rocket in disguise, or breeder to coridinator, once they entered a well raised pokemon in a contest and loved it?

O'Malley
8th August 2005, 5:07 PM
FF is still over in Romania, and we have a little idea for a plot twist. I'll probably PM you about that later, seeing that this is pretty early in the RPG.

That is a pretty good question, Seviper. I'd like the answer to that question as well; I've been asked once by FF to put up a second application.

Shurei_Kaiba
8th August 2005, 8:45 PM
Yes it's possible, but you must reapply. You can copy and paste everything, just alter brief history so that it shows the reason of changing "Classifications".

Also, keep the plots on a downlow for a while, at least another week while we (the GMs) work out all of the kinks.

O'Malley
8th August 2005, 10:49 PM
Anyway... my idea for a new position as far as another app was "Rocket Breeder." It's self-explanatory, and that's just what I'm thinking of doing.

Shurei_Kaiba

Serefui: I'm still not sure yet.

Magneto

You should add jobs, like Pokemon Investegator and Gym Officiator.

O'Malley

Err... officiator? What would that be? That is a good idea, though.

Sike Saner
9th August 2005, 5:29 AM
God almighty...I fear I am being outstripped by this thing...

Seriously. It was one thing when I was behind by a few hours, still in the morning while others were in night, but now it's gotten to the point where there are a few people...quite a few...who are already several days into this thing. But look at my character, and she's only in the second day of her story. How in the heck are you guys able to progress so danged fast? But yeah, I don't know how on Earth I can possibly catch up with the rest of the RP. How can I really interact with anyone when I'm in the past? I certainly don't want to just skip ahead several days...what should I do? In a way, I don't know if I'm really a part of this story at this point...my pacing is just so slow...Maybe I'm not cut out for this...

SK: Congratulations on the Boulderbadge! Anyway, since it looks like you're heading my way, there's a few measures that might need to be taken. Aside from the difference in days between my character and many of the others, it is, if I'm not mistaken, almost 4:00 pm for your character, but for mine...well, my last post had me at about 12:30 pm or so, and I was not planning on leaving Cerulean until like 7:00 pm. That said, I might give you a chance to come by my way and reach the evening yourself before I set out. Otherwise, we run the risk of you and me being in the same place together at two different times...To put it simply, your next part must precede mine if we are to interact. Once it gets to be 7:00ish where your character is, maybe that's when I should proceed. Of course, another option would be for me to just go back and edit the last post so that I don't have to wait to leave Cerulean until the evening. I don't know. What do you think I should do?

Of course, even if I do one of those things, I'm not sure if we can successfully rendezvous. Like I said, my pacing is just too slow. And, like I said...I'm kind of a few days in the past here...

Magneto
9th August 2005, 4:18 PM
An officator would be someone who checks the validity of gyms, oversees legitemete trades, etc. My character is practically an investigator allready, so I kinda wanted it to be offical. Could you do that Shurei Kaiba?

Shurei_Kaiba
9th August 2005, 9:26 PM
Sike: Don't worry about day, darlin'. Honestly, think about it. I doubt 25 trainers would all start their journeys on the same day, it's why we haven't listed actual dates or anything; simply times. As of a calendar, there is none, as that would make things even more hectic. For all I know, you started your journey after my character did, which is why I'm ahead. You see what I'm saying? I don't think the thread should have dates, just times. As for Nobu leaving Pewter, it's likely he'll be there until 6:00pmish, so it is VERY possible that they will cross paths if she is starting off from Cerulean at 7:00pm, they might see each other in Mt. Moon or just outside on Route 3/4 (I can't remember which is after Mt. Moon >.<; ) But yea, don't worry about being behind. Some people haven't even posted yet (but I assume they deserted), regardless. Days and months are not a necessity in this RP when it comes to coming in contact with others.

Everyone Else: In regards to new classes, I will consider such things but trust me, I think I'll be coming out with a few new things you all might enjoy.

Note: Due to school and band, my activity will be slightly less then my always-on status, and Serebii is being ignorant with my PMs, so post your problems and requests here until further notice.

Sike Saner
9th August 2005, 10:32 PM
Thanks. That's a massive relief. I'm going to go post again now. Oh, by the way, are you going around Mt. Moon or around it on the detour trail? I'm going through it. Less safe, but I'm still going to try it. Whee. Oh, and the route leading west from Mt. Moon is Rt. 3 - I now keep a map of Kanto in the computer room. I'm not joking!

If you do encounter me, remember that I'm presently accompanied by an NPC.

And also, some pokemon from Kanto might leave as well.

Well, just stuff.

And is that...Juan in your avator? XD

Oh, how about having sunny day only work outside in the mornings, and rain dance only work outside and at anytime if there's no rain, and sandstorm only works in desert-like areas (providing there wasn't one at the moment) lol? I would seriously like to to here about rain clouds in LT's gym and a sandstorm right in the middle of an ocean @@;

If you catch a lv 21 zubat, and then evolve Golbat the next level, and then you evolve it again? It won't make sense because you just caught the zubat, so maybe have people post a minimum of _ battles before its possible to evolve it again unless you had that pokemon for a long time?

PhQnix

I don't know about a minimum for sign ups - but it could be definately worth imposing such a limit on RP posts, short posts fill up the thread to fast - and cause people to forget where those who posted a while back are. Also none of this sort of thing please "-------- 20 mins and one long goodbye later -------" - i think i saw this somewhere. Describe it - besides being more intresting it's more likely to increase your rank thus causing your pokemon to evolve.
Also scripting is against the RP forum rules!

Imposing a limit wouldn't be too bad. I'm thinking a minimum of two paragraphs, five sentences each?

As for Team Valor...they're a custom creation <<; They are an opposition to Team Rocket, and basically, that's all they are, with a few additions. Where Team Rocket does the bad, Team Valor does the good. All that humanitarian stuff, money and food for the poor, giving a Pokemon to a poor child, etc.

probably in a place with pokemon similair to them ie. the routes - but being as evee is a rare pokemon you wouldn't just stumble across it - you would have to search fr it for at least one post. Thats if SK lets you though ...

Eevee is a testy case, as of now you won't find it anywhere. Reason being that I haven't figured out how to do it yet. I'm thinking of putting an Eevee adoption center on Cinnabar Island. Pay $100,000 and they give you an Eevee, that sound alright?

Saffire Persian
17th August 2005, 4:54 AM
Yay! I like it when writer's block finally crumbles. As for rank advances, I assume we have the power to do so. Trifoce, in my opinion is the main Global Moderator of the RPG at the moment.

However, regarding ranks - I think there should be a list of who's been upgraded in ranks. So we know who's actually supposed to be a novice, etc. I'd like to get that together, since I know there aren't too many novices right now.. but yeah. That's just my opinion.

And I also ran into the question in the sign ups by Kidodai-sempai. Are they allowed to have three characters? I've heard that rumor, but never had it confirmed. You know anything about that?

Sike Saner
17th August 2005, 5:04 AM
I've heard things about a single person having three characters floating around, too, but unfortunately, I'm not able to confirm anything on an official level...And yes, it's definitely time to put up something current as a reference for everyone's ranks; perhaps it should also keep track of everyone's Pokémon, money, etc., too. Just seems like something that might be useful for the participants so that nobady loses track of things...

Saffire Persian
17th August 2005, 6:53 AM
Quite true, and I propose we keep track of trainers through the same means that we would by PM requests. So you'd keep track of the people you take requests for by their user names. So you'd have a list, and update it every time you make changes. Just keep track of the neccesites, like Sike suggested. (Rank, Pokemon, Currency...)

It seems even enough, with the exception of my list. But if it's too much, we could each keep track of our own characters. If we did so, it would bring my list up to 8, and Sike's to 12, and if you move Triforce's characters over to his own list to keep track of, that's make his 13, and Sike's 10. This makes the numbers slightly more equal.

Triforce: 13. SP: 8 S.S: 10

That makes it more equal, and each of us would keep track of our own characters. Though whether or not it would be the right thing to do just depends.

If the idea of keeping track of one's own characters isn't a good idea, we could just move Sike's character over to my list to keep track of, so then no one would be keeping track of his or her own character. This method here is probably a better way to run it. Even if the numbers are uneven, but I guess uneven numbers shouldn't be that big of a surprise.

But that's my proposal. And we could keep the proposed list of information in one of the two topics already made (In the Sign Up forum or Here, or make a new topic..though that seems unneccesary.)

Presumably this could also mean a post with what could be the equivalent of two 4-line paragraphs, as well? But you'll most likely have to give me some time to post as I've been kinda blah at writing/RPing for a few days. And I have time as in RP time I'm about 3 days behind everyone else XD

Also a proposed idea - universal time should we keep a record of this ie. what day it is etc.?

Sike Saner
20th August 2005, 1:18 AM
That just seems utterly unfeasible. There's just too much discrepancy in pacing between all the players. I'll be perfectly honest with you, the idea of instating universal tim scares the hell out of me; as it is, I find myself feeling outstripped by the other players - I'd end up either making extremely frequent, crappy posts, or else I would have to just skip long periods of game time from one post to the next just to keep up with the more quickly-progressing plots of the faster posters - and skipping entire days of game time would also render posts into the "meh" zone.

PhQnix
20th August 2005, 11:02 AM
I meant one which we would relate our timings too - ie. two days behind or one week behind etc. it's just that i've seen peoppple say (and have said) i'm behind everyone else etc.

New administration you guys are doing a GREAT job, and I can't express my thanks.

*waves to Kaiba*

come back soon!

:D

on a side note, I almost hate to nitpick, but Syria's middle name is Belle, with an "e," not Bell...:D

nothing big, just thought I'd toss that out there for the list on the Sign Up thread...

Saffire Persian
9th September 2005, 6:32 PM
Heheh. I'll fix that. .. I should've spelled it that way automatically though.. since that's a penname of mine of a few forums.. Belle, that is. Anyways - I'll go change that. Nice to see you, Kaiba, hope you come back soon!

quick note:

I'm working on my first AJ post, and I've decided that, instead of having his gym between Saffron and Vermillion, it's gonna be in Lavender, since it's currently the ONLY town without a gym.

:D

I look forward to seeing what YOU have to say about how I'm going to keep the bills down...

Saffire Persian
11th September 2005, 2:16 AM
Shurei's really the one who has the say in matters regarding that. I think it's all right if you move it, however I think it would be better if you followed Shurei's placement. However, you can still move it, but Shurei might have you move it back later, if he doens't like the idea.

^^;

Ash_Junior
11th September 2005, 6:07 AM
he placed it?

crap, I must have missed that!

could you give me a link?

Saffire Persian
11th September 2005, 6:26 AM
I'm not sure exactly where (I'll look through the threads) but I remember him going over exactly where to place some new Gyms, and AJ's was mentioned. I think he was planning to make a new Gym in Lavender Town, too, before he left.

I still say you're free to move it to Lavender, there's just a small chance Shurei_Kaiba might have you move it back. He's a nice guy, so I doubt he'll have you do so. I was just giving you the heads up.

Edit Actually, I found the thread discussing it. It seems the gym was supposed to be in Lavender town anyway. Soo.. you're more than welcome to move it back to where it was originally intended.

I asked once and was ignored so:

What five cities are the contests in?

Lets say I use five pokemon in five cool contests each and they win all of them can I go into the Ribbon Cup?

How do you blend Pokeblocks in this game?

Ash_Junior
11th September 2005, 11:11 PM
lol....I didn't know where that thread is, or where it was supposed to be, but I guess I made the right choice.

:D

Saffire Persian
12th September 2005, 1:52 AM
Hmm.. oddly enough I'm not sure what cities are home of the contest halls. However, I'd be willing to bet both Saffron and Celadon City would have one - Celadon would also prove to be a good bet.

And no to your pokemon question. even if they one five cool contests all together, they'd each have to win five cool contests themselves to be applicable fo the ribbon cup.

As for blending Pokeblocks, you roleplay it

AKEBOSHI

Sereful no Rukario mentioned one Cerulean and I think Flaming Ruby and Shining Ho-Oh are competing in Celedon city if I'm correct.

Ash_Junior
12th September 2005, 2:17 AM
hey, just a question...

non-Coordinators can enter contests too, right?

I was planning on it, but I just wanted to check...

Saffire Persian
12th September 2005, 2:45 AM
I don't see why they couldn't. The vice-versa could also be applicable. The only difference would be Coordinators would probably be more talented in contests, while Trainers would be better in just all out battling. *shruggs*. So, if you want your character to participate in Contest/Gyms I don't see why not.

Hmm...Somehow, I still don't feel right about being able to greenlight my own Pokémon requests (which is essentially what I'd be doing since I'm on my own PM list...). It just seems unfair, since I would be the only one able to do that. It just seems like, for the sake of fairness, I should have to ask someone else if I can catch a Pokémon just like everyone else has to do.

For some moronic reason, my computer will no longer access this site, nor serebii.net. (Yet it has no qualms about loading any other site...what the frell, seriously?...) I am posting this from the public library's computer, which only allows you 1 hour online per day. Hence, unless order can be restored...this means I will hardly be able to be on here at all, I'm afraid...

That said, it might be a good idea to transfer my status as the third GM to somebody else. (It's not as if I was really doing much of anything with that status anyway. ^_^; ) I don't really have anyone in mind to take my place, so...*shrugs*

I hope desperately that this insane anomaly gets resolved soon. It's already cutting a huge dent in my posting...there are certain of my activities on these forums which stand to suffer from this, and if the library ceases to be an option, this could ultimately cost me my membership on this site...

Here's to hopes for order...

I am back! What happened! What did I miss? Why hasn't anyone posted in more then two weeks? Ack!

I know I took forever, but it truly wasn't my fault. We'd finally sold the house and until it closes we aren't even allowed to get the money. It won't close until December 23rd (which is BS), so I went out and rented a computer. It's a pain and a lot of money out of my pocket but it'll have to do for now.

So would anyone care to update me? What did I miss? What's going on? Etc.

Saffire Persian
7th November 2005, 3:23 AM
Shurei! Glad to see you back.

What's going on? Well, to tell you the truth, the thread has slown down, a lot. Not a surprise, really. It's the way threads go. Mostly, only a few people have been posting, with long breaks in between - that goes for all of us. But, it's still alive, which is the positive thing.

No one has signed up in a long, long time either. I probably need to bump it up or something.

We've been splitting who takes care of the requests based on the Member's user names, and Triforce has been taking care of the rank upgrading part.. though truthfully, there hasn't been much to upgrade.

Another question: You ever thinking of reviving that other roleplay you started ever? (The Gate Keys) Or are you going to forego the thread entirely. It died after you left of course, but I'm curious whether you are going to start it up again, or not.

Sike Saner
7th November 2005, 3:37 AM
AH! Welcome back!

Well, the good news on this end is that I've got a working computer again, so my post rate can start ascending again. ^_^

Now that you're here again, I can ask the following: I know that, for example, hold items don't exist here. What about another game-based element...the Pokérus? How might that work if it does exist?

AKEBOSHI
7th November 2005, 4:43 AM
heh, nice to see you back....^.^

Shurei_Kaiba
7th November 2005, 5:05 PM
Saffire: Well Gate Keys kind of died by itself, even before I left I saw that I was the last person who'd posted for like...a week. I think it's because people liked ABNA better, and most people from Gate Keys joined it and gave up on the other.

Sike: I'd say the Poke'rus exists, I mean...disease has to be somewhere. I suppose it'd be much like Pikachu's sickness in that Magnemite Episode, random outbirsts of power, flushed and fevered.

Kidodi: Why thank-you =)

Everyone: My gawd I can't express my gratitude enough to all of you, especially Saffire, Sike, and TriForce. You guys did absolutely superb! And I'm glad to be back. I think ABNA needs some advertisement, maybe a link in profiles to the Sign-Up page? I'uno, I'm glad to be back, and even if the thread has slowed down I'm looking forward to roleplaying with all of you!

PhQnix
7th November 2005, 6:04 PM
Yay, you're back. I'm glad to see that you have finally sorted out your computer woes and are able to return to RPing.

But about the RP, the sign-up thread has not been posted in for over 30 days, thus I don't think we are allowed to bump it. Also the RP has pretty much died, I think it may be worth checking with one of the RP mods to see if you can restart it. A restart where the old RPers can keep their characters ranks etc. would allow us to bring in some nice newbies to help boost the post count.

Also their is no capital letter in my name anymore, just Triforce

Sike Saner
7th November 2005, 7:22 PM
Well, technically the RPG thread isn't dead in terms of the 30-day rule; the last post was on Oct. 19th. But a restart, complete with a new sign-up thread and all, does definitely have the potential to revivify the RPG, absolutely. It's certainly something to consider favorably.

PhQnix
7th November 2005, 11:35 PM
We have permission to bump both threads, but we also have permission to restart the RP. Before anyone bumps either thread I suggest that everyone has their say first.

AKEBOSHI
8th November 2005, 12:00 AM
I don't want people reading my old crappy posts so I'm into a fresh start <<;;;; And if I were to remember closely, the only few people posting at the end were us three and Saffire_Persion, so even if we were to start again, I don't know if gym leaders from the past like O'mally would like to RP again since their interests may have extinguished and would just make crappy posts.

Shurei_Kaiba
8th November 2005, 5:32 AM
Personally, I think it's up to you guys. This RPG was created for the roleplayers, not for me. So, a vote?

PhQnix
8th November 2005, 7:59 AM
I vote for a restart, though I would like to keep our current ranks etc. I just feel that a resart would mean more new people would join.

Restart: 2 (Kidodi-Sempai, /\Triforce/\)

PhQnix
8th November 2005, 9:44 PM
No, it hasn't been deleted it's just that the forum is set too only display threads posted in within the last thirty days. As a saftey precaution incase the thread is pruned I now have all the information saved on my computer and I have located the thread. Does that mean you wish to restart the RP?

Sike Saner
8th November 2005, 10:19 PM
Restart, absolutely, so long as yes, we do keep all our ranks, Pokémon, etc. and are able to continue our respective storylines from where the old RPG thread left off. New sign-up sheet, new blood, and, hopefully, the revivfication of the RPG - maybe better than before, even. Yes.

I would probably prefer the PM way.

Saffire Persian

it's not the

Snorlax.

EDIT: to any and all TRs out there...

I was wondering if any of you would be interested in joining up with my character, maybe on assignment?

but it would be a covert op, not "GIMME ALL YOUR POKES!!!!" type of thing. Nobody outside TR knows that my character is a Rocket, and I intend to keep it that way. if you're interested, post here.

Keep in mind that currently I am the ranking Rocket in the RP (second tier, but still....:P), and that if you pull anything that my character doesn't like, she does have a bit of authority over you...:P

but she wouldn't do anything to you...unless you blew her cover or something like that.

if you're interested, go to page 17 (standard 20 posts/page, I believe...I have it on 40 posts/page, so...) of the old IC thread, and read her story. I'm gonna post it again in full (and a bit more!) once this thread gets going. if you guys are interested, lemme know.

btw, I'd have to finish up this assignment before having anyone join her. juse 'cause.
