After a tragedy on a local island, Sonic must live without the most annoying, yet most important person in his life. Will Tails and Knuckles help him recover himself?
Note: This is my second attempted fic here in the forums.
I'm only a novice writer and such...so yeah...
Although I'm pretty sensitive to some strong opinions. i accept advice and some critcisms (sp?)
Its rated PG for well, some violence and whatever.
And he we go *hides*
Chapter 1 - The unexpected loss.
The battle was set; Eggman had the ultimate weapon…(in his mind anyway…this always happened. The machines and such ended as rubble in the end.)
Sonic was fighting the last of the robots, Tails flying the Tornado, and Knuckles, well…
Working with Sonic.
It was the usual (and consistently boring) works. A few smashes here, a few crashes there.
A spin dash this and a smash-smash that.
Bla bla bla
Until something stepped out of the line. One of the most unexpected of events.
In the horizon, a pink figure could bee seen, holding some sort of brown substance.
“Sonic!” A girlish cry yelled from the distance.
Sonic knew this voice…as he heard it a million times before.
He sweatdropped.
“Amy! Now is not the time!” He yelled as he finished off another badnik.
“But Sonic I found them!!!”
”Found what?” Sonic had asked. Not knowing what she was on about.
“Sonic I found the Emeralds!!!”
Good Thought Sonic
“Where are they?”
Amy opened the bag, showing Sonic the 7 chaos emeralds she stole from Eggman.
”Thanks Amy!” Sonic complemented.
Amy smiled. She loved every bit when he said something nice to her.
She tried to hoist the bag over her shoulder, to get them to him. One fell out along the she was walking.
”Oh you stupid… emerald!” Amy complained, putting the bag down and picking the emerald up.
Sonic wiped his forehead as he polished off yet another badnik.
He looked behind him.
Uh oh…
“Amy don’t touch th-“
Too late.
She had the emerald in her hand. (Which wasn’t good by the way.)
”What Sonic?” Amy asked while not noticing the emerald glow in her hand.
Too late… Sonic cursed as he slapped himself for being so careless.
“Amy, drop the emerald quickly!!!” Knuckles yelled, as he saw what was going on.
“Wh-“
Amy didn’t know what was happening. She saw the boys looking at her in a weird as if she had dyed her fur or something.
A sudden glow had enveloped her. She rose into the air with the other emeralds rising as well.
Sonic was dumbstruck.
Amy? He thought as he was amazed at the golden ball of light hung in midair.
The emeralds circled around her as they got closer. A huge blast of light came as they clashed with her body.
The light dimmed a little.
Knuckles was staring at her too. Tails was as he flew around in the Tornado.
“Amy?” Sonic struggled to say. Still kinda stunned
She opened her eyes. And Sonic had a close look at her.
She had lighter and brighter fur, and her quills were lifted slightly to give a nice curl look.
Her eyes were gold. Shiniest Sonic had ever seen.
She just floated there. Glazing into mere space.
“Alright fools, your time has come!!!” A mean voice roared from the PA system.
The ground started to shake and wobbly as a huge machine erected from the ground.
“Oh what in the world is that?” Tails wondered.
They all paid their attention off Amy. Except Sonic.
“Amy?” He repeated.
The greyish-reddish coloured machine had two cannons, and the cockpit was on the top. It looked like it was over 30 feet.
“With this amount of power, they’d be no need for the Chaos Emeralds now…”
Eggman snickered as he rubbed his chin.
“I’ll need them later to destroy the world first.”
“What do you plan on doing now?” Amy asked. In a soft, serious-sounding tone.
Sonic just gawked at her still.
“Well, I’ll need to destroy all of you first.” Eggman remarked as he was looking for a certain button.
Amy gave a huff.
“Amy?”
”Einny meany miney mess…” Eggman recited, waving his index finger around his keyboard of buttons. “I wonder which button I will press?”
He finished wavering his finger. It landed on a big button that said “Fire”
“Ahh…now…who shall I destroy first?” He said as he looked at the group.
Tails knew who he was gonna aim for.
“Sonic, quickly get in!!!!” He cried out, as he had parked right next to Sonic.
Sonic still look intently at Amy.
“Eggman there is no way; you’ll be getting out of this alive…” Amy said calmly.
Eggman laughed.
“Is that right?”
Amy nodded.
“Well let’s see about that?” He began the launch.
“Ready all cannons! Open fire!!!”
The cannons changed positions…at Sonic’s position.
“Sonic move out of the way!!!” Tails yelled.
But Sonic wouldn’t budge. He still looked at Amy as if she were some sort of angel.
Amy looked at Sonic as the firing blazes headed for his blue body.
“Sonic!!!” Tails and Knuckles shouted in unison.
Amy moved her head to the side and cracked her neck.
“Not on my watch…”
Sonic felt the coming of blaze, its heat getting to him.
He shook his head.
“Sonic!!!”
Amy powered up. The golden glow becoming brighter by the second.
“I’ll save him…”
She sped in front of him, making it look like a teleport.
The blaze was just inches from reaching its target.
Amy put her hands in front of her. Palms facing the blaze.
Sonic and the others closed their eyes. Hoping it would miss…
It did.
The blaze had split in two. Not reaching the group at all as if there was of barrier surrounding the group.
It had encircled them all, but none of it hitting their objective.
A sweat drop appeared from her face.
“Now feel your own pain…”
She stuck out her hands and stretched her arms even more. She struggled against it.
The blaze was starting to move in the opposite direction.
“What’s going on?” Knuckles asked
“I dunno!” Tails responded.
The blaze very slowly started going backwards, heading back to the machine.
Amy was still putting up a fight for it. Now a vein showing upon her forehead.
“Take this!”
She recoiled herself, retrieving her hands.
Then let go…
The blaze shot back to the machine, engulfing it into flames.
Explosions could be heard from it. As do with bits and pieces flying all over the place.
Eggman sounded frustrated with all his moans and groans and the complaining to his loyal robots.
“You’re going to pay for this!” He yelled as he got away in his egg-like transportation.
Tails and Knuckles sighed with relief. Then Tails looked forward.
“Sonic?”
Sonic was doing the same thing he was before. A recited yet again the same word.
”Amy?”
Amy still was afloat in the air. But the golden glow that surrounded her weakened.
And her fur became darker to become what she was before.
She fell. And the emeralds had fled from her in all different directions.
Sonic ran up to catch her. He had a good look at her.
Scars and scratches around her body. Never had she been in a fight as big as this. Not with her…like this.
“Amy?”
This time she responded.
“Sonic I’m sorry.”
Sonic shook his head. “Why should you be sorry?”
A tear fell from her face…Sonic laid her down.
“I never should’ve touched that emerald…” she coughed out.
Sonic leant on his knees, gently stroking her hair. It was rough but calming.
“If you didn’t, I would’ve been a goner…” He proclaimed.
Amy coughed again.
“I shouldn’t have been here…I’ve always been the reckless one…”
Another warm tear fell from her runny eyes into Sonic’s lap.
“Amy, you saved all of us…you should feel happy…” Sonic explained as he swore he felt his eyes get teary.
Tails and Knuckles came up from behind.
”Yeah Amy…we can’t thank you enough!”
She coughed again…with blood included.
She must’ve used all her energy Sonic thought. Remember Sonic, she isn’t as strong as us…
“Come on, we have to take her to the hospital. And fast!” Knuckles suggested.
Sonic nodded. He picked up Amy, who’d look like she was gonna full under unconsciousness and sleep into the deep black darkness.
What would happen if she goes? Sonic thought as he gazed into her big, round eyes.
It would be all my fault…
Knuckles hopped into the passengers’ seat, while Sonic and Amy got on the wing.
“How long do you reckon it’s gonna take to get back?” Knuckles asked Tails.
“Probably an hour” Said Tails, looking at his watch and compass.
He then looked at Sonic, and Tails knew what would happen if it would take that long.
He swallowed. “Well, I’ll see if we can get there as fast as we can.”
That still didn’t make Sonic smile…even if speed was his favourite thing in the whole wide world. Not one inch of grin did Tails see with the naked eye.
“We’d better go…” Tails said, as started up the engine again, and flew off the island.
After they had flown about 20 minutes, Knuckles looked behind him.
“How is she?” He asked.
Sonic stroked her lovely pink hair.
“She’s asleep…” Sonic replied. Knuckles nodded.
“How much further?”
Tails looked again at his watch and compass.
“Well, considering we’re going at nearly full speed, we should be another 10 mi- uhhh I mean 5 minutes.” Tails answered, trying to go faster.
Sonic paid more attention to Amy.
Amy Rose, I need you to survive…
Another 3 minutes had gone past…and Tails could see land in the distance
“Here we are!!!” Tails said.
Sonic looked up from stroking Amy’s hair. Although he didn’t smile at the fact, he was kinda glad that they were almost home.
Amy, you’re gonna be alright
Tails had flown straight to the hospital.
When they landed in the front of the doors, Sonic shot straight of it, with Amy in his arms.
“He looks determined…” Knuckles assumed.
“Please help her…”
The nurse at the front desk nodded.
“Ok, people we need a stretcher for a pink hedgehog, stat!!!” She ordered as a doctor with a few others brought out one.
”Wait here sir.” Said the nurse to Sonic, as the doctor took Amy out of his arms.
“Please be ok…” he whispered under his breath, as he stood in the middle of the waiting room.
He remained in the room with Knuckles and Tails, very quiet and very eerie.
“You’d reckon she’s gonna be ok?” Tails asked.
No response.
“Sonic?”
“I don’t know ok Tails” Sonic replied loudly and rudely.
Tails face fell. He felt a palm on his shoulder.
“I think he needs time alone…” Knuckles suggested.
Tails took one last look at Sonic.
His eyes were red…Tails guessed he was trying not to cry.
He also knew Sonic didn’t want show his weak side…not something you would see every day of him.
Sonic tapped his fingers really hard a quickly on the coffee table with his left hand, and leant on arm rest with his right.
“Is HE gonna be ok?”
Knuckles sighed. He had one quick glance on Sonic as well. Same results as Tails.
“I’m pretty sure…but I’ve never seen Sonic act like this…”
It was true. Sonic was usually happy and full of energy, and often ran around the streets and mountains and cities for fun.
After all, Sonic was like one of those little kids who could not sit still. He was exactly like that.
But not at this time…
Tails nodded.
“Sonic?”
Sonic faced Tails.
“Would you like some time alone?”
He glanced into space again as he turned away. “Is that a yes?” Knuckles asked.
Tails nudged Knuckles. “Well…”
Tails didn’t want to leave his best buddy to rot by himself. He wanted to offer some support.
“We’re here for you Sonic…”
Silence.
Both of them sat on the couch in silence as well. And no one moved anywhere.
(Sonic’s POV)
Why am I leading her to die like this? I should’ve been the one saving her. Not letting her get in our regular fights with Eggman…
Maybe this wouldn’t of happened if I didn’t leave her with the emeralds…
But I could’ve died instead of her…
I would’ve accepted that. I can take Eggman’s heat. It’s easy as pie.
Man, I don’t know why I am caring so much? Is it because she was the one I kept running from?
Perhaps I was too afraid to admit it.
No no Sonic, this isn’t you. Why would you care for her this way if she is such a nuisance…
But I care for everyone, the majority of people depended on me to save them.
So, I take the responsibility for everyone’s safety.
Amy saved me. She saved all of us.
I’m surprised that she destroyed Eggman’s machine.
Something that big no one would ever destroy. Part from me and the others with a little…planning?
Wait a minute, we never plan. I never plan.
I never planned for this to happen to her. Now, because of that it’s costing her own life.
I really need to care of what I do in future…plan it.
Please Amy…be ok…
Well over ten minutes had passed until the doctor came in.
He stared straight at Sonic.
“She would like to see you now…”
Sonic nodded as he followed the scientist.
He saw her lying there. With her heart beat still going. But a bit wearily.
“Sonic is that you?” Amy whispered softly.
Amy moved her head to the door. Sonic went straight to her side.
“Yeah I’m here.”
Amy managed to show a weak smile. That smile gave Sonic a warm feeling... A hopeful feeling.
“I just wanted to tell the last time, I’m sorry…”
Sonic just shook his head. A drop fell from his face.
“Amy, you saved us…you saved me…” Sonic said, as his face fell.
Amy started to breath slowly.
“I just happy you’re… alive….” Amy coughed out.
Sonic just gazed at her fading eyes, as her eyelids struggled to lift themselves up.
He raised his arm, and held her hand.
”Squeeze to let me know you’re still here.” Sonic whispered to her ear.
Amy coughed again.
”Sonic…”
“Yeah?”
His grasp was tight…Sonic knew this wasn’t him, but he had to make sure. He just had to.
“Sonic?”
Sonic gulped. “Yes Amy?”
Amy stared at the big green things on his face.
”You have such pretty eyes…”

Oh please Amy, I’m telling you, don’t fade away like this…
I still have to tell you something.
I never really knew it until now…

Sonic has to know, I can’t stay here forever…I have to go sometime.
I still hate myself for being so careless.
And he still doesn’t understand how much I love him…
I was so stupid…I shouldn’t have chased him all these years…
Wanting him to marry me and such.
I know he doesn’t care for me…not one little bit.
But why in the world does he care for me now? I have been trying to suffocate him all this time I’ve known him.
Being trying to find him to the ends of the earth. How silly of me.
I reckon he is better off without me…
“Sonic…” Amy whispered.
Sonic wiped a tear from his eye. “Yes Amy?”
Sonic wasn’t about to give up yet. He wasn’t ready for it. He would give anything for her survival.
“Amy?”
Her heart beat went slower…all you could hear was the slow-sounding beeps on the monitor.
“Sonic…”
Amy put her other hand to her heart. Sonic’s was beating really fast now…
“Amy?”
With all the strength she had left…
“With my last breath, I want to tell you something…”
Sonic looked like he disagreed. This couldn’t be her last…
“Amy, you gonna be alright…” he cried out as he grasped her hand tighter.
She took one deep breath.
“I know, I have been…such an annoying person…” She whispered.
No, you haven’t Sonic thought.
“Well, I don’t know…if you care enough if I say this…”
I’ll take every bit seriously.
“Sonic…I…love…”
“Yes Amy?”
She tried to take another breath.
Although Amy tried to get him to be her husband, it still didn’t show much.
She often looked like a rabid fangirl.
“Sonic…I…”
“Amy?”
“Love…”
Nothing more was said.
“Amy?”
Sonic felt her hand slipping from his.
“Amy please answer me!!!” Sonic said anxiously.
Still no response.
He looked to the monitor.
A long beep sounded throughout the room.
Her eyes were shut.
Sonic couldn’t believe it.
“Amy…please no…”
Sonic shoved his face into the bed, and started sobbing.
Why?
“Sonic?”
Sonic looked behind him. It was Tails, with Knuckles standing behind him.
Tails looked around and understood the situation straight away.
“Sonic…” Tails said, as he put his hand on his shoulder.
Knuckles looked to the floor. Then back to Sonic.
“Sonic, if there’s anything we can do-”
Sonic looked at Knuckles. “Thanks for the offer man…” Sonic said in between sniffles.

Knuckles sighed. He had one quick glance on Sonic as well. Same results as Tails.
“I’m pretty sure…but I’ve never seen Sonic act like this…”
It was true. Sonic was usually happy and full of energy, and often ran around the streets and mountains and cities for fun.
After all, Sonic was like one of those little kids who could not sit still. He was exactly like that.
But not at this time…
Tails nodded.
“Sonic?”
Sonic faced Tails.
“Would you like some time alone?”
He glanced into space again as he turned away. “Is that a yes?” Knuckles asked.
Tails nudged Knuckles. “Well…”
Tails didn’t want to leave his best buddy to rot by himself. He wanted to offer some support.
“We’re here for you Sonic…”
Silence.
Both of them sat on the couch in silence as well. And no one moved anywhere.
(Sonic’s POV)
Why am I leading her to die like this? I should’ve been the one saving her. Not letting her get in our regular fights with Eggman…
Maybe this wouldn’t of happened if I didn’t leave her with the emeralds…
But I could’ve died instead of her…
I would’ve accepted that. I can take Eggman’s heat. It’s easy as pie.
Man, I don’t know why I am caring so much? Is it because she was the one I kept running from?
Perhaps I was too afraid to admit it.
No no Sonic, this isn’t you. Why would you care for her this way if she is such a nuisance…
But I care for everyone, the majority of people depended on me to save them.
So, I take the responsibility for everyone’s safety.
Amy saved me. She saved all of us.
I’m surprised that she destroyed Eggman’s machine.
Something that big no one would ever destroy. Part from me and the others with a little…planning?
Wait a minute, we never plan. I never plan.
I never planned for this to happen to her. Now, because of that it’s costing her own life.
I really need to care of what I do in future…plan it.
Please Amy…be ok…
Well over ten minutes had passed until the doctor came in.
He stared straight at Sonic.
“She would like to see you now…”
Sonic nodded as he followed the scientist.
He saw her lying there. With her heart beat still going. But a bit wearily.
“Sonic is that you?” Amy whispered softly.
Amy moved her head to the door. Sonic went straight to her side.
“Yeah I’m here.”
Amy managed to show a weak smile. That smile gave Sonic a warm feeling... A hopeful feeling.
“I just wanted to tell the last time, I’m sorry…”
Sonic just shook his head. A drop fell from his face.
“Amy, you saved us…you saved me…” Sonic said, as his face fell.
Amy started to breath slowly.
“I just happy you’re… alive….” Amy coughed out.
Sonic just gazed at her fading eyes, as her eyelids struggled to lift themselves up.
He raised his arm, and held her hand.
”Squeeze to let me know you’re still here.” Sonic whispered to her ear.
Amy coughed again.
”Sonic…”
“Yeah?”
His grasp was tight…Sonic knew this wasn’t him, but he had to make sure. He just had to.
“Sonic?”
Sonic gulped. “Yes Amy?”
Amy stared at the big green things on his face.
”You have such pretty eyes…”
(Sonic’s POV)
Oh please Amy, I’m telling you, don’t fade away like this…
I still have to tell you something.
I never really knew it until now…
(Amy’s POV)
Sonic has to know, I can’t stay here forever…I have to go sometime.
I still hate myself for being so careless.
And he still doesn’t understand how much I love him…
I was so stupid…I shouldn’t have chased him all these years…
Wanting him to marry me and such.
I know he doesn’t care for me…not one little bit.
But why in the world does he care for me now? I have been trying to suffocate him all this time I’ve known him.
Being trying to find him to the ends of the earth. How silly of me.
I reckon he is better off without me…
“Sonic…” Amy whispered.
Sonic wiped a tear from his eye. “Yes Amy?”
Sonic wasn’t about to give up yet. He wasn’t ready for it. He would give anything for her survival.
“Amy?”
Her heart beat went slower…all you could hear was the slow-sounding beeps on the monitor.
“Sonic…”
Amy put her other hand to her heart. Sonic’s was beating really fast now…
“Amy?”
With all the strength she had left…
“With my last breath, I want to tell you something…”
Sonic looked like he disagreed. This couldn’t be her last…
“Amy, you gonna be alright…” he cried out as he grasped her hand tighter.
She took one deep breath.
“I know, I have been…such an annoying person…” She whispered.
No, you haven’t Sonic thought.
“Well, I don’t know…if you care enough if I say this…”
I’ll take every bit seriously.
“Sonic…I…love…”
“Yes Amy?”
She tried to take another breath.
Although Amy tried to get him to be her husband, it still didn’t show much.
She often looked like a rabid fangirl.
“Sonic…I…”
“Amy?”
“Love…”
Nothing more was said.
“Amy?”
Sonic felt her hand slipping from his.
“Amy please answer me!!!” Sonic said anxiously.
Still no response.
He looked to the monitor.
A long beep sounded throughout the room.
Her eyes were shut.
Sonic couldn’t believe it.
“Amy…please no…”
Sonic shoved his face into the bed, and started sobbing.
Why?
“Sonic?”
Sonic looked behind him. It was Tails, with Knuckles standing behind him.
Tails looked around and understood the situation straight away.
“Sonic…” Tails said, as he put his hand on his shoulder.
Knuckles looked to the floor. Then back to Sonic.
“Sonic, if there’s anything we can do-”
Sonic looked at Knuckles. “Thanks for the offer man…” Sonic said in between sniffles.
