Hey everyone! I was wondering what kind of Stradegies you people come up with to Purify pokemon in the purifying Chamber! So did you come up with a good combo to get a High tempo AND flow?! I can only get the flow up to 4. Well, post the pokemon that you used in the Purifying Chamber!

Flow is something I'm not quite clear on. I've come within one partial bar of maxing it out, but that formula didn't work the next time I tried.
As for tempo, it's not that hard. Catch a bunch of Hoppips and use them as purification tools, in essence. You can also fill a room with Normal-types and max the tempo on out. You don't necessarily have to go with supereffective types all the time if you can afford to do those both.

cool! that is a great tip! I'll try that

To whoever has finished XD, I would like to ask them to list the Pokemon they used in the 9 sets in order to purify Lugia?
Example: 1st Pokemon, 2nd Pokemon, 3rd Pokemon, 4th Pokemon & of course the Pokemon in the middle.
Thanks in advance.

I simply rebattle trainers that I have defeated, or walk around.

I finished XD already, and I would like to help you with that question.. however.. I forgot all the Pokémon in all nine sets. But to purify Lugia, I believe you don't need a Shadow Pokémon in the middle of all nine sets 'cause I don't think I had one in each and every one. Just having full tempo in all nine sets will do it, and .. instantly. *wink*
And to Needs a Deoxys: I tried to do that but it was getting a bit.. overwhelming. Maybe you could, if you were more patient than I. But if you did what I did and left low levels still shadow, you can't battle any trainers (except Mt. Battle low levels) to purify them AFTER you beat the game. I had initially did the Colosseum purifying method, until I learned the order.
It's not really that hard, though I did have some difficulty.. I suppose it is. I had to also trade, but that was my mistake for not purifying most of them when I had the chance (before beating the game). But for the purify chamber, the four regular Pokémon should be in super effective to each other. And how you know is by the arrows of light pointing to the one it's super effective on.
Example: You choose regular Pikachu [Electric]. Pikachu's arrow points to something he IS super effective against. Then that one, which should be [Flying], should point to something that the [Flying] is super effective against, such as grass/bug/etc. For that, I would choose [Grass] because that can face a [Ground], since Pikachu [Electric] is weak to [Ground], so the [Ground] faces Pikachu [Electric]. Normally, I don't think the other type matters much but sometimes it does. But according to an NPC, the shadow Pokémon should face a regular Pokémon its moves are super effective on.. though I'm guessing the types rather. But I didn't always follow that, and I got them all purified.
Sorry if that's too confusing. =\ Hope that helps anyone.. For purifying Lugia, you just need full tempo in ALL nine sets.. no matter flow, I believe or if there's a Shadow Pokémon in each one.
Additionally, one of my set consists of: [Traded] Lanturn ~> Carvanha [Purified] ~> Starmie [Purified] ~> something else.. Probably a ground type for Lanturn.

Thanks Eievui, but I'm still quite confused about how to purify Lugia. Sorry.

Well, have you beaten the game? I assume you did, which is the reason you're asking.
Well, if you'll hear me out.. you don't really need to worry too much about Lugia. I know you're probably itching to use him in battle and all, but first just get your other shadow Pokémon purified. When you have, set up the Purify Chamber as I said with ALL nine sets in FULL tempo. I gave everyone an example for one set in purify chamber. Since there's no Pikachu there, you could always use Voltorb/Electrode or Magneton or something for Electric type in that example.

Lol Purifying Chamber. Can't remember the last time I used the blasted cheating device =/
But anyway, when I used it to Purify Lugia, I just placed all the Pokémon I Purified previously in it and aligned them as best I could. Sometimes I took one out and placed it in different SETs to see the effect(helped a lot).

Will, for example, Ludicolo work (like hoppip), even if grass isn't Super effective to it?
And how about dragons?
Maybe I have got all of this wrong...
Carpetted!
24th November 2005, 6:30 PM
Well, Eki master, let me put it this way...
It would work on ludicolo. Same on pokemon like Lileep - One type needs to be super effective on another type, and the other types don't matter.

Well, it can work for any types. It could be good facing ground types and rock, and anything it's super effective on. Like Floored! said, one type is enough though sometimes double the super effective-ness work.. but not always.
And dragons can face other dragons, or have the other type be facing what its super effective on. For example, Salamence [Dragon/Flying] could face grass, bug, etc. or Dragonite [Dragon/Flying]. Or an ice Pokémon can face the dragon types. I put the order of super effective-ness in my first post here (this thread), and how it works. Any questions, you can ask here or PM..
And Icemewtwo, this thread has nothing to do with Mt. Battle so why are you talking about it here?

I said it was a purifying method to speed up the process ok though it is off topic!

Answering an earlier question, I purified Lugia with no other Shadow pokemon in any other set.
Also you only have to consider Super Effectives, so an electric will still count as SE facing a Gligar's flying type, despite it also being ground.

@ Sonata Arctica: Well, yes, that could work.. Purifying Lugia doesn't require any shadow Pokémon in the sets, as long as they're full tempo. As if to show shadow Pokémon/moves aren't the most powerful..
The best advice I could say is to just try and know your types super effective against who and who. But remember, try not to use someone in your party unless you have a back up Pokémon (or more).
And if you're still early in the game, you don't have to worry too much about it. It'd just be a lot easier for you with the Purify Chamber with the myriad shadow Pokémon and all. But don't spend all day trying to figure it out. Here are some sets I used.. though it has some trade, and it may not entirely make sense. O_o
1. Lanturn --> Carvanha --> Starmie --> Dugtrio (I think.. or something with ground)
2. Articuno --> Zapdos --> Moltres --> Mawile (I think that's the order.. the birds are something like that, but I'm pretty sure Mawile was there, lol.)
Anyway, you shouldn't just copy others' sets because they probably use a different team than you. And a different starter as well, so choose a set wisely and be sure it's gets to maximum tempo. =] And purification isn't the end of the game either.

In my game, I got all the sets to the maximum tempo before I got Lugia.
I had around 60 pokemon purified at that time so I had no problem.

I have a set of Magneton > Gligar > Shroomish > Numel, so it's only Super Effectives that apply, not Unaffectives or Not Very Effectives.

Well, I never tried that but I guess it could work.. though they only allowed four regular Pokémon and one shadow in the center.

4 Dratinis would work, since each dratini is super effective against the next. That'd work for ghosts too.

Well, I don't have time to catch 36 of the same Pokemon. I just use what combos I have, and although I am only at the part where you free Megg in the ONBS station, I have 3 chambers that have maximum tempo. Has anyone gotten maximum flow?

oh i just thourt of this but you can fill the chambers with normal types and still get full tempo.

all u really need to do is catch a LOT of hoppips (flying+grass=BOOM) or gligars (ground+poison=BOOM) and line them up however u want cuz of their own STAB.

Uh.. Gligar is Flying/Ground.. not Poison.
Why do so much work when you can just use normal Pokémon you have already..? It's not that hard trying to find those that are super effective against or weak to. =\
My boyfriend just got the snag machine back from Team Snagnem.. because I always hog the Gamecube for my record, but he already has 5 full tempo. Six incoming.. or maybe I'm one less. But still, it's not that hard. ;/

Not everyone's rich to buy 181242134327 Pokésnacks and catch 45 Hoppips. And are you referring to me? I just corrected you that Gligar is not poison when you said Gligars.. in the same sentence as four Hoppips. Also, some people would like to capture/find other Pokémon than wasting Pokéballs/snacks on Hoppips.
@pokemon master:Stranger: Yes.. you don't need a shadow Pokémon in every set to purify Lugia. You just need max. tempo in all nine sets. And yes, they have to be purified/regular/traded.
@Mudkip3: That's pretty good.. but the flow doesn't really affect Lugia.. because it's just the tempo. Flow is for purification process time, but no, I haven't.. I did however get a flow that was faster than normal/average for mine.

im on citidark isle or whatever the last place is called, not too far through, and all my sets are maxed out by pokemon i snagged (i hate that pokespot thing, although i did catch a surskit to trade for a shuckle). In case you were wondering, heres what i have in the purify chambers.
Set 1: Spinarak->hondour->mawile->lunatone
Set 2: carvana->duskull->ralts->makuhita
Set 3: numel->grimer->shroomish->seel
Set 4: pineco->baltoy->flaafy->spearow
Set 5: voltorb->shellder->vulpix->swinub
Set 6: venemoth->hypno->weepingbell->nosepass
Set 7: arbok->paras->poocheyna->natu
Set 8: magneton->snorunt->butterfree->primeape
Set 9: beedrill->tangela->golduck->growlithe
yes, that took me a very long time to write out.
Also, when i first read about how the purify chambers work, my immeadiate thought was "Oh, well lets go catch dratinis then!" but it all worked out and i didnt have to spend insane amounts of time in the safari zone/breeding.
