Is money good, or is it bad? Should we have money or should we get rid of it? This question made me lose sleep, so I need opinions! Realizing that everyone will probably want money to stay, I have divied up the reasons you might want money and you might not!
Pros:
Is an international unit of trade
Is easy to create/handle
If you put it in a bank, it grows!
Trading results in arguments
Cons:
It is easy to create, so criminals can make fakes!
It is easier to haggle things when you're trading
Money is easy to steal, you could keep thousands of dollars in your pocket
There are a lot more reasons for both sides. Discuss.

Money makes the world go round. While some people have found ways to abuse it, it generally acts as a good way for people not to exploit the fruits of civilization without contributing to it themselves as well. Without money, you would have many more people leeching off of society without actually doing anything to assist it.

Well gee. Seeing as you need money to function in this world, I'd say it's pretty damn important. <_<

personally, i hate money, it only causes problems...
in the end, is it really going to matter how much money we had??

I'm saying that while money is convenient and all, it is also really easy to abuse, like Eszett said, what with money counterfeiters, bank robbers, identity thieves, etc. running rampant.

we have to have money, i mean then why would we work? everybody would just get everything free and games not being developed cuz there's no gaining anything. in my opinion there shouldn't be it just teaches people to be more greedy.

Kirby... we'll trade, we won't be giving things away.

Trading things is much more inefficient than using a standard unit of money.

I say we all ditch money and live off the land. Loincloths are the way to be

Somehow, meowth and slash, I have the feeling you aren't being serious. Either that, or you're really very odd.

Money is easy to abuse as opposed to... what? I mean, people can steal baskets or corn just as much as they could money. But fiat money is a much easier, more efficient way to barter. Take economics, then you'll understand why money exists and we need it.

With out money. Nothing would get done. I mean DR’s would not work. And stuff.

Tell us one thing, Floored! What the hell would we do without money?

Currency is a much more effective way of trade than bartering. If money is ineffective, then it would never have been invented.

A basket of corn is, what? 10 dollars tops? It would be much easier to steal millions of dollars and hide it.
Tell us one thing, Floored! What the hell would we do without money?
We'd trade, Clammy.

Like cave men... why the hell would we want to go backwards in time?!!

Money gives us an easy way to measure something's worth and gives us an easy way to pay for it.

While money, indeed, causes 99% of the problems on this world, you can't deny that it's the better system to date. >__>;; Money makes the world go around, and, while it isn't the most important thing, it is needed to keep balance. Society would completely die if it was taken out like that.

If stealing money is so easy why don't go go and rob Bill Gates? And then hide it because you know how easy that is.

Floored, trading is a thing of the past and is much more difficult and innificient(sp?). Try imagining going to the grocery store, carrying a whole bundle of things you own and the hassles of having to say "Ok! Ill give you this CD for those bananas and that turkey" and then having to go through a system of haggling for everything! Simple shopping would take weeks! And do you realize how difficult it would be for the low class to live? Are they going to be paid in apples and having to live off bartering them?

Money provides a good concrete source of commerce and it flows through th economy much more simpler. Yes, money can be evil if a person dedicates there whole life to only wanting money and being greedy and going to criminal ways, but not everyone is like that! Money is only bad if you want it to be.

If your truly want to stop using money, I highly suggest you take all of your possessions with you next time you go to the Grocery Store and see how much fun life without money is.

At some point in the future, perhaps people will become develloped enough to accept that everyone helps everyone else and people will overcome greed and take only what they need. Once society has evolved to this point, I feel we will have no need for money, but not yet, because there is still a lot of selfish greed and inequality in our society, not to mention people who would abuse a "take what you need as long as you put something back" mindset. Think Star Trek, where the concept of money has been abandoned within the federation.

We would have something other than grocery stores then!

Money is a sham! It's pieces of paper and coins that are worth a lot, which is all fine and dandy but it's much easier to steal/counterfeit then, say, a basket of corn.
And do you realize how difficult it would be for the low class to live? Are they going to be paid in apples and having to live off bartering them?

The low class would be better off without money imo. The rich just get richer and the poor just get poorer.
EDIT: I haven't watched star trek yet :(

Pros:
Is an international unit of trade
True, however exchange rates can kill.
Is easy to create/handle
True again.
If you put it in a bank, it grows!
>_>
Trading results in arguments
How is this an upside? Trading only results in arguements if one party decides the trade isn't fair, which is caused by selfishness etc. and not the money itself. Although the money is the catalyst.
Cons:
It is easy to create, so criminals can make fakes!
It is also illegal to make fake cash and most money forgers are usually found out within 5 days.
It is easier to haggle things when you're trading
That's an upside. Cheaper goods = Upside.
Money is easy to steal, you could keep thousands of dollars in your pocket
Yes but using common sense, you wouldn't do so.

Red writing and stuff.

Oh and;
Money gives us an easy way to measure something's worth and gives us an easy way to pay for it.
Magcargo ftw~

Debate over. :)

Yeah but we are scared to see you in one :P

Seriosally though;

I don't really like money, but until everyone becomes perfect and will help oneanother with no reserves blah, blah, blah.... we can't get rid of it and still maintain and easily measured way for an objects worth.

Money in my mind is a neccesary evil for our type of society.

Coins are harder to counterfeit than paper.

The low class would be better off without money imo. The rich just get richer and the poor just get poorer.
There is a place without money. It's called jail.

Example on why shipping is hard to pay for when you barter:
Consumer: I'll give you my iPod if you give me those fish and chips.
Cashier: The boss already has an iPod!
A while later
Consumer: I'll give you a Plasma TV for the fish and chips.
Cashier: You will have to pay for shipping to get the TV here.
Consumer: Uh, a couch?
Cashier: The shipping for that?
Consumer: My table?
Cashier: The shipping for that?
A while later
Consumer: My house?
Etc.

The only reason I don't like money is because I want to cheat the system!

Money is essential. Apart from exchange rates which I believe we shouold abolish, and use an international currency, money is good in all ways. Its your own efforts. If there was no money, people could get whatever they want... Actually no. The world would not work. Think about all the consequences from the absense of money. What you work for is what you should receive. The more you work, the more you should receive. You can't have people doing nothing, having the same as whatever someone who works twice as hard as him. Meh, I never make sense. Just... ugh I cannot believe people are saying ditch money.
