Nintendo Japan has issued a recall notice for two of its latest DS games, the Chunsoft co-developed Mysterious Dungeon spin-offs, Pokemon Fushigi no Dungeon Blue/Red Rescue Team.

We picked up on unconfirmed reports last week that data was being corrupted or lost at various points in the games, with the all-important data-transfer elements being the most dangerous times to lose game progress and Pokedex.

Nintendo has confirmed the fault today, announcing a recall of the games and offering a free exchange of the first-generation of cartridges for revised versions it is currently manufacturing.

The problem stems when the cartridges are exchanged between Nintendo DS units. From what we can gather, the power being left on (as per the game’s instructions) flashed the game cartridge, resetting it completely and leaving thousands of Pokefans hours of lifetime in the red.

Oh no, please make the front page..please make the front page!

It's not that big a deal. Just watch what you have in the GBA slot.

Edit: Actually, spong seem to be misleading. The story I have seen everywhere else is that Pokémon Mysterious Dungeon Red is the only game not affected, while any other cartridge will have its back-up save file deleted. Since Mysterious Dungeon Blue is the only version with the glitch, that is the only one being recalled.

Wow - atleast they caught it. Hopefully none of yall got the game for the DS because you would probably be screwed.

EDIT: Actually, I think its fake. Dont u think this sort of thing would be on Chunsoft's Frontpage under the news section or on Nintendo of Japan's site?...totally fake

Ack, it seems that everything these days are losing quality. :(

Well, I suppose most people here either have the red version for the GBA or the rom version of it *suspicious*, which would explain why no one has encountered the problem yet.

Well, Gamespot has the news up as well. It's more clear in this article, well at least the one provided, as to what caused the erased games.

TOKYO--In Japan, Nintendo has sent a warning to consumers that the latest Pokemon game for the DS, Pokemon: Fushigi no Dungeon Blue, may accidentally wipe out saved data on Game Boy Advance cartridges. The company will be shipping out bug-free replacements soon.

Nintendo simultaneously released two versions of Fushigi no Dungeon on November 17 in Japan; one for the DS (Fushigi no Dungeon Blue), and one for the GBA (Fushigi no Dungeon Red). The DS version accesses the handheld's GBA slot so that if the player also has the GBA version inserted, they can play with data from the cartridge. However, a problem with the game can delete saved data if an unrelated GBA game is present in the slot instead.

Nintendo states that the issue can be avoided by making sure that unrelated GBA games aren't inserted in the DS while playing Fushigi no Dungeon Blue, and also says that there are no issues as long as the GBA game is Fushigi no Dungeon Red. But for consumers that are having problems, the company will replace their copy of Fushigi no Dungeon Blue with a free fixed edition, which is expected to ship around December 8. Consumers can apply online for the replacement on Nintendo's official Web site.
