View Full Version : Most unfortunate things that have happened to you in Pokémon Crystal/Silver/Gold

Well, the most, most, most unfortunate thing that happened to me was this:
I had almost all the Legendaries (all of them in Lv. 100), I only needed Mew and Celebi.
I was going to catch Celebi, I went to the Woods, and suddenly, my dog came running and my GameBoy fell to the floor. I picked it up and in the screen it said:
"The Internal Memory of your game has been corrupted, you cannot CONTINUE."
Now my team is:
Meganium: Lv. Lv. 80
Delibird: Lv. 70
Houndoom: Lv. 73
Donphan: Lv. 69
Magneton: Lv. 67
Lanturn: Lv. 69

Me: Aaaargh
;006; Take it easy!
Me: What?!! I hope you were deleted too!!!
;006; What? You... you... you don't care about me?
Me: What? Oh, sorry I didn't mean to...

I don't think anything can be worse than losing an important save file (e.g. a file with a nearly completed Pokedex or several Lv.100s). ;)

Well, I lost a save file too. One day I just switched my gameboy off and the next time I opened it, I saw my save file had mysteriously disappeared. What's worse is that I had 3 Lv.100s and a good amount of Pokemon in my dex.

Yeah true, nothing worse than a deleted file, one day i just turned on my gameboy and it just said start new game, it didn't say continue game. I just don't know how it hapened, i could distinctly remember saving the game. Oh well.

I was duplicating my chansey and I screwed up and it got deleted and I had to catch another. No real biggie for you but chansey is hard to catch yano. ;/

Yeah, my Silver game kept on doing the same thing. I got so fed up with it that I called Nintendo and the lady told me that I should wait 10 seconds after saving before turning it off. I lost a TON of good Pokemon including a Hypno and a Meganium which were REALLY strong.

I was Duplicating a Serebii for my cousin(even thoug I got it with a game code). But anyways when I trade the duplicated Serebii the game just courppted(did I spell that right if not oh well) and mine and my cousin's file was deleted. Did that happend because I used a cheat code Serebii or what.

The worst thing that happened to me was in Crystal, when it came time for the cave that led to Blackthorn City. I got the boulders wrong, and they wouldn't reset. I then left the game alone (until I restarted it again last month) because I don't think I could have gotten any farther.

Please, please, for GOD'S SAKE, could you even ATTEMPT to spell correctly? Run it through a damn spell check please. Every single one of your posts are barely understandable.

On Topic,
Worst thing that has ever happened to me would have to be the one time that I lost my Silver version at a Christmas party. It was gone for about two weeks before, by sheer luck, I randomly asked one of my neighbors if she had seen a GBA cart. She The woman said she spotted it on the floor after the party was finished and decided to keep it safe untill the rightful owner asked for it.

Got it back and STILL PLAY IT to this day!

The worst thing that happened to me, by far, was when my Silver version stopped working after duplicating too many times. It still had the original save file, that is, WHEN IT WAS WORKING. It would even freeze while I was playing.

Once I had beat a gym, and evolved like three pokemon and leveled them up a bunch, and my batteries died as I was saving it.
Another time the batteries died just after I caught Articuno, but that was in a different game.
I've really got to spring for good batteries, instead of bulk packages at the dollar store. :P

When my pokemon gold got corrupted (at the weekend when a seven year old and a three year old came to stay... *pulls out hair*), I hadn't completed much of the pokedex, BUT it had a MAX IV lapras and a shiny onix in it!!!

Well, I, too, have an unfortunate happening...
I was kind of young, and pokemon was much harder for me (WHAT DO YOU MEAN, balanced team?!? Was my theory.) Anyway, my dad and brother and I were driving up to connecticut, and so I pulled out gold for the ride. After much luck/critical hits/2 hours of gameplay, I finally beat Pryce! ( I guess leveling up didn't really occur to me.) So I walk out of the gym, and before I could save, the game shuts itself off! I realized that the little annoying red light had gotten very dima nd i hadn't noticed. And I took me another hour to beat pryce again. Needless to say, I am now a very obsessive saver.

Nothing too bad, I guess the only thing is that when I was playing Gold and I was just about the defeat the second last person in the Pokemon League (forgotten who it was, I think it was Agatha) when the power ran out. Shows that you can never play on low battery. I was 8 then and I was using a GBC if I recall correctly.

My saving files on Silver got erased when I turned it on. I was pretty mad. I had all 250 pokemon (excluding Celebi) and a bunch of lvl 100s. I had to restart all over again. That's happened about 4 years ago.

My entire Silver cartridge got erased. Good thing is, I couldn't remember what I had on it. XD But I knew I had beaten the game, so it still sucked.

And just yesterday I was making a trade with myself, and one of the games froze up and deleted my red Gyarados!! Grrr I was p*ssed.

I had found out something interesting while playing Stadium 2: an entire box full of Pokémon in one of my versions had been duplicated! I had no idea how this happened, but I wanted to try and do it again. So I took my box of Legendary Pokémon and put it onto my Crystal version, where I was at Red.
And on the Stadium 2, I tried to do the same cloning trick you do with Gold/Silver, turning the game off as I transfered the box from the game from Crystal to Stadium 2.
And my entire Crystal version got deleted. How fun.

My friend's game also got deleted. She had been at the Ice Cave, battled a wild Pokémon, then turned the game off, and it was deleted. :P

Shiny Heracross
15th January 2006, 6:02 AM
On my first ever time to the Elite 4 on G/S/C, I made it to Lance and lost. Luckily I saved before that and didn't save after, so I just tried again, but kept losing. So my friend asked to borrow it for a day. I told him not to save it if he lost, because you lose money when you lose battles. But the little snot didn't listen, (he's 2 years younger than me) and when I got it back, I noticed I had absolutely no money! He told me he saved after losing, and I was so freakin mad! Since I was all the way back at the beginning of the Elite Four, I didn't have any money to buy enough Potions to work my way back through. So I had to spend another week training to level 100 all because of him!

Well I had just found out about Shiny Pokemon, heck, I was still on the internet reading about them, then I ran into my first shiny: Nidoran F. I know, lucky. But about a week later I bought a Gameshark and figured Shiny Pokemon were nothing too special if I could get whichever ones I wanted via the Gameshark. Eventually I deleted my first ever legit shiny :(. I haven't cheated since.

A download for your computer that can play games.

GBA Emulator = GBA Roms, etc

You can download them for free and stuff, though it aint that great if you have a slow computer.

And to stay on topic, my unfortunate thing was losing my Level 100 Meganium on Silver. -Sobs-

My most unfortunate thing was when I had 248 pokemon (I just missed an omanyte and those little mew and celebi - I hate those 3) and a great party with lv100 pokemon and lots of shinies. I still regret when I tried to do the time reset trick and instead I did the Savefile reset trick. The yes-no pop up was inverted (the yes down and the no up) so I accepted to erase my file. Idiot me :'(

23rd January 2006, 3:07 AM
I lost my Crystal version and never found it, I accidently deleted my level 95 Feraligatr, my friend used a Game Shark and got Mew, Celebi, and all those other Pokemon we needed and idiot me didn't know how to use the new memory card and erased them when she traded them to me and her file dissappeared before I could get them again, and later, my file with my level 100 Typlosions vanished. And I've lost many shinies in these accidents! *sobs*

Not on subject really, but what is an emulater?
Here's a little more, because I specialise in these things.
You can download the emulators on your PC that can run certain things. I have a fruit machine emulator, that will run fruit machines from real life on it.

To play an emulator, you'll need the game layout and ROMs. Without the layout, you're stuffed because you will not be able to see anything, as the layout is the game screen. Without the ROMs, it's worse because they run the game and control what happens.

If you wanted to make an emulator, you need the codes, however this may not be possible due to complications in making, or legal reasons.
I hope this long, monopolising conversation has explained a little more!

And to keep this on topic, I first accisentally deleted slash fom Feraligatr's moveset, and then, after a difficult struggle to get Ho oh's health to real low without slash, I found out I had no Poke balls!

Serebii93
1st February 2006, 12:50 AM
Jakurata, can you pm me all of the details and instructions about ROMS? To keep on subject,
I put my Ho-Oh in the daycare for awhile and the stupid people grew it to lv. 55 and I lost the move Fire Blast for a friggin Sunny Day. He was my only Ho-Oh!

I remember it like it was yesterday... I had only been playing my Silver version a short time, having beat it, I decided to transfer my beloved Charizard over from my original Pokemon Red. I had raised it all the way to 100 and it was my pride and joy... Much to my dismay... It turned out to be female...

The worst thing that happened to me in the G/S/C games was on my Gold game, when I encountered a shiny Abra. I didn't have a Pokémon in the lead that could put it to sleep, so I just had to try and catch it. I threw an Ultra Ball at it, it popped out, used Teleport, and I never saw it again!! XD

One of the funnier things that happened to me was trying to find Heracross. I had no idea that it appeared in a few select trees, (I knew the difference between "forest" area and "mountain" area trees, but I didn't know that even in the mountain trees, there were only certain trees that Heracross would appear in after using Headbutt.) so for about two weeks I kept trying to shake a Heracross out of the same tree, before I went online to seek help finding Heracross. Meanwhile, I had found two shiny Spearow while I was looking for a Heracross. Then, when I finally found out that I had to check different trees, I finally found a Heracross tree, only to have it run away from me!! I was pretty mad, I thought it was going to take me anothe rmonth to find it again. However, I was pleasantly surprised that Heracross has a very good appearance rate in the trees that it can be Headbutted from.

:o

WHY Would you be dismayed about it being Female!?!?!

It's a VERY good thing becasue you can breed it to get Egg moves on Charmander!!!

I'd crap my pants if I got a Female RGBY Starter without breeding.

*coughsexistcough* Gender does not effect stats or anything...

Anyways, my biggest disapointment is the Celebi Event being "taken out" in the English Crystal ;_;

I want a legal Celebi...

Stardust25

I can't find a Heracross. What tree did you find him in?

Heracross is a little like Feebas is in Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald. I found mine in Gold version on the Route next to Mahogany Town where the Apricorns are. Heracross will only appear in the trees that Spearow and Aipom can be found in. Unfortunately, the individual trees that Heracross are in will be different in everybody's game. A good idea would be to Headbutt a tree until you encounter at least 3 wild Pokémon, and if you don't find a Heracross, move on to another tree. You will find it eventually, you just gotta be patient.

*coughsexistcough* Gender does not effect stats or anything...

Actually, in G/S/C, gender does effect stats. In every Pokémon species that can be either Male or Female, gender is decided by the Pokémon's Attack DV. since ShinobiGhost got a female Charizard, and Charizard has an 87.5% chance of being male, then it means that his Charizard has an attack DV of either 0 or 1, which basically means that the Charizard will have an attack stat that is 28-30 points less then the maximum for a Charizard. Since Charizard has a max stat of 267 for attack, this means that even with full stat experience training, his Charizard will only have an attack stat of 237-239.

Worst thing...

Ok, mine would have to be the erasing of my Silver save-file. I got a legal Celebi that I won in a competition from NOM (back in it's N64/GBC days) and I had an almost full Pokedex. (I always distinctly remember I had 245 Pokemon owned in my 'Dex.)

Then one day I let a friend use my GBC, so I took out my Silver and put it in the top pocket of my school jacket. There were crumbs from something I'd put in there (like a chocolate bar or a cookie or something) and I guess it must've messed up the contacts on the cart because when I put it back in, and turned it on a message came up saying my data was corrupt and had been deleted.

I was so bummed.

What is it with little kids being able to delete stuff without even realising it! They say 'I'm going on your computer' and manage to delete your whole My Computer file!

Anyway, don't know whether this counts as unfortunate, but I have never got a male baby from the odd egg thay give you at the daycare centre on Crystal. I've only EVER got Igglybuff, Cleffa and Smoochum, throughout the whole 4 or 5 years that I've been playing it!

The most unfortunate thing that has ever happened to me is when my Crystal version got ruined. I spent 250+ hours beating it. I had a complete Pokedex, several shinies and 8 level 100 Pokemon. The game got swept away when a hurricane hit 2 years ago. My house got flooded and it took my game with it. I was so upset about it. I spent so much time raising my Pokemon without using any cheats and catching everything. The only thing I cheated on was catching Celebi and Mew. I had no way of getting a legal, so I had to cheat just for those 2 to fill my Pokedex up.

I had just moved on from the 3rd gen to start playing Silver again. I wasn't used to the backwards game mechanics. I was so excited when my Hoothoot reached Level 11 and learned Peck. Then I beat Falkner. I acquired TM31: Mud Slap, and went to teach it to my Hoothoot.

Now, I was used to Sapphire version where it waits for a second to display which move you want to replace. This is not the case in Silver. So I accidentally delete Peck for Mud-Slap. -.-

I leant my friend Gold version for the night, and he leant me Crystal. When I got the game back the next day, my prized Ampharos had been taught Thunder via TM. Not so bad? Well. He used all of my money but $215 (the money on hand and with Mom) on that Thunder TM. I couldn't even buy a Great Ball!

I was so mad, I did the worst possible thing on his Crystal I could think of.
I renamed his male Dragonite 'Princess' and his male Houndoom 'Sweetie', beat the Pokemon League and had the names saved forever into the records. You have to rememeber I was only eight then. *laughs*

After I got Ruby my 5 year old brother started borrowing my crystal.
One day i saw him play he had a cyndaquil. But I started with a totodile... I had never traded for one either... I turned the GBC off and on again and found out he had erased 200+ hours of play, 40 beatings of the elite 4, a legit lvl 100 mew, my lvl 100 ice beaming feraligatr, an almost completed dex, all 16 badges, a mewtwo, a lvl 70 nidoking, a lvl 60 suicine and some other stuff... I was mad at him for two or three days...

My Silver cart with a legitimately completed Pokédex, 250+ hours, and several legit shiny monsters DISSAPEARED from my room, along with my GBC. Yes, I am ******.

a nearly finished silver cart and my only GBC with 40 blanks in the pokedex just poofed off my dresser one day before my older brother left one day
(I think i know how it poofed away)

The most unfortunate thing that has ever happened to me is when my Crystal version got ruined. I spent 250+ hours beating it. I had a complete Pokedex, several shinies and 8 level 100 Pokemon. The game got swept away when a hurricane hit 2 years ago. My house got flooded and it took my game with it. I was so upset about it. I spent so much time raising my Pokemon without using any cheats and catching everything. The only thing I cheated on was catching Celebi and Mew. I had no way of getting a legal, so I had to cheat just for those 2 to fill my Pokedex up.

I was just looking through this and I saw your post and I just thought. I would be a little more upset about my house being flooded.

Anywho I just got a crystal. I started thinking it was fake when I hatched a Shiny lvl 100 Tyranitar from the egg that was supposed to have togepi in it.
I think it was unfortunate that I wasted all that money!!!

When I first got my Silver game, I was at the Elite 4 but couldn't beat Lance. My only good Pokemon were my Level 80 or so Meganium, my Level 60 or so Dunsparce, my Level 40 or so Sudowoodo, and my Level 20 or so Shiny Gyarados. (These are only predictions.) I lent my game to my friend, and when I got it back, he got rid of everything except my Meganium, Sudowoodo, and Gyarados, which were the only "Once Encounterable" Pokemon I'd had so far. But he got rid of my Dunsparce and and all the Pokemon in my box, and I was so mad. He told me that he tried to beat the Elite 4 with all them, but failed. So he just got rid of them. He did finally manage to beat the Elite for my leveling up my Meganium, so I only yelled at him, instead of killing him like I would have. This was the early days of my game though, and he only got rid of a bunch of crap.

This didn't happen ON my Gold version, per se, but to the cartridge itself. We had rented a van and drove down to Disney World. I left my Gold version in the rented van, and my dad returned it. By the time I had realized what had happened, it was too late. And I had some very good Pokemon on there, too.

I was searching for a Yanma, but I found Entei and Suicune instead. Although some might think that's a good thing, I still didn't get my Yanma! -.-

The most unfortunate thing that happened to me was when I used the "Change Gender" glitch in my Crystal Version. At first, I thought that it'd be cool, but when I lost all of my Pokemon in my PC, I was really disappointed. ;_;

Lemme see, hm...

Well, I am always vigilant when playing my game, so really, nothing bad, excpet I do recall once thinking I ran accidentally from a shining pkmn, although I will never know for certain whether it was indeed shining or not...

What is it with little kids being able to delete stuff without even realising it! They say 'I'm going on your computer' and manage to delete your whole My Computer file!

When I was 6, I did things like that on purpose. :p. But sometimes I remembered it wasn't a good idea.

On topic, I don't remember anything very bad happening. Besides my lost Typhlosion.

He(the Typhlosion) was level 80, with great moves and it was my only decent Pokémon. The rest were all behind 30 (come on, I was a kid!). Once, I saw it wasn't in the party. I looked in the box. No Typhlosion. I looked in the day care. Nothing. I had a Cyndaquil egg though. But I don't use him on my completely new and very balanced party.

Oh, and the shiny Wild Abra. He only had teleport and my Ultra Ball missed.

My silver(when it was still working :'-( ) got washed in the washing machine. I was really freaking out because I just beat the elite 4 and it took forever. Anasingly, it still worked. Lucky me it still worked. Then the next day, when I went to play it, it said " The save file has been corrupted". I was like HOLY SMOKE!
I tried to save, but it failed and that's how my silver stopped working. I had about 7 lv. 100 pokemon and Lugia and Ho-oh!

Most unfortunate?

The fact that my data deleted itself two days ago...

No worries, I'll start over and get Pokemon I don't normally use.
