Yeah ARs come with a lot of preset codes. But there are more provided by the manufacturer and user created codes as well. Not sure if Gameshark is the same.

Both Gamesharks and ARs use codes that the user can input. They're basically the same thing. ARs are more popular now, I've never seen a Gameshark around.
