Wow, I've found the maps too - if you're using Goldmap 1.3 (or higher I guess) the maps are under the 'Other' category as a load of Question Marks.

And I got this from an original Gold ROM - no editing done to it.

So yes, the maps are real. It does seem they were betas just left in. Interesting.

I'm going to have a go at editing warp points to see if I can actually get to the maps.

Gulzar, seeing as I'm too lazy to go hunt the maps down, did the maps come with an event set?

To answer your question Locke Yggdrasill, Goldmap 1.3 and higher doesn’t have an event set for those maps. I have looked through the programming quite a bit in hopes of finding the event set, but to no avail. This lack of sets makes me think that the maps were left in the game without any event sets.

Meh, I wonder if there are any other maps. Have you completed your search?

I believe that I have found almost all of the maps that are still in Pokémon Gold and Silver. Here is a list of what I hope to find and what would be incredible to find:

I hope to find:
Part or all of Pokémon Tower
A little more of Kento’s Radio Tower

I wish I would find:
A real Viridian Forest
Part of Seafoam Islands
A complete Cinnabar Island
Cinnabar Island’s abandoned Lab
The Underground Path from outside of Lavender Town to the outside of Celadon City
Part or all of Silph Co.
Part of all of the Unknown Dungeon

The chances of finding anything on my wish list is very slim, but it’s always fun to wish . I’m sorry to say that I don’t have anymore maps to show everyone, but I do have something else interesting to display. I have three beta songs that were left out of the gameplay. Unfortunately, I don’t know where to have a 5MB WAV file hosted for free . If anyone knows how I could post them then please pm me.

Notice that tiles 0x08 and 0x09 (the building roof) and 0x7E and 0x7F (the train tracks) are switched around compared to the final tileset, and that there is an exit to the west.

Super cool find HexaTyphlosion! I didn’t even think to look for beta maps of cities. I wonder how many other beta maps like that there are?

There's no telling. I'm searching for more, but with little success. One impediment, of course, is the varying tilesets used in the game (some of which may not have even made it to the final!)

I'm currently trying to put together a list of address ranges for the known maps.

Hmm..interesting find.

No department store and an exit from the left. Mabye they were using a different tileset for the tracks, but decided to go with a different design and as a result changed the 'beta' track design with that roof design, hence why you get roofs for train tracks? Just a thought.

Also notice that there is an extra route house on the south end of town (there isn't one there in the final) and that there are no entrances to the underground area.

Wow that's a good find. I think the left house was supposed to lead to Olivine city or to a path to Cianwood. But wherever it would take, why did they take it out??? ???

That map could easily be edited.. Because there is no Dept. Store.
