    Default Houshin Engi

    Anyone else like this series?
I was just re-reading it and ended up remembering some of the things I didn't like. Which for the most part all happened near the end.
    Overall, though, I liked it.

How long did things go for anyway? Not the series itself, but the time scheme it set itself in.

I just downloaded it and I heard great things about it. I'm looking forward to reading it. Hopefully Viz liscense it for their SJ manga collection since it obvisously is.

    Hopefully it is good!

ahh, Houshin Enju. I absolutely loved the characters with my personal favorite of Taikoubou. I just love his silly faces and how the artist would draw him rather stupidly at times, along with his personality and what not.

As for the time scheme, well like 75% of the cast (probably exaggerating here) are immortal aren't they, in that they slowly age. So you'd have to look for the characters who are normal and age at a normal pace.

One page mentioned a king being held prisoner for like eleven years and you see him finally get out and what not. I think that character goes from like middle-aged to his death. So, it probably takes place over a couple of decades.

    out of paranoia, Spolier:     Spoiler:

A classic moment in manga history. :X

Ryu Fujisaki has another short manga after Houshin Engi. It has even more (random) funny moments. I can't say enough of its randomness, but good for laughs. Too bad he cannot follow up with another great series. Waqwaq is a failure.

Here is a picture of the cover of the short manga. There is no English version as far as I know.

Unfortunately I only know Chinese scans. I can try upload a few pages and translate though.

Edit: Here is some uploads and my (poor) translations. I have no idea how to translate the names though...so use a little imagination...

    Boy: MONEY AHHHHHHHHHHHHH (X3)
    Girl A: Oh
Girl B: What, _Girl A's name__, is that your friend?
Girl A: Yes, we knew each other since childhood and we were classmates.
Girl B: Oh, I know, the boy who sleeps 3 hours a day and works like crazy?
Girl A: __Boy's name__'s home is located at the heart of downtown, so the tax is very heavy. He had to start doing part time jobs since his kindergarten days.
    Girl B: since kindergarten?
Girl A: No wonder he is now a slave of money.
Girl B: Let's go, morning exercise (some Jap school thing I guess) is about to begin.

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ukirin/008.jpg
Girl A's Diary: Everything is normal today.
Diary: No strange worlds or fantasy stories that I wish to encounter.
Diary: No matter how _Boy's name_ is drawn into his abnormal life...
Diary: He cannot change this normal world by himself.
(The writings on the diary are the exact words from above)
    Diary: ----Indeed. Until today!!
Teacher: Yes, like this, Julius Caesar...
Teacher: crossed the Rubicon River on January 12th, 49 BC

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ukirin/009.jpg
Teacher: The Genius who expanded Roman Empire, Julius Caesar, at that time, left a famous quote in history, that is...
Teacher: ...Julius Caesar's famous quote is...
    <the boy writes notes>
Diary: Diary page 3628. In the first lesson, he writes down notes at the back of advertisements as usual.
Girl: Never getting tired of it... (no idea what this refers to, might be a poor translation here)
    <Some warp appears>
    Girl <standing up>: Ah

ZOMG, I read this manga =O. I didn't know that Fujisaki also did that one. Anyways, it's called Sakuratetsu Taiwahen. The group Aku-Tenshi finished scanlating that one. Here's their site: http://www.aku-tenshi.com/index.php
