Default Name-Dex--Learn how to say Pokémon names correctly!!

OK. Until Serebii gets the idea of putting a pronunciation guide in the Pokédex, consider me you source for correct Pokémon name pronunciation.
I'll warn you now. Even I don't have all the names.

Here's how the "Name-Dex" will work:

    • You post what names confuse you
    • If I have the name in my list, I will post it
    • If I don't have the name, I'll let you know when I do have it

Solar Boy Nick--I don't have Gardevoir in my list at the moment.

    Iiam-Kun--I'm uncertain of Chimecho

Raine Skylock--I'm not sure about the japanse names. They are written in Katakana, and I can figure out the symbols and romanize them, but I'm having a bit of trouble with translating the romanizations to english. As for japanese pronunciations, to me, they are relatively easy. If you want them, I can figure them out for you.

If you want the Katakana symbols, I recomend this site: http://callistazm.tripod.com/dbzfiles/japanese.html

It'll show a bit of info on each japanese laguage. (Katakana is at the bottom) There will be a link to the Katakana symbol chart.

I'm pretty sure Gardevoir is Gar-day-vwar (not sure how to write out the last part). I've been told the way it's pronounced sounds French, and it does...kinda.

One at a time, people!! All the names you're asking for, I don't have yet. Unlike some of you, I don't have the WB or Cartoon Network, cause I DON'T HAVE CABLE TV!! So I don't see the show on a basis.

Before this year goes out, I might get cable. But it won't be until my Mom has figured out where we're gonna move to. The 2 possible coices have a cable connection, but all this is still undecided. So until such a time when I do get cable, Back off a bit.

Gardevoir: Guard-vwar (At least that's how it should be pronounced, if the people at WB know their French)
    Garde= to guard
    Voir= to see

I should know, I am Canadian (sort of)

    ???? (Manene)
    ???? (Manyula)

Those arent their English names. They are just different ways of translating the orginal name from katakana

How bout instead of just asking the pronounciation for each and every pokemon, we all get together and make a webpage with a pronounciation guide, or just stick it in the first post. It would be way easier

This is a post for people who are confused with pokémon pronunciation. If I have the correct pronunciation in my list, then I am more than willing to let people know what it is. This is part of my dream of spreading my knowledge to anyone who wants it.

Claydol--Now Kirlia is one I can answer for ya.

    It's:
    KER-LEE-UH

As for the 4th Generation, there are 9 currently known Pokémon. 3 have been announced in english:Munchlax, Lucario, and Bonsly. 4 have been romanized:Manaphy, Tamanta, Buoysel, and Perrap. (Note: Romanization does NOT count as english. It's just another way of saying the Japanese names) and th remaining 2 are still in Japanese: Manene and Manyula.

I do have the pronunciations for Munchlax and Lucario if anyone wants them.

The list that I gave doesnt focus on the English name, those are the proper Pokemon Japanese name pronunciation.

The english names are the guides for their respective Japanese counterparts.

Since this is a topic about Pokemon pronounciation, i thought that I should include some proper Japanese pronounciations.

Manene is pronounced "Mah-ney-ney". Ney like ray. Manene is not said like cuisine or serene. In case you were wondering. Don't askme how I know this. TT

Im not sure wether Makuhita is pronounced "Maku-heeta" or "Makueta".

So... is this like the product of the
    "Misspelled/Mispronounced Poke' names" thread?

    Cool.

How do you pronounce Groudon and Kyogre? I'm pretty sure I always pronounce them wrong (and I'll probably continue to), but I'd like to know for sure.

    Meh...

Gr-ow-don: It sounds just like "ground" except without an N and with a DON at the end of it.

Ky-O-ger: Like what Shrek is. He's an ogre. Just say Ogre, but with a KY at the beginning.

Um...........not to be so offensive but, are you supposed to pronounce geodude's japanese name is eat-****-stupid? NMeh, I'm quite confused with mewtwo's jap name as mew-stew too.
[EDITED] Ed please forgive me if I offended you somehow.

Feebas Factor--I don't have Kyogre yet, but I do have Groudon.
    GROU-DON

Yoshinichi--Makuhita is a common one among pronunciation confusion.
    MAH-KOO-HEE-TUH

Pikado92-- Japanese pronunciation can be complicated at first, but I am slowly figuring it out. Geodude's Japanese Name: Ishitsubute. So, it'd be pronounced as:
    EE-SHEE-SOO-BOO-TAY
As for mewtwo, he's one of the easiest. Even though it spelled Myuutsuu, it's pronounced without the T. So it's MYOO-SOO. The T in the name is silent. The T in the japanese sylible TSU is silent. No matter what word its in

And, Chibi-Bulbasaur. Not to be rude, but, I'm the one who gives the right pronunciations in this forum. That's why I started it. However if there is a name pronunciation that you have heard, but I haven't, then you can post it so that I can add it to my list. Otherwise, try not to do my job.
