Luffy lost to Crocodile twice before he finally beat him. In their final battle, nothing really changed, except Luffy had to win the fight, and had the deciding turn with an out-of-the-bloue new technique (albiet, not a broken one). It was out of desperation, I guess you could say. Not to say I didn't enjoy it, it's one of my 5 fav, fights. I juust felt that it could've been done better

Luffy was able to beat Crocodile by using water and then his own blood to solidify Crocodile's sand form. Luffy didn't realize that weakness until after he lost the second time. Luffy used a trick to overcome the fact that he couldn't touch Crocodile. That's one of the things Oda is good at, Having his characters use logical means to overcome stronger opponents. He did the same with Luffy and Magellan. It lets his characters beat people stronger then them but at the same time keeps those people superior in power.

As for against people like Lucchi, Oda allows enough time to past between fights for the characters to grow stronger. Kudo and Kishi just power up their characters whenever they wish to, Without any time passing by.

Yep, those ppl are still way too superior for Luffy n could have a rematch anytime if they want.

Luffy vs. crocs makes sense, versus Arlong makes sense, versus Lucci not really, versus moria makes sense.

I kinda don't quite understand how Luffy could touch n won over Enel, though :x

Eneru was kinda like magellan and Mr. 3. They had abilities that worked against the other.

Well, Enel's lightning couldn't effect Luffy's rubber body, So Luffy held a greater advantage in the fight.

He is electricity. He can't let rubber pass through his body, hence Luffy can hit him.

It begins with an introduction of the BB pirates. Blackbeard tells Sengoku he doesn’t need a rank or title, he just became a Shichibukai to get into Impel Down. Blackbeard taunts/stirs up Whitebeard. “Thatch died, Ace died too”
Whitebeard rages without words, BB counters with Kurouzu but it doesn’t work. BB is smashed into the ground. The BB pirates shoot firearms at Whitebeard. Whitebeard flashback. A conversation with Roger. Whitebeard says “One piece exists!” and dies standing up.

Nice. It has all the WB commanders, except you can't see that Fishman guy. He gets no love at all.

Great chapter. Really sad. But still WB = most epic character EVER.

^ Or maybe it ends with the chapter after that. That's probably the case. Sorry, I assumed that the chapter with Squad in his name (which is the last chapter of the volume) was the one where Squad actually stabs Whitebeard, but now I'm not so sure.

So like with Roger's death with the many pirates around the world watching his end via buggy the clown Whitebeard will confirm that the one piece is not a mere legend. And so the next new age of pirates will commence in the new world.

Not a big Whitebeard fan but glad he pounded on Blackbeard for a little.

Even in death, Whitebeard was clearly the greatest.

Great chapter. Nice to see an explanation for why the gate was open. Aside from his DF ability, Blackbeard is sort of weak. From what Whitebeard said, It sounds like the Will of D and One Piece are some counter to the WG.

Oda is really a genius. He didn't show WB as a weakling even when he finally died. And Oda didn't let WB died in BB's hands, in fact he almost killed that b*stard. A very very very cool way to die n to end this arch, lol.
His speech is also priceless, he made the entire OP world want to become a pirate even more.
He looks handsome when he's young.

Blackbeard is definitely becomes Luffy's #1 enemy.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the next arch.
There should be a new candidate for shichibukai if Jinbei n BB threw away their status. I'm also curious to what happened to Magellan n co.

Yes, I believe that Catalina Devon is a woman. A very ugly woman, But a woman nonetheless. Which now that I think about makes sense. There were women hanging out with Ivankov. I guess they don't separate boys and girls in Impel Down.

Yup, she's definitely a woman. I remember Ivankov mentioning in the anime about a very famous woman in level 6. Why does she look like Blackbeard's sister.
