I have to say, I run teams of Pokemon I like, I don't just strictly run for power--though honestly powerful moves help. I don't think I've run a Legendary since Mew in Gold though so I don't really follow the crowd in terms of what's "popular." <*shrugs*>
Right now, I'm running the following four as my "Primary" team:
Lv. 75 Swellow @ Macho Brace with Aerial Ace, Wing Attack, Endeavor, Fly
Lv. 67 Linoone with Covet, Surf, Thunderbolt, Slash
Lv. 50 Hariyama @ King's Rock with Dig, Knock Off, Vital Throw, Surf
Lv. 30 Linoone (my "HM Slave") with Cut, Rock Smash, Strength, Headbutt
[Sidenote: If you're gonna' have an HM Slave anyway, that it has Pickup is NO bad thing! ]
and the following two I'm attempting to evolve:
Lv. 43 Golbat @ Soothe Bell with Air Cutter, Confuse Ray, Mean Look, Bite
Lv. 28 Corphish @ Amulet Coin with Bubblebeam, Vicegrip, Protect, Knock Off
(So! CLOSE! TO! EVOLVING!!!!)

The following is my "Secondary" team and when I'm not evolving another they get bumped up to "Primary" (but that's gonna' be awhile...I've got a LOT of young'uns that need leveled...)
