I've got some awesome new games for you:

First of all, is a brand new RPG from Koei. It looks set to be extremely interesting:

    Opoona
    Publisher: Koei
    Developer: Koei
    Genre: RPG
    Release Date: 2007
In One Phrase: Combining an extraordinary mix of visuals, along with a refreshing RPG, Opoona looks set to be quite a good reason to own a Wii. Socialisation is an important part of the game as well as combat and the usual RPG "stuff" making this a real treat!

    Treasure Island Z
    Publisher: Capcom
    Developer: Capcom
    Genre: Adventure
    Release Date: 2007
In One Phrase: You play as Zack, a cute little pirate fella who's out to solve puzzles on a mysterious island to uncover the legendary pirate's gold of Barbaros. With bright, cartoony visuals and a nice slower-paced sort of play this might just be what you need for your Wii!
    It returns...
Are you looking forward to it?

Wow I had no idea there were 170+ games. I only have two, but some great games will be coming soon.

And thanks for using my sig, smile guy!

Critical thinking is the key to success.

Yeah, sorry... I've had so much coursework for school recently that I haven't had any time. I keep beginning to Edit the front page then realising that I've still got another essay to do.

Virtual Console's the one I'm most behind on. I don't believe there's that many actual Wii games to add to the list right now though. Just that [b]Boogie[/i] thing, right?

awe you totally didn't have to.
that's all i can think of other than the GHII official announcement and Katamari's next sequel announced to reach all current-gen consoles, including the Wii.

and i believe the NiGHTS announcement was that a sequel project was confirmed. and like Katamari, other than that: nothing.
also no announcement/confirmation/rebuttal of the original showing up on VC.
though if they DO go that route and allow saturn games along with neo geo color, they need to give us more space!

    edit! NiGHTS INFO!

which means... (forgive my pour french, i'll try and translate it as best i can):
sega has finally revealed the first screenshots of NiGHTS for the Wii in the portugese magazine Maxi Consolas. The new game in the series will retain the style of the original, while upgrading the graphics and effects. It will be two player (i can't tell what some of those words are. and ligne i doubt is used in the context i could find. it does, however say that it will include new controls with the wii remote and include some online functionality). sega's official announcement comes in lieu of an april fool's joke, but we will have to wait for more info about the game including the name.

Yep, dr00's right, folks. NiGHTS for Wii has finally been revealed. Wise gamers will know just how excited they should be about. The original NiGHTS is probably a flawless game so while the Wii sequel has a lot to live up to, the game design is still being lead by the same guy. I'll add some official screenshots and info when I get back from my mini-holiday tomorrow (I'm actually in an Internet cafe right now).

Secondly, the US Virtual Console has some new games and it's a wonderful looking list:

Starfox 64 -- Another Nintendo 64 game, finally! And it's one of the best. Mind you, I am looking forward to some more rare N64 games sometime in the near future.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles -- The rock-hard NES version, not the version that's just been released on Xbox Live Arcade.
Dragon's Curse -- This has actually been out in the UK for a while... It's a good, rare gem!

It's interesting to see how the Virtual Console is shaping up. It's turning into a really solid list and is much better than the Xbox Arcade and Playstation's version which have a few meagre releases every month. Though, I am looking forward to some original games being released. Anyone tried Sony's "flOw", it's a dream of a game that was reviewed poorly by Sony fanboys because it was so innovative.

Thirdly, expect to see some big new features appearing for both the Every Single Wii Game thread and the Wii. I've actually got some info that I'm not allowed to give you quite yet. You probably wonder how I know some of the things I reveal before they've been revealed to the press... it's basically because I have good contacts (and, no, it's not my friend's brother's sister's nephew's dog's friend's owner is Shigeru Miyamoto.) It's because my friend works for a Nintendo magazine -- albeit unofficial, Nintendo like them and give them good exclusives every month!

But anyway, got any guesses as to what I can't quite reveal to you yet is?

EDIT: Woops, I forgot, Neo Geo, Commodore 64 and MSX games are expected to start appearing on the Wii's Virtual Console in the late spring, early summer. The first ones correspond with an update release on the DS. But I won't say any more for now.
    It returns...

    NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams
    Publisher: Sega
    Developer: Sonic Team

    Release Date: 2007
In One Phrase: The first ever sequel to one of the best games of all time has arrived on Wii. NiGHTS holds a special place in all gamers hearts and if this game goes well (which it will! Have faith!) then this will be one of the most beautiful titles you will ever play.

    Brothers In Arms: Double Time
    Publisher: Ubisoft
    Developer: Gearbox Software
    Genre: First-Person Shooter
    Release Date: Fall (Autumn), 2007
In One Phrase: The established series focusing on the Second World War continues with an entry for Wii. This one focuses on the paratroopers on D-Day and the brave efforts that they went through. It's said to have a "redesigned multiplayer experience", which could mean anything.

    Very short of 200.

    BUT:

I'm sure many of you may have noticed how the actual Wii list is a little bit behind schedule at the moment. This is because I am working on a brand new version of it all... where everything will be up to date. Expect it within a week or so!

A while ago I stated that Commodore 64 games would soon start appearing on the Virtual Console... Well, looks like we'll be getting the first C64 game this very month (April, for you people who have no idea what's going on!) It will be a particular favourite game of mine actually... Impossible Mission. I love it, dunno about you guys.

And, oh, yeah. Guitar Hero 3 is expected to appear on Wii sometime around fall/autumn. Yes, I said the number THREE!

I first would like to say that you guys have put a lot of effort into this thread. Good job.
EA has announced EA Playground for the Wii and DS.
IGN Wii: What is EA Playground all about?

Dave McCarthy: EA Playground is all about capturing the sheer fun of being a kid. We’ve designed a dream playground full of interesting characters, cool collectables, and most importantly, a mix of easy to pick up and incredibly fun playground games. There are some classic favorites in there along with some new twists. It’s all packaged together in a meaningful single player “campaign” to play your way through the schoolyard. In addition, there’s also an approachable and fun multiplayer party experience that will appeal to all ages.

IGN Wii: Can you tell us about some of the games in EA Playground and how they utilize the Wii/NDS control schemes?

Dave McCarthy: When we started designing the game we had a ton of good ideas to choose from. After all, kids are incredibly creative when it comes to having fun in a playground setting. We put together our short list based on fun factor, approachability, multiplayer appeal, and the opportunity for control innovation. The cool thing is that we were left with a mix of games representing a range of genres, so there’s always something different to try out in the playground.

I was surprised when they announced Boogie, but another new IP from EA, will wonders never cease?

Also Call for Heroes is heading to the Wii, it's an RPG developed by Quotix Software, it will be released on the PC in Europe on the 31st of December, this year, and the Wii version may be coming out this October(source).

    A little info on Sadness:
    - 18 species of monsters, some good some bad. Your path through the game determines which monsters you see.
    - 2 playable characters (30 year old woman and her son)
    - Female playable character is of Polish-Hungarian descent, and spent her childhood in England.
    - Game will have no loading times (I am guessing this means visible loading)
    - Somewhere around 20 hours in length
    - Majority of the game will have you playing as the female
    - Game will have voice acting
    - Expect Sadness to have a lot of fog
    - Soundtrack will be performed by an orchestra

These Dark Souls - protected by a horde of monsters - are poisoning the minds of his victims and making them slaves of evil. The denizens of this world are on the edge of total annihilation. However, a little hope still exists in the heart of the remaining citizens.

Possibly one of the most eagerly-anticipated games that nobody knows anything about, King of Clubs features a whole lot of brain-engagin’ fun. In fact, it’s the best in the west!

Never the same game twice, this absorbing and addictive, off the wall mini-golf-based puzzler requires players to use their ingenuity to play their way to victory and lucrative rewards, whether strategically, tactically or by being a downright dirty dawg…! Not only that but with seemingly endless ways of completing each puzzle, King of Clubs offers enormously long-lasting playability.

Set in a dilapidated theme park in the middle of the Nevada desert (rumours abound that it is built on the site of an old nuclear waste site…but we can ignore that), King of Clubs looks like a cross between an amateur theatrical production and a kitsch vintage Americana playground paradise for jerky-lovin’ trailer trash! Complete with pteranodons on poles, spaceships on string and wobbly waves (plus so much more!), each themed world comes complete with its own quirky resident pro/boss, whom players must beat in order to advance to the next level before ending up in a showdown with the top guy himself, Big Bubba King.

“Wii is a very good piece of hardware. Many talented people from Nintendo make great ideas for game hardware, of course. Already I’ve been starting to think about Wii software, but it’s very hard sometimes. Because can you keep shaking the controller for hours? Players can’t spend a long time on gameplay, so this can be tough. So I respect Nintendo’s activities, but for software designers like us, it’s very hard.”

    About Impossible Mission:
Rumor: Impossible Mission Remake Available as a Download?
    By Aaron Kaluszka, Staff Writer
    May 15, 2007

Nintendo Power says yes. The publisher says not so fast.

Impossible Mission is a platform game with puzzle elements where players assume the role of a secret agent who must infiltrate the facility of an evil genius in order to stop his destructive plans. Last year, System 3 acquired Epyx's assets to bring 80s-era game franchises such as California Games and Impossible Mission to Nintendo DS, Wii, and Sony PSP. This led Nintendo Power to speculate in their October issue that we could see Commodore 64 games on Virtual Console.

More recently, the May issue of Nintendo Power made the claim that the Impossible Mission will be available from the Wii Shop Channel, possibly making it the first new game software available for download. Oddly, box art had already been released for the Wii version. We spoke with System 3 to confirm this recent development; however, they stated that they could neither confirm nor deny the story at this time. For now, it looks like the game's distribution method is still being evaluated.

Nights has a new name in Japan:
    New Name For NiGHTS
    Sega announces final Japanese title.
    by Anoop Gantayat

US, May 15, 2007 - Do you find yourself turned off by the surname "Journey of Dreams" that Sega has assigned to its highly anticipated sequel to NiGHTS? Then there may be some good news today, as it turns out that the name, in Japan at least, wasn't final.

Sega Japan held a press briefing yesterday to announce its upcoming Japanese lineup. While most of the titles on display had previously been announced, we did find one big revelation: NiGHTS has a new name in Japan.

The Wii sequel to the classic Saturn mascot game will be formally known in its home territory as NiGHTS: Hoshifuru Yo no Monogatari. An incredibly rough English translation takes the new surname to "Story of the Night of the Falling Stars."

It's possible that the name change may have been made just to give the Japanese version a more Japanese name (you know, something with 'em kanjis in it). Until Sega's international divisions comment otherwise, we'll have to continue referring to the new NiGHTS as Journey of Dreams.

    Marvelous Unveils Project O:
Staff from Final Fantasy XII, Dragon Quest VIII, Harvest Moon and Chulip working on new Wii title.
    by IGN Staff

March 9, 2007 - The makers of Wish Room, Harvest Moon, Chulip, Final Fantasy XII and Dragon Quest VIII are teaming up for a new super project for the Wii. Project O (a tentative name, of course) has just started development at two southern Japanese development studios, Cing and Town Factory, to be published in Japan by Marvelous Interactive.

This title is already getting attention due to its growing list of development talent. Serving as producer is Marvelous Interactive's Yasuhiro Wada, general producer of the Harvest Moon series. The game's designer is Yoshiro Kimura, who worked on moon (PlayStation) and Chulip (PS2), and has signed on as a contractor for Marvelous in order to do this title. Another key member of the Harvest Moon series is also reportedly working on the game. Kimura also brought in Kazuyuki Kurashima, another staff member from the moon days.

Not enough for you? Well here are a couple of guys who's past games you'll definitely recognize. Project O's programming is being headed up by Town Factory's Youichi Kawaguchi, the main programmer of Dragon Quest VIII. Hideo Minaba, the art director of Final Fantsay XII, is also on board, providing the artwork for the game's world.

Wada and Kimura shared a handful of first details on the new project with Japan's Famitsu magazine. And by "handful," we really mean just a few! In fact, even after reading a three page interview, we're not 100% sure what the game is going to be like.

Wada revealed that his inspiration for Project O originally came from a Doraemon toy set. Similar to the "secret tools" that appear in the popular children's animation series, Wada imagined a tool that allows players to create a world, give it life, and observe the subsequent happenings. He likens this to the game Sim Earth. But in addition to a distant view of the world, he wanted to let players experience the world from the first person perspective of one of its residents. He likens this to Sim People.

Project O started with the idea of being a combination of Sim People and Sim Earth. But it's since become something a bit different, thanks to the influences Kimura took from Norikazu Yasunagano, who created World Neverland for the PlayStation back in 1997. That title was a "life simulation," where players could experience the relationships between artificial intelligence driven characters.

Which at long last brings us to a vague statement describing the kind of game we'll be getting with Project O. The game will combine the life simulation elements of World Neverland with the presentation of Kimura's own Chulip. On top of all that are simulation elements from Harvest Moon. The game will feature simulation, adventure and even a few real time action elements.

The simulation elements will push the Wii to the limit, promised Wada. When in the god's perspective, the game will display dozens of characters simultaneously, each moving using unique AI routines.

Another big point, mentioned Wada, is that on top of the simulation elements, the game will deliver the feeling of being part of a storyline. In the interview, he promised something different from any previous game. Kimura chimed in and noted that there's one exception: the Harvest Moon series. Kimura feels that Project O will be similar to Harvest Moon in that it will feature a loose storyline surrounding the simulation gameplay.

If all this seems conceptual, that's because it may just be. The game is currently being worked on by just the six staffers mentioned here, with the hunt currently on for the seventh staff member, a musician. Marvelous has also started seeking designers, programmers, planners and assistant directors for the game proper, and has placed a big two page advertisement in this week's Famitsu.

We're going to have to wait until 2008 to play this potential dream project for the Wii.

    VC games for today:
The elves mining Nintendo's vaults for classic games have unearthed three new ones to add to the Wii Shop Channel. They feature ragers, lasers and, um, monkeys not in cages. Anyway, it's unlikely that you've played all three of these, so go ahead and check 'em out. Or the elves will cry.

The three new classic games go live at 9 a.m. Pacific time. Nintendo adds new games to the channel every Monday. Wii owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week's new games are:

Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest
    SNES
    1-2 players
    800 Wii Points
In the sequel to the immensely popular Donkey Kong Country, Diddy Kong gets the spotlight, along with his girlfriend, Dixie Kong - a great little monkey with a dangerous ponytail. The action starts on the wreck of King K. Rool's Gangplank Galleon that has apparently broken up on a reef offshore from the Kremlings' Island. Diddy and his friends will have to work together to rescue Donkey Kong, exploring all the hidden areas of the Kremlings' island: a spooky haunted forest, treacherous swamps, a giant beehive oozing with sticky honey and lava-filled caves, just to name a few.

    Streets of Rage 2
    Sega Genesis
    1-2 players
    800 Wii Points
To celebrate their defeat of the Syndicate exactly one year before, Blaze, Adam and Axel met for drinks. The next morning, Axel received a frantic phone call from Eddie "Skate" Hunter, Adam's younger brother, whom he was living with on the edge of the city. Blaze and Axel found Adam and Skate's house wrecked, and a picture showing Adam chained up at the feet of Mr. X. The city then once again returned to its nightmarish state as criminals ran rampant. Unable to contact their old friend in artillery, Axel and Blaze team up with Skate and Max Thunder to free the city and rescue Adam from the Syndicate. It is up to you to take down Mr. X once and for all.

    Blazing Lazers
    TurboGrafx16
    1 player
    600 Wii Points
Blazing Lazers is a vertical-scrolling shooter that was praised for surpassing the limitations of the hardware of its time. Players control the extraordinary firepower of their Gunhed Star Fighter to take on the Dark Squadron that has begun its invasion of Earth. Collect power-ups to increase your ship's battle strength so it can cut through enemies and defeat the bosses in all nine areas. Of course, as part of the "Soldier" series, the game contains a good combination of fast-paced speed with catchy, drum-propelled background music, coupled with the Field Thunder that can be used to destroy enemies in one fell swoop for the ultimate sense of satisfaction. With its fine-tuned difficulty levels, Blazing Lazers is a shooting game that anyone can enjoy.

    KEY INFORMATION
If you think you knew what it felt like to be the bounty hunter behind the visor, think again. Take aim at evil with Nintendo’s revolutionary controller.

    * Players control Samus by moving with the Nunchuk controller and aiming with the pointer, allowing for a level of immersion unlike anything they have ever experienced. Through the eyes of Samus, players experience a quantum leap in first-person control as they wield the Wii Remote controller, the ultimate device for the first-person shooter genre.

    * Samus will employ well-known power-ups like the Grapple Beam and Morph Ball, as well as a bunch of new surprises, to help her survive her coming trials.

Game storyline: Six months have passed since the events on the planet Aether. The Galactic Federation’s network computer, Aurora Unit, is suddenly and completely corrupted with something like a virus. The Federation believes Space Pirates may be behind the problem and, beginning with Samus, starts to contact bounty hunters. As they explain the situation to the assembled hunters, the Federation is attacked by the pirates. Samus and the other hunters leap to the defense of the Federation capital, only to find that the enemy the hunters face is the presumed-dead Dark Samus. Dark Samus is armed with immense power that no one can withstand. It soon becomes obvious that the forces controlling Dark Samus and the terror of the contaminated Phazon are a dire threat that could corrupt the entire universe.

Characters: Samus, Dark Samus, the Galactic Federation and new bounty hunters.

How to progress through the game: The war initiated by Dark Samus and the Space Pirates rages across many planets as they attempt to corrupt each with Phazon seeds. Players use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk™ controllers to explore alien landscapes, hunt for weapons and information, and destroy the seeds. Saving the planets from corruption isn’t enough, though. Eventually, players must take down Samus’ mortal enemy, Dark Samus.

Special powers/weapons/moves/features: Using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers, players will be able to grasp and pull things by using actual arm movements, as well as execute amazing feats like aiming and blasting in midair or at a full run. The game also incorporates a new system involving Phazon. If you fill Samus’ Phazon supply to a certain level, Samus will temporarily go into hyper mode, a state in which she can pull off incredible feats; on the flip side, if she exceeds the maximum Phazon level, she’ll perish. Also, for the first time in the Metroid series, Samus’ ship will be used in active game play.

The four we know of are a Wii Sports bowling clone, a Wii Play table tennis clone, a racing game, and a “variety pack” that offers up puzzles. Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga confirmed:
LucasArts and TT Games celebrated today the 30th anniversary of the classic movie series that spans generations with the announcement of LEGO® Star Wars: The Complete Saga. Building on the success of both LEGO Star Wars “block-buster” videogames, each complete with LEGO action and minifigure humor, The Complete Saga enables families to play through the events of all six Star Wars movies in one videogame for the first time ever. Developer Traveller’s Tales takes full advantage of the unique capabilities of all three next-generation consoles, while also adding new characters, new levels and new features. Players can build and battle this fall on the Wii™, PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and Xbox 360™ videogame system from Microsoft. Traveller’s Tales is also creating an entirely new Nintendo DS™ version, developed brick by brick from the ground up. According to the NPD Group, domestic sales of the two LEGO Star Wars videogame releases reached nearly 7 million units through March 2007, and LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy was the No. 3 best-selling title of 2006.

“As we usher in the next generation of videogame consoles, LucasArts is leading the way in family entertainment,” said Jim Ward, president of LucasArts. “We’re proud of the phenomenal success of LEGO Star Wars II and how it delivered all the fun, humor and action of the Original Trilogy to the entire family. Now, with The Complete Saga, we’re excited to finally offer the entire saga playable in one package for the first time ever.”

“LucasArts was an amazing partner on LEGO Star Wars II, and working with them on The Complete Saga continues to be a great experience,” said Tom Stone, director at TT Games. “We’re also thrilled to be focusing on next-generation consoles and creating content that plays to the strength of each system.”

The Complete Saga takes players to the most beautiful LEGO galaxy ever assembled with high-definition graphics on the PLAYSTATION 3 system and Xbox 360. And with both consoles’ online capabilities, families spread across the world can unite to rebuild a galaxy in pieces with cooperative two-player, drop-in/drop-out gameplay. Meanwhile, the unique Wii and Nintendo DS control schemes result in the most interactive LEGO Star Wars gaming experience yet.

From the Trade Federation’s “negotiations” with Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn in The Phantom Menace to the space battle above Endor in Return of the Jedi, The Complete Saga allows players to kick some brick through 36 Story Mode levels, including Episode II’s newly added high-speed pursuit of bounty hunter Zam Wessell. Traveller’s Tales has revamped levels from the original LEGO Star Wars to match the gameplay evolutions found in LEGO Star Wars II, and Prequel Trilogy characters can now be mixed and matched with those from the Original Trilogy – more than 160 in all.
