Why did you decide to become a Pokeshipping Author?

I don't know, really. I was working on another fic when the idea for my current AAML fic just popped in my head. Now that the "prequel" is done, I can resume work on my main fic, and, if I have time, work on short AAML one-shots.

Well time for a new topic! Been meaning to post one up, but I got lazy plus I had other things on my mind...

Why did you decide to become a Pokeshipping Author?
To be honest, it all started with just reading fan fics. Once I started reading some, I felt like maybe I should make one of my own as well. Using ideas that I dreamt up in my head, I basically came up with the whole first seven chapters of AJOS and since then I've been hooked (though my recent writing doesn't reflect it! ><; ) Anyway, I started more as a hobby more than anything.

I think it's the same for me to be honest. I read fanfiction and then went onto write fanfiction, and for a long while I had a desire to write AAML, but couldn't fit it into Misty's Journey until towards the end.
Then when I came back to fanfiction writing I thought 'hey, what the hell. Let's do a Pokéshipping one shot to break the ice, get me into the rhythm of writing again and get my first Pokéshipping bit of fluff out of the way!'. And badabing, badaboom, it all happened.

I would make up my own, you know with a name that is related to what your fic will be about. To be honest though, their dealings sound a lot like the mafia so maybe you can go along those lines...

Hmm, a Mafiosi organisation in the Pokémon world... I dunno whether you'd like the idea of putting the Mafia in explicitly, instead perhaps creating a name under similar vein... here, I got this from the Mafia Wiki page:

"According to some mafiosi, the real name of the Mafia is Cosa Nostra (literally, "our thing")"

You might be able to come up with a name along those lines without being a stereotypical rip off of the Mafia... it's there, regardless.

Yeah I think we all need to get going! As representatives of the best in PS fanfics for this site we sure have been setting a hell of an example! XD The only that's been good so far has been Esperon (liked the ending by the way!)

God, I need to get Going Solo chapter 1 out... argh, this is annoying. It's sat there and hasn't been worked on for a while... I still haven't got what I wanted written by the end of the Prologue... gah. --*

Easy. I didn't used to watch pokemon until just over 1 yr ago (although I had played Gold to death and destruction) and I saw the vast majority of Kanto(1st time obviously), Johto and all the wonderful Orange Islands epis. then I started to google pokemon. I found pokeshippy stuff! Then randomly stumbled across the pokemon tower and I was hooked from there! Read EVERY SINGLE PS FIC the had up at the time and then formulated my fic, The beginning of a new end and started writing that in august with it's final completion earlier this month i think it was, or last month, something like that. Also churned out a random oneshot and 2 CS oneshots as i saw that rather large potential. Now i've got 3 ideas in my head and hey...owww I just went swimming this early morning, 7 to 7:30 am and wow...Just got hungry! Gotta go, bye!

When I first found pokemontower, I did the same thing; reading PS fics until my eyes started to bleed (they didn't, I just thought that sounded funny, lol).

What inspired your AAML fic(s)?

Not the best topic, but better than nothing. As I said earlier, the idea just popped in my head. While I was working on another fic, I decided to make my AAML fic a prequel to the fic I can now resume work on.

What inspired your AAML fic(s)?
Basically the ideas that were flying around in my head. I always wanted to create my own pokemon world and making it fit into AAML just seemed to mesh for me. Probably the main influence for my fic though, would probably be the anime since it is a journey spanning across a region.

For my three-shot No One Knows, it was actually a pretty weird process: since I work in a hospital delivering food to patients, I was walking around on one of the floors after having just completed my round of late trays (sort of like a late night meal). As I walked past the rooms, a patient was just being moved into a new room as he was carried across on a bed. Usually when this kind of stuff happens, there is at least one family member around said patient, lending support and whatnot... There was no one around this guy except the workers of the hospital. So I suddenly get the notion of thinking: What if nobody knew this guy and he was a complete stranger? I mean, sure the nurse's probably knew his name or whatever and he'd eventually get a visitor, but what if this was some complete stranger off the street and no one knew who he was? After getting this idea, I began to think about it more and that's how I came up with the title. Soon, I just started twisting the idea around to relate it to AAML and it surprisingly worked! After coming up with a few ideas, I came back home and just wrote the skeleton of the story on Word, not planning to write it until sometime in the future. (that is until I figured it could work as a Pokeshipping anniversary celebration! )

Anyway, pretty long story, but that's how that came about. Anybody else?

Thanks Chaos, and yay! I'm liked ^^ :P Anyways, I read one fic that was so damn good, I was up til 3am reading it. Yeah, it's one of the most amazing things i've read in my life. Pokemon: Ultimate Adventure! I think is the first one, there are 3 but the last one won't be finished :'( And by Mikatzuchi on the pokemon tower and fanfic.net but more is on TPT. you shoudl go read. Just don't start if you're going to get any work that is due in tomorrow or monday!

After reading a fab fic by Cultnirvana (also on TPT) where Ash and Misty sleep together while at the best friend stage, she panics and they don't talk for a week so they have a pretty crap week. Then they make up and moving into Ash's flat so damn quick. So the kiss at the end of Beginning of a New End was thought of first and i had to tag it on. At the time I'd only just been able to see then end of the Hoenn League so I picked up from there!

For all the others, wow, they just pop into my head and I SWEAR the less time i can leave to writing them, the more ideas i get! I've got about 5 ideas, all of varying length and that includes one i thought of today...so hope i can remember that...i shoudl prob start jotting them down somewhere so i don't foget something i really liked the sound of writing when the idea came to my head. I'll shut up now and go do my C3 maths papers...tuddles! [Expect a fic this weekend, only time i had to write was 12 til 12:30 this morning before getting some sleep.]

I finished Chapter 14! I'm so happy! Now I can start proofreading Chapter 13 (it's been so long...) and then I can post it up!

Also Esperon what was that thing you were telling me about the new rating system for the oneshots? I know what you mean when you say that oneshots aren't going to generate the same amount of numbers chaptered ones do...

Yeah that's happened to me quite a while where I leave the document open and then I go onto the internet and get distracted for the rest of the night.

I was thinking maybe we could make the steps shorter along with fewer color schemes, maybe make it every 200 views or something like that. We'd have to keep thinking up something so as to make it fair for oneshots.


I was wondering if everyone here wanted to get around to do a oneshot contest. I'm pretty eager and plus it would help to get the creative juices flowing.

On the subject of rankings for one shots, I agree.
A good way of doing it would be to look at say... 20 one shots that are recent (say the 20 most recent ones), look at how many views they received, and work a system from that.
200 views seems to be a bit too steep in my opinion, though. Remember people are only going to be looking at the story once, and it's only really going to be updated once.

Also, short stories that are chaptered should have their own separate ranking, too. Perhaps a go between of one parters and the full system, because lumping them with one parters will distort how one parters are ranked, while short stories are distorted by large multichapter fics.


One more thing: finally, something substantial done on Going Solo. It should be up tonight; I'm on a roll and know what I'm doing. =D

Thing is MD (yes, that is your name now cos the queen says so), you can't make the system too complicated cos I have to re-do the medals every time a fic changes its rank. I don't mind as it doens't take me too long but i still have to have 1/2 an hour to do it and with these exams, i can't do more than one a week. (fine, i haven't had to change one since el_toro published his three shot, but if we make huge changes then I will.) We could have it on ever 20 viewings though and leave it a week to determine the medal colour when the number of viewings has on the whole stopped or slowed down a lot.

And el_toro, the idea is good cept i can't really til...August. NO!!! That's depressing...but i just don't want to commit to something and then find i don't have the time. I hate not fulfilling my commitments...*whispers* though, the lure fic is possible for coming in a few days!
