    The patterns I am going to show you, including this one, I found while chaining snubbull (broke at 39 because it was on the edge, and I didn't notice). This one has 2 and 4 aligned and continued my chain.

    This next one is basically the first one upside down. I saw this as well:

    This one is my favorite for some reason, and I had it posted before, without noticing that 1 and 4 aligned. Like I said before, the 4th rung patch continued the chain.
    I have entered patterns similar to the examples many times and none have broken my chain. I have concluded that line patterns do not, and I repeat do NOT break your chain.

    Have got my geodude chain up to 40 but been resetting for ages and no shiny patches. Am getting worried coz i only got 350 max repels left - he he.
    What do you reckon i should do - stick on 40 or try and make the chain bigger?
    Also i better check if geodudes can self destruct or explode at level 22

    You should probably stay at 40 unless you are so bored of resetting that you want to continue the chain.

    Pimplup: I don't think ALL lined patterns continue your chain. But I did some research on lined patterns. Here's what I got:

    As you can see, patches 4 and 3 are in the same line. As long as patches 1 and 2 aren't in the same line as paches 3 or 4, the 4th patch is made the safest patch. I've entered this many times and my chain always continued, so this is a very safe pattern and not too rare aswell.

    got completely frustrated chaining glameow again this morning, so took a break from it and randomly decided to try pidgey, and ended up with....

    *drumroll*
    x3!

    the most i've gotten out of 1 chain so far, and on the 1st try too, lol. ^^;; ended up with 2 males and 1 female, with natures jolly, timid and brave. haven't checked iv's or anything yet, but think i'll probably keep the jolly 1?... i could have gotten more since i still had more than 100 repels left, but i got tired and hungry and couldn't really be bothered chaining any more after that! ^^;

    hmm, back to glameow now i think, although i don't think i have enough luck to get more than 3 shinies in the 1 day, lol! >.<

    I was testing line patterns with the 4th rung patch aligned with another patch. You have patterns that don't have anything to do with the 4th rung patch, like the 2 and 3 on the same line for example. Most people go to the 4th rung patch anyway, and I was reassuring them that line patterns won't break their chains. Good finds, nonetheless.

    I had a rough day of chaining yesterday. I got to a chain of 40 magnemite with 100 max repels left and I used all of them reseting for a shiny patch but I didnt get one but now I have a chain of 40 dodou with 190 max repels so hopefully I can get a couple

    Just caught shiny dodou number 1 after only 4 max repels!

    1 shiny Slakoth.
    I don't ever really have much luck in the Eterna forest though, but at least I finally got one

    My geodude chain broke at 49 with no shiny patches. Spent about 2 hours on 40 before i got bored of resetting. At least i managed to hatch a couple of riolu eggs and my pachirisu picked up some evo stones.
    Gonna give chaining a rest for a couple of days - its exhausting. Unless i get a decent swarm in a decent area

    Just got a shiny aron on a chain of 30. I'd been after it for about a couple hours. Pachirisu broke the chain straight after, but I don't care. I got what I wanted out of it.

    Going to train it and evolve it whilst I hunt for my next target: Ariados.

    Now, about chaining stuff.

    Pimplup784: I was reading your "new patterns". Some questions: did you prove your "patterns" with low rate of appearance pokemons? how many times did you prove them?

    -First of all, My guide never said that "Lined Patterns" break 100% times a chain. What happens with lined patterns is that they cause sometimes a switch of the tile zone with high chance of continuing a chain, so 4-zone may not contain the chain pokemon in some ocassions (I wrote that in my guide). Very impressed that Shiny-arceus noticed that... eventually, in some specific line patterns, there's a specific tile which has the high chance of not breaking your chain, but I haven't researched that yet, it requires a lot of work, so I decided to prove them in my next research. So, because lined patterns have some tricks, I wrote in my guide that NOT LINED PATTERNS ARE SAFER THAN LINED PATTERNS, because in NO-LINED patterns, the 4-zone patch high chance of not breaking chains (in normal conditions) is not affected by other arranges.
    During my research (3 weeks long) I proved LINED PATCHES vrs NO-LINED PATCHES with Trophy Garden special pokemons (5%) and Rare Pokeradar Pokemons (22% or less) so many times (I can send you data if you want) with Sparkly-type Grasses. Eventually, the no-Lined patches gave awesome results (4-zone patches chosen) with about 90-92% (proved hundred of times during my research and during my chains, bcz is a common pattern) of not broken chains making it a Great pattern. In the other hand, Lined Patches broke about 30-35% of my chains, so I inferred that they could be some kind of arranges within line patterns that affects chaining. BUT Pimplup784, I never said that Line Patterns ALWAYS break a chain, I suggest you to prove them more weeks and with low chance of appearance pokemons before posting. And, when I read your "confirmations" I noticed that in your first 2 patterns, the 3-zone patch was of common type, different from the other zones. Eventually, as I wrote in the guide, a different type patch has fewer chance of continuing a chain, and the decrease in its chance is added to the other zones, so this add some random chance to a pattern. I also suggest you should prove your "patterns" when all zones patches are of the same-type, to avoid considering other variables in your patterns. However, it seems that "Smile Pattern" could work, I never notice that arrange (maybe it never smiled to me ) but I'll prove it in my next research (maybe I could get some help from Pokerealm with his cheating device to make its appearance faster), and if it has a high chance of success, I'll add it to my Theory of Patterns.

    to me it didnt work cuz i found 2 shinies by the start of the chain i just chained 2 pokes so i dont think it works its just by luck.it might be easire but it depends on luck.

    I proved it with Ralts a couple of times. I am sorry for misunderstanding. I thought you meant that the chain breaks 50% of the time but I might not have payed great attention. I was not saying you were wrong, I was saying you made a mistake, but apparently I read wrong. I am sorry for the misinterpretation. I didn't call the new "patterns" by the way, I was saying what I discovered about the lined patterns.

    I chained 24 Skittys and my chain broke....-_- *sigh* Trying again...

    Also chained 17 Togepi and caught 8... One's called Vanilla, because it's cute...

    But shiny Pokemon are HARD to get...X_X;
