TIP: If you're chaining Beldum in a sandstorm, have a Magnet Puller first slot of your party. I know it is really old news but you'd be suprised how many people don't know of it.

woohoo i take the cake here lol, 43 on beldum, and i followed these steps:

step 1: chain in daytime ONLY any other time DO NOT BOTHER
step 2: turn ur ds's light to maximum (level 4)
step 3: stop for 2 seconds each time u reset and watch closely, even the dim patches will shake a lil though very hard to see
step 4: to increase security walk 1 patch left then come back to start point (1 patch right) and repeat 25 times so u wont break ur chain due to stepping in wrong grass
step 5: high level of confidence and keep reminding urself, "impossible is nothing"

    hope i helped

EDIT: oh i forgot to mention, theres time frames between what "matter" flies in the sandstorm, for me every around 5 seconds a few green leaves flow, and square rocks continuously flow for 9 seconds and stops for like 1 seconds which leaves dust only, this is best time to reset radar and see the aptches more clear, also if u close ur ds then flip it back on and can get the reset right after the flip u will see the patch without too much snadstorm matter as well, but tahts harder than jsut taking around 2 or 3 mintues to observe the pattern of sandstorm then choosing best time to reset radar.

hope people can follow these and get beldums/swinubs

I take it, after what people talk about screen brightness and tilting the screen, that those who use DS Lites are at an advantage over those who use a regular DS. (I got the original DS, first shipment.)

Its really hard for me to chain there. I got up to 6 sneasels in the snow and I got 3 hippowdons in the sandstorm. However I got 16 camerupt on route 228. It's my 4th highest chain ever.

for original ds, turn off ALL lights close all curtains, and start chaining you will see the difference, the lighting will be almost as strong as level 4 ds lite light without being in a pitch black room.

    hope i helped

I just got a chain of 99 Beldums
    lol
came across 4 shinies but 2 killed themselves.
    but that's not the point.

the way i found easiest was to tilt the ds screen.
also make sure the thing you're chaining is a sparkly one, thatway you can always see it.

if it's a swarm if you accidently run int anything chances are that it's the thing you're after anyway.

no...but they are very hard to find on route 230 (must use the flashy grass)

I just got a chain of 40 of them the other day with only 1 shiny though
Back from a very large break...
I am looking specifically for the following shinies:
    UT adamant gible
UT modest/timid feebas (must be absolutely UT)
    UT adamant giratina
I have a large list of shinies to offer, so PM me if you have any of the above pokemon...Thnx

never really tried to use the radar for catching shineys in seeminly impossible areas like those.

it seems like it an interesting challenge which i might try to undertake...but only when theres a snorunt or beldum swarm, namely snorunt cuz for some reason i want a shiney glalie since it looks cool ^^

today i had the idea of making a chain on the route 228 and i got i chain of 2 vibrava and a chain of 10 dugtrio, not bad.

i have my pokemon pearl since 2007 (i also have the pokemon platinum) and now i have 3 shinys and i´m proud of that (the shinys i have are a male gardevoir, a female luxray and a male beautifly), the highest chain i have is of 42 chingling.

my gardevoir was a ralts shiny that i got in the platinum
my luxray was a shinx shiny that i got in the pearl
my beautifly was a wurmple that i got in the pearl

While I haven't gotten a shiny out of them, I've actually gotten 2 chains of about 10 for Loudred in a snow area and Vibrara in the sandstorm. Maybe the white shaking of grass is easier to notice in the old old DS.
