Halo to Halo 3 - Really that good?

Well Halo 3 went on sale this week and it's sold great. But I don't understand what's so exciting about a new Halo game. It's just another FPS to add to the other heaps FPS. You know what it's going to be.

I don't hate Halo but I'm just wondering why it's so popular?

Please enlighten me.

The story and the action
I loved the co op and multiplayer aspect also

People say the same thing about Legend Of Zelda

you're right I enjoy Legend Of Zelda games but i also enjoy Halo games but I perfer Zelda over Halo for certain things and Halo over Zelda for others

GTA and Saints Row are better than this game. Not the same genre but Rag-Doll effects and gameplay in both (Rag-Doll better in SR) are much, better than Halo (1, 2, 3)

Halo 1: Awesome, a real fresh look for sci-fi shooters.
Halo 2: Story wasn't as good, but now you can dual wield.

Actually Halo 2's dual wielding was one of the first games I've seen dual wielding done right: independent triggers. I never really liked the fact that if you could dual wield, you were still assigned one button and the guns fire alternatively.

But it wasn't the first to have independently triggered dual wielding, a Half-Life mod called The Specialists had independently triggered dual wielding before Halo 2.

What? You think this is just another fps. Sorry, I have to be another halo fanboy. The genre doesn't suck and in my opinion and the halo series is awesome.

In my opinion it was short but sweet. But I hate the second to last level with a passion. All of the flood are so freaking annoying!!!

The reason I like Halo is due to the sheer awsome characters and not to mention Sergeant Johnson who inspired me to get into the series. The theme has got to do with aliens, space, and mystery, now that's something I'm totally fond of. And then the game has some great quotes which make me smile. I just can't play other first person shooters cause I don't get the same feeling when I'm playing them.

Halo 2: Bad Storyline Very good multiplayer
Halo 3: Great ending good multiplayer

PS: Will Halo DS realy be a posiblity now that Bungie left microsoft?

I have to say, Halo has possibly one of the worst, most cliche plots ever, and even though my expectations were low for the plot of Halo 3, it sucked more than I ever imagined. What really makes me mad, though, is that when I first found out about Halo, I thought it was a sci-fi about humans that didn't seem like they were ripped from Star Trek, didn't have lasers, but had enough brains and good enough tech to survive. When I learned that this couldn't be any further from the truth (aka Halo was more of the same but somehow worse), I really began to hate Halo. Every human sucked more than a Stormtrooper from Star Wars, and in the books the Spartans couldn't even really save the day. Also, in H2 onwards, the mysterious, alien feel of the plasma weaponry felt replaced by a plastic, flashlight feel.

Regarding gameplay, Latios pretty much covered everything, and in H3 the brutes felt weak and lame to fight. Because they didn't have regenerating shields, you could fight them at a less intense pace. If they were like the fearsome, crazy shoulder-ramming brutes from H2 they might have been cool, but the second they were just brown elites all coolness they had died out.
